Blood And Bridges
Chapter 14
By the time I made it back to Tree Hill. My editor's predictions about how this would affect my career were proven right.
My first novel went up in purchases. My second novel was flying off shelves. I was already being encouraged to start working on a third.
Which i would get too at a later date. Right now all i wanted to focus on was my family.
He left the airport and found Brooke waiting outside her car.
Lucas engulfed her into his arms and kissed her hard.
Brooke kissed him back.
Their eyes locked on each other. He caressed her face.
Ran his hands through her hair.
"Do you have any idea how much i missed you?" Lucas asked.
"I missed you more." Brooke said.
"You are so perfect. Look at you." Lucas said. Reaching over touching her baby bump.
Brooke smile beamed. She was glowing.
"I'm 28 weeks. 7 months. I have 2 months left."
"The baby kicks and moves so much now." Brooke said.
Lucas put his suitcase into the trunk. And insisted he drive them home.
Brooke was in position to fight him on it.
"The doctor wants me to keep track of kicks now." Brooke mentioned.
The drive home was full of Brooke filling Lucas in on what he missed during his time away.
Once he got back home. Simon engulfed his dad into a hug.
"I missed you my boy." Lucas said. As he let the young boy go from his arms.
"Honey dinner won't be for a couple hours. Why don't you go play in the backyard?" Brooke suggested.
"Okay momma." Simon replied.
Once the couple were alone. Brooke sat down and got comfortable.
Resting her hand on her belly.
"While you were away. Taylor showed up here wanting to meet and have a relationship with Simon."
"I told her how i felt. You told her already."
"Why won't she let this go?" Brooke replied.
Lucas swallowed hard. "What you don't know is that while i was away. I explained this whole Taylor situation to Peyton." Lucas started to say.
"Why would you seek Peyton out for insight or advice?" Brooke questioned.
"She went through this. Her adopted mom. Ellie. She thinks there is no reason why we should create such a barrier around the truth."
"At the very least her getting to know him wouldn't be a bad thing." Lucas explained.
"Oh my god. Yes it would be. Simon is a little boy. Who's only ever known me as his mom! some random stranger being brought into his life is not the right decision."
"I don't want to talk about this again." Brooke exclaimed.
As she got up and left the living room.
