Chapter 4: Meeting Carrie
February 1, 2013
Monday
5:00 AM
Peter wakes up from his sleep and takes a bath. Then he does his Spidery suit.
He brews chocolate milk and eats breakfast and he preps his clothes.
7:00 AM
Peter puts on his blue shirt with black skinny pants, puts on his blue converse shoes and wears his suit jacket and puts his Spidey suit in his bag on his back.
Once he was finished, he left his apartment, took the elevator to the main reception area, where there was only a single female receptionist on duty behind her desk.
He is waiting for Rita as she comes down.
"Good morning Peter. Did you sleep well?" Rita asked.
"Yes Ma'am. Also Good morning Miss Desjardin." Peter said with a smile.
Rita chuckles.
"Are you perhaps awake longer?" Rita asked.
"Yep. I took chocolate milk and had breakfast." Peter said.
"No wonder why you can maintain yourself. Considering that we are at the same time, wanna hop in with me?" Rita asked.
"Of course." Peter said.
"I wish I had my car." Rita said.
"You have a car?" Peter was shocked.
"Yes." Rita said.
The two walked out to see her car.
"You really do have a car." Peter said.
"Thanks." Rita said.
"Do you know the way?" Peter asked.
"I'll lead you the way." Rita said.
"Okay." Peter said.
The two get in the car as she drives off heading to the school.
"So what time is the first class this morning?" Peter asked.
"8:30, your first schedule would be History, after that English class and breakfast is already served in the school's cafeteria on the morning of each school day if you want to have your breakfast there before class begins." Rita said.
"Duly noted." Peter said.
Peter told Rita that he had Parents, Uncle, and Aunt who also inherited their respective.
The two arrived at Ewen High School.
"And here we are Peter, Ewen High School." Rita said.
He looked at the school, admittedly not impressive since it's not that big, grand and rich.
"Not too big, good for mostly near this school." Peter thought to himself.
He saw dozens of cars parked and the brightly yellowed school bus were pulling up disgorging students.
The car stopped near to the school entrance as they parked in front.
The students noticed the shiny car in the school.
"First thing first Peter we'll go into the principal's office. Principal Henry Morton would like to meet you before the class starts because it is unusual for a transfer student which reserve an exchange student." Rita said.
"He must have known." Peter thought to himself.
Rita told him that she texted the principal that they are neighbors, Henry Morton told her to bring him to his office which made her curious why the principal wanted to see him.
"Of course Miss Desjardin, first day of school now I'm already called by the Principal's office. I must have done something wrong." Peter said.
His joke made Rita laugh a little.
"One more thing." Peter said.
He puts on his shades.
"How do I look?" Peter asked.
Rita laughs at his look.
"Did you have to wear those?" Rita asked.
"Always doing this in style." Peter said.
The two exit the car and enter the school, as they open the doors and walk in, many students easily notice him due to his sense of fashion.
Not only that they're getting attention not because he has a sense of fashion but also their Gym Teacher was with him leading the way and that caused almost all of the other students to turn their heads as well in curiosity to see what was going on.
"Well, well, well, it looks like we've got a new kid on the block today." The boy said.
"Must be a transfer student." The boy 2 said.
"Most likely." The boy 3 said.
"Look at that dude, his sense of fashion is hope as fuck." The boy 4 said.
"He looks quite a cool hottie. Hey sis, think you can hook up with him." Lizzy said.
"Think so sis. He looked like a rich person." Nicki said.
"We haven't got another transfer student this year… he must be the only one." Heather said.
"Hey Chris, what are your thoughts about this guy?" Tina asked.
"Not much but he is quite a hottie. Too bad I have a boyfriend." Chris said.
Peter clicks his fingers pointing at the girls and some give him a lustful smirk.
They arrived at the Principal's office and Rita asked him to wait not long after she entered she beckoned him to enter.
"Okay Peter, you can come in." Rita said.
Principal Morton stands up to shake hands with Peter.
"Ah, good morning there, Peter." Morton said.
"Good morning, Principal Morton." Peter said.
He shakes hands with Principal Morton's hand.
"Have a seat please." Morton said.
Peter sat down in the chair.
"Welcome to Ewen High School." Morton said.
"I'll do my best sir. Do you perhaps know my dad?" Peter asked.
"Yeah I heard of Richard Parker before. He works from Oscorp." Morton said.
"Yep, this truly." Peter said.
"She is one of the few people I trust. Also, here is your schedule for your class." Morton said.
He gives the paper to Peter.
"No need to worry. I have my illusion skills in handy." Peter said.
"Your father asked me to enroll you here despite the fact that you have good grades and surprisingly secret work." Morton said.
"Thank you sir. Can I go now." Peter said.
"Sure, it's a great pleasure. Your mother Mary Parker. Your Uncle Ben and Aunt May Parker." Morton said.
"Oh yeah." Peter said.
"I'm very sorry about your parents. Sorry to hear about your Uncle Ben." Morton said.
"Thank you." Peter said.
"Have you been bullied before?" Rita asked.
"No Ma'am I've lived a fine life at school before. No one bothers me, just peace and quiet with my friends." Peter said.
"I see." Rita said.
"We say sorry to your Aunt May." Morton said.
"Okay." Peter said.
Peter stands up and leaves the office.
"Do you think Peter might stay out of trouble?" Rita asked.
"More like trouble would find him. And we know a certain student is always bullied. I won't be surprised if he acts soon." Morton said.
"Carrie. Do you think he would be a good friend for her?" Rita asked.
"Yes, I hope she won't get lonely and the reason why he could blend in easily and be confident to make friends, especially her, the poor girl really needed a friend. If she knew his status, she would avoid him." Morton explained.
"I hope so." Rita said.
School Halls
Peter was heading towards the cafeteria still not knowing where it was despite having a map as he had to familiarize it first before making a good guess of where it is as he got near the corridor, he noticed a teenage boy in the other direction and cleaning the lens of his camera.
"Excuse me, do you know where the cafeteria is?" Peter asked.
The boy was startled by his voice and looked at his appearance.
"If you haven't noticed yet… I'm Peter Parker, the new student here." Peter said.
The boy shakes his hand.
"I'm Freddy Holt." Freddy said to himself.
"Nice to meet you. Do you know where the cafeteria is?" Peter asked.
"Oh yes, it's close by just at the very end of the corridor and then turns left." Freddy said.
"Thanks for the directions. Hope to see you again Freddy." Peter said.
"Likewise Peter." Freddy said.
School Cafeteria
"Oh great! There's not much to sit on; most tables appear to be occupied by groups of students." Peter said.
He took an apple and he brought his Sprite soda can with him.
He looked for a place to sit down, but more students had come in and were at the tables either chatting with friends or having breakfast. So there were a few places before.
Looking for a table, hoping to see Tommy Ross which is unfortunate he is not here. It would be easier since he is Peter's only friend.
He scans his surroundings looking for a table to sit, he looks at the table of jocks whistling at the cheerleaders.
Peter rolls his eyes at the sight.
Then there was a group of girls that have been whispering about him, like the usual cases about school days, events, their boring days etc.
Peter felt a b vibe in them as he would stay away from them as much as possible.
Peter finally found a vacant table with only one person who was a girl with strawberry blonde hair who seemed to be trying her best not to attract any unwanted attention from anyone else in the cafeteria…
Peter made his way towards her as he got closer he noticed her hair framed her face as the girl concentrated on finishing her food. She didn't notice him standing by her table.
"Definitely an outcast and likely been bullied." Peter mutters.
As he stands in front of her he makes his decision.
Peter clears throat.
"Um, excuse me. Do you mind if I sit here?" Peter asked.
The girl jumped slightly from his voice. The girl looked at him and she looked scared because of his looks…
Now that he has a closer look upon her appearance, she was a very beautiful girl, her skin was pale, yet not in an unhealthy way with a slim figure. Her strawberry blonde hair, which fell just past her shoulders, framed her beautiful heart shaped face and green eyes. Her clothes were a tad of old-fashioned side but seemed to suit her quite well...
Carrie White looked at him with a fearful expression as she looked at the boy standing near her table in front of her. She hasn't seen a new face, likely a transfer student.
She was surprised that no one would try to sit with her, then again he is a fresh face meaning he is a new one here, still it won't be long before he would stay away from her some indeed have but because of the Ultras a group of popular girls who made it into their mission to make her life as miserable day in and day out as they call her 'Creepy Carrie'.
This was like a chore for her, like wake up, go to school and go home hoping that her bullies leave her for once which is rage time and that's only the blessing part also hoping, her mother didn't see a sin and put her on a prayer closet, if she avoids this then it's miracle that goes unscathed.
"Who is he? Did he come here to trick and bully me?" Carrie thought to herself.
She stares at the unknown boy, he has brown hair with a mullet, pale skin and sparkling purple eyes. She felt her cheeks redden slightly because he is more attractive than Tommy Ross.
"Sorry, I startled you. It's okay I won't hurt you, just looking for a place to sit. You don't mind if I sit here, do you?" Peter asked.
Peter had to admit the girl is cute but still she is shy so he had to not to make her even more afraid of him.
Carrie was silent, unsure if this young man wanted to trick her or not. Since she saw his friendly smile she slowly nodded allowing him to sit down.
Peter sit down and notices that Carrie it still silent as she refuses to make eye contact with him as he introduces himself.
"Introductions, I'm Peter Parker. I'm a new student from New York. And my very first day here. Thanks for letting me sit with you." Peter said.
Carrie looks at him nervously, despite having a popular appearance, she introduces herself.
"I'm Carrie White." Carrie said.
"It's nice to meet you, Carrie. That's a nice name." Peter said with a smile.
He drinks his soda and hears whispers from a few tables.
"What's he doing sitting with Creepy Carrie? Doesn't he know who she is?" The girl asked.
"Girl, haven't you noticed yet? That cute guy is new here, so I'm not surprised if he sat with Creepy Carrie." Girl 2 said.
"We should have called him the chance we got, now he's sitting with Creepy Carrie." Girl 3 said.
"What he doesn't know is he's just thrown his social life away." Girl 4 said.
Peter heard them slightly and narrowed his eyes.
"What did she do to you?" Peter thought to himself.
"They're…they're whispering the fact that you're sitting with me." Carrie said.
"I've heard of those words before. Besides, nothing is wrong with sitting with a pretty girl like you." Peter said.
Carrie's eyes widen upon hearing that he calls her pretty, no one has ever spoken to her that way other than Miss Desjardin complimenting her.
"Me pretty? He must have made a mistake." Carrie thought to herself.
"So?" Peter asked.
"You're lying. I…I'm not pretty." Carrie said.
Peter was taken aback at her response, she was one of those girls with low self-esteem.
The bell rang signaling the start of their class.
Carrie collected her things, stood up and headed off to her first class of the day without another word.
Peter finishes his apple and soda. He stands up and grabs his map to keep looking for his first class.
He finally found his first class which is History.
He enters his first class with only two seats left to be filled which Peter doesn't know who is sitting there and he sees Carrie who is in the same class as him.
"You must be the new student." The History Teacher said.
"Yes sir." Peter said.
"Before we begin, I'd like to announce that we got a new transfer student who will be attending Ewen High School for the rest of Senior Year. No doubt some of you may have seen him sitting in the cafeteria a little earlier this morning or in the entrance." The History Teacher said.
Many students in this class were genuinely curious about the new boy they'd see walking in the corridors or sitting with the school's outcast in the cafeteria a short while ago. Which is not surprising after all it's not for the time if Carrie would sit with him.
"Young man, if you would please introduce yourself." The History Teacher said.
"Hi everyone. I'm Peter Parker and I'm an illusionist in New York." Peter said.
Some of the students are surprised at the last name and some are confused as to why his name was some kind of a big deal.
"Yes, my Aunt May Parker who is a part of the F.E.A.S.T." Peter said.
Carrie was confused and curious about the F.E.A.S.T. that his Aunt was a part of.
"Good, now any questions about Mr. Parker?" The History Teacher asked.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" Nicki asked.
"Yes, I had a relationship with a girl named Gwen Stacy." Peter said.
The girls squealed at that, especially the girlfriend who thought they had a chance with him.
"Do you have any major interests or do any sports?" The Jock asked.
"No, I've been a photographer in the school of New York all the time." Peter said.
"So meaning your clothes had something to do with your photographer?" Jock 2 asked.
"Yep, always perform my school with style." Peter said.
"Can you show us your photographer?" Lizzy asked.
Carrie became Peter's photographer.
"I'll show you." Peter said.
Peter took his bag off and as he took it the photographer of Spider-Man the students are gasped and surprised.
"The one of the superheroes. The Amazing Spider-Man." Peter said.
Peter smiled and the students clapped.
Before class could start, a new boy entered, he wore a jocks jacket, he had black hair, brown eyes and standing 5 '11 ft tall and an athletic body…
"Sorry sir, if I'm la-" The boy said.
"Tommy Ross, my man!" Peter said.
"Yo Peter Parker, don't know you transferred school today." Tommy said.
The two greet in a handshake, fist bump and hug.
Carrie was surprised about the new student being friends with a familiar jock…
"My Aunt told me to have a fresh new start." Peter said.
"You still have that camera in you?" Tommy asked.
"Yes, I still got that photographer." Peter said.
Peter flicked and he caught a photo of Spider-Man.
"By the way, was this my photographer before I left?" Peter asked.
"Indeed it was." Tommy said.
"You two know each other?" A voice came.
The two turned to a beautiful blonde haired girl…
"Yes Sue, Peter and I are old friends." Tommy said.
"Well it would be easier, but students go to your seats." The History Teacher said.
"Of course sir." Peter said.
Peter and Tommy went to their seats.
"Alright, today's lesson is WW2." The History Teacher said.
Carrie blushed a little glancing at Peter…
"I'm curious about the new boy." Carrie thought to herself.
To Be Continued…
