Chapter 2: Unexpected Changes
Things can really change plans from one second to the next. And today we will see how many plans are going to change, both for the better and for the worse. We will start with a worrying place, the Cadaverini Mansion. In that place, something big was in the works, as there was a lot of activity recently with the arrival of Pyros to the new world. We can see how a group of people gathered in the room where they used the dimensional portal machine. Among them we can see the Sinister Guppies and Pyros. Gregory was at the console to activate the portal again.
"Lord Pyros, I believe the coordinates and calculations are in order. Are you completely sure?" Gregory asked while he was preparing the portal again.
"I'm absolutely sure. The coordinates match the world I came from. Go ahead" Pyros ordered. The young scientist activated the computer and the ion beam fired to create another portal. Only this time, it was more stable thanks to the contributions of knowledge and magic from Pyros. At that instant, the portal opened and the figure of an adult hooded guppy appeared. Cadaverini's men prepared their weapons, but Bossi and Pyros ordered them to lower their weapons. The hooded man simply approached Pyros and removed his hood to reveal his bald face and knelt before his master Pyros.
"Master Pyros, It is an honor to meet again after a long time"
"You knew you wouldn't let me down, Zark. You've never let me down. Ahem...Bossi Cadaverini, Sinister Guppies, and everyone else here...This is Zark, Grand Sorcerer Zark. He's been my right-hand man, and he's also worked behind the scenes on my previous plans. This time will be no exception, his contribution will be relevant to our plans for revenge and domination" Pyros introduced him.
"Thank you very much for the introduction, my Lord. My purpose has always been to serve the Fire Lord" Zark bowed.
"Who would have thought? I finally met someone more of a bootlicker than you, Gregory" Robynn smirked a bit.
'Would you please shut up? Unless you want Lord Pyros to burn us alive" Gregory whispered at her.
"It is an honor to meet you. I am Bossi Cadaverini, Lord of House Cadaverini and strategic ally of Pyros. I welcome you to this new world" Bossi introduced himself politely.
"The honor is mine, Lord Cadaverini. Although this has not been the only time I have traveled to other worlds. However, what matters to us is that we have work to do" Zark answered.
"That's right, we are already working on phase 1 of our plan" Pyros said evilly.
"Very well. According to the plan you said you would strengthen the men I already have. How do you plan to do that?" Bossi asked them.
"We have a method for that" Pyros commented.
"I just need a test subject to prove it" Zark said. Bossi simply snapped his fingers and two henchmen appeared grabbing another henchman. They threw him in front of the masters.
"You can use him. He's one of my weakest minions and he'll be perfect if the test goes wrong" Bossi proposed.
"Please! Have mercy, my lord" The lobster grunt begged for his life.
"Don't cry, my dear friend. I'm sure you'll like this, well, this will actually hurt...Behold!" Zark began to perform a premiere spell where orange flames appeared in his hands and touched Bossi's henchman who was the test subject. The guy's body began to catch fire.
"AAAAAHHHHHHH"
"That must hurt" James said nervously. But something strange was happening to the boy. Although his body was on fire, he did not die. A cloud of ashes began to cover his body and a strange transformation began. He no longer wore the elegant and characteristic uniform of the House of Cadaverini, but now had black armor with orange flame decorations on the suit and a horned helmet that only revealed his orange eyes. It was as if the person and the armor were one. The guy just breathed deeply and no longer had any emotion.
"I present to you the Magma Warrior. With a little bit of my dark magic or Pyros' we can turn them into this relentless warrior. Extreme resistance and variety of weapons. For example, some will have swords, others spears and most will use these cannons" Zark explained the transformation. The new Magma Warrior extended his hand and summoned a portable cannon that he used as a ranged weapon. It fired fireballs and lava. Many of the minions were impressed, but they screamed in excitement at the power.
"I want to test him" Bossi took out his revolver and shot the Magma Warrior in the head and the bullet barely touched the soldier's head and it melted "Impressive….very impressive…..Harris…."
"Hehehe! I've always wanted to wear one of these things. IT'S HARRIS TIME!" Harris prepared an AK-47 rifle as a test and began to mercilessly shoot at the new Mgama Warrior. No matter how powerful the burst of bullets was, the bullets melted as they hit the new warrior. The Magma Warrior simply stood there without even a scratch "Woah! That thing is a tough nut to crack, fella"
"I like this very much. The best thing is that we will have an army of these things. Very well. Members of the House of Cadaverini! Form a line, those who wish for more power!" Bossi offered. Several of the mercenaries decided to line up to be turned into Magma Warriors by Zark.
"Although I am tempted by that power...I don't like the fact that that magic washes our brains" Jame said smartly.
"That's why we won't use that magic. Let's first see what happens to those test bunnies" Jane smirked a bit. At that time, Zark began to create several Magma Warriors.
"This will be the perfect army. There is literally nothing in this world that could stop them. I am sure that with this we will achieve our ambitions" Bossi smirked while he contemplated how his men were transforming into his perfect army.
While all this was happening behind everyone's backs, we'll be able to take a look at an ordinary day in the quiet town of BubbleTucky. It's necessary to refresh the context of the story of these guppies a little. It was spring and the end of the school year was approaching, therefore, graduation was close for them. There was about a month left for the popular prom. The Bubble Guppies already had their plans for the future, since they all had their approval letters to the universities they chose. Gil was already enrolled to enter the Police Academy and would start after the summer holidays. In addition to that, the dark influence of Damaged Molly had convinced Molly to prepare for her revenge against Jane Cadaverini for all the pain and suffering he subjected her to. But it wasn't a simple revenge: He had planned to kill her! Despite that dark desire, she was able to remain the same Molly as always in front of friends, family and her boyfriend. However, the last few days there were very strange things. She had stopped having nightmares or dreams related to Jane or Damaged Molly. Now it was stranger things for her. She could see an unknown subject with fire powers. And not only that, she could see how a younger version of her fought against that villain-looking subject. Molly did not understand that and preferred to keep it to herself. As she had kept things in the past.
The school atmosphere was pleasant. Several boys and girls were planning who they would invite to the Prom. Now that many tensions had calmed down, the Bubble Guppies were enjoying the last days of high school. In fact, we can see them walking back to their respective houses. Molly, Gil, Goby, Deema, Oona, Zooli and Urchin were on their way.
"I can't believe we're close to leaving high school and going to college" Goby commented.
"It's part of life. We'll stop being teenagers very soon and we'll be adults" Molly said quietly.
This is going to be exciting! College parties, Independence, Driving, here I come!" Deema said excitedly.
"I'm surprised you're taking it so well, knowing we'll have to separate" Oona commented.
"I know. But it's not like it was years ago. Now we have technology and ways to stay in touch. Besides, do you think I'll leave the coolest, most handsome guy in the world?" Deema said as she put her arm around her boyfriend.
"Hehehe….Deema" Goby said nervously and blushed.
Besides, I'm sure we'll be fine. But hey! Why do we worry about that now? We should enjoy today. Graduation is still a long way off and we still have summer vacation left. We'll be together for a long time to come" Zooli reminded them.
"Zooli is right. Let's enjoy the present while we can!" Gil said excitedly.
"Carpe Diem. That's what dad says when he reminds me not to be sad about the past or worry about the future" Urchin commented.
"Your father is very wise. You probably inherited that too" Zooli touched his hair flirtatiously but discret.
" Hey, Molly...You've been slightly quiet…Are you okay?" Gil asked her.
"It's nothing, Gilly. I'm just... wandering a bit in my thoughts" Molly answered.
"I hope it's not about your...traumas...I mean, if you want to talk about it now..." Zooli said kindly.
"I haven't really thought about it much. It's just something more...strange. Like something is going to happen. I've had premonitions about something big...Something that is perhaps beyond my understanding" Molly was commenting about her latest dreams and visions.
"I think you're worrying too much. You've always been one to overthink. And with everything that's happened to you, you're even more right. But hey... As long as we're with you, everything will be fine" Deema comforted her.
"Heh…..I think you're right" Molly smiled.
"Of course I'm right! When have I ever been wrong? Don't answer me, Goby" Deema said quickly, knowing that her boyfriend was going to contradict her. Everyone laughed a little, except for one person. Oona had just received a call and had quickly chatted with someone.
"Guys, Nonny just called me. He's back home...And he wants to talk to us in person now...at his house" Oona said. That was strange for the guppies. If we think back a little, Nonny had left BubbleTucky because he managed to study at university a year earlier than normal.
"Nonny is here! And why does he want to see us now? And why didn't he tell us?" Goby asked surprisedly.
"I don't know. He didn't tell me much either and his tone sounded serious... More than usual" Oona said.
"Strange. Come on, guys. To Nonny's house" Molly said before all the other guppies decided to go to Nonny's house. It was very unusual, since he was supposed to be in college.
It wasn't long before the group arrived at Nonny's house. They were welcomed by the boy's foster parents. And oddly enough, they noticed Nonny in the living room with some computer equipment and a slightly dirty lab coat.
"Oh Nonny! You came back faster than we expected! I missed you so much" Oona ran into his arms and they both hugged him back. She even gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Hey, man! Nice to see ya here" Goby said happily.
"Thanks for coming, guys. I know you all want to say hi and ask me about my new college life. But unfortunately, I came to talk to you about something more important. Did you make sure no one followed you?" Nonny asked them.
"Of course not. It's just us. Since when did you become...paranoid?" Gil asked surprisedly. Nonny just closed the doors and windows.
"It looks like he drank 10 cups of coffee" Deema commented.
"I really apologize for my attitude...But things are getting strange and worrying these last few days. And you guys are the only people I can trust" Nonny said quietly.
"Could you tell us what is bothering you?" Molly asked him.
"Of course. In one of my many college assignments I had to study a bit of meteorology. And the university has detected an anomaly in our home. Both in BubbleTucky and Big BubbleCity. So I offered to investigate it. So I returned here a couple of weeks ago without telling anyone. However, I discovered something disturbing. There is a specific point in this area where the temperature is higher than normal. Too high for this time of year. The disturbing thing is that this location... is the Cadaverini Mansion" Nonny explained his concern. Everyone was silent trying to process what the boy with glasses was trying to explain.
"Is the famous Bossi Cadaverini doing something?" Goby asked confusedly. Everyone knew the infamous mob boss.
"I think so. But this is strange. There is no logic to it doing something that would alter the climate or the atmosphere of this place. It must be something big for even the weather radars to have detected it. I investigate and investigate and there are no logical answers" Nonny explained his point.
"Wait a second! Why are we involved in whatever Bossi is doing?" Deema asked very confused, like the majority.
"Because Bossi is Jane's father...From that point on, we are in some way...It's...possible that he has found something to...get revenge" Molly deduced.
"It sounds paranoid... But I have to agree with Molly. There is something I don't like at all. I have a hypothesis that Bossi is trying something…" Nonny wanted to explain his deductions until something interrupted him.
BEEP-BEEP-BEEP
"What's that?" Zooli asked.
"It's a device I made that detects sudden weather disturbances. It's used to detect winds that could form tornadoes. However, I think it's something else... Hmmmmm... But what?! It can't be, there's a weather disturbance right now just outside BubbleTucky... but this time, a sudden drop in temperature?! I have to go now!" Nonny grabbed some of his tech devices and wanted to get out of the house quickly.
"We will go with you!" Oona offered.
"This could be dangerous. Stay here" Nonny said trying to keep her safe.
"And that's why we'll go with you!" Gil said determined.
"We are a team. We have each other's backs" Molly added. Nonny thought about it for a bit.
"(sigh) Okay...but you will do exactly what I say. This is something that goes beyond what we know" Nonny advised.
"A new adventure like old times!" Deema said excitedly.
"The most important thing: A mystery to solve" Urchin added.
Without wasting much time, the group of 8 teenage guppies left Nonny's house. The boy managed to take some of his artifacts to the venue. They walked quickly (in Urchin's case, he increased the speed of his movement in the wheelchair) towards the venue. What they noticed was the sudden change in weather. It is supposed to be warm in spring, but in an area on the outskirts of the city, snow began to appear and the place was cold without any explanation.
"Brrrrrr! You-You didn't te-te-tell me this would get c-c-cold" Deema said as she shivered from the cold.
"I know. This doesn't make sense. First the heat waves around the Cadaverini Mansion and now frozen waves here. There is no atmospheric phenomenon that can explain this. And even less so in a small area like our home" Nonny said as he used his detector to analyze the cold atmosphere. The guppies were watching as snow formed around them without falling.
"Huh…Nonny? Is that normal?" Oona asked confused. A mysterious gust of cold air began to spin around itself and started to form a small whirlwind of snow.
"No...That's not normal...Back off!" Nonny ordered and the other guppies fled from the whirlwind's reach. The whirlwind grew a little bigger and the sky darkened and lightning started to fall. That scared our protagonists, but things were going to get stranger. The whirlwind began to take another form, it became a circle of energy that grew slightly and released cold air. Indeed, a portal had been generated.
"What's that?!" Goby asked confusedly.
"It looks like... some kind of portal" Oona deduced.
"Impossible! Those things only exist in science fiction" Zooli denied.
"Guys, are we all seeing the exact same thing or is it just me? I'm sure I didn't drink anything weird!" Deema said dramatically.
"The wisest thing is to keep our distance and observe what is happening" Urchin commented.
"That sounds smart to me...Ehhh...M-Molly?" Gil noticed how Molly was the only person who dared to approach the portal regardless of the wind or the lightning "Molly, come back! That can be dangerous. And I can tell you this because I often get into trouble!"
"Molly…Molly…..Molly….."
"Guys, that...portal is...calling me" Molly said quietly while she was approaching the portal.
"Whatever you hear...Ignore it! Just listen to our voice! Come back!" Deema called her. But Molly ignored her and walked closer until she was in front of the portal. As if by instinct, she touched the portal and an energy began to shine. And immediately, a gust of icy wind sent her flying, landing on her back a few meters away.
"Ahhhhhh!" Molly fell, but she was okay.
"Molly!" Gil quickly approached to help her.
"I'm okay….but….what's it?" Molly noticed that there was frost on parts of her clothes. As if the wind was almost freezing her. Before anyone could do anything, they noticed a mysterious silhouette coming out of the portal. The guppies noticed this and were shocked and scared. Molly quickly got up and stood in front of her friends with her boyfriend. However, she noticed that it was not one silhouette, but two, who were holding hands. In addition to that, six other mysterious figures appeared behind them.
"But what?" Gil said confusedly.
"Back! Back!" Nonny shouted before….
"AAAAAHHHHHHH!" The 8 mysterious figures were violently expelled from the portal. That same force pushed the Bubble Guppies back and finally the portal closed, leaving an impact zone under snow and ice.
"Ugh...Ugh...guys, are you okay?" Molly recovered and got up to help her friends.
"Brrrrr! It was like a blast of freezing air, but we're okay" Goby answered.
"Hmmmm! Hmmmmm!" Poor Urchin ended up with his head buried in the snow and his saddle stuck.
"Urchin!" Zooli pulled out the wheelchair and managed to get Urchin out of the snow and carried him in her arms and was able to sit him in the wheelchair again.
"Owww! Th-Thanks" Urchin thanked. The 8 Bubble Guppies reunited.
"We are all fine...It seems so..." Molly said calmly.
"Ughhh! Don't expect a crash landing!"
"Deema, did you say something?" Goby asked his girlfriend.
"No. I haven't even talked" Deema answered.
"That was your voice...We all heard it" Oona commented.
"Guys, are you okay?"
"Yes...Yes, Molly, we're fine...The snow cushioned the fall"
"Wait...Those are our voices...but we don't even open our mouths" Molly said before approaching the place where the portal had appeared. She noticed that there were 8 figurines that were recovering from the violent expulsion from the portal. They definitely came out of that portal.
"It seems to me that something strange is happening here" Nonny was confused too. Molly carefully approached the 8 men. They were just whispering a little and one of them decided to approach Molly.
"Euh….H-H-Hello? Who are you? And where did you come from?" Molly asked them.
"Wait a minute...why do you have my voice? And why do you look like me...but older?" At that historic moment, the fog cleared and revealed something amazing. Molly was in front of... ANOTHER MOLLY!
"AHHHHHHHHHHH!" Both Mollys screamed at the same time. Finally both groups noticed the presence of other guppies very similar to them. Evidently, both experienced the meeting of two worlds.
