Terra was in the capital's outskirts, using her golem to bury the orb Hiccup had given. However, she had no idea what was inside it.
"There," said Terra, and her golem spread across the surface, concealing it. "It should be safe now, but why was it so important to him? What did he say was inside?"
She then heard a massive explosion coming from the capital.
"Oh no," she gasped.
A few seconds ago, Hiccup and Astrid unleashed their spells. Hiccup's attack cut right through Astrid's, but that didn't stop it from striking and decimating a few buildings. However, the damage was a fraction compared to what it could have.
When the dust settled, only Astrid remained standing while Hiccup was buried in the rubble. However, her gauntlet and split in two, stunning her.
'We cast our spells at the same time; clearly, mine was the most devastating one,' she said. 'Yet his attack was able to split in two, which slowed down its momentum and prevented the town from being completely decimated by the impact. Even if it just hit my gauntlet, his spell had enough force to reach me. And it would seem as if he was holding back; he mentioned that the body I'm currently in belonged to his wife. How could a lonely human have achieved this level of mastery?' Her thoughts then turned to the unconscious Fishlegs and Owen. 'Though he must be exceptional if he beats those two.'
She began to wonder if there were any more humans like him. "It would seem as if I underestimated humankind."
"Hiccup!" Heather yelled as she arrived with the twins and Toothless.
"Don't worry, we're coming!" Tuffnut yelled.
"Hang in there!" Ruffnut yelled.
She then jumped onto her briars and took off; she was very certain that Hiccup was still alive. However, she used more power than she intended and didn't want to take the chance to fight against Heather and the others, not with the magic power she had left.
'I used more magic power than intended, so I'll retreat. It is best to wait for Licht and the others to arrive so I can ensure their safety.'
Terra was making her way to the source of the explosion when she saw Astrid leaving.
"Astrid," she gasped. "What about the capture of the Black Dragons?"
She turned round the corner and saw Heather and the twins helping Hiccup out of the rubble.
"Thanks," said Hiccup. "I guess I shouldn't have been holding back. This is Astrid we're talking about."
"I'm surprised she didn't want to finish the job," said Ruffnut.
"She probably would have if you guys hadn't arrived," said Hiccup. He then noticed Terra staring at them. "Ah, it's Terra, isn't it? What are you doing here? And what about the thing I gave you?"
"I hid it in a safe place," she said. "And I thought you were going to save Astrid?"
"Hey, it's not like I can snap my fingers and bring her back," Hiccup pointed out.
"There must be a way to reverse the spell," said Heather.
"Hopefully, I'm sure we'll be able to discover something in time, but time is something we have very little of," said Hiccup. "Every second that goes by, these elves terrorise the country, and they have the strength to back up their words."
"So what do we do?" Tuffnut asked.
Hiccup looked at Terra. "I want you to locate any other Magic Knights you can find. Tell them that I'm taking temporary command of the Magic Knights by orders of the Wizard King and to prioritise saving the citizens."
"Right," said Terra, saluting and then ran off.
"And us? What are we going to do?" Heather asked.
"What we must," said Hiccup and then drew out his magic communicator. "This is Hiccup Haddock, Captain of the Black Dragons; the Wizard King had been mortally wounded and has transferred all command to me. Our kingdom is now suffering the greatest threat it's faced since the demon attack 300 years ago; our fellow Magic Knights have been possessed by vengeful spirits that wish to wipe out humanity, and their strength has increased exponentially. All non-possessed Magic Knight captains should make their way to the capital as quickly as possible. Everyone else must prioritise protecting the citizens. Do not engage the possessed mages unless it is absolutely necessary. This is the time that all of us need to push past limits."
Leon looked at his fellow Crimson Lion Kings. "You heard the captain, let's protect our kingdom."
Dagur smiled. "So Hiccup is in command; we might survive this yet."
Patry had listened to everything with his own magic communicator. "Decisive action, but even with all the Magic Knights under your leadership, none of you stand a chance."
Heather looked at Hiccup. "I take it that's not the full story."
"I'll explain on the way, but first, we need to make a stop," said Hiccup as his eyes turned to the medical centre.
At the Magic Knight prison, everyone was completely overpowered. Additionally, the Eye of the Midnight Sun members who had been held captive there perished when Patry implemented his reincarnation spell.
The battle had also caused many of the cells to be blasted clean open, allowing those who were incarcerated to walk free once more.
"What happened here?" said Johann as he stepped outside. "I don't have a clue what the commotion is outside, but I am detecting a colossal amount of magic power. Apparently, enough to destroy the seal on this prison. Whatever the cause may be, it looks like today is my lucky day. Now I'll finally be able to escape."
He then heard footsteps and saw him making his way down the corridor was Revich.
"Well, of all the degenerates I could have walked into down here," he said. "Well, Captain Johann, I'm sorry, ex-captain."
"Believe me, I'm just as surprised as you are," said Johann, narrowing his eyes. "I thought for certain that I had seen the last of Chain Magic Revich. How long has it been?"
Revich gave him a small chuckle.
"Unfortunately, I'm in a hurry, so we'll have to reserve the reminiscing for a never time," said Johann.
"That might be more convenient for you, but I'm afraid it simply isn't going to work for me. As you may recall, sir, you sent me on the assignment two years ago, leaving me with this unsightly scar." He then pulled his hair back, revealing the scar on the left side of his face. "And after the mission resulted in failure, you placed the blame on me, and my status as a member of the Purple Orcas was permanently revoked."
"Oh, is that it?" Johann scoffed. "It serves you right that you were banished; I believe your squad mates weren't terribly fond of you anyway. Not a single one of them was willing to take your side if I remember correctly."
"Isn't that rich? It seems like you're not very popular either; why else would the previous captain of the Purple Orcas had to be locked away to rot down here in this underground prison?"
"You have no right to justify the behaviour, captain, seeing as you're always perfectly content to allow everyone around you to move up in rank while you consistently dodged any mission that appeared remotely dangerous."
"You shouldn't accuse me of dodging when your Transparency Magic is nothing but dodging!"
"It's far better than your cowardly Chain Magic. Sealing the power of any mage you meet so that you don't have to fight."
The two of them were now face-to-face and began yelling at each other.
"If it wasn't for that embittered little upstart and his Anti-Magic abilities, there wouldn't be anyone in Clover Kingdom who can stand in my way!" they yelled in perfect unison.
The two of them instead looked at one another.
"What, you too?" said Revich.
"It feels as if we feel the same," said Johann.
However, they didn't have time to share their disdain for Dak as something crashed through the ceiling. They turned and came face-to-face with the possessed Silver Eagle.
'His magic power is enormous,' Revich stared. 'I can tell that without using my chains.'
The Silver Eagle looked at the two of them. "There are humans here as well."
'Is he one of the people destroying the city?' said Revich, sweating.
Johann narrowed his eyes. 'The Eye of the Midnight Sun is behind all this chaos? If so, it seems as if I may have gotten involved in a rather deadly organisation.'
"We've been instructed to massacre any humans we see, all of you," said the Silver Eagle.
"Wait!" said Johann. "I assure you I am not your enemy. In fact, I may even be able to aid your endeavours. Please let me speak to your leader."
The Silver Eagle instead conjured up sharp spears of water. "We refuse to be fooled by you wicked humans again. You all die, everyone, no matter who you are!"
"Oh, we all die?" said Johann as he opened his grimoire. "I suppose we have no other choice than Revich."
"It kills me to say this, but you're right," said Revich as he, too, opened his grimoire. "If he's threatening our lives, there's only one thing to do."
'Transparency Magic: Invisible Seeker plus Invisible Travelling Companion,' said Johann as they disappeared.
The Silver Eagle stared. "They're gone. And their magic power disappeared with them? In that case, I'll tear apart this whole area!"
He then unleashed his water spears across the corridor, hoping to hit them with various attacks. However, seconds after he launched his spell, chains appeared out of nowhere and wrapped themselves around him.
'Chain Creation Magic: Magic Binding Iron Chain Formation!' Revich yelled.
The Silver Eagle then noticed that his magic power had been sealed, leaving him helpless. 'Did he just seal away my magic power? Impossible, I said, was far superior to theirs. What kind of techniques are those?'
"Now that he is taken care of, we should be home free," said Revich. "Finally, these poor eyes of mine will see the light of day once more."
"Indeed," said Johann as he became visible. "I knew it wasn't my fate to die in here. Revich, let us make haste to clear our sullied names once and for all."
"Excellent idea," said Revich.
The two of them then walked away.
Meanwhile, Adelaide and Carl were daunted by the magic power Luck, and Ben gave out at the Eye of the Midnight Suns hideout.
"Why is that kind of magic power coming from you?" Adelaide asked, looking at Luck, who just smiled menacingly.
'Adelaide's right. There is something terribly malicious at play here,' said Carl, recognising the feeling of this magic power giving off. 'Much like that House Vaude fellow. Pearson magic power, indeed.'
Then, the two of them began to hug one another as if they hadn't seen one another for years.
"Finally, we've made it back," said Ben.
"Let me kill them," said Luck.
Ben smiled. "You're energetic, considering you've just awakened."
"Yeah, that's why I'm so pumped, extra pumped, actually."
Luck then turned to face them.
"Oh dear," said Carl, not liking when this was headed.
Luck then began to remove his robe. "This thing is in the way."
"Luck, I don't get it," Adelaide frowned. "What are you…"
Luck then raised his hand and began to charge it with electricity. "I was hoping this would be a challenge, but they are human."
He fired a lightning bolt directly at Adelaide, but it missed by a few inches. However, it struck the stone wall behind and continued, nearly hitting Cob, who was also possessed.
Adelaide just stared at Luck; if that attack had hit a square, she would have died.
"Missed ya," said Luck. "Looks like I've gotten a little rusty. Let's try again."
Carl wasn't about to let that happen. "Cherry Blossom Magic: Raging Cherry Blossom Storm of Petals!"
He then created a massive storm of cherry blossoms that hid them from view.
"I don't know what caused this changing them, but they certainly aren't the people they were before," said Carl. "You should prepare yourself to fight beautifully, Adelaide!"
"But…" said Adelaide, still too stunned to move. "…it's Luck; he's a member of the Black Dragons. He's my friend."
"Adelaide!" Carl yelled.
"Hmm, I can't see," said Luck. "Which means there's no point in trying to aim. That's okay." He then began to charge himself with electricity, covering himself in lightning-like armour with lightning-shaped porn sticking out of his forehead. "I'll try Plan B."
"His strength is growing!" Carl yelled. "You a defensive spell!"
"Why Luck, stop this. We're friends," Adelaide cried and then quickly raised her wand. "Water Creation Magic: Sea Dragon's Lair!"
She created a water barrier around, but that didn't stop Luck. He moved with surprising speed, tearing through the Cherry Blossom storm and penetrating the barrier.
'Brainwashing?' said Carl. 'No, even the essence of their power has changed.'
'Luck is fighting on a totally different level,' said Adelaide.
"The spells have a certain feel to them," said Luck, looking at the two of them. "Let me guess your royalty?"
Adelaide's eyes widened. "You don't…"
"And what if we said yes?" Carl asked. "Would you treat my lovely self differently then?"
"I knew it," said Luck. "This fight is getting better by the second."
Dak's team were now face-to-face with Rhya after his transformation.
"Is this guy pulling my leg or what?" Zora asked. 'He was overpowered from the beginning, but now it feels like he's about to blow the roof off.'
Victoria frowned, not liking the feeling of mana surrounding him.
"Like I said, deception is kind of my thing," said Rhya. "And since I'm a liar, I can tell whenever people are lying too." He then looked directly at Dak. "Look, Mister Anti-Magic, what you said a little while ago… I know you meant every word. Too bad, really, for a split second, I was actually moved."
'Just like the last time,' he said as he remembered what Lumiere had said to the elves. 'There were no lies in anything he said, so I trusted him. And what did it get me?' He then remembered the elf massacre. 'That. So you see, I'm done with trusting.'
He then began to open his grimoire. "And to show you that I mean it, I'll kill you. Copy Light Magic: Light Swords of Conviction! Copy Dark Magic: Lightless Slash!"
He then suddenly unleashed a combination of light and dark magic straight at them at the same time.
'Two different techniques at the same time?' Dak gasped.
"Mana Zone! Calidus Brachium Barrage!" Victoria yelled.
She then quickly began swinging her blazing fist, destroying the attacks.
"Do you see what I'm saying now?" said Victoria to Dak. "To them, there is no getting along, no matter how badly you want it. They are determined to kill every one of us and wipe out all the Clover Kingdom."
"Maybe they are, but I'll still win," said Dak as he drew his swords. "And I will make a way for us to get along."
"The road to mutual understanding is closed, pal," said Rhya.
"I don't care, I'll open it back up," said Dak.
"Fine, fine," said Victoria. "You can try, but you better make it quick. Otherwise, I'll kill him myself."
"Right," Dak nodded.
"Now! Calidus Brachium!" she yelled, swinging her blazing fist.
'If she manages to hit me with that move of hers, there's no way I'm going to make it out of this place with my life,' said Rhya. He then suddenly moved with blinding speed and entered through a spatial portal. 'I better stay on my toes.'
They watched as he moved with blinding speed, jumping from portal to portal.
'A combination of Spatial and Light Magic?' Victoria stared.
'He's using the light spell to make him more agile,' said Zora.
'Valty's Spatial Magic is the perfect thing to keep her hitting me with that attack,' said Rhya as he dodged Victoria's attack. 'It's at the old codger isn't around anymore, but at least I got something good out of him.'
He continued to move at blinding speed, and Dak was having a hard time keeping track, deflecting his light spell attacks with his swords.
"Copy Spatial Magic: Mirrored Black! Copy Light Magic: Sky Rending Flash!" he yelled.
"You can't dodge forever!" Victoria yelled.
She kept on swinging her fists while Dak blocked the attacks with his swords, but Zora could only try to dodge the attacks. Then, one of the attacks grazed Victoria's shoulder and Dak's leg.
"Seriously, this jerk is untouchable," said Zora.
Then the entire room began to shake, and breaking through the ceiling was Gusta, who floated down towards them with several giant snakes behind him that he had created.
"Gustav, is that you?" Dak asked.
It was indeed Gustav, but he, too, had been possessed by an elf.
"Hey, Rhya!" Gustav waved. "Good to see ya. I am so happy that you are awake."
Rhya smiled as he went and joined him. "Hey, Lira. You're just as hyperactive as I remember."
"Why would I be?" Lira asked. "And you still got that goofy-spaced outlook on your face."
"Can it, kid."
Lira burst into tears, and everyone's surprise had Rhya as if he were a long-lost friend.
"Oh, Rhya, I missed you so much," he said.
"Will you stop being a little pain already," said Rhya, looking annoyed.
"I'm just really happy."
"Well, go be happy over there."
"Hey, Gustav, why are you hugging that monster?" Dak demanded.
Lira just ignored him. "You know my ability has a fancy name now… Picture Magic."
"Nice," said Rhya.
"You do realise you tried, right?!" Dak yelled. "Or did you forget?"
"Say what?" Lira frowned, confused. "I'm confused."
"You are?! We were in the middle of a fight, and you suddenly busted, and you guys are all buddy-buddy?"
"Do I know you?" Lira asked, looking at him blankly.
"What the… Gustav?" Dak stared.
"Who's Gustav?" Lira asked. "Didn't you hear my name is Lira?"
"What's going on?" said Dak, confused.
'The Captain of the Grey Deer, his magic power has gone from crazy to ludicrous just like Mr Copycat over there,' said Zora. 'That spatial mage from the Golden Dawn, his felt the same way. Was that an omen?'
Victoria frowned. 'Whatever this is, it must have boosted their strength. I can tell from the change in their auras it's not brainwashing. That little one doesn't even recognise the rookie at all any more. Have they been possessed by other people?'
"It's me, your friend Dak!" Dak yelled. "The two of us are Magic Knights. How can you possibly forget a big loudmouth like me?"
"Yeah, you're loud and super annoying," Lira agreed and then looked at him with a murderous expression. "And there's no way I would ever have a human as a friend. I know how to shut you up, so check out this Picture Magic technique. Four-Headed Limb Worm."
The four-headed certain he had created now began conjuring magic attacks from its four different mouths, each with a different magic attribute. They then began to shoot out lightning, water, fire, and poison directly at them.
"You're no match for me!" Victoria yelled, swinging her blazing fists, taking up the lightning and water attacks.
Dak swung his sword, cutting through the poison attack, and Zora used a trap spell to block the fire attack.
"He's obviously being controlled by some enemy spell," said Zora, looking at Dak. "You should try smacking him with your Anti-Magic sword."
"Right, I'm on it!" Dak nodded.
"Sorry, guys. You can throw whatever you want at us. It's never going to reach us now," said Rhya.
"We'll see about that," said Zora, smiling and creating a number of trap spells. "You think I've been standing here twiddling my thumbs the whole time? Ash Trap Magic activate!"
The trap spells activated, unleashing a cloud of ash, paralysing them and blocking their vision field.
"Oh, I see," said Rhya. "You are setting something up for us too, huh? Big deal, a paralysing trap isn't going to help you much."
"Can't see," said Lira, unable to see through the ash. "But we're good at picking up other people's power, so I'm sure we can still wipe the floor with you guys either way."
"Let's see if you feel that way after this one gets through ya," said Zora. "He is a magic list monster."
Dak was now in his dark form and shot out of the ash, cutting through the four-headed serpent's heads.
"He's got Anti-Magic coursing through his whole body," said Rhya.
"Hey, where are you!" Lira yelled.
"Snap out of it, Gustav!" Dak yelled, swinging his sword at him.
Lira was quickly grabbed by a flying creature of his creation, which pulled him out of the way. However, Dak was able to land a glazing below.
'Grazed him,' said Dak satisfied. 'It's not much, but it should be enough to break the…'
He then returned back to normal on the ground and saw that his attack had no effect on him.
"That hurt me, you know," said Lira. "What's your problem?"
'It's no good,' said Dak as he returned to normal.
"Man, I thought for sure that was going to work," said Zora.
"Sorry, but thanks to Reincarnation Magic, we elves have been awakened in the human forms," said Rhya.
"Isn't that something?"
"Whether you understand it or not, the sole transferring process is complete, which means these bodies belong to us now."
'Reincarnation? Elves?' Dak frowned. He then pointed his sword at Rhya. "Quit messing around! Bring Gustav back—"
Then, suddenly arriving on the scene were the rest of Gustav's team, who had transformed. Thanks to the wings they had sprouted, they were floating down the hole in the ceiling, no doubt thanks to Puli's magic.
"The whole of them too?" Dak stared.
'This is bad,' said Zora horrified. 'Every one of them is giving off a crazy amount of power. We won't last five minutes against them.'
He then looked at Dak. "Time to go, come on."
"You want to run? Really?" Dak stared. "We can't just leave them. No way, not yet!"
"Moron, there's nothing we can do to save them right now. That's why we should retreat and devise a plan, bird brain."
"Yeah, you're right," Dak agreed reluctantly. "But I don't like it."
"What's the alternative? I know you, and you can't kill your buddies."
"Neither can you, but you can't get away either, so you two wins are out of options," said Rhya.
"This is pitiful," said Victoria.
She quickly spun around and swung her blazing fists, punching a hole through the wall. She then conjured her flaming lion paws and grabbed Dak and Zora, tossing them into the hole she had just made.
"Run along home now, children!" she yelled, punching the wall with her flaming fists.
"But Captain!" Dak yelled as rubble fell, blocking the entrance.
Victoria then turned to face Rhya and the other elves.
"Ah, so you want to stay here and slow us down so they can run back with their tails between their legs," said Rhya. "You seem like a benevolent leader, Madam Royal."
They then attacked Victoria, who knocked them back with her flaming fists.
"Fool," she said, smirking. "You don't understand a thing, do you? I sent those novices home because they were getting in my way. Slow you down? Don't make me laugh; I wanted the chance to obliterate all of you personally!"
