In the middle of a desert in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. A convoy drives off in the desert playing "Back in Black" by AC/DC. In the armoured car sits Izuku Midoriya with several soldiers carrying rifles sitting with him. Izuku has a glass of whiskey, he's trying not to spill it onto the floor.
"That's Deku!" Was yelled by many. None of them wanted to think that the green-haired boy could ever look like that. Too bad for them, they would have to face that fact many times over.
"I feel like you're driving me to a court-martial. This is crazy," he grins at one of the soldiers who doesn't smile back, but his eyes shine with amusement. "What did I do? I feel like you're going to pull over and snuff me."
"What is he doing?" the teacher asks. "And why is he with soldiers?"
A scoff comes from Kaija, one of Izuku's main bullies. "Of course, they're ignoring him. Why would they want to sully their names with the likes of him?" Others laughed along with him.
Hajimari scowls at the boy. She wishes she could do something to shut him and others like him up, but then she might be sued for assault.
Izuku laughs but when he still doesn't get a response he questions, "What, you're not allowed to talk? Hey, Forrest!" He waves his hand near a soldier's face.
"We can talk, sir," the soldier, 'Forrest', is holding back a smirk.
The laughing stops when they see the soldier holding back a smirk. No way. There is no way that these soldiers have any respect for Deku! It wouldn't make sense! He was useless! They weren't going to believe what Hajimari said, ever. There was nothing she could show that could prove her statement and they knew it.
Oh, how wrong they were.
Izuku sits back in his seat, "Oh, I see. So it's personal."
The soldier who was driving speaks up, "No, you intimidate them." She looks back long enough for him to see her smirking at the soldiers in the back with him.
Intimidate? No, that can't be. Why would soldiers be intimidated by him? They must have misheard her.
Izuku's eyes widen in excitement, "Good God, you're a woman. I honestly… I couldn't have called that. I mean, I'd apologize, but isn't that what we're going for here?" He questions before addressing her more seriously. "I thought of you as a soldier first."
"I'm an airman," she smiles, not taking her eyes away from where they're heading.
He narrows his eyes at her, "Well you have, actually, excellent bone structure, there. I'm kind of having a hard time not looking at you now. Is that weird?" He asks.
She's flustered but laughs with the other soldiers.
"Come on, it's okay, laugh!" Izuku is glad the ice has finally been broken.
How? How could they laugh with him?
Kaija narrows his eyes, "Turns out they aren't real soldiers." He smirks, "If they were, they would have gotten rid of him by now."
Most of the students who had laughed didn't respond. To say Deku was nothing was one thing, but to disrespect soldiers, even ones from America, who had fought for many people and hadn't done anything with their lives? That was way too far.
Katsuki didn't laugh. It was clear they were soldiers, the uniforms and rifles were enough to show that. So how could this extra insult them so easily simply because Deku had somehow earned their respect? No, not how could he, how dare he?
"Sir," one of the soldiers begins. "I have a question to ask."
"Yes, please," Izuku leans back, happy to answer.
He lowers his voice faintly as if what he's about to ask is a secret of a lifetime, "Is it true you went 12 for 12 with last year's Maxim cover models?"
Maiha whistles, "Damn." She hadn't been expecting something like this from her classmate. She was shocked and impressed. She never bullied him, but she hadn't stepped in to stop it, either. For her, that was just as bad as bullying him so she felt she owed him an apology and to finally start sticking up for him. Maybe she could get a hang of it so much that she could do so for others as well. Hopefully…
Izuku nods. "That is an excellent question. Yes and no," he states.
"How can the answer be yes and no?" A student snickers believing what she said was funny. When she went to get a high five from Maiha all she got in return was a look of frustration. Maiha now knew her best friend was no longer going to be her best friend before this was over.
"March and I had a scheduling conflict, but fortunately, the Christmas cover was twins. Anything else?"
The girl blushes, realizing what Izuku meant and is shocked that those words ever could have left his mouth in that order.
Izuku isn't much better as he chocks on a popcorn kernel. He was fine, but the shock was enough for now. How did he end up getting laid by not one, not two, but twelve women? He couldn't even fathom getting laid by one, let alone twelve! How else was he supposed to respond? Pride? He has never felt that before, so he wouldn't know if he did feel that emotion or not.
The soldier next to him raises his hand. "You're kidding me with the hand up, right?" Izuku asks with wide eyes.
He lowers his hand nervously, "Is it cool if I take a picture with you?"
Izuku holds back his excited shaking as he answers, "Yes. It's very cool."
Kaija was fuming. Why would these soldiers waste their time with Deku of all people? He was useless! A leech trying to infringe on his superior's rights! He wasn't evolved enough, and he dared to try to take the spot of an evolved person's dream. Kaija will never stop letting him know his place. At the bottom of the totem pole, no. His place was below the ground, dead and buried. Never to be dug up. He will make sure of that.
The soldier pulls out his camera and hands it to the soldier sitting in the passenger seat in the front. "I don't want to see this on your HeroSpace page," Izuku says as the soldier puts up a peace sign for the photo. When Izuku notices he shakes his head, "Please, no gang signs."
The soldier lowers his hand before putting it back up when the man continues, "No, throw it up. I'm kidding/ Yeah, peace. I love peace. I'd be out of the job with peace."
Izuku was calm now from the shock he faced minutes earlier. "Oh, so I'm guessing I take over for Dad in the company."
"Hah?" Katsuki growls. What did the nerd mean by that? What company? And what dad could he be talking about? His dad left him when he realized his son was a quirkless loser!
Izuku lets out a quiet 'meep' at the sound of Katsuki's voice but steels himself to respond, "Dad is in America running his weapons company, Midoriya Industries."
Wait, Deku's father didn't leave them because his son was quirkless? How could that be? It didn't make sense!
How many more surprises were they going to get throughout this projection? Little did they know…
"Come on. Hurry up. Just click it," the soldier is getting impatient. "Don't change any settings. Just click it."
As the picture was about to be taken, something hit and blew up the vehicle in front of them. Gunshots rang out all around their vehicle, hitting the side of it with intensity.
Everyone jumped, some screaming. None of them ever heard gunshots before. They were a quirked society for god's sake! They didn't need guns so why would they have had to hear them?
"What's going on?" Izuku asks while staring at the soldier he was about to take a photo with worry. He was so young.
"Contact left!" The driver shouts.
"What have we got?" Izuku is not heard over the gunshots.
The driver exits the vehicle and is quickly shot down, splashing the door's window with her blood.
The screams had stopped, but the tears had begun. They just saw someone get shot down. What was worse was they never saw that much blood in their lives, ever.
"Jimmy, stay with Midoriya!" One of the soldiers shouts at the young soldier.
Jimmy pulls Izuku down, "Stay down!"
"Yeah!"
The soldier who gave the order exits the vehicle only to get shot down like the driver.
Again?!
"Son of a bitch!" Jimmy shouts, readying his rifle.
"Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait! Give me a gun!" Izuku frantically demands as the boy gets out and closes the door.
"What are you supposed to do with a gun?" No one knew who asked it but Izuku didn't care.
He tried to calm his tears enough to answer, "If I've taken over Midoriya Industries then I'd need to know my way around a weapon to be able to put one together."
That would shock everyone once they were calmed down enough to process that their classmate knew how to use a gun. Never mind the fact that he said he'd have to know for future reference, it was still a terrifying thought!
"Stay here!" He shouts through the door only to get gunned down too as he turns around. The intensity of the gunfire sends bullets through the vehicle.
Luckily, Izuku was practically on the floor at that point. Unluckily, the sound dulled his sense of hearing, causing a ringing noise to reverberate through his skull. Izuku doesn't hesitate to exit the vehicle himself. It was no longer safe in there now that the bullets had broken through.
"Why would you get out of the vehicle you damn nerd?" Katsuki shouts.
Instead of Izuku answering it was Hajimari, "It would have been worse if he hadn't left." No one knows how to react to that, how could they?
He stumbles a bit in the chaos. As he gets some of his hearing back he runs, diving behind a rock for cover. Izuku pulled out his phone to contact and call for help when a bomb landed next to him.
Whipping his head to look at it he notices the name on the side. 'Midoriya Industries'.
Gasps rang around the room. How could these people get a bomb from Midoriya Industries if Deku hadn't sold it to them? Based on the look on future Izuku's face he didn't sell any to them.
He tried to get up and get away, but he couldn't before the bomb went off, sending him flying through the air.
The screams start back up again. Gunshots were one thing, but a bomb exploding was different. Sure, they heard Bakugou's explosions but that wasn't the same thing as an actual bomb! It seemed they had to learn that the hard way, especially Bakugou.
Izuku hits the ground hard, his senses dulled again. He felt pain in his chest and pulled his button-up out of the way as blood started to pool, showing he was wearing a Kevlar bullet-proof vest underneath that had been pierced. Izuku passes out with the thought of all the soldiers who died before him.
At least he had been wearing a bulletproof vest, but the fact that he was still bleeding through it worried them. They might not all like Izuku, but they sure as hell didn't want to see him die in front of them!
It was one thing to see people who had no connection to dying; it felt more like they were watching a movie, but it was completely different to see someone they knew dying. That would feel more realistic in comparison.
When he wakes up it's to hear someone speaking in Urdu. He doesn't know what they're saying, but once his sight unblurs he sees there is more than one person surrounding him, all holding some kind of weapon. Not only that, but he feels his wrists and ankles tied to a chair. He has been kidnapped.
What were they supposed to do after that?
Kaija couldn't think of anything to say. Sure, he mentioned the term 'dead and buried', but he didn't mean it literally!
Izuku's trying to hold back his fear for his future self. He needed to figure out what was going on and why these terrorists had gotten his weapons. He needed to figure this out, otherwise, he was going to be worried until he knew the answer.
