Chapter 37-Finding a Mountain man
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke stared into the fire as the mooned shined down on them. She looks at Murphy as he walks up to her with fire wood in his arms. Clarke pulls two rabbits off the fire and hands one to Murphy who nods. "Do you have a plan?" Clarke asks.
"No," Murphy says. "I have a terrible plan but I'm hoping that we won't have to resort to that," Murphy says. "We need to draw them out."
"How?" Clarke asks.
"We need to get close, first, then we'll figure that out," Murphy says as he looks around. "I haven't said it yet, but I'm sorry about Abby, she was a good person."
"Thanks," Clarke says. "Get some sleep, Murphy. I'll keep watch," Clarke tells the teen who nods as he lays his head down on a blanket.
Lexa's P.O.V
Lexa sat in her tent starting at a map. She turns her head and looks at Aden who was sleeping in her bed. "Lexa," She hears Octavia outside of her tent.
"Come in," Lexa says to the girl who walks into the tent. "Why aren't you sleeping?" Octavia asks.
"I cannot sleep right now," Lexa says. "I do not know where we go from here, Octavia. We have lost Polis, Tondc, and the Skaikru village. Abby, David and Otan are dead. Gaia is dead, and there are only three nightbloods alive. One of them is still a child. If I were to die tomorrow, he and Ontari would have to fight to the death, leaving just one. I want them to believe that I know how to move forward from this, but the truth is, I do not."
"We deal with one problem at a time, right now, our priority needs to be getting these people somewhere they can live. Azgeda is a good idea, but it wasn't rebuilt after the war, a lot of houses were destroyed. We won't be able to stay long."
"I know," Lexa says. "We will need to find something more permanent. Yet it has to be far enough away from Mount Weather."
"We will find something. We'll find a way to keep going and Mount Weather will pay for what had happened to them."
"Will you stay with me for a little while, Octavia?" Lexa asks.
"Yeah."
Cage's P.O.V
Cage sat inside of his office as there was a knock on the door. He looks up and motions Nia inside. "Well?" Nia asks.
"Our scouts will be returning soon, but we do know that all missiles hit their targets. We do not know if the Commander survived or not. I do know that the tower that they keep their children with nightblood as you call it. The tower was destroyed, I imagine all of them died when it fell."
"Good," Nia says as she sits down. "What is our next step?"
"We wait," Cage says. "We've crippled them, they'll run and hide and when the rest of the people from the Ark fall, we'll take them in, and we'll finish off whoever survived. We've already won, Nia. Now we are just waiting for our enemies to bleed out."
"I could leave, find them and kill them."
"I need you here, you are too valuable to our cause, we wouldn't have been able to do this without you. We've trusted each other so far and it has turned out pretty well for us. Just sit back and relax, let's enjoy some of the peace those missiles have given us."
"Fine," Nia says as she stands up and leaves the room.
Murphy's P.O.V
Murphy climbs off his horse and looks at Clarke as she looked at Tondc. "Why are we here?" Murphy asks.
"They will want to know who died, or at least try to confirm that Lexa was among them, I imagine that means they would send some their people to look at the villages. Now all we have to do is wait," Clarke says as she sits against the tree, "Why did you agree to do this, John."
"Because I'm useful here that I am with them," John says. "Even with their training, most of the people who came with Kane are not killers, they are good people who will not do what we have to do to get the information that we're going to need to defeat Mount Weather."
"But you're a killer? How you ever killed anybody, John?" Clarke asks.
"I killed Shumway," Murphy says. "I put a bullet in his forehead, I haven't killed as many as you have princess, but I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. You aren't either, that is what's going to make us a good team."
Clarke nods as they hear voices. Clarke and Murphy move behind the threes as two guards from Mount Weather into the village in Hazemat suits. "I have a plan this time," Clarke says and Murphy nods as Clarke goes to here horse and grabs a bow.
"You know how to use that?" Murphy asks Clarke who nods as she grabs and arrow and pulls it back, she fires the arrow into one of their chest sending the man to the ground as the other who grabs his gun and looks around.
"Drop it," Clarke says. "Drop it, or you will die in agony."
"Okay," He says as he slowly lowers his gun. Clarke and Murphy emerge from the woods as Murphy goes up to him and grabs his suit.
"It's time we have a chat," Murphy says with a smirk.
Roan's P.O.V
Roan and Luna carried a stretcher is Raven on it. "You could put me on a horse," Raven says.
"All the moving could make your leg worse," Luna says. "I'm doing fine, how about you, Roan?"
"Doing great," Roan says. "You think Lexa actually has a plan?"
"You don't?" Raven asks.
"I wouldn't," Roan says. "No of us could have planned for this, we never knew the Mountain men even had these kinds of weapons. We still don't know what they have that we don't know about."
"That is why Lexa sent Clarke and Murphy after them, maybe they'll be able to figure that out," Luna says. "Right now we need to get everybody to Azgeda and after that, we'll all figure out our next move."
"Hopefully Murphy and Clarke are doing good then," Raven says as she lays back.
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke stood in front of the Mount weather soldier. He was tied to a chair. "Do you have a name?" Murphy asks.
"Kenny," Kenny says.
"I'm Murphy and this is Clarke Griffin."
"You are with the savage Commander," Kenny says as he looks at Clarke who nods.
"I am," Clarke says. "Call her a savage again and I'll cut a hole in that suit of yours," Clarke says. "Your missiles killed my mother, killed my friend's daughter, it killed children. How did you know where to send the missiles, how did you know about us?"
"Go to hell," Kenny growls. Clarke nods as she pushes her knife up against the suit.
"All I have to do is put one hole in this suit, and you will die in agony. You're going to die today, Kenny. You have one choice now, it can be quick and painless or I can stretch it out for hours, by the end you'll be begging me for a painless death, now I am going to ask one more time, how did you know, where did you get all of the locations of the villages?"
"The queen," Kenny says. "The Ice Queen, Nia."
"Looks like that bitch is working with them," Murphy says and Clarke nods.
"Who other weapons do you have?" Clarke asks.
"Please..."
Clarke sighs as she stabs her knife into his leg and he screams. "What other weapons?" She shouts.
"We control the fog, and the reapers," Kenny cries out. "We make them, we inject them with a drug. That's all, I swear it."
"How many more missiles do you have?" Murphy asks.
"I don't know."
"He's telling the truth," Clarke says as she pulls the knife out of his leg. She grabs his suit and cuts a hole in the middle of it.
"You promised me a painless death," Kenny says.
"My mother didn't get one, none of you will," Clarke says as she grabs his gun, radio, and his bag before she walks away. Murphy follows her out as Kenny begins to scream.
"I assume we aren't going back," Murphy says.
"No. We're going to go see the reapers," Clarke says as she grabs the other one's radio and rifle. She holds it out to Murphy who takes it.
"I thought you didn't use guns," Murphy says.
"Their missile changed the rules," Clarke says as she tucks the pistol in the back of her pants. "You can go back if you wish, I don't know what we are walking into."
"You want me to miss all the fun, Princess?"
"I don't want you to die."
"I'm a cockroach, I'm not very easy to kill," Murphy says. "Are you coming."
"Yeah," Clarke says as she starts to follow him.
"Kenny, check in," Cage says over the radio.
"Clarke," Murphy says as she grabs the radio.
"Kenny isn't going to be answering his radio," Clarke says.
"Who do I have the pleasure of speaking to then?" Cage asks.
"My name is Clarke Griffin."
"You're the Commander's bitch, good to finally put a voice to the name. I assuming my men are dead, sadly you are not. Clarke, all of this is really simple, I've already won, now all I ask is that you end this war."
"How would you like me to do that?"
"Kill your girlfriend, we can call a truth, nobody else has to die."
"You're going to die, Nia is going to die, every person in that fucking Mountain is going to die, I promise you that," Clarke growls. "You haven't won this war. It's just beginning."
"I'll guess we'll see; I hope to meet you face to face, Clarke. Before I kill you," Cage says before the radio goes silent.
"You just gave away our element of surprise," Murphy says.
"We don't need it," Clarke says as she walks forward and Murphy follows her.
Dante's P.O.V
Dante sat in his room watching the wall as the door opened and a tray of food was brought in. "Maya," Dante says making the girl look at him. "I would like to ask a favor of you. I know I am no longer your leader, but I need your help."
"What is it?" Maya asks.
"I need to speak with Nia, could you ask her to come and see me without my son's knowledge."
"Yes," Maya says.
"Thank you, my dear," Dante says as he grabs the food and Maya leaves the room.
Thanks for reading. Next chapter Lexa arrives at Azgeda to meet a former enemy, Clarke and Murphy go after the reapers and Dante tries to use Nia to his advantage. As always suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
