Eunomia Black was born with her sister Narcissa to Cygnus and Druella Black. A twin in every way, from the tip of her nose to the freckles they shared. A Slytherin through and through. However, where Narcissa was married off to Lucius Malfoy, Eunomia had run away from home, earning her disownment much like Andromeda.
Years went by, the sister nobody talked about found love. Another pureblood, which would've appeased her family, if she was in contact with them. Of course, during the war, when she was so labelled a blood traitor, contacting such ties wouldn't have solved anything.
Hunted by the Dark Lord's followers and himself didn't help either. He wanted her to join him, by force if needed. She wouldn't. So when her child, Celesta Hecate Selwyn (via birth) was born, she put added protections on the child.
In the case of her death, the child would be sent to her twin, who she trusted most in the world. But the protection she did...well. Some would say she shouldn't have done such a thing. Keeping a mandrake leaf in her child's mouth for a month, creating the potion and wrapping Celesta's hand around her wand while incanting the spell to become an Animagus.
It had gone better than she expected too, her child, blessed with albinism, turning into a snowy white fox, a kit at the time of course. For several weeks after the news of her husband's defeat she taught the babe how to transform using the barest of her magic, until she could do so without the aid of her mother's wand.
She'd been in hiding when she heard the news that they were coming for her. Putting Celesta in a basket with the letter she'd written to her twin, she called for her house elf, Luli, ordering her to take the child to Narcissa, to watch over her, and to protect her with her last breath if need be.
That was the last time little Celesta, only seven months old, saw her real mother.
Author's Note: I in no way own Harry Potter or any recognizable characters. If I did I'd be rich.
This is my first story, and yes, other chapters will be longer. I'm getting the hang of FanFiction and how to write the chapters all on my own. I will be writing when available to, but I do hope to have at least 1-3 chapters out per week. This will be a slow burn, of course, and will paint Narcissa and -maybe- Draco in new lights. I understand that this may not be to everybody's tastes, but it's in mine and as I'm the author, that's what matters, no?
