While Ai was spending time with Kǎi, she noticed Mei return from the direction of the kelp forest. Ai covered her mouth, if this situation was similar to her and Kǎi's then Yìngyù would appear some time later.

Kǎi noticed Ai's expression and as he raised a silver brow, he asked "Are you alright?"

Ai giggled with one of her hands covering her mouth while she waved her hand in a dismissive manner. "Oh me? I'm alright. I just…" She lowered her hand until it was touching one of her pink lips. Well, Kǎi was her lover now so she should trust him, right? But just to be sure…

Ai looked at him with a mischievous glimmer in her midnight blue eyes. "Can you keep a secret?~"

Kǎi replied. "Of course, I can."

Ai put her hands together as she tilted with her eyes closed. "I think love is in the waters."

Kǎi chuckled. "If you mean us then that's no —"

Ai interrupted by giggling. "I don't mean us!"

"Oh? Then pray tell, who else would be secret lovers aside from Ruǎn yù and Lín?" Kǎi gave a slight smile.

Ai looked dumbstruck for a moment as the thought came to her that Kǎi must be joking with her. "Oh! You tease!" She playfully slapped his shoulder which made him frown and grunt for a bit.

Ai dramatically gasped. It sounded like she struck a nerve with him. She sheepishly asked, "I'm sorry, I upset you, didn't I?"

Kǎi looked at her and replied, "I just don't like being touched in a manner."

Ai nodded while having her hands up "Ok, I got it. No rough touching." She then regained her mischievous smile. "Besides, we're in a relationship now, we kinda have to get a little touchy."

She tilted her head. "We technically got a little touchy earlier."

Kǎi chuckled then said "Apology accepted. So… You were saying?"

"Oh!" Ai's mouth turned into an o shape then she held up her index finger while smiling with her eyes closed. "Well, if I'm correct, we should see Yìngyù return from the direction of the kelp forest."

Kǎi thought about it for a bit then replied, "So you're saying that Yìngyù and Mei could possibly be secret lovers?"

Ai gasped dramatically loud and swam back a bit, giving some space between her and the angel, then hunched over while trying to appear meek. "How did you know?"

Kǎi nonchalantly replied. "Well, if he isn't spending time with me during the break or with Ruǎn yù like he did today, he is usually by her side. I inquired about her once when I talked with him. He seems rather taken with her by how he speaks of her in high regard."

Ai replied "Heh heh, I should've figured that you would've been sharp enough to see past that. Sure, people could pass it off as a high amount of respect, but he seems to smile a lot when he talks about her, and all that sincere praise must be…" Her volume was starting to get louder at this point.

Kǎi gently shushed her so she wouldn't draw attention to what was supposed to be a secret relationship.

Ai put her fingers over her mouth. "Oh, thank you." She waved her hand up and down. "Yìngyù wanted me to keep it a secret but I can't help it."

Ai raised her arms in the air. "I'm just so happy for him!"

Kǎi shushed her again.

"Oh sorry, thanks." Ai self-consciously touched her neck while having her eyes closed. "But yeah, the poor guy's been in love with her for a long time and Mei's not fond of merman for some reason. Since she's the high priestess, he was resigned to loving her from afar. I was hoping she might grow to like him more but after seeing that they probably went to be alone in the kelp forest makes me glad that it wasn't unrequited for him and happy for them."

Kǎi replied "Mmm. I wish them all the best."

After all, they were also in a forbidden relationship but while he and Ai being together may not last forever, there was hope that the blonde merman who had yearned for the priestess for so long may end up being together for a very long time.

Ai smiled when she heard him bless Mei and Yìngyù's relationship. The angel couldn't help but smile as well when he saw her glowing smile. Even if their destiny couldn't last in her lifetime, he would surely remember her smile forever.

Kǎi then said. "We should prepare to get back to work."

Ai replied "Alright."

Kǎi then announced that break was over. Ai lined up next to Mei and grinned widely. Maybe she was getting in the new couple's way, but she couldn't help but want to pry to confirm her suspicions.

They began joining their water manipulation abilities, but Mei couldn't help but frown and raise a brow as she looked at her blond friend. "What's going on with you now?"

Ai smiled. "Oh nothing, the question is, what's going on with you?~"

Mei couldn't help but think about how she had embraced Yìngyù earlier and how they had both left from the kelp forest. Did Ai see them returning from the same direction?!

Mei blushed furiously then said "W-What do you mean?"

Ai whispered with a mischievous tone. "Oh, you don't have to keep it a secret from me Mei, I saw you and Yìngyù head out from the direction of the kelp forest."

Great, so they were seen. Mei however, wasn't willing to admit the truth so easily just yet. She countered with "So… When you were being happy earlier... You knew about how Yìngyù felt about me, didn't you Ai?"

Ai mock cried "Wah! I'm so sorry! But I promised!"

Mei shushed her loudly. "Be quiet! You're making a fuss."

Ai made a sniffing sound then said "Sorry. I know we're best friends, but he made me promise and I felt so bad for him that I couldn't–"

Mei sighed. "Alright, I understand."

Ai teased with a mischievous side-glance "You like him too, don't you?"

Mei huffed "So what if I do?"

Ai beamed with her eyes closed. "Nothing, I'm just so happy for you two."

Mei glared at Ai. "Don't tell anyone about this."

Ai promised then Mei asked "So… What were you and Kǎi doing in the kelp forest?"

Ai blushed then winked. "Well, you're not the only mermaid who decided to get in a secret relationship today."

She'd probably have to let Kǎi know that they were seen but hopefully he didn't mind her sharing about it? A secret for a secret seemed fair between best friends after all.

Mei smiled after hearing Ai's confession.

Ai asked, "You won't tell anyone about this either right?"

Mei closed her eyes as she snootily replied, "Of course not."
