Chapter 38-The Reaper tunnel
Lexa's P.O.V
Lexa looks at the ice castle as she stops in front of it. She looks at Anya. "Start getting everybody set up, bring the injured inside and get them set up in the biggest room you can find," Lexa tells her general who nods as she looks at Ontari. "Ontari, you and Roan need to lead a hunting party, bring out as much food as possible, you guys know the land better than anybody else," Lexa tells Ontari and Roan who nod. "The rest of us will work towards making this place a temporary home," Lexa says as she climbs off her horse and walks up the stairs until she reaches the door. She pushes it open as Octavia and Lincoln walk up behind her. She walks into the large room and stops when she sees a woman sitting on the throne. "Who are you?"
"My name is, Ruby," Ruby says. "I am a former assassin for Nia," Ruby tells her. "I left her service during the war," Ruby says as she stands up.
"What are you doing here?" Octavia asks.
"I've been living here," Ruby says. "Don't worry, I'm not looking for any trouble, the throne is yours," Ruby says as she stands. "You won't even know I'm here," She says as she walks out of the room.
"Keep an eye on her," Lexa tells Lincoln who nods. "Let's get to work."
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke sat against a tree staring at a piece of Lincoln's book. "How does Lincoln's book help us?" Murphy asks.
"Lincoln traveled a lot, he's been inside of the caves and he made maps of the areas he was in, I asked him for this before I left," Clarke says. "There is a cave about an hour from here that should have some reapers."
Murphy nods as Clarke puts the journal in her bag. "We are going to be out numbered," Murphy says.
"That is why we have guns," Clarke says. "We're not here to kill them all Murphy. Kenny said they injected them with drugs. We might be able to save them so, we kill enough of them and then we take one of them prisoner. We're going to try and cure them," Clarke says as she grabs a taster out of her bag. "One of them guards had this on them, I imagine they used them to keep them under control, now we are going to use it," Clarke says as she puts her bag on back. "Let's go, John."
"I'm with you, Princess," Murphy says as she follows her.
Lexa's P.O.V
Lexa stood in Nia's former war room. She looks at the door as there was a knock. "Come in," Lexa says and Jake walks in.
"You need help with anything?" Jake asks.
"Maybe," Lexa says as she sits down. "I'm down a flame keeper with no trained. I can train Aden and Ontari but we need a flame keeper.
"Can you train one?" Jake asks Lexa who nods. "Then we'll have to find one," Jake says as he sits down.
"We need one before Jaha falls and before we fight Mount Weather," Lexa says.
"Why?" Jake asks.
"Because a flame keeper is the only person who can take the flame out of me."
"What do you mean?" Jake asks.
"Lift up my hair," Lexa tells Jake who looks at her confused as he stands up and walks behind her. He moves her hair away from her neck and sees the scar on her neck. "When a Commander dies, the flame has to be removed and put into the next Commander."
Jake sits across from Lexa. "So you have the...Flame in the back of your neck."
"Yes," Lexa says.
"Make me your next Flamekeeper," Jake says.
"I appreciate that, Jake, but I need you to lead Skaikru. But I might know someone in Skaikru who could I could teach," Lexa says. "Not too many of people want to give up fighting to be a flamekeeper."
"Who?"
Harper's P.O.V
Harper walked down the stairs of the castle and finds Costia staring into a cell. "How did you find me?" Costia asks.
"I asked Lincoln where I could find the cells," Harper says as she walks up behind her. "This is where she held you?"
"Yes, for 4 years this cell was my home, every day as bad as the last," Costia says as she looks at Harper. "Safe to say, I'm not happy about being back here."
"This time you aren't alone, you have friends," Harper tells her. "Nia is gone and when we find her, she will die, she will never hurt you again."
"Thanks," Costia says. "Come on, let's get out of here," Harper nods as she follows her and they go up the stairs.
Nia's P.O.V
Nia walked into Dante's cell and looked at the former president of Mount Weather. "You do know there is a camera in here," Nia says as she looks at the computer.
"I still have friends, Nia. My son will not know about this conversation. Unless you tell him," Dante says. "You helped him with the missiles?"
"I did," Nia says.
"Did it have the desired effect?" Dante asks.
"Well, Lexa and her bitch, Clarke are still alive, so no it did not but it did kill plenty of other people and most if not all of her nightbloods, so it was good enough for me."
"It seems that you and Cage share a want for war," Dante says. "Yet you must suspect my son does not mean to keep you in his service."
"He wouldn't get rid of me, he needs me to defeat, Lexa," Nia says. "Is that why you asked me here, Dante. To speak lies, to try and turn me against, Cage."
"I only wish to stop further bloodshed."
"Yet you are the one who has been draining my people of blood for decades," Nia says. "I do believe this conversation is over, enjoy your cell, Dante," Nia says before she walks out of the room.
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke and Murphy walked through the tunnels with torches. "You really think this will work?" Murphy asks Clarke who shrugs her shoulders.
"I don't know, but if we can figure out a way to save the reapers, it will take a weapon away from Mount Weather. If they are drugging them, it means they have a way to enter Mount Weather from these tunnels," Clarke says as they hear voice. Both of them crouch down and move towards them, they see a group of about a dozen reapers eating a body. Clarke sets her torch down and pulls the gun out of her pocket.
"You know how to use that princess?" Murphy whispers.
"Yes," Clarke says. "Are you ready?"
"Yep, keep one alive," Murphy says as he pulls the rifle off his back and stands up. He whistles making the reapers look at them. Clarke fires off the first shot hitting one of them in the chest. The reapers run towards them as Murphy and Clarke cut them down with bullets. Murphy shoots the second to last one as Clarke throws her gun to the ground and removes one of her swords. She hits the reapers sword away for her and grabs his hair with her other hand. She throws him to the ground and Murphy hits him in the face with the butt of his gun.
"Let's get him out of her before more of them show up," Clarke tells Murphy who nods as he helps Clarke pick the reaper up and they move quickly to get out of the tunnel.
Lexa's P.O.V
Lexa was looking at a map of Azgeda when the door opened and Monty walked in. "You asked to see me, Commander," Monty says and Lexa nods as she motions for Monty to sit down.
"These last couple of days have been hard, Monty. We've lost a lot and I believe you can help me recover some of what was lost."
"How?"
"I have lost two flamekeepers in a matter of months and I have no one left to be a flamekeeper. I will have to train a new one and I wish that to be you."
"Why me? I'm not a grounder?"
"You were not born on the ground, that is true but you are one of us. Monty being a flamekeeper means you put your sword down. No many of them fight, unless they have no other choice, the flamekeeper is just as important as the Commander. The two of them go together, you are not a violent person, you do not wish to kill, I can see that, but you are intelligent, I do believe that you will be good for this, but of course it is your choice," Lexa tells him.
"If I was to accept, what would I do?"
"You would stand in for me if both Clarke and I were away, you would teach the new nightbloods our away, you will remove the flame from me when I die," Lexa says.
"I know nothing about your history, Lexa."
"I will teach it to you, I will have help, truth is not many of us do. Take the night to think about it Monty, you do not need to make a choice right now. We still have a lot to do before we will need a flamekeeper and I have no plans of dying anytime soon," Lexa tells Monty who nods as he stands up and leaves the room.
Murphy's P.O.V
Murphy ties a chain to the reapers arm and attaches it to the wall. "Where did you get these?"
"They keep cells here," Clarke says as she moves away from the reaper.
"Now what?" Murphy asks.
"Now we wait, he will be going through withdraws without that drug, hopefully he won't die from it and when it over, hopefully he will be his old self, whoever he was," Clarke tells Murphy who nods as he sits against the wall.
"Even if this does work, it will take us a long time to save all of those reapers," Murphy says.
"I know," Clarke says. "But he might have some information that can help, something he learned before turned into this."
"Hopefully you are right," Murphy says as he opens his eyes. "He's awake, let the show begin."
Cage's P.O.V
Cage sat in his office when the door opened and Emerson walked in. "What is it?"
"A group of reapers was just found dead, all of them shot," Emerson tells him.
"What of it?" Cage asks.
"One of their weapons was found on the ground away from the others. We think one of them was taken."
"So?" Cage asks.
"They could be trying to figure out a way to convert them back to their old selves."
"They won't, they aren't smart enough."
"Clarke Griffin may be, are you sure we should take that chance," Emerson asks.
"Fine, sent out five men to kill them," Cage tells Emerson who nods as he leaves. "This blond bitch is proving to be a problem."
Nia's P.O.V
Nia walks into the rooms that they held the grounders and walked up to Echo's cell. "My queen?" Nia asks.
"Hello, Echo. It seems that I require your help," Nia says as she puts a key in her cell. In two days, you will open this cage and release as many of our people as possible. Is that understood?"
Echo nods as Nia leaves the room.
Thanks for reading. Next chapter Lexa and Octavia look for a new home while Monty makes a decision, Clarke and Murphy fight back against Mount Weather and try to save the reaper. As always suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
