Hello, sorry for taking a while. I've started my Masters Course which means a lot of research is required but I am very happy to be able to still do some fanfiction writing when I have the time. Just to let you all know. I have used a song here from the Dragon Prince. Credit goes to the Dragon Prince. And other characters in here belong to their creators. Not me. These ideas were recommended by the reviewers who sent them It is they who deserve credit for the idea. I own only my made-up characters, not any characters from HTTYD, Raya and the Last Dragon or anything else. I am not trying to take credit for them. I am just trying to use review ideas.
Other Worlds:
Hiccup and Raya were riding Luna through a void of deep black sparkling with countless stars and colourful clouds of cosmic energy. "It's…beautiful," the former Viking admired.
"So much wonder," Raya breathed.
"You two will be some of the lucky ones chosen for this quest you will embark upon once your own is complete," their moon friend said. "Uh ah. Here we are now,".
The couple peered down and below them was a mass of blue sea with a mass of land marred in the middle by a line of burning orange. "This is my world. The Continent you see before you,".
"Is that line in the middle, lava?" Hiccup asked.
"Yes. To the west lies the Human Kingdoms. And to the east, Xadia. Home to dragons and elves. I will show you everything,". She glided to the west and over hundreds of leagues, Hiccup and Raya could see five kingdoms, all blossoming with humans dancing and singing and welcoming magical friends from Xadia. "This is the largest Kingdom. Katolis,". They came to the last kingdom with a castle standing in the middle of a giant moat. And down below they saw a wise king shrouded in red, with a purple star swan and a yellow and blue toad perched on his shoulder and a compassionate woman standing with a bright red dragon who offered generosity to the people.
"Can't they hear us?" Hiccup wondered.
"No. We are invisible. And this is a glimpse of the past in this world. What you both are seeing are some of the ancestors of the very people you will meet when you are summoned to my world,".
"So why are we seeing their ancestors and not them?" Raya asked sceptically.
"Because it is important you know about these people who brought peace to my world, the same way you two will to yours. The people you see below are King Ezran who bears the gift of connection to animals and his sister: Princess Willow who has the gift of foresight. Now I will show you two other people who currently reside in Xadia,". She took them far away from Katolis and ahead of them they saw the border of lava and a path that was cutting through. Over they went, then next over a rocky canyon and below them was a forest of multiple colours and magical nature.
The dragon landed and her friends dismounted her. And once they did, they heard laughing and the romantic wooing of a man's voice. Holding hands, Hiccup and Raya walked into the forest, feeling Luna's shadow standing tall over them. They passed a meadow of flowers and in the distance they watched a happy pair dancing amongst the flowers and playing with little, tiny furballs. A white dragon, a smaller white dragon, a little six-legged monkey and a red-coloured fox watched them with big smiles.
"Who are they?". Hiccup wondered
"That is the Moonshadow Elf warrior Raylan and the High Mage Human Caroline," Luna's head stretched between the trees. "They were of two different who fell in love and brought the Dragon Prince to his mother: one of my successors: Queen Zubeia,".
Raya and Hiccup admired the couple dancing with one another. The elf's hair was pure white as Luna's and his eyes were deep purple. His human true love had long dark hair and her eyes were the brightest green they had ever seen, ever darker than Hiccup's.
"When you travel to this land, you will meet not their children but their descendants,".
"But how?" Raya asked. "That is centuries in the future,".
"Time passes very differently between worlds. Now I must take you to see the Dragon Prince before I show you something else," they mounted her again and she carried them further and further on. After they passed over a desert of deep black like the void they had travelled through, a tall spire stretching into the sky filled their eyes. At the bottom, they saw an Archdragon the same size as Luna playing with her growing dragon who was blue and white like her. More dragons were playing with him including a female who nuzzled his face and licked his nose.
"You will meet the Dragon Prince you see down below. The Archdragons of my world can live for centuries,".
"Incredible. Just like Sisu and her kind," Raya breathed. As she spoke, Hiccup's face of wonder was pinched by sadness and worry. If Toothless was in love with Sisu and wished to pursue a relationship with her, he would die centuries before her and her heart would be broken in two for a long period of grieving.
Luna took them further over the land passing by a rebuilt Sunfire kingdom ruled by two queens: one human, one elf. Then they passed a forest grove where a blond-haired soldier was dancing with his Earthblood true love. "It's so amazing," Raya breathed.
"We must leave my world now," Luna said sadly. "There are many more I wish to show you,". And through the void between worlds, they went again. They passed over Middle-Earth where they saw men, elves, dwarves, and creatures with hairy feet.
"Glad I'm not a hobbit," Hiccup remarked.
"Glad I'm not an appetiser for seven meals," Raya remarked next. "I don't know how they can devour seven meals and never feel sick or full,".
"Hobbits have always been a mystery to me,". Luna said. "Three beings from this world will travel to Xadia as you two with your dragon friends will. They are the man: Aragorn, Son of Arathorn, King of Gondor, the elf archer Legolas of King Thranduil of the Woodland Realm and the dwarf Gimli, son of Gloin from the Mines of Moria. They are the closest of companions who played a vital role in helping a hobbit named Frodo to destroy the One Ring. Now they will be brought together again for this vital quest,".
Another void portal appeared and they found themselves soaring over a vast land where down below they saw a dragon, half the size of Luna. She was blue and her rider was strong and mighty. "This is another land of dragon riders like you. The rider and his blue dragon below down below you are Eragon Shadeslayer and Saphira who freed the land of Alagaeisa from the tyranny of Galbatorix. They are currently raising a new generation of dragons far away from the continent they left behind,".
"Why?" Hiccup asked. "Does no one like dragons?".
"He was afraid of becoming like the same Dragon Rider he had slain. And he wanted the dragons to live away in peace and harmony away from conflict,".
"Like me and Toothless," Hiccup wondered.
"And who are those below next to them?" Raya pointed to a child next to him with a smaller dragon the colour of purple.
"A child he has adopted and one of the first dragons to hatch. You both will meet them all in what's to come. Now there is one more thing I want to show you. I must warn you Hiccup, it will be quite overwhelming for you,".
"I can handle it," Hiccup promised, wanting to be brave and show no fear.
"Whatever it is, please let it not be too long," Raya begged.
Through another portal, and on an unforgotten island was a village plagued with burning huts and wounded villagers being carried out from the rubble. Hiccup contained himself. This was Berk in the past after a previous dragon raid. He had always understood why his former people despised dragons so much for the pain they brought to their village. So, it was not a coincidence that no one believed peace with them was possible.
Raya snuggled into his back comforting him. "Why are we here?" she asked Luna.
"There's something I want to show you both,".
Stoick was outside his burnt hunt grieving for Valka. But his ears blocked out the baby's cries inside. His world had been taken away from him just moments ago by a four-winged Stormcutter dragon. His precious wife.
The spirit of the Moon Archdragon poured her head inside and saw the baby Hiccup crying constantly. He had lost his mother and now his father had become so consumed by heartbreak that he couldn't bear to hold him in his arms let alone glance at him.
"Your poor thing," she lulled. Consumed by bright light, she walked into the house, human-sized and she towered over the crib. The bright green eyes saw her pink ones and the crying died down. Her long feathery tail coiled around the delicate infant and she sat down, using her paws to hold his head and lull him gently.
Though the sky is dark tonight
I still shine for you, my dear
The moon is more than just her light
I am near, my love is here
Baby's Hiccup's hands touched her snout and she breathed gently into his face making him laugh.
Though you feel so much alone
Oh, my darling, do not fear
Hold to what you've always known
I am near, my love is here
Though my face cannot be seen
The answer in your heart is clear
I am the moon, the silver queen
I am near, my love is here.
The child fell asleep and she held him for longer, keeping him safe and warm as his mother would have done.
Hiccup had watched the scene unfold. Raya held him close, shedding tears. Luna who was human-sized watched her past self stay with the infant. She watched as the present Hiccup's eyes shone with tears and he pressed his hand over his mouth and nose. He closed his eyes, wondering if perhaps it was Luna who had given him the love for dragons through her love and care. He turned his green eyes and looked into her bright pink irises.
"Thank you," he said, giving her a big hug which she returned. "You were there for me when he wasn't that day. My whole life all I ever wanted was once, just once for him to be like all fathers should be for their children, loving and caring,".
"A true father's purpose is to protect and give love. It's what gives him meaning," she said. "You may not have had that from Stoick. But you have that now from Benja,".
Raya nodded to her words. And so did Hiccup as he let her go. "We should get back,".
"I have shown you enough for one night," Luna decided. "I must return you both to finish your quest,".
Hiccup was rather quiet the rest of the journey back. Only the feeling of Raya lying against him in his arms suppressed tears. Luna took them back to the beach and they dismounted her comfy head. "Thank you, Luna," Hiccup raised his hand and her face came close to them.
"Be strong young one and know you are never alone. I will be watching you both always," she promised.
"Thank you, great moon dragon," Raya stroked her scales too.
"You are his light, Raya in all his darkness," Luna said benevolently. "And you should be proud of it,".
"I am," Raya held out her hand and Hiccup clasped her hand.
Luna smiled. "How lucky you both are. Very soon your Spirit Guide will come to you, Raya,".
"Do you know who it is?".
"This, you must discover for yourself. All those you both will work with are already meeting their Spirit Guides as we speak, friends who will aid them on their own quests before this ultimate one. Be strong Hiccup, Hero of Dragons. You will need great courage for what lies ahead. But when your need is greatest, I will be there for you,". Her words brought tears to Hiccup's eyes and she accepted one final head-to-head touch. As she raised her wings and hovered above them, she dissolved into the moonlit air.
"Woah," Raya breathed. "Just woah," she turned to Hiccup expecting his face to be pinched by amazement but he saw his lips pressed hard together. "Hiccup?".
"I don't know what to feel Raya. After all, we have just seen, I'm terrified. My whole life I've always dreamed of adventure, seeing new things, people like you and me. But until recently the only adventure I only ever dreamed of having was a life with you,".
Raya touched his face. "So, have I. I wish this wasn't happening either. But we were chosen for this ultimate quest for a reason. The only thing we can do is just focus on the now. Once our enemies are defeated, we'll get married straight away,".
"Right away,". Hiccup smiled and embraced her tightly. "I loved riding Luna with you,".
"So did I. She will be watching over us always like she promised,".
"And so will yours. Do you think you'll have a boy?".
Raya chuckled. "What makes you think that?".
"Well, I did have a female Spirit Guide,". Hiccup laughed with his fiancé. Then before she could react, her lips were pulled to his own and they locked. She sank into his arms as he held her tightly.
He pulled back smiling. "Let's be alone for the rest of the night. Just the two of us,".
"As you wish, my dragon prince,". She pulled him into a kiss again and the full moon shone brighter. Luna was touched by how their love was the light in all their turmoil.
(Six Years ago)
Toothless tried to get to Hiccup but Hiccup was being pulled away. Hiccup! He roared. He was nearing his shot limit. With all the Vikings ganging up on the dragon who couldn't fly away without Hiccup's help, Stoick prepared to attack the dragon.
Hiccup saw him. "No!" Quickly he bit his fingers into the hand of the Viking who had pulled him away. He let go and grabbed a shield, using a lucky effort to throw it at his head to stall him. He managed to put himself between Toothless and his father. Stoick just about paused when he noticed who had jumped in front of him but he didn't react quick enough. The tip of the blade pierced Hiccup's collar. He screamed in pain and fell back.
"Hiccup!" Toothless's eyes shot open. And he woke from his slumber. Unfortunately, his cries woke up all the other dragons.
Toothless! Complained Hookfang.
What's the big idea? Sharpshot roared into Toothless's dragon ears before flying off to a tree to perch on with Smokey following him.
We're trying to sleep. Meatlug moaned.
Relax guys. It's sunrise anyway. Stormfly told them. We need to keep moving.
"What's wrong, Toothless?" Sisu asked, moving to sit in front of him.
"I had a nightmare about the day Stoick wounded Hiccup when he tried to protect me,".
"Toothless, that wasn't your fault. It shows just how much Hiccup loved you,".
"I couldn't protect him that day,".
"Yes, you did. You saved his life and you've protected him for years. Just as you will do so again,".
"Guys!" Boun panicked. "Where are Hiccup and Raya?".
In all the commotion, Toothless had completely forgotten that Hiccup wasn't sleeping near him. "Hiccup?".
Hiccup! Smokey and Sharpshot flapped their wings in a state of panic.
"Raya?" Sisu roared.
"Raya!" the cousins sprung up on their feet.
The dragons took off to scout the island and the party walked along the beach. But just as they turned a corner, they saw a pair hand-in-hand walking towards them.
"Hiccup!" Toothless dived-bombed and before his rider could react, he was pinned to the sand by a pound of black scales. "You're safe!".
"Okay Toothless," Hiccup wheezed. "Please get off me!". Just as he sat up, a blur of grey and green pinned him down his neck and his face was flooded by two thin but slobbery tongues. "Uggh!" he groaned. "It's in my mouth!".
Smokey and Sharpshot were pulled off by Sisu who ecstatically pulled him and Raya into a tight hug. "Thank goodness you're both safe,". She put them down. "Now that we've found you two … don't ever sneak off like that again!" the pair froze at the height of her voice. "You scared us to death!".
"Guys, I had a nightmare," Hiccup explained. "I dashed off, Raya followed me … "
"Wait a minute," Toothless narrowed his eyes. "Don't tell us you two…"
"No! No!" They shouted together.
"We're not even married!" Raya ranted.
"Absolutely, not! So, you can forget you ever theorized that!" Hiccup warned.
"Where did you guys go if you weren't…"
"Boun!" Raya snapped.
"I'm shutting up now," the kid shrivelled back.
"We're still quite curious. Where were you two?" Tong demanded.
Hiccup and Raya simply smiled. They sat down on a rock and explained to all their loved ones, what the former had dreamt and who they both met.
"You met a dragon from another world?" Tong breathed.
"She was so white. Like the moon and her eyes…they were the brightest pink I had ever seen. Like pink tourmalines. She told me she's gonna watch us on our mission,".
"So, she's like our spirit protector," Boun guessed.
"Exactly, Boun. Exactly," Raya nodded. "You guys are not gonna believe what happened next,".
"Tell us!" Sisu ecstatically clapped her hands, eager to hear more about their nighttime adventure.
Once Sisu and Toothless had summoned the other dragons back, the couple told their loved ones about the three magical words they had travelled to. And how they witnessed peoples and creatures they had never seen before.
"Incredible. More dragons with magic?" Toothless breathed. "You're pulling our tails,".
Hiccup giggled, shaking his head. "It was a shock to me as well bud. I didn't even think it was possible. And it's not just that,".
"What do you mean?" Tong asked.
"The day after my … mother was taken by dragons; Luna was there for me. She held me in her tail and arms and sang this beautiful lullaby," Hiccup's eyes teared up to the flash of that scene in his mind. "She comforted me whilst Stoick neglected me in his grief,".
"I wish I had been there," Sisu wished. "Perhaps she believed you were meant to be a friend to dragons,".
"It makes sense that she sang to you," Boun said. "Come on, what else is there?". Raya patted Hiccup's hand and he saw her firm eyes. Now everyone was becoming worried.
"Raya … " Phuoc and Luong said together.
Raya decided to speak to spare Hiccup from the burden. "Luna Tenabris has told us that once we complete this quest and stop this war, the two of us and Sisu and Toothless will be summoned to the land of Xadia for another quest,".
"What?" they all cried out at once.
"She told us that there is a great evil out there in the multi-verse and that other people from other worlds like the ones she showed us will be summoned to Xadia. People like us who have been chosen, who have served their lands with dignity and honour,".
"We plan to marry as soon as this quest is over. From what Luna has told us, we believe a portal will appear and take us to Xadia when the time comes. We cannot ignore it however much we wish to," Raya said.
"We all go together," Tong announced.
"No. It's only us four that will be summoned to Xadia," Hiccup said. Smokey and Sharpshot flew into his arms, hugging his chest. "I'm sorry guys. Once we win the great fight ahead, we can't ask you all to risk your lives again. It's how fate has been written out for all of us,".
"For now, we must focus on heading north to our first island," Raya announced standing up. She pulled on her cloak. "I know how much of a shock this is for you. It's a shock for us too. The only thing we can do is stand together with all we have,".
"Then that is what we will do," Sisu vowed. "Let us focus on the present for now. Raya and Hiccup were right to tell us but it will do us no good worrying about what's to come,".
"Sisu's right guys," Toothless stood up and came to Hiccup's side. "We must find the King of Dragons and we cannot do it by worrying,".
Suppressing their fear of the future, the entire team mounted their dragons and they ascended to the clouds once again, following the rising sun across the sea.
Inside his quarters, Gobber was alone in deep silence. He held up a picture that was made for him years ago. It was a little boy with a Viking with a prosthetic arm and leg.
(Thirteen Years Ago)
Gobber was working in his workshop when little Hiccup came up to him. "Hello Hiccup. How can I help you?".
The little boy held up a large picture. "For you,".
"Thank you," Gobber took the parchment.
"It's you and me. Do you like it?".
"I love it," Gobber bent down to give him a big, squeezy hug. "You are so amazing at drawing,".
"I learnt it from the best mentor," Hiccup gave him another hug and Gobber felt deep paternal affection for the chief's son.
"I'll always have your back kid. No matter what," he promised.
Even after Hiccup's exile, Gobber had never burnt that picture. He had kept it for years. He remembered now how much he loved Hiccup like his own son. He only wished he could have acted properly on it. Sooner. He looked at the picture. Then his prosthetic arm and leg, his hatred sparking in his heart for the creatures who took them away. When he looked again at the kid in the picture, all the hatred dissolved away. A much stronger feeling was replaced it.
With his scouts, Benja spied on the army of ships with his own dragon: A green and gold Deadly Nadder named Skyblade.
"Any sign of activity?" he asked one.
"None yet, Your Majesty,".
"Good. Then it means we have time to prepare for any attack. But the big question is what are they intending to do?".
The cloaked and masked Namaari scaled up the large ship and peeped through a hole. She saw Astrid and all the chiefs discussing together.
"So, where exactly was Hiccup?" Stoick asked Astrid.
"He was on a small island with a large mountain that looked like an arch. In a palace. There's no doubt that that's where they're keeping Snotlout and Dagur. But they'll be prepared for any attack we may throw at them,".
"Then we must figure something out," Viggo said.
"In the meantime, I'm sending out men further out to sea as an extra barrier for anyone coming in or out," Drago announced. "And I must take another mission,".
"And why is that?" Stoick demanded.
"That is my business and mine alone. An old ally of mine has called me to his ranks and I must answer to his summons at once. You all just focus on capturing that runt and seizing the kingdoms of these lands,". He walked off. Namaari eyed him carefully and climbed up. A wood plank creaked.
Astrid heard the creaking and spun her head. She rushed to the window and pointed her head in several directions. No sign. She shrugged and ducked her head back inside. Namaari had managed to keep very still above the top window ledge. "Phew," she panted silently. She continued scaling along the ships using knives and all the strength she could muster into her arms and feet.
Benja kept staring out. The gentle fog was starting to lift. "Chief, look," a soldier pointed. He looked through his spyglass and he saw a masked vigilante scaling the ship. "I wonder," he breathed. But something caught his eye. On the same ship, he saw a hefty man with a peg leg and arm emerging from the lower decks, carrying a sack of items and keeping on high alert. "That man is trying to leave without being seen,". Could it be Gobber? The Viking who had helped Hiccup and his daughter escape? Was he betraying his people?
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. Once again, every character and the song in this chapter doesn't belong to me. Credit goes to their creators. Not me. I am not trying to steal them. They are just part of the story to help Hiccup and Raya prepare for another story that will be coming out a year or two later. Thank you to everyone who sent the ideas.
