A/N : Hello everyone, today I am presenting you my story story : 'A God in Alagaësia' !
Unlike the precedent stories I wrote, this one will take place in the fantastical World of 'Inheritance Cycle' instead of RWBY, Harry Potter, Highschool DxD or Lion King.
This story is also NOT a crossover !
I won't tell you what it is yet as it would be spoiling but I hope you will enjoy it regardless. But before you do, I have some things to say first :
-For starter, thank you for all the people who commented on my precedent story and I also want to thank everyone who enjoyed my work so far.
-Secondly, in case you don't like this first 'chapter', then don't read it anymore in the future. I'm not here to force you to read my stuff after all…
-Thirdly, I have terrible news, because of a crash of my computer, I lost many folders… and one of them contained the first chapters of the second book of my story 'Vampires, Shifters and Teddy Bears'. It is with a heavy heart that I announce you that I'm stopping it completely. If someone want to do it then they have my blessing.
-Fourthly, I'm still thinking either I should pair the OC with Saphira or not… Tell me what you think in the future.
After reading wonderful stories such as 'Alagaësia's New Dragon' by Commentaholic or 'Sleepysaurus Rex's Riftverse', it had given me the idea of writing this story. I want to them for the inspiration and I want you to check on them if you hadn't yet.
Now that everything is said, I shall leave you alone so you could enjoy this chapter in peace… GOOD READING EVERYONE AND ENJOY THE STORY !

Our story begins in New York state where a young man lives whose fate would change his life forever.
It was dark outside but despite this, there were still some people out there. New York was not nicknamed 'The City That Never Sleeps' for nothing.
But it was not what was interesting us…
In Central Park, sitting on a bench, there was a 17 years old young man with blond hair and blue eyes. He looked to be around 6" tall and rather well built. However, if you looked closely, you could see him looking around with a scowl on his face.
His name was Erik and he was not someone you would call "normal". At least, that's what people around him said when talking about him.
But what was the true definition of 'normal' ?
Truthfully, this question is quite complex but in current societies, normality is often defined as a way of living, that is to say: giving power to a few elected officials who do not care about others, living as if nothing was wrong even when everything goes wrong, working tirelessly from dawn to dusk…
Normalcy, at least in actual societies, is also respecting the corrupted and twisted system and being a normal citizen (such as adhering to social norms). However, it's was also accepting the fake securities provided by civilization.
"You are safer in great cities than in the campaign !" They said… butErik knew better.
After all, people can still suffer and die in cities : car accident, drugs, kidnappings, rapes… Of course, some would say this also happens in rural settings, but it was rarer.
Why ?
Because no matter what people say, the more people you put in one place, the more likely there are to be conflicts. The causes were various : greed, jealousy, envy… Such feelings always lead humanity to downfall. And it has been proven over and over again throughout History.
Humanity had always been in conflict with its own kind since the beginning of time but back then, it was over food or shelters… Now, humans fought for wealth, prestige, glory and vanity.
Stupid things in Erik's mind.
Erik hadn't always loved in New York and in fact, used to live in the Wyoming State with his father. When they were younger, his parents were in love with one another but later, his mother grew tired of living among 'animals' and 'beggars' and so, the divorce started.
In the end, his father won and got to raise his son, much to the frustration of his former wife. Erik grew up in a world of trees, animals and natural landscapes. His love for nature was great and the best moments of his life were when he and his father would go hiking in the forest.
Erik learned everything from his father on how to survive in the wild, in case he somehow got lost in the forest. Sadly, his peaceful life turned darker when, during his sixteenth birthday, his father contracted a terrible disease : a cancer.
Since the diagnostic by a local doctor was revealed, Erik took care of his father as the man's health declined drastically as the time passed. But then, one morning, Erik, who went to wake his 'old man', discovered him laying on his bed, dead.
He had released a lot of tears that day…
After the funeral, due to him being underage, he was to be handed to his only living relative : his own mother. He had never met her before and he had been a bit apprehensive about meeting a stranger but had decided to reserve judgment until he actually meet her.
The meeting didn't went well…
Erik had grimaced when his biological mother (who was a famous lawyer) after she took him away from everything he knew to the big city of New York. From a world of trees and nature, he entered another… made of buildings, concrete and noise.
Erik had been fascinated by this new world at first… but quickly grew to dislike it : the people here were rude, arrogant, greedy and annoying and the amount of noise hurt his ears none stop. The air was filled with disgusting smells instead of the sweet aroma of nature and the few animals he saw were either locked or beaten.
Of course, he had tried to tell his mom about it but she ignored him completely and went as far as telling him to stop whining like a baby ! At this instant, Erik's dislike to his mother grew to hatred.
When he went to school (where his mother had enrolled him), the other students made fun of him because he came from a "poor state". They all came from wealthy families and therefore considered him a commoner. Erik's hatred toward his new home grew as the time passed…
To the point people started to call him 'the Misanthrope'.
It was not a word he would use to describe himself : he didn't hate Humanity… only those who lives in great cities. In fact, what he hated the most was CIVILIZATION ! It was thanks to this that Humans mostly turned into greedy cold-hearted monsters.
Due to this, he would do anything to avoid interacting with anyone and in fact, would always try to go to the only place where Nature was still present in New York : Central Park. However, when the park was closed, he would go to the Library as it was also one of his favorite place.
Erik would go far to do head to either of those places : missing school, taking short-cuts to avoid going straight home, etc..., which made his mother angry.
It was not rare to see the two of them arguing with one another with the woman ordering her son to stop his foolishness and start acting like a proper young man to which Erik would retort that he would rather die than doing that.
Then he would curse her and curse the world for allowing his father to die and leave him to the mercy of a woman who had never been there for him in the first place.
Which bring us back to present…
Erik was sitting on a bench in Central Park, enjoying his moment of relative peace. He and his mother had another argument the previous hour and he left home with anger. Once again, she had ordering him to start acting like a proper young man and he told her to fuck off before leaving the place, making sure to loudly slam the door.
"Fuck this woman ! Fuck New York Fuck everything !" he grumbled to himself with anger.
Then he looked at the sky, as tears started to run down his cheeks
"YOU SAID YOU WOULD ALWAYS BE THERE FOR ME !" He screamed to the sky as the image of a smiling father passed through his mind.
"But you are not...all because of this damn illness !" Erik added with anger as he punched the bench with his left fist.
A couple of tears fell on the ground, leaving behind teardrops on the grass.
"If you only you were still there…I wouldn't be here in this disgusting place…I would be hiking or camping..." he whispered tearfully as memories of him and his father having fun passed in his head.
"So allow me to ease your pain, buddy !" a masculine voice echoed behind him and he turned around to see a darkclothed man wearing a hood and with a gun in his hand.
"What do you want ?" Erik asked him with a glare and growl as he went back on his feet.
"You know what I want : your money ! Hand it over !" the hooded man snarled at the younger one while aiming his gun at him.
"Tough luck, man ! I don't have a penny on me !" Erik retorted with a hateful glare.
Here another reason to hate this place…
"Liar ! I know who you are and you definitely have money on you ! Hand it over or I shoot !" the hooded man snarled again while pointing the tip of his weapon at Erik's head.
Normally, people would be paling or pleading in fear for their lives… but not Erik. Instead, he glared at the man before him with nothing but pure hatred and disgust on his face.
"You wanna shoot me ? Then SHOOT ME !" Erik roared out challengingly as he took a step forward toward the armed man.
"Don't come closer, brat or I WILL shoot you !" The man retorted but this time, you could hear the hesitant quiver in his voice.
Erik didn't listen to his bluff and took two steps forward, still glaring at the man dead in the eyes.
"S-Stop ! I'm warning you : I'm going to shoot !" the man tried to say again but his hand was trembling.
"THEN DO IT ALREADY, YOU ASSHOLE !" Erik snarled defiantly at the man as he took another step forward.
Panicked by seeing him advance despite the threats, the bandit suddenly pulled the trigger and an explosion rang out. Erik suddenly felt pain and his neck and after touching it with a hand, his eyes widened slightly at the sight at it covered in blood.
His blood.
Looking back at the shocked bandit, Erik tried to speak but instead of words, blood came out and the young man felt backward. The sound of his body crashing against the ground pulled the bandit out of his shock and, quickly, the hooded man turned tail and ran away from there as fast as possible.
Now alone, Erik laid there in agony, as blood flowed from the bullet wound he had received. As life gradually left his body, the young man felt happy because he was preparing to join his father in the Beyond, and no longer alongside this woman or this world that he hated.
"Oh my god !" a feminine voice echoed from nearby and soon, Erik saw a blurry form standing above him.
"HELP ! CALL A MEDIC ! HE NEEDS HELP !" a masculine voice called as more and more blurry forms started to appear in his vision field.
But he ignored it all as his whole attention was focused on the sky.
"Father… I'm coming to you…" Erik weakly whispered to the beautiful dark sky filled with stars above him before adding in the same tone
"Mother Nature, mother of all, I greet you..."
With that said and ignoring what the people around him were saying, Erik closed his eyes before releasing his last breath.
(To be continue…)
