Chapter 38: Saffron City Gym Rematch Clyde vs Sabrina

Clyde nodded and went to stand where Ronnie Anne was. Ronnie Anne had recalled Mightyena and started to walk to Lynn. As the two passed one another, she wished him good luck. As Clyde got in position and hype himself up, Ronnie Anne stood beside Lynn.

"Good job out there," Lynn said looking at the girl. "You actually strategized and executed it well. You even got Poochyena to evolve. Keep this up and you just might be on my level." She then put on a teasing smirk. "In a couple of years I mean."

"Ha ha, very funny," Ronnie Anne replied with an eye roll and playful smile. "Just you watch, I'll reach your level soon enough. Still, Poochyena evolving wasn't something I was expecting." Lynn turned to look back at the battlefield, but not before smiling at the girl and giving her a light jab to the shoulder. This action caused the girl to blush and look away, but with a smile.

"This is an official match between Sabrina of the Saffron City Gym and Clyde McBride from Royal Woods. Both trainers will be able to use three Pokemon, with only the challenger being able to switch out Pokemon. The battle is over when all of someone's Pokemon is unable to battle or one forfeits. The match begins now."

"Go Slowpoke," Sabrina said, sending out her Pokemon.

"You're up Alcremie!" Clyde shouted, sending out his newly evolved Pokemon. "Start things off with Sweet Kiss!"

"Use Zen Headbutt!" Sabrina ordered.

Slowpoke's head started to glow and it charged towards its opponent. Alcremie was able to avoid the attack and hit it with her Sweet Kiss, confusing Slowpoke.

"Now hit it with Magical Leaf!" The young trainer shouted.

"Use Light Screen!" The gym leader ordered.

Slowpoke attempted to put up its Light Screen, but tripped and hurt itself. While Alcremie created several glowing leafs and shot them at her opponent. Slowpoke couldn't do anything but take the hit.

"Use Yawn and Disable!" Sabrina commanded.

"Quickly Alcremie, use Attract and then go back to using Magical Leaf!" The African-American urgently said.

Alcremie stopped her attack and winked at Slowpoke, sending a red energy heart. Before the Dopey Pokemon could get the Yawn off, the heart hit it and stopped its attack. Soon the Cream Pokemon resumed her Magical Leaf attack, resulting in her opponent fainting.

"Slowpoke is unable to battle," the referee announced. "The winner is Alcremie." Clyde started cheering and congratulating Alcremie, Ronnie Anne was loudly cheering, and Lynn was smiling while clapping.

"That's one down," Ronnie Anne muttered to herself. Lynn said nothing, only nodding in agreement.

Sabrina recalled Slowpoke and prepared to send her next Pokemon. "Go Jynx," she said, releasing her second Pokemon.

"Alright Alcremie, use Dazzling Gleam!" The male trainer shouted.

"Take the hit and use Sing!" Sabrina calming said.

The Cream Pokemon let out a dazzling pink light hitting her opponent. Unfortunately it didn't do a lot of damage. Jynx then started to sing, and like before everyone started to feel drowsy with Alcremie falling to sleep.

"Now use Psychic!" The gym leader ordered.

Just like in the last battle, Alcremie was picked up by an unseen force and slammed into the ground. She woke up after the first time, but was unable to move.

"Alcremie, try to use Magical Leaf!" Clyde said worryingly.

Hearing her trainer's voice, she focused enough to get the attack off. Jynx did nothing and took the hit, focusing on using Psychic on her opponent. Soon enough, Alcremie couldn't take anymore and fainted.

"Alcremie is unable to battle," the referee announced. "The winner is Jynx." Clyde was a little disappointed, but thanked Alcremie before returning her to her pokeball. Ronnie Anne and Lynn looked a little crestfallen, but knew this was going to happen.

After taking a deep breath, Clyde grabbed his next pokeball. "You're up, Misdreavus!" He shouted releasing the Ghost Pokemon. "Start things with Destiny Bond!" This got a wide eyed expression from Sabrina and Lynn, and a confused look from Ronnie Anne.

"What's Destiny Bond?" Ronnie Anne asked her mentor.

"If the user of Destiny Bond faints, then the one who did it will also faint," Lynn replied with a serious expression. Hearing this caused the younger girl's eyes to widen. "It's similar to your Murkrow's Perish Song, only a little better since it won't guarantee both Pokemon go down. Regardless, it seems like Clyde is planning to take Jynx out no matter what."

"Use Confusion!" The gym leader commanded, features returning to normal.

"Try to dodge it and use Hex!" The male trainer shouted.

Jynx pulled her hands together and shot a beam of psychedelic colors from them. Misdreavus just barely avoided the attack, before dark energy came off his body and shot towards the Human Shape Pokemon. Again Jynx didn't attempt to avoid the attack and took the hit. She winced, but stayed standing.

"Use Psychic!" Sabrina ordered, still showing no emotions.

"Try to hit it with a Shadow Ball!" The boy shouted urgently.

Misdreavus quickly shot off a Shadow Ball, only for Jynx to dodge the attack. The Screech Pokemon was then in Jynx's psychic grasp and repeatedly slammed into the battlefield. Misdreavus tried firing another Shadow Ball, only for it to be shot completely off target. Soon it became too much and he fainted. Not long after, a dark aura surrounded Jynx and she fainted as well.

"Both Pokemon are unable to battle," the referee announced. Clyde thanked Misdreavus before returning him his pokeball. Lynn and Ronnie Anne did nothing, not knowing what to do.

"They're both on their last Pokemon," Ronnie Anne said worried.

"This is the true test for McBride," Lynn said, completely focused on this battle.

"Go Hypno," The psychic gym leader said, sending out her last Pokemon. What came out was a yellow bipedal creature with white fur around its neck.

"Hypno huh, okay you're up Blissey!" Clyde shouted, sending out his last Pokemon. "Start things off with Shadow Ball!"

"Use Nasty Plot and the Poison Gas!"

Hypno started to meditate while glowing dark purple. Blissey took this opportunity to fire and hit it with her Shadow Ball. While it hit, Hypno showed no reaction. The glowing stopped and it opened its eyes, it then started to release purple gas from its mouth. The gas moved towards Blissey, but she was able to avoid it.

"Now Blissey, hit it with a Thunder Punch and Drain Punch!" Clyde commanded.

"Use Nasty Plot again and when it gets close use Psybeam!" Sabrina ordered.

The Hypnosis Pokemon started to meditate again, while Blissey charged towards her opponent. Blissey landed the Thunder Punch and again, Hypno showed no reaction. Just as she was about to hit with the Drain Punch, Hypno's eyes opened. It then put its hands together, shooting and hitting Blissey with a beam of pink energy. The attack sent the Happiness Pokemon flying back, but she was able to get back up.

"Use Shadow Ball again!" Clyde commanded.

"Use Light Screen and then Psychic!" Sabrina ordered.

Hypno was about to put up its Light Screen, but suddenly couldn't move. It had become paralyzed from the Thunder Punch. Blissey made a Shadow Ball and shot it, hitting the Hypnosis Pokemon. Hypno was sent flying from the attack and was knocked out.

"Hypno is unable to battle" the referee announced while holding their hand on Clyde's side up in the air. "Blissey is the winner and Clyde has won the match." Clyde and Blissey ran to each other and started to hug and cheer together. Ronnie Anne was loudly cheering, while Lynn was smiling widely and clapping.

Sabrina recalled Hypno, her expression never changing. "Congratulations, you earned the Marsh Badge," she commented as she floated the badge to Clyde with her psychic abilities. The boy thanked her and then she turned and walked off.

"Way to go Clyde!" Ronnie Anne congratulated while slapping a hand on his back.

"Thanks Ronnie Anne, honestly I wasn't sure I was going to win," Clyde said bashfully, after calling back Blissey.

"Good work you two," Lynn said to both her students, and a smile on her face. "Now that you both got your badges, let go and resupply. Then after that let's go somewhere to eat, my treat." Both younger teens loudly cheered and agreed. With a plan made, the 3 trainers left the gym.

[Fuchsia City]

Within a large building that looks like a traditional dojo stood 2 people and a Pokemon. One was Lincoln Loud with Wolfbane beside him, and across from him was a man with black spiky hair. He wore an dark ninja outfits, along with a red scarf. This was Koga, the Fuchsia City Gym Leader. In between them on the battlefield was a knocked out Drapion and a exhausted Jean Grey, Lincoln's Gardevoir.

"You fought hard young man," the gym leader said with a stoic expression, recalling his Drapion. He then made his way over to his challenger. "You have proven yourself worthy of holding the Soul Badge." He then gave him a pink badge that looked like a heart.

"Thank you," Lincoln said sincerely, accepting the badge. Koga nods and then walks off. Lincoln calls Jean back and starts to leave the gym with Wolfbane following.
