Chapter 4:

Why did The Idiot and The Stray, Cross the Road?

The T.T.F (Taimanin Task Force) is an elite unit within the Japanese government, composed of Special Taimanin, that are tasked with hunting down demons and terrorists in Japan. The group was founded by Igawa Asagi, after the failures of the Japanese Special Forces to combat the threat of the Dark World. This task force is under the leadership of Asagi and Captains who are the Elite of the Elite Taimanin. They respond to Demonic threats as well as National Threats to Japan's National Welfare.

Kaiser always had thoughts of joining the T.T.F. but knew that he had no chance due to his current less than cordial status with the Elders and couple of Japanese Government Officials. Lately though a certain individual has had his eye on Kaiser and was persistent in wanting him to join his personal squad that he was building.

As Kaiser got to the rooftop of the academy he saw Blue hair, tanned skin, and one yellow eye that belongs to young man about the same age as him who was smiling at him.

"Hey Kaiser-san, long time no see."

Kaiser sighs as he saw Fuuma Kotaro, the current head of the Fuuma Clan and Captain of the newly formed Independent Rangers squad of the Taimanin Task Force.

"What do you want Kotaro?"

"I've been looking for you all morning. I wanted to talk to you about something important." Kotaro said as he walked over to with an easy-going smile towards Kaiser.

"And what would that be?" Kaiser asks as he crossed his arms with a bored look on his face.

"I want you to join my team." Kotaro said with a serious face as his easy going demeanor gave way to his true intentions.

"No." Kaiser replied immediately without even thinking.

"Why not? You are strong and you have potential. You are top of your class and have been praise by all the instructors as well as veterans as the the top combatant in the Taimanin since Asagi." Kotaro sighs as he crosses his arms. "It would be a perfect opportunity to join my team? We get benefits, get paid extremely well, take on missions that can save lives, and we get certain and special privileges with in the Japanese government."

"I don't care about any of that. I'm not interested in joining your team or working for the government. I don't trust the Japanese Government and I am not interested in their schemes and agendas. I've had enough of being used by others and being controlled by those who don't know me, and why should I trust them?" Kaiser replied as he felt like he had done this argument many times before." The T.T.F. isn't my scene and I'm fine where I am, I have no interest in the politics or power plays of those on Top. Also, The Elders won't allow it and the government would not like it either."

"You're lying. You want to join us and fight to protect the world from the demons. We can work together, fight together and protect this country and its people from the horrors of the Dark World." Kotaro said confidently as he sighs again, he knew that this was going to be harder than he thought in order to persuade a valuable asset like Kaiser. "Well if you won't join me then at least let me introduce you to some of my teammates. They are all good friends of mine, and they will also be joining the task force soon enough."

Kaiser was skeptical as he knew people like Kotaro always had a plan for every encounter and had contingencies for any derailment. If there was one thing Kaiser couldn't stand it was the disingenuous and self-serving manipulators who let others do the hard work while they scheme behind others backs as Kaiser didn't have the patience nor tolerance for those who play games using people as pawns. He had been played by others too many times and had no intention of being controlled or manipulated by another person.

Kaiser knew Kotaro had plans for him but he did owe some debt of gratitude towards Kotaro for when Kaiser was about to be executed by The Elders, Kotaro was one of the most outspoken of the Clan Heads for Kaiser's release as well as his pardon. Without the Fuuma's influence Kaiser would have doubted that he would have lived on that day as the other Clans weren't as powerful as the Mizuki's, Koukawa's, or the Igawa's.

"Fine I'll meet your friends but I make no promises." Kaiser said as he looked back at Kotaro.

"That's all I ask for." Kotaro said with a smile on his face as he lead Kaiser to the Taimanin Task Force HQ.

The T.T.F (Taimanin Task Force) HQ is an elite special operations unit of the Japanese government, formed in 2018 after the "ONT Conflict".

As Kaiser arrives to the Taimanin Task Force HQ he was impressed by the size of the building and the number of staff running around. Kaiser followed Kotaro through the lobby to meet his team as they were waiting for him.

"So this is the guy you told us about?" A woman asked as she approached Kaiser and Kotaro.

"Yeah, I am sure he will fit right in." Kotaro said with a smile on his face as he looked at the woman with a look of...admiration?

"I don't know about that, but it is good to meet you, Wrath-kun. Well then I guess I should introduce myself, My name is Igawa Asagi and I am the leader of this task force and the Headmistress of Gosha Academy." The woman said as she bowed her head towards Kaiser.

Kaiser didn't return the bow as he had a distrusting scowl on his face.

"I remember you... you were there during my trial and my almost execution... well I guess I would have to meet you eventually...Head Mistress." Kaiser said as he was not too fond of the Igawa Clan nor Asagi who had given him the most grief of him being an outsider.

"You are welcome here Kaiser, we are all comrades here." Asagi said with a forced smile on her face.

"Whatever, let's just get this over with." Kaiser said as he walked away from Asagi. Kotaro follow behind Kaiser as he turned back shot his Commander an apologetic look.

Asagi just sighs and shakes her head as she was wondering what the young promising Clan Head was planning this time by trying to get the Village Worse Troublemaker or what he was also known as... 'The Walking Disaster', to join his new team.

"Alright, I will introduce you to the rest of the team." Kotaro said as he lead Kaiser around the HQ as they entered in what seems to be a command operations room with large screens on the walls, hologram projections, computers, and other pieces of modern technology that displayed various locations around Japan and demonic activity around the world. Kaiser saw various Taimanin going about their business running around at their workstations and computer stations going through reports or training exercises.

"These two are my team members." Kotaro said as he lead Kaiser towards a group of people. "This is Uehara Shikanosuke, is our the youngest member of our team and has just been approved for active duty."

Kaiser saw a small girl who had long brown hair and had a spunky look on her face as Kaiser nodded his head towards her.

"Wait Uehara? Are you Related to Rin Uehara?" Kaiser asked curiously. "I didn't know she had a little sister."

As Kaiser said this he notice that Shikanosuke cheeks puffed up and her lips pouted at Kaiser.

"HEY! I'm a boy! and yeah...Rin is my Older Cousin." Shikanosuke said as "she" huff with crossed arms. Kotaro and the others laughed as Kaiser had a confused look on his face.

Kaiser didn't care who he offended as he would forget their names as he had no interest in joining the Task Force or Kotaro's squad.

Kaiser said as he had a bored look on his face. "I don't need to be stuck with a bunch of weirdos telling me what to do and whatnot."

"We aren't a club, we are a Task Force. We are looking for new members and you are just the right person for my squad." Kotaro said firmly. "We need strong people like you."

"Why do you care?" Kaiser asked confused.

Kotaro paused for a moment as if he was deep in thought as knew he couldn't force Kaiser to join, but he hoped that his presence would at least give them an edge to recruit what his team was sorely lacking...power. Kaiser was in all cases a human equivalent of a nuclear warhead, whatever he was pointed at would be rubble as shown during the 'Dies Irae' Incident.

Only problem was...Kaiser didn't listen to anyone who wasn't his family and was known to cause unnecessary collateral damage.

"Well we can't force you to join, but we can help you if you're in need. If you have any questions just ask... but if you ever change your mind come talk to me alright?" Kotaro said as he put out his hand for a handshake.

"Oh... well, this was enlightening talk and all, but I'm really tired, so I'm heading out. Laters." Kaiser said as he ignored Kotaro's hand and left the room.

"So that's the guy who they call 'The Mad Dog of Ruin', huh? He doesn't seem like much." Shikanosuke said as he looked at the door where Kaiser just walked through.

"He might be strong but he has no discipline and is extremely rude, Hebiko thinks so." Hebiko said as she crossed her arms.

"That may be but...I have a feeling that we will meet again...and soon too." Kotaro said as with a sly smile on his face, hoping that Kaiser would be tempted to join as he watched Kaiser leave the Taimanin Task Force HQ.

After Kaiser left the HQ, he thought back to Kotaro's offer. He enjoys killing demons and helping people, but after what happened with the Elders and how the Taimanin handled his adopted mother's kidnapping as well as his trial, it made Kaiser weary of authority. The Leaders whom Kaiser was supposed to trust turn their backs on him and his family. It was something he will never forgive nor trust in anyone who wants power over him.

"Yukikaze is still in school, right? I should go pick her up." Kaiser said as he walked off towards Gosha Academy.

"Tch! That stupid punk is so annoying!" Hebiko yelled as she kicked the wall.

"Don't worry about it, Hebiko; we just need to get stronger, then we can show Kotaro we don't need that jerk." Shikanosuke said as he tried to cheer up Hebiko.

"Yeah...you are right, Shikanosuke-chan." Hebiko said as she and Shikanosuke started to make plans to get back at Kaiser without Kotaro knowledge.

"Yes, really, you are the Daughter of Kenichi Mizuki, The Rumbling Thunder Horse, and Shiranui Mizuki, the Phantom of Mist. You are my little sister, and you are one of the strongest Taimanin in Gosha village, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise." Kaiser said as he hugged his little sister tighter. "And I will always be here for you no matter what happens...always."

Yukikaze felt better after hearing her older brother's words and hugged him back. "Thanks, Onii-chan... Hey, Onii-chan, what do you think of Rinko?"

Kaiser froze inadvertently as he heard that question.

This drove the older and more Traditionalist mad that an Outsider would be the one to perhaps lead the next generation of Taimanin instead of their own heirs.

Kaiser could care less for politics of any sort, but he knew his presence would continue to cause problems for his adoptive mother and little sister, which is why he was set on leaving the village once he graduated from Gosha Academy; from there he would fight, kill, and slaughter demons on his own and would no longer be a burden on the Mizuki's, who had shown him nothing but love and acceptance.
