What if the rowdyruff boys lost their memories?
Noah was kicking about a football on the empty PE field during lunch.
'GGOOAALLLL!" he yelled when he kicked it into one of the goals.
"neat" someone said from a distance.
Noah turned to see Buttercup leaning against the wall of the school building, a smirk on her face. his cheeks turned a soft light red at the sight of her.
"can I play?" she asked, beginning to walk over.
"oh, um. sure!" Noah said nervously.
Buttercup walked over and gently kicked the ball.
she then turned to Noah before explaining the rules.
"rule one: no powers. rule two: no fighting. okay?" Buttercup told him. that was when he saw the fangs in her mouth.
"got it. are those fangs?" Noah stated. he purposely chose not to bring up the fact that he didn't have powers, knowing with the way she was acting that morning that there was most likely no way to convince her of his lack of powers.
"oh these, I got them when we were six, I thought you knew that Butch" Buttercup told him, lifting her upper lip for a moment to reveal a sharp pair of fangs. the teeth right below them were shaped slightly differently than normal teeth, most likely to avoid scrapping.
"first off, its Noah and second, I don't watch the news much" Noah snapped back, shrugging at the end of his sentence and rubbing one of his black sneakers against the ground.
"Noah?" she scoffed.
"I didn't pick it, the social worker did" Noah replied.
"social worker?" Buttercup was clearly confused.
"me and my brothers all lost our memories 5 years ago, I don't remember why but we left to Citysville where a social worker found us in an alleyway and took us into custody. since none of us knew our names they gave us some" Noah explained, gently kicking the ball before picking it up and stuffing it under his armpit.
"oh" Buttercup said as her eyes seemed to become larger than they already were.
"meh. I'm fine with it, me and my brothers only spent about a month in the orphanage before we got adopted by a nice couple..." his tone dimmed at the end.
"did something happen to one of your parents?" Buttercup cautiously asked.
"yeah, my dad died from kidney cancer nine months ago" Noah told her, looking at the ground.
"I'm...sorry for your loss" Buttercup replied.
Noah dropped the ball and kicked it to her feet.
she looked up to see Noah faking a smile.
"so we gonna play or what?" Noah stated, changing the topic.
Buttercup smirked at him, a spot of empathy still on her face.
