The sound of leaves rustling made Magpiekit wake from her dream. Alderkit was already awake and hyper. "Why are you up so early? I'm trying to sleep" Groaned Magpiekit.
"Well you're awake now. We are becoming apprentices today!" Squealed Alderkit so. Suddenly all of Magpiekit's exhausted vanished and she started to try and wake Mistfeather. After a few paws to the face Mistfeather finally got up and started grooming Alderkit. When it was Mgapiekit's turn, Magpiekit didn't hesitate to trot over to Mistfeather and let her groom her pelt.
"All cats old enough to hunt in the trees gather below tree stump for a clan meeting!" Talonstar yowled. Instantly cats gathered around the stump for the clan meeting. Magpiekit wanted to dash out of the nursery and into the clearing but Mistfeather didn't let her and said it would ruff up her fur.
"Never has SunClan been stronger than us and I want to keep it that way so today is a special day as today we make two new apprentices. Magpiekit and Alderkit please step forward. Magpiekit until you have earned your warrior name you will be known as Magpiepaw. Bearnose you are ready for your first apprentice. You have received excellent training from our lost friend Jaggedstone and I expect you to pass on everything you learnt to Magpiepaw." Bearnose walked up to Magpiepaw and they touched noses. His cold amber eyes piercing into Magpiepaw's eyes. "Alderkit" Talonstar went on. "Alderkit until you have earned your warrior name you will be known as Alderpaw. Spottedfur you are ready for another apprentice. Birdwing has become a credit to the clan and I expect you to pass on everything you know to young Alderpaw." The two cats touched noses and the clan started chanting "Magpiepaw! Alderpaw! Magpiepaw! Alderpaw!" Alderpaw puffed out his chest and Magpiepaw kept her head high proudly. After the meeting Magpiepaw trotted to Bearnose but as she approached Bearnose suddenly looked cold. "So.. what are we starting with?" Magpiepaw asked nervously. "Well you're starting with clearing out the elders bedding and bringing them fresh kill" Bearnose said.
"but-"
"No buts" Bearnose hissed
As Magpiepaw walked over to the elders den she passed Spottedfur and Alderpaw. "Magpiepaw! Spottedfur is taking me on a tour of the territory! What are you doing?" Alderpaw asked. "Bearnose is making me clear out the elders den." Magpiepaw tried to sound excited but she clearly wasn't. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Spottedfur's whiskers droop as he looked to where Bearnose was sitting eating some fresh kill glaring at her.
As Magpiepaw walked into the elders den Larkspot and Beelight looked at her in confusion. "What brings you here Magpiepaw?" Asked Beelight. "Bearnose wants me to clear out your bedding" she responded. "But dosen't her want you to know the territory?" Larkspot protested. Magpiepaw shrugged but Larkspot wouldn't let her clear out her old bedding. She instantly got up and stalked over to Bearnose. Magpiepaw and Beelight tried to stop her but she wouldn't listen. When Magpiepaw caught up to her she was already at Bearnose and hissing at him. "Stop!" Talonstar's yowl made everyone freeze. "What is going on here?"
"This crazy elder is complaining that I'm not doing my job properly" Bearnose growled. "Because you're not!" Larkspot hossed. "You're making Magpiepaw clear out bedding for her fist task and while she's doing you're just sitting around stuffing your face with fresh kill!" Talonstar stepped between the two spitting cats. "Enough" Talonstar growled. "Bearnose it would be better if Magpiepaw even knew where to get the moss so why don't you take Magpiepaw for a tour and if you can't even show respect for a elder than maybe maybe you shouldn't be a mentor." Talonstar finished. Bearnose stood there with his ears pinned to his head and is claws flexed. He stood there for a few moments then he faced Magpiepaw and said "Come on then. You heard Talonstar"
"Take Hawkflight with you!" Talonstar called as he walked back to his den. Bearnose huffed but didn't say anything. As the three cats exited camp Magpiepaw followed Hawkflight while Bearnose stayed behind with his ears pinned to his head. "This is the great tree. There is a rumour that this tree has been here since the clans settled here." Hawkflight looked up before pointing his tail to a large island in the middle the lake. "Over there is the great island. No cat has ever gone there but we are trying to find a way by digging tunnels, although every cat always comes out with some story about a strange cat" Hawkflight shrugged then he started to run to a set of mountains. Magpiepaw followed but Bearnose stayed looking into the lake. After a moment Bearnose joined Magpiepaw and Hawkflight behind a bush in front of a two-leg house. The two-leg house seemed to have multiple cats in it. "Are those cats trapped?" Asked Magpiepaw. "Yes, but they choose to" Hawkflight answered. "But why?" Magpiepaw asked. "Because they like their two-leg and the care they get being all warm in the den rather than starving in the cold." Hawkflight responded. "Let's go." Hawkflight said. Magpiepaw nodded.
The sun was going down by the time Magpiepaw, Hawkflight and Bearnose came back to camp. "Go get some fresh kill then get settled into your nest. I believe Harepaw, Buckpaw and Jaguarpaw made you and Alderpaw a nest each." Magpiepaw nodded and thanked Hawkflight then she trotted to the fresh kill pile and picked out a nice juicy mouse for her to eat. Alderpaw and Spottedfur returned to camp just as Magpiepaw finished her mouse, she waved her tail to Alderpaw and he joined her with a frog. "I'll stay with you and then we can walk into the apprentice den together" Magpiepaw said. Alderpaw nodded and once he finished his frog they got up and started padding into the den.
Magpiepaw was surprised at how big the den was from the inside. There was a cave connected onto the entrance of the den with some nests inside the cave and some under the bracken that covered the den. "Woah" Alderpaw breathed. "It's massive!" Magpiepaw whispered. Suddenly Harepaw appeared behind a rock. "It's cool, huh" Harepaw said amused. "Come we made you two a nest each. Follow me." Harepaw instructed. The three apprentices stopped at some nicely made nests in the middle of the den. "This is where Barklight and Volepelt slept but we figured we would give their spots to you guys. It's the warmest part of the den." Harepaw said. "Thank you! These look awesome!you must have sprint some time in these" Magpiepaw said to Harepaw. Harepaw dipped his head just response slightly embarrassed.
Suddenly a new voice spoke "Settling in here ok?"
Magpiepaw looked up to see a brown tom standing at the entrance of the den. "Yes, Buckpaw" Harepaw answered. "It's good to have new apprentices in here. It gets annoying having Harepaw and Jaguarpaw in here all the time" Buckpaw teased. Buckpaw Magpiepaw and Alderpaw chuckled as Buckpaw went on "Speaking of Jaguarpaw, where is he?" Buckpaw asked. Harepaw shrugged "probably training" Alderpaw guessed. "We'll be better be back soon or he will miss Talonstar announcing who is going to the gathering tonight." Buckpaw stated. Magpiepaw straightened up at the mention of the upcoming gathering. Magpiepaw had heard of it as a kit but she never got to go to one. "Don't worry I'm sure you two will go to the gathering tonight. Talonstar may want to show SunClan that HailClan is at the peak of strength and it will be your first gathering as apprentices!" Magpiepaw nodded before trotting out of the den and to into the clearing.
Yeah.. so I didn't expect to put this chapter out the same say as chapter 1 buttttttt i'm impatient and I had it finished so I just did it. Only problem now I is have to plan and write a whole chapter. See you soon!
