Sketch 12:

Two days later, at Dr. Zeruda's cabin...

There's a knock on the door. Dr. Zeruda answers the door.

Dr. Zeruda asks, "hello. Who are you?"

Jack Hench is at the door. He has a silvery briefcase.

Jack Hench introduces himself, "I'm a upstanding business man. The name is Jack Hench. CEO of HenchCo."

He shakes Dr. Zeruda's hand.

Then... Jack Hench quickly puts hand sanitizer on his hands.

Jack Hench sits down at a wood table. Dr. Zeruda sits down on the other side of the table.

All too lightly... Jack Hench continues, "I saw in the news what your Phoebus ray can do for one guy. Imagine what it could do for plenty of supervil... I mean, everyday heroes. I know the United States military just have your device for safekeeping to try to keep it from falling into the hands of supervillains. I'd like to buy the rights to your device for three million dollars. Do we have a deal?"

Dr. Zeruda awkwardly explains, "um... I'm sorry Jack. I wish I thought of getting that kind of money earlier. But, I already sold the rights to the Phoebus ray two years ago."

Jack Hench looks wide eyed in shock.

He asks, "what?"

Dr. Zeruda pinpoints, "if you checked the fine print with the military? You would have known I sold it to Franklin Barkin for a lifetime supply of wine and beer. He and his son have military connections. That's why the Phoebus ray has been with the military for safekeeping. Franklin Barkin has been offering people temporary genius intellect for years in exchange for helping out around his village. I don't think that's a good business model. But, he didn't ask me."

Jack Hench heavily sighs.

Dr. Zeruda asks, "would you like a beer? It might help."

He hands Jack Hench a beer bottle. Jack Hench takes it.

And... Jack Hench just says, "make it three."
