Chapter One: Haunted

We rarely went to the movies. I was always too busy with work for us to go out much. Forty hours a week with split days off did not leave me with much time for fun. Especially when I was finishing up my degree in history. But the Mean Girls movie was different. Christopher Briney from "The Summer I turned Pretty" is in this one, and I know he is your celebrity crush.

You were always on team Conrad, and I was always on team Jeremiah.

After watching the first two seasons over and over, I knew we had to see the movie. I still see Amy there in the passenger seat of my old car. I can see her ivory skin, blonde hair pulled up in a ponytail, green eyes, black lululemon leggings, and the pink sweatshirt you're wearing.

Traffic is always crazy in Atlanta, but today, it somehow seems worse. All I can see is cars in front of me.

You turn on the radio, and I hear "Drivers License" by Olivia Rodrigo playing. We both sing along with the radio. And it's hard to believe a few days ago you were upset with me about moving again. One year ago, you moved into my small apartment, and you had just adjusted to Atlanta. I can see things from your point of view, but I wanted to attend law school in Memphis. I'm just over Atlanta.

I am being completely selfish. One year ago, we both lost our mom and dad in a tragic house fire. You lost your home and both parents as a teenager. Now you've adjusted to a new school, got a job, and have a boyfriend. I was wanting to take you away from everything. All because I wanted to move.

"I have been thinking, I can move to Memphis with you. Ryan and I can do long distance for a year. I want to support my sister, " Amy says as I continue to try and get us to the movie theater.

"We don't have to decide today. I know it's your senior year. If you really want to stay here and live with Ryan, I support you. You'll be eighteen next month, anyways. " I said, realizing that you are an adult now.

"Thank you so much. I love you, " she says, smiling.

"I love you too, " I said, turning right. This is when everything changed. I heard a honking noise, but it was too late. Another car had crashed into us.

I see you lying there. Glass is in your hair and there is a lot of blood.

"Amy, you can't leave me. I'm sorry I haven't been there. I just thought we'd have more time. Please stay with me, " I begged.

But that night I was told what I already knew. My sweet, beautiful sister was gone.

And my life would never be the same again.
