Chapter 2

When Kaori came into his life, Naruto truly wasn't expecting it. Although he wasn't against having children, he had taken precautions to avoid it. He simply wasn't ready to see them die, maybe sometime in the future, but for now, he wasn't prepared.

As always, his plans didn't go as imagined. One day, a woman approached him, holding a small bundle, which turned out to be a baby — a girl, to be exact.

Naruto vaguely remembered the woman. She was what they called a lancer or something like that. He had slept with her a while ago in a moment of weakness, and apparently, that had been enough for her to get pregnant.

"My king, I present to you your daughter."

Naruto knew he loved that girl from the first moment she opened her eyes. Her slanted red eyes reflected his, which had shifted from their sky blue to a crimson red. There was no doubt she was his daughter. She had his blonde hair, though streaked with some white strands, and a few features from her mother. But the rest was undoubtedly Naruto.

Moreover, he sensed a small flame of chakra within her.

"Does she have a name?" he asked softly while holding the baby in his arms. The lancer shook her head.

"Then from this day forth, she shall bear the name Kaori Uzumaki, princess of Uzu."

The people of the city celebrated the name of the newly baptized princess with joy. Fifteen years had passed since then, and now Kaori had undoubtedly grown into a lively and powerful young woman — a girl who reminded him of himself when he was young, though less of an airhead. She had inherited his blonde hair, with streaks of white revealing the presence of divine chakra in her veins. There was nothing he wouldn't do for her. Kaori's mother, Munda, had passed away some years ago in a surprise attack by cannibals. Naruto had made sure to avenge her, but even so, Kaori had felt the weight of her mother's absence.

So, when his little princess told him she liked the dragon Balerion as a pet, he gave it to her as a gift. Of course, this was after sending Maegor Targaryen and his army to the afterlife.

Now he watched his princess pamper the beast as if it were a common cat.

"Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy?" her sweet voice reached his ears as she stroked Balerion's massive belly.

The enormous dragon seemed to purr like a cat. However, Naruto knew better. The poor dragon was terrified — terrified of his daughter.

"Can we keep him, daddy?"

Naruto sighed, but he couldn't help the smile that spread across his face.

"I already told you yes, Kaori-chan," he reminded her. "Now, let's go back inside. It will be dark soon. Say goodbye to Balerion."

It seemed like Kaori wanted to protest, but in the end, she pouted and nodded.

"Alright. Very well, Balerion, you can go, but don't stray too far, and please, don't burn any villages! Got it?"

The dragon probably didn't understand, as they only responded to Valyrian. But to Naruto's surprise, the dragon seemed to understand his daughter's words perfectly. Balerion rose into the skies, beating his wings until he disappeared from view.

Naruto hoped the dragon wouldn't try to escape. If that happened, his daughter would be very sad, and if that happened, that enormous lizard might as well be dead.

"Come on, daddy! I want ramen for dinner tonight!" His little princess hung from his arm, her bright red eyes looking up at him.

Naruto chuckled softly.

"Alright, sweetheart."

And with that, Naruto and his daughter disappeared from the scene in a flash of yellow, leaving behind what appeared to be a war zone — a large piece of scorched earth, with only armor left scattered over the ashes…

The memories of the clone he had sent to Maegor's nephew, Jaehaerys, had dissipated, and the memories of the now-young king reached his mind. He could be sure that the Targaryens wouldn't bother him for a while, although he didn't have high hopes. After all, he now had one of their dragons, and though Naruto had the courtesy to return the sword Blackfyre, a sword was no comparison to a dragon. He only hoped they wouldn't give him reasons to test his patience.

But he decided not to think about that now. He was in his room, looking at his daughter, who was peacefully curled up beside him. It was a habit of hers to sneak into his chambers, and over the years, Naruto couldn't deny her anything.

Although Kaori was sweet and seemingly naïve, it was just a facade — well, for the most part. Kaori was powerful, a prodigy in all martial arts and shinobi techniques. Naruto had seen to that. He couldn't allow his daughter's power to go unrefined. She had to know how to defend herself, and at this point, he doubted anyone could harm her.

She was a goddess in the making, and Naruto was relieved. He didn't know if he could bear seeing Kaori wither away and die. She was the light of his eyes, his anchor, and he would go mad if he lost her.

Then, a sudden wave of information hit him, and his previously soft expression turned serious. One of his clones in Hardhome had dissipated. Apparently, a group of slavers had managed to sneak into his lands and tried to burn and loot the city. They failed, of course. The defenses crushed them, and the soldiers of Uzu successfully defended the city.

"Tyrosh, huh?" he muttered to himself. "Perhaps I should pay them a visit soon."

--

...Not believing the whispered reports, the elected Archon of Tyrosh decided to send an incursion into the lands beyond the Wall, now known as Uzu, a simple task that had worked before to obtain cheap labor from what they considered "Northern barbarians." However, the incursion failed miserably when the inhabitants of Hardhome expelled the invaders, and of the five ships that sailed north, only one returned, in terrible condition.

Days after the event, there was silence until ravens arrived at the Red Keep with news that Tyrosh had suffered a devastating attack by an unknown enemy. The Archon and other magistrates were crucified, and their corpses decorated the city's walls. Although sources claimed they didn't know where the attack had come from, it became clear that Tyrosh was attacked after their failed attempt on Uzu.

--

The doors opened before him, and Naruto walked leisurely down the hall. At the end of the path, seated on three different thrones, were the Archon and a group of magistrates. They looked at Naruto with disdain in their eyes.

"You requested an audience with us. Speak, our valuable time cannot be wasted on foreigners," said one of the magistrates. Naruto didn't even bother to learn their names.

Naruto smiled slightly.

"Don't worry, I'll be brief," he assured them calmly. "A few days ago, there was an attack from here, toward Westeros, more specifically the kingdom you know as Uzu. What I ask of you is simple. Promise here that you will never attack Uzu again, and I will grant you my mercy. Refuse, and I assure you that all that will remain of you will be your cold corpses. That, I promise, and I never break a promise."

For a moment, there was silence. The faces of the slavers showed disbelief, which quickly turned to fury and indignation.

"How dare you insult us in this way!" exclaimed one of the magistrates, the fattest of the group. "Guards, seize him. We will make an example of you, savage."

A couple of Unsullied approached Naruto, who sighed, his blue eyes turning red.

"Well, I see my mercy won't be needed here."

In the blink of an eye, the Unsullied collapsed lifeless to the floor, their throats slit. The Archon and the magistrates stared in disbelief. But Naruto didn't give them time to collect their thoughts.

"Doton: Dosekidake"

Spikes of earth emerged from the ground and impaled the Good Masters. Naruto's red eyes gazed impassively at the scene.

"Thank your gods for the mercy of a quick death. It's more than you deserved."

Then the doors opened, and a contingent of Unsullied marched toward him. Naruto's eyes glowed with fury.

--

As he contemplated the destruction he had brought upon Tyrosh, Naruto wondered when he had become like this. Was it the moment he lost all his loved ones? Was it when he absorbed the chakra of Kaguya and the other Bijuus? Perhaps it had always been in his nature. However, he found that he didn't care — he had stopped caring a long time ago.

From his vantage point atop one of the walls, he watched as the streets burned. The slaves, in the absence of their leaders and the chaos Naruto had caused, rose up for freedom. Perhaps in other times, Naruto would have found himself leading them to victory, to freedom. However, this time he merely watched.

The urge was there. Save them, screamed a voice in his head. Yet Naruto turned a deaf ear. He hadn't come to this world as a liberator, and he wouldn't become one now.

"It's time to go home. Kaori will be upset if I don't return soon," he murmured, and giving one last look at the city of Astapor, he disappeared in a flash of yellow.

--

Kaori observed the devastation her technique had caused, growling, feeling disappointed with herself.

"It's still not enough," she muttered, making another hand seal, gathering chakra, ready to attack again.

"That's enough," her father's voice echoed through the area.

"No, it's not," Kaori growled in reply, determined to continue. She felt a hand on her shoulder, and when she turned, she met her father's kind eyes.

"Don't be stubborn. Come, let's take a break. It's over for today," he whispered softly. Kaori found herself giving in.

"Alright," she grumbled.

The years had only enhanced Kaori's beauty. The young princess, now twenty years old, was desired by many. She knew very well that her father had received letters from several noble houses in Westeros, and even beyond, asking for her hand in marriage. Of course, her father had rejected every single one.

"You will decide for yourself who is the best match for you. Your destiny is yours, my sun, only yours."

She remembered her father's words. She had been deeply moved by them. Though her father had always been so loving with her, it was certainly rare to see parents in these lands who cared so much for their children, especially the nobles. She grimaced at the thought that these people sold their daughters to the highest bidder as long as it benefited them somehow. Kaori felt revulsion at the thought.

Her father was different; he understood her, cared for her, and never forced her to be something she didn't want to be. Kaori was very grateful to have him in her life. She clenched her fists, and for that, she had to become stronger, stronger than she was.

They sat, admiring the scenery. The sun was setting in the distance in a beautiful sunset. They were far from the city, in a place where once the monster known as the Night King had lived. A good place to train, and not as cold as it used to be.

"They used to say the sun never rose here," she heard her father say. "Cold and perpetual darkness were what existed in this place, where winter itself lived."

"Then you came," said Kaori as she leaned against her father, resting her head on his shoulder. "You defeated the bad guy and drove away the darkness."

Though she couldn't see it, she knew her father was smiling.

"Tell me, Kaori-chan. Why do you want to get stronger? I doubt at this point anyone, at least in this world, could even give you the slightest cut."

Kaori blinked at her father's question.

"I... I just want to get stronger."

Naruto scoffed.

"But why?" her father insisted. "There's no one who can defeat you."

"You can," Kaori quickly pointed out.

"Oh, I see. So, you want to defeat your old man, huh?"

Kaori snuggled closer to him.

"I want many things," she found herself saying.

Her father sighed.

"You've grown; you're no longer a little girl," her father said softly, feeling his sadness. "I feel like time is flying by."

"Time means little to us."

Another sigh from her father.

"Yes, you're right. Did you know I was terrified when I found out about your existence? Don't get me wrong, I was happy to be a father, but terrified of what it meant. You were a beautiful little girl, my daughter, and I was afraid, afraid knowing I would see you wither away and die. I didn't think I could bear it. I remember how relieved I was when I felt the divine chakra coursing through your body. I was happy and then felt guilty. Was I being selfish, wanting you not to die, wanting you to be immortal like me? You would see your loved ones die, and you'd only have your grumpy father as a companion."

Kaori hugged her father.

"Don't say that. I'm happy to share eternity with you; never doubt that," she said with conviction. "As long as you're by my side, that's more than enough."

Her father returned the hug.

"I'm also happy to share eternity with you, Kaori-chan."

Kaori clung to her father, feeling the warmth of his body mix with her own. Her mind betrayed her as a memory struck her.

"Before your father came here, the Free Folk had a tradition. Men or women could try to steal a person they considered worthy to be their partner. The person being stolen could defend themselves to avoid being taken. If they didn't, that person would become the husband or wife of whoever stole them. Even though your father didn't force us to change our customs, our people eventually opted for more traditional and common marriages, but it's still practiced occasionally."

She remembered Manda's words, a young lancer, and a blush covered her face. There was only one person in this world Kaori considered worthy of her affections, but she doubted she could steal him—at least not yet.

"I have to become strong enough," she thought with conviction.

--

In the following years, Uzu remained in relative harmony. Naruto's warning to Jaehaerys seemed to have been taken seriously. No Targaryen dared to set foot in the lands beyond the Wall. No one mentioned the savage kingdom, and the rest were content to ignore it. However, no one could ignore its growth in trade with Essos and the Free Cities. Several noble houses tried to win the favor of the so-called Immortal King and his daughter, the Bloody Princess. However, no one succeeded in influencing either of them.

They were worshiped as gods, something that undoubtedly infuriated the Faith of the Seven, but no one could refute the fact that both had the powers of one. On one of their trips, the king and his daughter made a stop in Astapor. Apparently, one of the Good Masters offended Princess Kaori, and in retaliation, she made the sea rise and flood the lands of Astapor without mercy.

Or when they visited the Red Temple in Volantis, there was an incident. The worshippers of the Red God tried to burn the king's daughter. They undoubtedly failed, and in revenge, the King of Uzu burned the temple to the ground, reducing it to rubble.

"If you worship fire so much, then die in it," were the king's words.

Another important fact was that, aside from being powerful, they were immune to the passage of time. This is why they were called the Immortal King or gods. It was said that even before Aegon began his conquest, he had been there, even before the Doom of Valyria.

Viserys didn't know what to think. His grandfather had forbidden anyone with Targaryen blood from approaching Uzu and avoiding any contact with the Uzumaki. Once, he thought he had heard fear in his grandfather's voice. He had explained the true fate of Maegor the Cruel and what had happened with the dragon Balerion. Viserys listened in silence, not mentioning a word of it to his wife or daughter. Since his death, he had ruled, trying to uphold the legacy of Jaehaerys the Conciliator, maintaining peace during his reign.

He set those intrusive thoughts aside; today was a day of joy. He was celebrating the upcoming birth of his heir, and with it, his reign would be secured. He had seen it in a dream—a strong boy who would succeed him and maintain stability in the kingdoms. Then the herald's voice interrupted his musings.

"The next competitor comes from the cold north!" the herald announced over the commotion. That caught Viserys' attention. A man stepped forward, wearing black armor and a helmet that covered his face, preventing his features from being seen. However, the sigil he bore made Viserys' breath catch, and he wasn't the only one. "Alaric Snow of Uzu!"

What was someone from Uzu doing here of all places?

Viserys didn't know. He shared a glance with his Hand, Otto Hightower. This was certainly unexpected. What did it imply?

He hoped it was for the best...

--

"Was it wise to let him participate?" Kaori asked her father as they watched the tournament unfold. Hidden among the spectators, Naruto and Kaori observed everything that was happening. "He's going to kill them all! Not that I mind..."

Naruto just made a dismissive gesture with his hand.

"Everything will be fine. Alaric is ready for this," Naruto assured her. He had used henge to hide his identity, although it wasn't entirely necessary, as few people had seen him. However, his appearance, with pale skin, blood-red eyes, and white hair, would certainly attract attention. So, like his daughter, he opted for a simpler appearance — dirty blonde hair and clothing that didn't mark them as peasants but neither as nobles. "He wanted to test the results of his training with these southerners."

"If you say so," Kaori replied indifferently. "I could easily crush all of those knights if you'd let me."

Naruto chuckled.

"And what fun would there be in that?" he whispered in her ear. Kaori shivered at the feel of her father's breath in her ear, sighing in disappointment as he pulled away and began to walk out. "Come on, let's go home. We already know the outcome. We'll come back when the tournament is over."

Kaori pouted.

"Boo, you're teasing me! It's not fair, daddy."

Naruto burst into laughter.
