Mew's Adventure 11
Onwards to Arlong Park
Or
New crewmates, new problems, same old Mew
"...And finally, here is the logbook of my travels in the Grand Line." Zeff said as he held the leather bound book out to Luffy. He wasn't surprised however when instead of taking it, Luffy pushed it back towards him.
"We don't need it. Discovering new things is all just part of the adventure. If we knew everything that was coming it wouldn't be fun"
Zeff chuckled as he stashed the book away then turned his attention to Sanji. The blonde haired cook was pointedly looking away from Zeff and had a bag full of his worldly possessions slung over one shoulder. No words were said between the two cooks, they had said everything that needed to be said earlier.
Gin, who was standing a bit off to the side, wore an expression of resigned acceptance as if he was the last sane person on the planet. That was probably because Mew was settled on his shoulder and had its head Transformed into an exact copy of Gin's. Just with a goofy expression. Anyone that had tried to laugh about the face had been silenced by a murderous glance from Gin.
"You take care of Sanji, Luffy. That boy is like an adopted son to me and The Baratie. But it's time for him to go off and fulfill his dream instead of being stuck here trying to pay back a debt he doesn't owe."
"Don't worry old man. Sanji and Gin are going to have a great time with us! Oh and thanks for all the extra food!" Luffy shouted back at Zeff as he rocketed back to the Merry. Catching Gin and Sanji in his arms as he flew. Mew Teleported to Nami's shoulder rather than getting dragged along. The crew onboard Merry watched as the three crashed to the deck in a tangle of limbs.
Zeff and the entire crew of the Baratie waved goodbye as Merry sailed away. They kept waving right up until the ship vanished over the horizon. As soon as it had Zeff whirled around to face his crew.
"Alright my fighting cooks we've got a lot of work to do and not enough time to do it. When I finish training you lot up, you'll be some of the best cooks to ever sail the seas. Now get the Baratie moving! Next stop, the Grand Line!"
"Yes sir!"
Happily unaware of the changes that were now taking place at the Baratie, the Strawhats continued their voyage to their next destination, Arlong Park. It was for that reason that Nami called the crew together for a council of war. Sanji, Luffy, and Gin were the last to join the council as the pair spent several minutes chasing their rubber-brained captain around the ship. Luffy was sporting several very impressive lumps on his head when he sat down.
Mew managed to remain invested in what was going on for a couple of minutes before it grew bored. While the crew continued to talk, Mew drifted off to the spot it liked to occupy on Merry's main mast. Its departure did not go unnoticed however.
"Does Mew do that often?" Gin asked Usopp during a lull in the conversation as he leaned towards the nearby sniper.
"Who, Mew?" Usopp responded as he looked up from assembling more Surprise Stars. He looked up at Mew, who was still seeming to talk to thin air, before giving Gin a shrug.
"Mew goes up there a lot to talk to itself. Dunno why, it just does."
"Talk to itself huh?" Gin said softly as he looked back to where Mew sat on the mast. Sitting beside Mew, apparently unseen by the rest of the crew, was a child-like figure in a hooded orange raincoat and boots with pink paw prints on them. A pair of horns, just like the ones on Merry's figurehead, graced the side of the kid's head. The child, judging by its gestures, was animatedly keeping up its half of the conversation.
The war council broke up soon after that at the hungry rumble of several stomachs. Sanji immediately got to work and in only a couple of minutes had a fantastic feast laid out on the table. He even made Mew a sandwich that the Pokemon happily munched on.
The crew was finishing off their meal when the island came into sight. Just then, drawn by the smell of food unknown to them, a massive white and green Seaking broke the surface alongside them. The creature was easily as big as the Going Merry if not bigger and seemed to be the combination of a whale crossed with a cow. Including horns that grew from the sides of its head and a huge nose ring through its apparent nose.
"Mooooo!" The Seaking roared or would that be moo'ed? Either way it eyed the crew as if it would be more than happy to make a snack out of them. At least that was what it was doing until Mew flew up and hovered in front of its face. The Seakings went crossed eyed as it tried to focus on the small pink thing. Mew made loop de loop gesture with its paws followed by clapping them together.
While the rest of the crew looked on in puzzlement at Mew's current antics, the Seaking at least seemed to understand. The creature's eyes went wide as it rapidly looked between Mew and then the crew. It made a noise of questioning disbelief that Mew responded to with a simple nod. Then, to the shock of the crew, the creature dove back beneath the waves, making noises that sounded a whole lot like mutters. Mew, its job apparently done, flew back to the ship and slumped across Luffy's shoulders.
Gin and Sanji tried to question the crew on what just happened but only received one answer. "It's just a Mew thing." They eventually threw up their hands in despair and moved on with their day. Just in time for the sea entrance to Arlong Park came into view. The multi stories of the pagoda like building looming over everything else.
"Okay everyone remember the plan?" Nami started to ask.
"Fire the cannon!" "Aye, aye captain!" She was cut off however by Luffy's excited shout, Usopp's instant reply, and finally the boom of the cannon as a cannonball whizzed off towards the Park. Nami dropped her head into her hands as she let out a long frustrated sigh.
"What were you saying Nami?" Luffy asked as his head stretched into view.
"I was asking if you knuckleheads remembered the plan but clearly not!" She shouted as she brought her fist down onto Luffy's head. The hit was hard enough that it was able to raise a large lump even on the head of a rubber man.
Any further talk was cut off however as a massive whirlpool suddenly began to form directly in front of Merry. The whipstaff swung out of Nami's grip a moment later even as Chew leaped onto the deck from the water. It was total chaos after that.
Mew's eyes flashed pink as a second Whirlpool, going in the opposite direction to the first, appeared inside of the first whirlpool. Waves of equal force crashed against each other in a way that caused the laws of physics to throw up its hands in frustration. The result however was the water returning back to its peaceful state.
Gin rushed out from inside the hold, tonfas held in either hand. He dove over Merry's railing and splashed into the water below. The weight of his weapons pulled him deeper as he reoriented himself. He spotted his target, a Fishman wearing a karate gi, clutching what remained of Merry's broken rudder. A confrontation of epic proportions was about to commence underwater.
Back on the main deck, Usopp snapped off a trio of firebird stars. The three fiery projectiles impacted perfectly with the three water bullets that Chew had just shot from his mouth, canceling both attacks.
Sanji vaulted the upper deck railing at a run and barely even slowed upon hitting the main deck. Just before he reached Chew, Sanji spun on the heel of his foot, turning a straightforward charge into a powerful roundhouse kick that caught Chew on his unprotected side.
Zoro dodged backwards as eight separate swords stabbed into the spot he had just occupied. He slipped Wado between his teeth before drawing his new twin swords. The ribbons from Pairobla wrapped tight around his arms.
He felt it as the Pokemon began to try and feast on his strength but forced it down with an effort of will. These new swords might take him longer to get used to than expected. Still it wasn't anything that Zoro couldn't handle, he just needed to try harder. could feel it as the Pokemon started to feast upon his strength.
Steel clashed against steel, and sword met sword in a furious display of skill that took the two swordsmen from one end of the ship to the other. Neither swordsman planned on surrendering an inch to the other.
Nami had just taken all of this in when Luffy's arm wrapped around her waist. The next second she found herself flying alongside Luffy through the air. It was then that she realized Luffy had grabbed her just before he used Gum-Gum Rocket to launch them both towards Arlong Park. More accurately she was heading towards a stunned looking Arlong with a significant amount of speed behind her, and the tingle of electricity in the air.
"Hey Arnold!" Nami shouted, purposefully getting the name wrong as she snapped her improved bo staff together. The tingle of electricity grew stronger as it was pulled toward the metal, like iron filings to a magnet.
"Wha? Nami?!"
"Eat this! Inazuma Kick!" She threw her foot forward just before impact as bolts of lightning crashed all around her. In that moment, with lighting dancing all around her, she looked like an angry storm goddess had descended. A single bolt of lightning struck her staff, the electricity surging through her as it sought to reach the ground. Straight from Nami's foot directly into Arlong's body.
