Hello, I'd just like to say that the first part of the story is pretty cringe and bad, this is my first fic ever so my writing quality will hopefully improve later on, just bear with me it gets better I swear.
Hi! This was my second year at JMA when this began. You may be asking how I am talking to you. Well, it's a long story for another time. Anyway, I started at JMA after what I like to call the year of insanity or as you would know it, the year when arc 2-3 happened. After that year during the break, JMA expanded in capacity; it now holds 120 students a year, and that is also the time The Guide to the Dragon World first published. During that first year, I met my two clawmates: a Sandwing named Camel and an Icewing named Frost. I'm a Sandwing/Seawing hybrid; my name is Sandstorm, and I also have animus powers. You see, now I know how I still had them after Jabroa III made the animus magic disappear, but that would spoil the story, so I will just tell you what I thought at the time. It was probably something chosen one-y, but I might have just gotten lucky. You see, I was running away from home, and I had made it to a far-off island off the Rainwings' coast, taking shelter from a storm when my mom found me, maybe it had a range to it.
Anyway, I'm pale blue with bright yellow spots on my snout and tail as well as gills along my neck. I also have a crush on this Skywing in our winglet named Osprey; she's very pretty, kind, and funny. So, to get you caught up on things that happened those two years. First, I became friends with Camel; she is like a sister to me. And Frost, he's a nice guy when you get to know him, just don't get on his bad side. About halfway during that first year, I decided to try and become friends with the infamous Jade Winglet who were the most popular dragonets in school for obvious reasons. So I sat with them at lunch and introduced myself, and eventually, we became friends, so then I introduced them to my clawmates, and now we're all friends. During the break of that first year, Thorn adopted Qibli. But during this last year, nothing special happened. Until the end. The school decided to do a school dance they call it prom. I believe you should know what that is, and yes, it is the same as your prom; anyway, this is where the story begins.
It was the night of the prom; I was going to ask Osprey as my date, but I got scared so I went with Turtle As Friends (I'm saying this because I know how you humans are and how much fandom's love shipping.) Turtle was going to ask Kinkajou; it had been 2 years since he and Kinkajou had that talk at the epilogue of book 10. She had seemed nicer and happier when he was there, but Turtle still couldn't tell if it was love or friendship (Though personally I thought it was obvious Kinkajou was in love since I first met The Jade Winglet), so he decided not to and went with me instead. So for the prom, I decided to go with a royal look, so I decided to have Anemone help with that. To make some small talk, I asked her about who her date was and for the rest of the process, she talked about her and Tamarin doing couple things (though I didn't hate it, I always thought they were a cute couple), so when that was done, me and Turtle met up at the front; he looked great.
"Wow, Turtle," I said, "if Kinkajou doesn't love you already she's bound to fall for you now."
"Thanks, I bet Osprey will fall for you too looking like that," he replied. "How do you know about me liking her?" I say in shock.
"It's obvious. It's all over your face when you see her."
"Oh."
After that, the others arrived except Peril; she wasn't coming. We all exchanged the "you look greats" and "good to see yous." Then we went inside the prey center, and it was beautiful; the founders had worked really hard. They decorated the whole thing to make it look like space; all three moons were painted on the ceiling, and so were hundreds of stars. They also got a band to play music for us; we all hung out for a while, and I was dancing when romantic music played, and I saw Osprey, and she was more beautiful than ever, and then a crazy idea popped into my head: "go ask her to dance with you," and for some reason, I decided to do it. I walked up to her and said:
"Hey Osprey."
"Oh hey Sandstorm," she said in an excited voice I didn't notice because I was too nervous.
"I was wondering if you would like to dance with me."
"Sure, Sandstorm, I would love to."
SHE SAID YES AND HAPPILY. DOES SHE LOVE ME TOO?
So we danced, and she looked happy, like really happy. So this alone made me do the thing I was too scared of doing a few days ago and ask her on a date:
"Osprey… if you would like, will you go on a date with me," I said nervously.
At first, she looked shocked, but that was quickly taken over by happiness.
"Yes. Yes, I will!" she said hugging me, "Meet me here in one week by the main entrance."
I was shocked she actually said yes; I didn't think she would like me like that, but she does.
"Uhh… Yes, Yes," I say still shocked, "I'll meet you here in a week."
We finished dancing and said we would see each other in a week. I went over to my friends.
"Guess who just got a date," I said.
"Well, congratulations; it took you and Osprey to get together," Camel said at which point everyone made sounds of agreement.
"Wait, did you know she loved me too?"
"Yep," everyone said.
"How? I mean I get Moon; she can see her thoughts. But did the rest of you all know?"
"It was painfully obvious every time you two interacted," Qibli said.
"If I had a coin for every time I wanted to just tell you two, I would be richer than all the queens combined," Kinkajou added.
"Well, at least we're together now."
At that moment, Winter came from one of the ceiling holes and landed by us.
"Well, Winter, I didn't expect you here," Moon said.
"Yeah, well, I was coming to say hi because I was in the area, but I wouldn't have come if I knew you were having a party."
"Oh, and why is that?" Qibli said.
"They remind me of my life in the Ice Kingdom."
We all cringed a little. He had told us of his life in the Ice Kingdom before and how much he hated it.
"Well then let's get out of here; we wouldn't want our royal prince to get nightmares," Qibli said teasing Winter.
"Shut it sand snorter," Winter said back as we began to leave. We flew up on a ledge on the mountain just chatting and talking when Moon asked:
"Do you guys ever wonder where the founders hid for all those years? They don't like to think about it too much, and when they do, it's only when they were inside of it. It makes me curious."
"Well, it's probably in the northern part of the mountains since they were found by the Skywings," Qibli said.
"Want to go find out?" Camel said.
"Sure, why not? It could be fun, would be shorter than our last adventure too," Winter said.
"And easier too," Turtle added.
"Well, it looks like we're in agreement; let's go," Camel said enthusiastically, and with that, we took off.
