Chapter 11
authors note : There will be no cheating or kidnapping. There is more to Lucas's motivation for leaving. But his career is the biggest part.
"Me leaving for a few months won't change this family. I'm going to call and video chat as much as i can." Lucas replied. Wanting to reassure her.
"How soon are you leaving?" Brooke asked.
"In the morning. I'll be on the plane by the time you wake up." Lucas replied.
"I should let you keep packing then. I'm going to go check in on Simon." Brooke replied.
"I love you." Lucas said. Engulfing her into a hug. And kissing her gently.
"I love you too. I want updates on our boy. The baby. You." Lucas said.
Brooke nodded her head in agreement. And left their bedroom.
She sighed deeply. Getting her cellphone and sitting down in the nursery. They wanted to keep the gender of the baby a surprise.
Brooke had put together a list of boy and girl names.
Lucas had been so invested in finishing off his newest novel he hadn't put together a list of his own yet.
Brooke placed her hand on her belly.
"Momma will do all she can for you and you're brother."
"I love the both of you so much." Brooke said.
She put a smile on her face as the request for a video call was accepted.
"Hi momma!" Simon exclaimed.
Just hearing Simon's voice put her in a better mood.
Hours Later
Brooke awoke alone. In their bedroom.
She sighed deeply. Getting out of bed. Taking a shower. Getting dressed. Maing breakfast for herself.
Before leaving the home. She would pick up Simon from school later on today. Then it would be the 3 of them for some time.
Yes she had Karen. And their friends. But they all had lives of their own. Karen had her cafe and Keith.
She would handle this but if she needed help she would reach out for it.

When Lucas landed and went to the hotel he would be staying in.
He was surprised to be met with his editor.
"This is you're schedule. A few days here. A few days there."
"This will be an eventful yet important time. Everyone in the writing world will know who you are and more importantly what you are capable of." Cole Ryan explained.
"It'll all get done. I went about it the wrong way."
"I told my wife last minute. I should know better then that." Lucas replied.
"She will understand and get over it. You know how women can be. No one will label you as Brooke Davis's husband anymore. And that is what we want." Cole replied.
As he made his way towards the exit door.
Lucas clutched the schedule and made his way towards the elevator.

Simon's eyes went wide as he listened to his mom explain where his dad was and how long he would be gone.
"That's a whole summer!" Simon exclaimed.
The expression on her face softened.
"Me and you are going to be just fine. He's going to reach out to us as much as he can." Brooke explained.
"That's not the same!" Simon exclaimed. Wrapping his arms around himself as he started to pout.
Brooke made her way out of the driver's seat and unbuckled him.

Days Later
It had one week. And Lucas had made it back to his hotel suite.
With enough energy to shower and rest.
And the routine continued. For a month.
"Brooke. How are you. Simon. The baby?" Lucas questioned.
As he stared up at the video chat screen.
The expresson on her face hardened.
