Chapter 3-Grounders
One month later
Octavia's P.O.V
With a cry, Octavia jumps out of a tree and stabs a knife into the neck of a deer. The deer falls to the ground and quickly dies. Behind her, the second deer tries to run, but an arrow is shot through its heart. The deer goes to the ground, and Raven comes out of the woods. "We got two deers. What do you think Clarke and Jake got?"
"Maybe a boar," Octavia says with a smirk. "Let's get these back to the cabin," Octavia says as she picks the deer up, and Raven nods as she removes the arrow from the deer and puts her bow on her back before she picks the deer up and follows Octavia. It took them about fifteen minutes to get back to the cabin where Jake and Clarke were waiting.
"I think we win this time," Raven says as they set the deers down.
"Nope," Clarke says as she leads them into the shed, where there is a panther and a deer.
"What the hell?" Octavia says.
"You two get to skin them," Clarke says as she leaves with Jake. Raven and Octavia pull out their knives.
"We'll get them next time," Octavia says.
"Damn right, we will," Raven says.
Murphy's P.O.V
Murphy was woken up by Wells shaking him. "What the hell do you want?" Murphy asks.
"We have school, Murphy," Wells tells his friend.
"You know, before I became friends with you, I barely went to classes. We should be skipping classes and continuing to investigate what happened to Clarke," Murphy says.
"We've been doing that for a month. We can't just put our lives on hold because of that."
"Not like we got long left anyways," Murphy says. Wells had told him about the oxygen failure.
"They'll figure something out," Wells tells Murphy. "Now, come on, I don't feel like being late," Murphy smirks as he grabs his bag and follows Wells out of the room.
Lincoln's P.O.V
Lincoln Kom Trikru walked the Trikru village TonDc until he reached the house of Indra Kom Trikru, the chief of Trikru. He knocks on the door. "Come in," He hears. He walks into the house and stops. In front of him stood Indra, Anya Kom Trikru, the Commander's General, Gustus Kom Trikru, the Commander's bodyguard, and The Commander of the 12 clans, Lexa Kom Trikru.
"Commander," Lincoln says as he falls to one knee.
"Rise, Lincoln," Lexa says. "Come join us," Lincoln nods as he walks over to the table and sits down. "We were talking about the sky, people. Three women and one man, right?" Lexa asks Lincoln, who nods. "You have been watching them the last month."
"I have, Heda," Lincoln tells her.
"What can you tell me?" Lexa asks.
"When they hunt, they split into two teams, Clarke and Jake," Lincoln says. "Clarke is the one with blond hair, and Jake is her father. Clarke has become quite skilled with a knife and a bow, and Jake has become skilled with an ax."
"Where did they get these weapons?" Anya asks.
"Made them with metal from their ship," Lincoln answers.
"They are able to hunt?" Lexa asks.
"Yes," Lincoln answers. "Skin animals, too. Today, Clarke and Jake brought back a deer and a panther."
"Who killed the panther?"
"Clarke," Lincoln answers.
"What about the other two?" Anya asks.
"Octavia and Raven, Raven has become very skilled with a bow. She has had problems with a knife and an axe, but she is doing better. Octavia has become good with an ax, a knife, and even a spear she made. She is quite skilled."
"How you heard anything else?" Anya asks.
"There are more of them, on a ship they call the Ark. It sounds like more will be coming down," Lincoln says.
They were all silent for a moment before Indra spoke. "What do we do with them, Heda? More clans have been asking questions, wanting answers."
"I know, Indra," Lexa says as she turns to Lincoln. "Do you think they could be helpful to the Coalition?"
"Yes, Heda, Clarke, she is a healer, and she has threatened some bad wounds for her people, but not just that. I think they could be the key to beating the Mountain," Lincoln says, making all of them look at him.
"Explain," Lexa growls.
"They have guns," Lincoln says. "Each one of them, they don't use them anymore, but they have them. Their technology could help us match the Mountain men and get inside."
"What about you two?" Lexa asks Anya and Indra.
"I think we should give them a chance, and if they prove dangerous, we kill them," Anya says.
"Alright, Lincoln," Lexa says. "You will go to them and greet them. We will join you soon when it is safe. Call out, and we will hear you,"
"Of course, Heda," Lincoln says before he leaves.
Kane's P.O.V
Kane walked into the infirmary and looked at Jackson. "Where's Abby?"
"Didn't show up," Jackson tells him as he looks at the girl who was talking with one of the parents. The girl's name was Ruby. Ruby is a very beautiful and attractive young woman with an oval face, light olive complexion, almond-shaped brown eyes, and long dark brown hair. Her height is 5'6", and she has a slim, slightly athletic physique.
"How is she doing?" Kane asks Jackson.
"Good," Jackson says. "Can you check in on Abby?" Jackson asks Kane, who nods as he leaves. He walks through the Ark until he reaches Abby's apartment. He knocks on the door, and after a couple of minutes, Abby opens it.
"What do you want, Marcus?" Abby asks as she walks away, and Kane walks in, shutting the door behind him.
"You didn't show up to work today. Jackson asked me to check up on you," Kane says. He looks at the bottle on her nightstand. "I thought you were doing better, Abby."
"I was, for a little while. You don't know what it is like, Marcus. Coming home to an empty apartment, not knowing if my husband and daughter are alive."
"I do, 'cause I don't know if my daughter is alive. Why don't we have dinner here tonight? I'll cook, you, me, Aurora, and Bellamy," Kane offers. After a moment, Abby nods.
"Wells?"
"Yeah, I'll ask him myself, so get some sleep, shower, and I'll be back in a couple of hours," Kane tells Abby, who nods as he leaves.
Wells's P.O.V
Wells and Murphy sat at a table during lunch eating. "You know, if we all do die from oxygen failure, I'll take joy in knowing that Pike was one of them," Murphy says, making Wells chuckle.
"We could watch," Wells offers, and Murphy smiles.
"I like your style, Jr," Murphy says with a smile, but his smile fades, and Wells looks behind him as Jasper Jordan is pushed to the ground.
"Murphy," Wells says but sighs as Murphy stands up and walks over to them. Wells watches as Murphy steps in front of the boys who pushed Jasper and were about to push Monty Greene.
"Is there a problem, Murphy?" One of them asked.
"Yeah, you guys are the problem, so why don't you leave these two alone? No need for me to drop you guys on your asses."
"Living with Wells has made you a hero, Murphy," One of them said with a smirk.
"Maybe, doesn't mean I can't kick your ass," Murphy growls.
"Come on, guys," The leader guys say before they leave. Murphy holds his hand down to Jasper, who takes it.
"Thanks," Jasper says.
"No problem," Murphy says. "Wanna join us?"
Jasper looks at Monty, who nods. They walk back over to the table and sit down. "Monty," Monty Greene says to Wells. "This is Jasper."
"Hi, you guys know who I am," Wells says as Kane walks up behind them. Wells turns and looks at him. "Hey, Kane."
"Wells," Kane says. "Abby is having dinner tonight. She would like you to join."
"Can I bring Murphy?" Wells asks.
"I'm not a dog, Jr," Murphy says.
"Yes," Kane says.
"Alright, see you tonight," Wells says, and Kane nods as he leaves.
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke and Jake sat outside sharpening their weapons. "Is it wrong that I want it to stay like this forever?" Clarke asks her father.
"No," Jake says. "We've never known peace like this, Clarke. Down here, it is just us, no fighting, nobody dies. We're free to be whoever we wanna be," Jake says as he stands up. "Come on, let's go help the girls."
Clarke nods as she stands. A gust of wind goes past her, and an arrow goes into Jake's leg. Jake lets out a shout of pain as Clarke grabs him and pulls him to the side of the house as another arrow hits the ground. Octavia pushes the door open. "What the hell is going on?!"
"Stay inside. We're getting shot at," Clarke shouts as she pushes on Jake's leg. The arrows stop, and they hear a thump on the other side of the house. Octavia and Raven come out, Octavia has her knife in her hand, and Raven has her bow ready as Lincoln comes out from beside the house with the body of a man.
"Don't move," Raven says.
"I am not here to hurt you," Lincoln says as he lets go of the man. "He attacked you. Jake got hit. Let me help him."
"How do you know our names?" Octavia asks.
"I'll explain, but the arrow may have had poison on it," Lincoln says. "Please."
"Go," Octavia says, and Lincoln nods as he goes past her, and Clarke looks at him.
"Who the fuck is this?" Clarke asks.
"I am, Lincoln," Lincoln says as he bends down. "We need to remove the arrow," Lincoln says, and Clarke nods as Lincoln pulls out bandages and a knife. "Is there a fire?"
"Yes," Octavia says.
"Heat up the blade," He tells her, and she nods as she grabs the knife and goes inside.
"There are people on the ground?" Jake asks.
"Yes, a lot of us, but we will talk after," Lincoln says, and Jake nods as Octavia comes out with the knife. Clarke grabs the arrow and pulls it out as Lincoln takes the knife and presses it on the wound. Jake hisses in pain as Lincoln licks the arrow. "Poison," Lincoln says as he grabs vials out of his bag and opens one. "Drink."
Jake nods as he takes a drink, and Clarke wraps the wound.
"He'll be okay," Clarke says.
"Now start talking," Raven says.
"Heda!" Lincoln shouts, and after a couple of moments, Lexa, Indra, Gustus, and Anya come out of the woods and climb off their horses.
"More of you," Clarke says.
"They won't hurt you," Lincoln tells them.
"He is correct. I am Lexa Kom Trikru. I am the Commander of the twelve clans. This is Indra. She is the leader of Trikru, Anya is my general, and Gustus is my guard. You are Clarke, Jake, Raven, and Octavia, and we have a lot to talk about."
Thanks for reading. In the next chapter, the group talks with the grounders as Wells and Murphy start to suspect that Abby and Kane know more than they are letting in. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
