Chapter 36-Ruins

Clarke's P.O.V

Clarke watched the embers of the fire as they burned. "Clarke," Lexa says softly as she walks up behind her girlfriend and lays her hand on her shoulder. "I've gathered everybody and we need to talk, figure out our next move," Lexa says. Clarke looks at Lexa and nods as Lexa leads her away from the embers and towards the center of the village where everybody was waiting.

"Did you know?" Murphy asks as they walk up to them. "Did you know Mount weather had fucking missiles?"

"No," Lexa answers. "I did not know."

"They've never used them before?" Wells asks.

"No, they've never had a reason," Anya says.

"We gave them one," Jake says. "They know that we are a threat to them, that we could get into Mount Weather."

"What do we do now?" Octavia asks.

"We know they attacked Tondc and Polis," Costia says.

"We also don't know how many missiles they have," Harper says.

"You said they couldn't go any furthur than Polis," Roan says to Clarke. "How would they haven't gotten there and back to Mount Weather in time without dying."

"They likely didn't," Clarke says. "They got what they want, they've weakened us."

"Indra, take Lincoln, Octavia, and Bellamy and ride for Tondc," Lexa tells her. "Help who you can, and then gather your survivors and come to Polis."

"What will the rest of us do?" Jake asks.

"We ride for Polis, to do the same," Lexa says. "Roan, Jasper, and Ontari will ride to the Azgeda village and gather them," Lexa tells Roan who nods. "Alright, let's go."

Lexa's P.O,V

The gates to Polis slowly opened and they rode into the city. Lexa stops as she sees her city. Buildings destroyed, bodies lying in piles, but she couldn't stop staring at the tower, her home that was destroyed, pieces of the tower laid across the city. "Heda," Lexa looks down at a guard. "How many are dead."

"We estimate over half the city," The guard says. "When it hit, the tower went down, crushing people. Killing hundreds."

"The nightbloods, Gaia," Lexa says.

"Belived to be dead," The guard says. "All besides one."

"Who?" Lexa asks as she wipes the tears from her eyes.

"Aden," The guard answers. "He had sneaked out of the tower, he was worried about you, he was caught at the gate when it happened."

"Where are the injured at?" Clarke asks.

"I'll show you. Heda, what are your orders?" The guard asks Lexa.

"Gather who is alive, prepare them to leave the city."

Octavia's P.O.V

Octavia helped Nyko wrap a man's leg. They had arrived at Tonic quickly and found the village destroyed, Nyko had survived and taken command helping who he could. "I have this, Octavia. I need you to go and check on Indra, she has been looking at Polis since she got here."

Octavia nods as she slowly stands and goes up to Indra. "Indra?"

"The tower is gone," Indra says as she stares in the direction of Polis. "My daughter is dead, Octavia."

"We don't know that," Octavia says.

"We do," Indra says as she looks at her second. "Gather our survivors, we leave for Polis soon, please."

Octavia nods as she walks away from her.

Lexa's P.O.V

Lexa walks into one of the still standing buildings and sees Aden. "Lexa," Aden says as he stands up and hugs her.

"Are you alright?" Lexa asks.

"Yes," Aden says. "But the other nightbloods, Gaia."

"I know," Lexa says. "There is nothing we can do for them now."

"What do we do now, to our knowledge, you, me and Ontari are all that is left."

"I know, but we have bigger matters right now, Aden. Sonn we will leave."

"Where?"

"The only place I know they cannot reach us. We will go to Azgeda."

Jake's P.O.V

Jake and a guard moved a piece of stone and set down. Jake sighs as he stares at the body. It was Gaia. Jake sighs as he bends down beside the woman. "I didn't think we would ever find her," The guard says.

"She must have been returning to the tower when the missile hit," Jake says. "Got crushed by some of it."

"Indra has lost her village and her daughter," Jake says. "We'll move this body away by itself. So Indra can burn her daughter, say goodbye."

"I'll see it done," The guard says. Jake nods as he stands up and walks away.

Clarke's P.O.V

Clarke wrapped a man's stump and looked at Luna as she walked into the house they were using. "Please tell me you are here to help. I have one healer dead, one injuried and another has been by herself the whole time."

"I am," Luna says. "I'm not as skilled as you, but I can at least help."

"Thank you," Clarke says as she goes to a man who was burned on his face and missing his hand.

"I wrapped his stump but he has been crying in pain all night," The healer says.

"Please...sky girl, help me," He says softly.

"I will," Clarke says as she removes her knife. "Yu gonplei ste odon," Clarke says as she pushes her knife into his head. He breathing stops as Clarke closes his eyes. Clarke looks up and sees Luna and the healer looking at her. "If we can't save them, we need to kill them, we can't be wasting supplies on them, we have to many injured," Clarke says. The other two nod as Clarke goes to the next grounder.

Murphy's P.O.V

Murphy grabs a body and throws it in a pile as Lexa walks up to him. "Commander," Murphy says.

"I need to speak with you, John," Lexa says and Murphy nods as Lexa leads him away from the others. "I have learned quite a bit about you these last few months. I know that you will do anything to protect the people you love."

"I will."

"Then I need you to do something," Lexa says. "It will be dangerous."

"What is it?"

"I need you to gather intel on Mount Weather," Lexa says.

"How do you suggest I do that?" Murphy asks.

"I don't know," Lexa answers. "But I am sure you will figure out a way to do it. If you do not wish to do this, I understand."

"I'll do it," Murphy says. "But I'll need some help."

"Wells?"

"No, I need him to be safe. I want Clarke."

"You suggest I sent my girlfriend with you, she is a target for Mount Weather."

"I know," Murphy says. "Truth is, keeping her here is a bad idea, she just lost her mother. Regardless of if you want to see it, she wants blood. She can help me get it, I swear to you, Lexa. I will not let anything happen to her."

"Let me speak to her," Lexa says and Murphy nods. "How do you know that she wants vengeance."

"Because I wanted the same after they killed my father. Sooner or later, she will lash out, better she isn't around a lot of people when it happens," Murphy says before he walks away from Lexa.

Octavia's P.O.V

Octavia watched as the people of Tondc loaded up what they had left. "You okay?" Bellamy asks as he walks up to his sister.

"For months, this village was my home, to see it like this, it makes me want to kill every person inside of Mount Weather," Octavia says as she looks at her brother.

"We might not be able to beat them, O. They could have more weapons that we don't know about."

"Let them use them," Octavia says. "This war between Mount Weather and us only ends one way, Bellamy. With them or us dead. If you aren't okay with that, then you shouldn't be fighting it," Octavia says before she walks away from her brother.

Charles P.O.V

Charles walks through the Ark until he reaches the Control room. "Charles, I am glad that you have joined us," Jaha says as he looks at the man who nods.

"Of course, sir," Charles says. "I am assuming that this is about the Ground."

"Yes. We drop in two months, Charles," Jaha says. "The day before we drop, we will release the kids not coming with us to their parents."

"Are you sure that is wise, sir?" Charles asks.

"Yes. It will help gain their loyalty, when they drop and we have Jake and Kane's heads. We will need all the help we can get to build our new home."

"I assume we will not only kill Jake and Kane."

"No, John Murphy as well. Sinclair, Kyle Wick, Aurora, Raven Reyes, Octavia and Bellamy. They will all need to die. Clarke and Abby will be offered a choice as will the other children, if they refuse then they will join the rest."

Charles nods. "I do not know how willingly; Abby will work with us after we kill her husband."

"If she wants to protect her daughter, she will," Jaha says. "The kids who have been selected to go to the ground, you will begin training them in combat, we will need them to know how to fight in case Kane or Jake have anything planned."

"Of course, sir, anything else?" Charles asks.

"No, you are dismissed."

Jake's P.O.V

Jake sat beside Gaia's body. He looks at the door as it opens and Indra walks in. Jake stands up. "I'm sorry, Indra."

Indra nods as she walks up to the body. "A parent should never outlive their child."

"No, they should not," Jake says as he looks at her. "We will get blood for this, Indra."

"The blood of the Mountain men will not bring back Gaia or Abby, Jake. As much as we wish it would," Indra says as she takes her daughter's hand. "I did not support her choice to become a flamekeeper. I was never the mother she deserved, now I will never get the chance to be," Indra says as tears go down her eyes. "I would like a moment alone with my daughter."

Jake nods as he lays his hand on her shoulder and leaves.

Lexa's P.O.V

Lexa stood on a platform the next day with Clarke. She looked at her people who could still stand on their feet. "I wish I could say that tomorrow, we will avenge the dead, but I cannot, this attack, it will not be avenged for a while, but I swear to you, blood will have blood. Until then, we cannot stay here. So prepare, in two hours, we ride for Azgeda," Lexa says loudly. Her people nod as Lexa looks at Clarke. "We need to speak."

Clarke nods as she follows Lexa. "What's going on?"

"I have asked Murphy to gather intel on Mount Weather. He wants you to go with him."

"Okay," Clarke says. "I'll go with him."

"Are you sure?"

"Lexa, I need to go, I can't stay here and do nothing."

"Okay," Lexa says. "But please be careful."

"I will," Clarke says before she kisses her."

Clarke's P.O.V

Clarke and Murphy rode down the road. "Why did you want me to come?" Clarke asks him.

"Because I know that the only way we're going to get real intel from these guys is by making them more afraid of whoever leads them and I believe that you will have no problem doing that. Am I right?" Murphy asks.

"Yeah, you're right."

Thanks for reading. Next chapter, Lexa and the others move for Azgeda as Clarke and Murphy go on a man hunt. As always suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
