"I'm starting to think Truth is trying to sabotage me," Mike mumbles, laying on his stomach on a lawnchair. "For awhile, things were ok, but then we won the tag titles, and it all went to hell so quickly." He presses his face into the sunwarmed fabric and groans.
John stares sympathetically at him and shrugs. "Sorry, man. I know he's a pain in the ass to deal with, especially for extended periods of time."
Mike sighs, then squints an eye open and looks over at him. "What was up with the commentators on ROH this week?"
"What do you mean?"
"They were giving you shit about Taya making you wear high heels," he scoffs into his arms, shaking his head.
John quirks an eyebrow. "Who said that? Caprice?"
"I think so," he mumbles. "I don't really know their voices."
"It was probably Caprice," John says, rolling his eyes. "Meh, I think I looked kickass in those shoes."
"I'm sure you did," Mike says, starting to drift off.
"You're really falling asleep on me," John laughs, teasingly poking him in the arm. "Should I get AJ to carry you to bed?"
Mike huffs. "Shut up," he mumbles sleepily.
"Make me," John says lazily, leaning back in his chair and staring up at the sky, turning a deep indigo shade as the sun starts to set. He turns his head and looks at Mike with a small smile. "You know it's been over 13 years since I first left WWE. The fact that we're still friends... it's impressive, really. Especially considering this business."
Mike squints over at him, yawning into his fist. "Yeah," he muses. "I'm glad you're still here."
"I'm glad too." John smiles at him and Mike offers him a sleepy smile in return before resting his head against his arm and dozing off.
John sighs and closes his eyes. "I'll get you up in a few minutes," he murmurs, feeling sleep beginning to tug at him as well. "Ugh, contagious..." he manages to get out before his eyes close and his body relaxes, both men fast asleep on neighboring lawn chairs.
Taya and AJ come out, talking and laughing, before they realize, shushing each other with giggles. "Look at our cute little boys," Taya coos.
"Aren't they precious?" The two look at each other and laugh before going back inside to let the men sleep in peace for a little longer.
