Out There Part Two
Chapter 3
A softer light edged around windows and Sara knew it was late afternoon. For years, she had slept in this room, in this bed, learned to estimate time by light in the room, but today was different. She stretched, knowing she had no reason to rush, enjoying the warmth of the body next to her.
Her husband must have been exhausted because he had not moved or made a sound since pulling her into a warm embrace. She needed to use the bathroom, already feeling stirrings above her bladder. The last ultrasound had been amazing—two small humans, pairs of legs kicking and moving—the female baby appeared to push the male baby several times causing both of them and the technician to laugh. Leaving the clinic that day, she had been quiet until Grissom said, "This is real, Sara. We're going to have two babies."
Carefully, quietly, Sara slipped out of bed, used the bathroom, and returned to the bedroom. Grissom continued to sleep, had rolled to his belly, otherwise, undisturbed by her absence. His bare foot was exposed, one arm curled over his head, and his white hair was—much like hers—curled in a mess resembling moss dangling from a tree. And his butt—she smiled, thinking his butt was sexy even when covered with a sheet.
In a moment, her face flushed and a familiar tingling flashed along her spine. Pregnancy hormones, she thought, as she moved toward the bed and crawled beside Grissom.
"We need to get up," Sara whispered in her husband's ear. When she got a muffled groan as a reply, she reached for his phone and checked the time. "It's almost four and Catherine said she'd be here at six."
"Later," came a groggy reply as Grissom nuzzled against her shoulder, his lips brushing against her skin. His hand moved from her back to rest on the upward curve of her breast.
Instantly, Sara's entire body went from thinking about sex to a lusty excitement of immediate desire. Her body—she blamed it on the hormones of her pregnancy—responded with an intensity that grew into a deep, pleasurable ache as his hand caressed her abdomen, fingertips grazed downward until his hand rested on her belly.
"Dear Gilbert—do you know what you're doing." She was hot, already damp, nearly ready to explode if he waited very long.
His answer was a deep, soft chuckle and movements of his leg and his hand as she laughed.
Sara was almost embarrassed at her body's response, flushed and trembling with desire; a groan of pleasure came as his hand pushed her shirt up and his mouth closed on her nipple. Her hand shook as she pushed his hand between her thighs, feeling him smile against her breast. Time seemed to stop as she felt his fingers searching delicately with gossamer-light caresses stroking her until her hips jerked hard against his hand.
His lips were moving across her chest, along her neck, her jaw, finally finding her mouth where he kissed her slowly, deeply, his tongue thrusting into her mouth until she groaned with a hard demand. Her legs wrapped around his thighs, her hands on his butt, pushing him into her intimate cleft, feeling his hardness against her flesh, inside her, nudging into the clasp of her sex with such tenderness she wanted to cry tears of joy.
In seconds, she felt hot all over as she sensed her coming climax. Deliberately, he stroked, pleasuring her with a steady, measured rhythm; his mouth continued kissing her with half-open kisses, fleeting strokes of his tongue until his combined efforts brought her to a shattering ecstasy. Her husband's orgasm came within minutes; his features went taut with passionate excitement, groaning as his sex throbbed inside her.
Grissom felt the heat of his wife as she slipped back into bed and he feigned reluctance to wake. For two weeks, on multiple occasions, she'd initiated her desire for sex, claiming pregnancy hormones, and after a long nap, he suspected she would wake him for a specific purpose.
This, he thought as he kissed her, was the best part of life. Her husky laugh was the most alluring sound he wanted to hear. And in that moment, he was fully aroused. When she returned his kisses, moved his hand to the apex of her thighs, the knowledge that she wanted him was as intoxicating as any drug imaginable. His own need was more intense than mere passion. Stroking the length of her body, her skin soft and warm to his fingers, he slowed his hand as he caressed her belly.
He'd thought he was aroused but when she arched between his thighs, he felt himself grow harder. As he entered her body, his breathing almost stopped—pregnancy had changed how she felt to him during sex—and the tightness was almost overwhelming as he pushed into her hot, welcoming body.
A short while later, Grissom stirred amid rumpled sheets and reached for Sara. When his hand found nothing, he opened his eyes, finding the bedroom empty. Behind the closed bathroom door, he heard the splatter of water. Reaching for his phone, he checked the time, surprised that only thirty minutes had passed since Sara had told him it was four o'clock.
Chuckling as he got out of bed, he remembered a long-used term for sex in the afternoon. When he entered the bathroom, a grin across his face as he watched Sara wrap a towel around her hair, he said, "Dear, this—this afternoon delight was what I needed to cure jet lag." Grabbing another towel, he twirled his finger to indicate he'd wrap it around Sara's body.
Once wrapped from chest to knees, Sara kissed him, ran fingers through his hair, laughing as she said, "I think it's hormones—I want sex just looking at you." She giggled as she grabbed his butt, "And this cute bum of yours just sets off the lust."
They managed to get dressed, make the bed, found fruit and cheese in the food supplied by Greg; Grissom sliced cheese and opened a box of crackers. Sara held up an apple, turning it slowly, smiling at her husband. "Sex always makes me hungry."
Their guests arrived early, Greg and Jim Brass laughing as they got out; Jim opening the door for Catherine who was dressed in a dark purple fitted shirt and slim black pants. Her red hair was blown out in soft waves.
As they headed to the front door, Sara turned to Grissom, asking, "How do I look?" She was wearing a soft pink tee-shirt with new stretchy jeans.
Grissom hugged her tightly, kissed her, and said, "You look stunningly beautiful, Sara." Then gave her a cheeky smile, adding, "And like you've been doing the horizontal mambo."
Sara covered her mouth trying to suppress giggles. "Horizontal mambo and afternoon delight—you are on a roll!"
"Well, you two look well rested," Greg called as he gathered several containers from the back seat. Holding one bag up, he added, "Chinese!"
A second later, Catherine swept into the foyer, hugging Sara and giving an air kiss before turning to Grissom. She hugged him, stepped back and hugged him again, then purposefully giving him a kiss—almost on his mouth except he turned his head so the kiss landed on his chin.
"I must say, Gil, you seem to be surviving married life very nicely!" Catherine said as she grabbed his arm and walked into the living area. She continued talking, "It appears you are thriving. Who would have thought you would marry again!"
Sara rolled her eyes toward Greg and Jim, took one of the take-out boxes and they headed to the dining room.
Catherine kept a stream of conversation going, asking questions, not waiting for answers before asking another as Grissom responded with a series of sounds, directing her toward the dining room.
Jim, Greg, and Sara were opening containers of rice and noodles, dumplings and soup, spring rolls, Ma Po tofu, Char Siu, and several other long-time favorites. Sara reached into a side cabinet for plates and bowls as Catherine and Grissom entered the room; she turned in their direction.
Catherine said, "I imagine it takes a certain amount of stamina but you appear to be thriving—is it the work or is Sara…" Her words were cut off by a sudden intake of air.
Greg and Jim stopped their conversation, watching as Catherine's wide eyes stared at Sara.
