Chapter 3

The classroom hummed with the excited chatter of soon-to-be Genin, anticipation thick in the air as they waited for their team assignments. Naruto and Kazumi sat side by side, as usual, though Naruto's foot tapped impatiently under his desk.

"Wonder who we'll get stuck with," Naruto muttered to his sister, barely containing his nervous energy.

Kazumi shrugged, but her eyes held a hint of curiosity. "As long as it's not someone who hates Furball-sama or 'The Demon-Brats'," she whispered back with a smirk, sharing in Naruto's anticipation.

"Oi, kits, did I just hear something!?": Kurama exclaimed, having just awoken from a nap, by a sudden urge to rage at the brats.

"Oh, nothing, nothing, Kurama": Naruto calmed him down.

Their banter was interrupted as the door creaked open, and Iruka entered, holding a list of team assignments. "Alright, settle down!" he called, looking out at the excited faces of the fresh Genin. "Today, you'll all be placed in teams of three, and assigned a Jonin sensei to guide you through your first missions and training."

Naruto leaned back in his seat, folding his arms behind his head. "I hope we get someone cool, ya know? Someone strong."

Kazumi chuckled softly. "Knowing your luck, we'll get stuck with someone who can't even hold a kunai properly."

Naruto grinned back. "Hey, I'm more worried about you slowing me down!"

"You wish," Kazumi shot back, rolling her eyes with affection.

Iruka started calling out team names, his voice punctuated by the occasional cheer or groan from the students.

"Team 7: Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and—" Iruka paused as the students leaned in, waiting for Naruto's name to be called. But instead, he continued, "Keiji Tanaka."

Naruto blinked, surprised. "Huh?" He exchanged a confused glance with Kazumi. "Wait… what about us?"

Kazumi furrowed her brow. "We're not on a team?" she muttered, also confused. Her mind raced as Iruka moved on to announce where they would be waiting for the arrival of the Jonins

"Hey, Iruka-sensei!" Naruto shot up from his seat, his hand raised. "You forgot us!"

Before Iruka could respond, the door at the back of the classroom slid open, revealing the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, his old, wise eyes scanning the room. The students instantly quieted, their curiosity now piqued.

"Hokage-sama!" Iruka bowed slightly in respect, stepping aside to let the Third address the room.

Naruto sat back down, but his face still showed confusion, as did Kazumi's. They had no idea what was going on.

Hiruzen made his way to the front of the class, his gaze falling on Naruto and Kazumi. "I've come to address a concern I know some of you have," the Third began, his voice calm yet commanding. "You're wondering why Naruto Uzumaki and Kazumi Uzumaki haven't been assigned to a team, yes?"

The class murmured, and Kiba, never one to hold his tongue, spoke up. "Yeah, what's the deal? Did the loser and his quiet sister fail and stole the Head-bands? Or do they get special Treatment?"

"Shut it, Dog-Breath! And if you ever talk about my sister like that again, I'll make sure to shove them right up your fucking arse!": Naruto exclaimed having jumped onto the table infront of Kazumi.

"Naru, its ok. I didn't take it personal. Just ignore him, please.":Kazumi pleaded with Naruto, not wanting for him to enter a brawl infront of the current Hokage. Though it nwas comforting that he would protect in such a way immediately.

Hiruzen raised his hand for silence. "Naruto and Kazumi will be placed on their own team," he explained, causing a stir among the students. "But not because they are favored, or because they are different. Rather, they share a unique bond that no one else here can match."

The twins' eyes widened in surprise. They had expected to be on a team like everyone else, and now they were being singled out.

"A bond?" whispered Kazumi, glancing at her brother, who looked just as stunned.

"This isn't fair!" Kiba blurted out again, his arms crossed. "They should be on a regular team like the rest of us!"

Hiruzen met the gaze of the class with a calm expression. "I understand your frustration, but this decision is not based on favoritism. Naruto and Kazumi are twins, they have trained all their live together and are synchronized in such a way that no regular team dynamic could handle. Also they have a special power within them that needs to be unlocked and nurtured by someone who knows more on the matter than anyone else alive in the village!"

The class fell quiet, though some students still exchanged dubious looks. Sasuke, for his part, looked away, completely uninterested.

"By placing them on a standard team," Hiruzen continued, "their unique bond would throw off the balance needed for a traditional three-person squad. They have spent their entire lives training together, understanding each other in ways no outsider could. It is for that reason they will have their own Jonin instructor, who will guide them in ways that no one else could."

Naruto leaned toward Kazumi, still trying to process what was happening. "So… we get our own team?" he whispered.

Kazumi smirked slightly. "Seems like it."

"While the rest of you will grow as a team over time," Hiruzen added, "Naruto and Kazumi's path will require a different approach. This does not make their path easier—it simply means their challenges will be of a different nature."

A few students still looked dissatisfied, but most seemed to understand now. Iruka glanced at the twins, offering them a small nod of encouragement.

"So, who's gonna be their Jonin sensei?" someone asked from the back.

Hiruzen smiled. "They will find out soon enough. For now, focus on your own teams, your own training, and the bonds you will form in the days to come. Every one of you will face challenges ahead, and it is up to you to rise to meet them."

As the Hokage finished, the murmurs subsided. Some of the students still seemed confused or even envious, but Naruto and Kazumi sat in stunned silence, trying to wrap their heads around the idea. Their own team? This wasn't part of the plan they had thought up all those years ago.

"Well," Naruto muttered to Kazumi, "guess we're doing things differently."

Kazumi gave a small chuckle, nudging him lightly. "When do we not?"

A few minutes later*

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm, orange glow over the trees and open field. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, and in the distance, they spotted him: a man standing with his arms crossed, calmly watching them as they arrived. Ryota Tanaka, their new sensei.

"Oi, Naruto," Kazumi whispered, nudging her brother, "He looks serious. You think he's another stick-in-the-mud like Iruka-sensei?"

Naruto grinned, trying to ease the tension. "Bet he'll be cooler. Maybe he'll even teach us some awesome moves, not just the boring stuff."

As they got closer, Ryota's eyes flickered between them, taking in every detail. Naruto's boundless energy, Kazumi's poised stance—he could already see the potential in both of them, though he knew this wouldn't be an easy assignment.

The twins stopped a few paces in front of Ryota. There was a brief, expectant silence before Naruto, as usual, broke it with his signature energy.

"Yo! I'm Naruto Uzumaki!" Naruto shouted, flashing a wide grin. "Future Hokage and all-around awesome ninja! You better be ready to teach me everything you know."

Kazumi rolled her eyes but smiled fondly at her brother's enthusiasm. "And I'm Kazumi Uzumaki. Hopefully, my brother's antics don't scare you off, Sensei."

Ryota's lips twitched into a faint smile. "You two don't waste time introducing yourselves, do you?"

Naruto scratched the back of his head. "Well, we figured you should know who you're dealing with, y'know?"

Kazumi nodded. "We're ready to get started."

Ryota raised an eyebrow at their eagerness. "It's good to see you're excited, but this isn't going to be what you expect," he said, his voice calm but firm. "Tomorrow will be the real start of your training, and with that comes your first test."

"A test already?" Naruto groaned. "We just became Genin!"

Kazumi, however, narrowed her eyes, sensing something more in Ryota's tone. "What kind of test?"

Ryota looked between them, his expression serious but not unkind. "Tomorrow, I'll be testing more than just your physical abilities or how well you can throw a kunai. I want to see if you have something even more important—the ability to work as a team. Your bond, your communication, and your trust in each other will be key. These things will matter far more in the field than just raw strength."

Naruto frowned, crossing his arms. "Teamwork, huh? Well, Kazu and I are great at that! We've been working together since forever."

Kazumi nodded confidently. "We've always had each other's backs."

Ryota studied them both, a flicker of amusement in his eyes. "I don't doubt that. But there's more to teamwork than just being able to trust one another. Tomorrow's test will show me if you truly understand what that means in the real world."

Naruto's grin faded slightly, replaced by a more thoughtful expression. "So, what do we need to do?"

Ryota glanced toward the forest beyond the training grounds. "Show up here at dawn tomorrow. I won't tell you the specifics now, but be prepared for anything."

Naruto was about to protest, but Ryota cut him off. "Understand this—this test will determine whether or not you're truly worthy of being my students. If you fail, you'll be sent back to the Academy. But if you pass, we begin the real training, and I will teach you things no one else can."

The weight of his words hung in the air, and for once, even Naruto felt the seriousness of the situation.

Kazumi glanced at Naruto, catching his eye with a reassuring nod. "We'll be ready, Sensei."

Naruto, after a moment, gave his sister a grin. "Yeah! You better believe it, Ryota-sensei. We'll knock your test out of the park."

Ryota nodded, satisfied. "We'll see." He paused for a moment before his expression softened just a little. "I know this isn't the typical Genin experience, but with your abilities—and your bond—you'll have to grow fast. I expect a lot from both of you."

As they turned to leave, Naruto shot Ryota one last confident look over his shoulder. "Don't worry, Sensei. We'll make you proud."

Ryota watched them go, hands resting in his pockets, the faintest smile on his face. "Let's hope so," he murmured.

The next day*

As the two arrived at the training ground, they were supprised to not find Ryota anywhere. "Ugh, Please don't tell me we woke up this early, just for him to be late.": Kazumi said, hating having to stand up early. "Nah, don't worry he'll be here any Moment": Naruto said ever optimistic, earning a small frown from Kazumi.

"Actually I was here all the time.": Ryota said from behind them, the twins turning and jumping away in shock. "Sensei, don't do this to me at this hour!": Kazumi said, a tick-mark growing on her forehead.

"Im sorry for that, I unfortunatly have a knack for not announcing myself so loud. Come with me I have set everything up for your test.": Ryota apologized, then gesturing for them to follow him, leading the two into the forest. After a few minutes they reached the opening of a ravine that cut through the forest, with a old, almost rotten bridge hanging across the abyss that was below.

Ryota teleported to the other side of the ravine, pulling out his calligraphy set, settling in a cross legged sitting position. "Oi, Ryota-sensei, what are we supposerd to do?": Naruto asked confused. "Cross the Ravine. By any means necessary, you're just not allowed to use Ninjutsu and any other form of Genjutsu etc. If you were to use anything alese than what is on you you will fail.": Ryota answered, turning back to his calligraphy. "Well here is a bridge so we'll just use that. This test certainly was eas…."

Just as Naruto was about to finish his sentence a strong wind blew through the forest, taking the rotten parts of the bridge with him, sending the wood-planks tumbling down into the Ravine. Just two ropes were left hanging over the chasm.

"Great, just great.":Kazumi said exhausted as she gave the most disappointed face-palm you can imagine. "How are we supposed to pass now? Those ropes would never hold us both."

After almost half an hour of Naruto pacing around trying to figure out something and Kazumi laying there not being able to think of anything but just wanting to sleep, Naruto suddenly jumped into the air: "I got an idea!",getting both Kazumis and Ryotas attention.

After Naruto whsipered to Kazumi for a while, Kazumi reluctandly agreed, after murmuring something about not having any better ideas. Ryota watched closely as the tore down the two ropes and knotted them in such a way as to enforce the ropes with greater strength.

Then after tying one end around Narutos belly and Kazumi having the end in One of her hands, she took a small run-up, she ran towards Naruto, just before running into him jumping forward. Naruto grabbed onto her angles and using her momentum swung her araound like a professional hammerthrower before letting go.

Ryota jumped up in fear: 'Shit, what are they doing? She's never going to make it to me! I have to do something' But before he could do anything Kazumi arrived at nearly half of the ravine. With the rope now tightening she let a cry of power, using the force from the throw, catapulting Naruto to the other side, who landed there, securly on his feet. Then grabbing his end of the rope, using it like a whip pulled on it, bringing Kazumi safely to his side.

Ryota having witnessed this in a break of a second just stood there dumbfounded, while the siblings grinned at each other, Kazumi now finally fully awake, and giving tehmselves a high-five. "Do we pass?": Naruto asked. "We passed the ravine, so we completed the test.": Kazumi agreed.

Ryota after regaining his composure answered: "Oh yeah, you have passed that's for sure. But what was more important than actually having passed the ravine to me was for one to see if you would manage to get both people to the other side without anyone left behind, for second how you would work together, which I must complement you, Naruto, I thought that wouldn't work. For third I wanted to see if you would just give up at the sight of your task getting harder than it seemed before. Naruto I must say passed all of these with flying colors and Kazumi, your shortage may just stem from the early hour." He looked proudly upon his new students 'Haha I was better than you' Naruto said through their mindlink. 'Just you wait till we get home, there will be hell waiting for you' Kazumi nagged back.

"So, with this test completed we will start with your training tomorrow, until then you can do whatever you want. I honestly didn't expect for you to get it this fast, but I will report this to Hokage-sama." And with that he vanished from sight.

The siblings now standing alone but happy to have passed suddenly heard the voice of Kurama in their head: "I have to tell you something about your new teacher, but not now. For now get something to eat or whatever, I will tell you this afternoon, just come to the mindscape when I tell you to." With that he layed himself to rest, once more. "That furball really is only sleeping the whole day, right?" Naruto asked his sister. "Yep seems like he's only good for that and having secrets he won't share."

A few hours later, in the afternoon*

"Ah, I'm so full, Teuchi-jiji just knows his stuff": Naruto exclaimed, rubbing his belly with content. "No wonder you're full, after stuffing your mouth with 16 Ramen Bowls.": Kazumi lectured.

As they returned to their Apartement, they sat down:"So furball, how about that something you wanted to tell us?": Kazumi asked, entering their minscape, they had change to being a large cliffside, looking out on a large Ocean. The water represented Kuramas chackra, and through that his emotions. In the moment the watersurface was as smooth as a mirror, but they had witnessed states in which it would be like a hurricane hit the cliff they were now standing on.

The cage containing Kurama was levitating abovethe sea so he would be eye-to-eye with the both. "I swear to my creator if you use that nickname one more time….": Kurama cursed, the water now having picked up a bit of wind as it seemed.

"Oi, easy there Kurama, don't take it personal. Now what about our teacher you wanted to tell us?": Naruto calmed him down. "Well at first I didn't pay any attention to what the hell you two were doing, but then I recognised his chackra signature. Don't worry theres nothing bad about him, he might actually be one of the few villagers you can fully trust. He was the one who cared for and accompanied my previous container Kushina. He's from the Tanaka clan, a clan that is very proficient in fuinjutsu and have been attending to them for almost as long as this village exists. They were the ones making sure, that our seal was secure and we couldn't hurt anybody, even though I rarely wanted to just because, and they were besides the actual jinchurrikis propably the only ones who understood me more than anyone else could. He was the one working with my former container and actually talked to me a few times, a very smart fellow that Ryota. If you don't mind, I would like to speak to him tomorrow, I would need to take over either one of you. Don't worry I won't do anything, I just want to talk to an old friend."

"Well that's quite the revelation Kurama, but yeah of course you can talk to him. I volunteer for you to take over me to talk to him.": Naruto insisted. "Thanks kits, I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Good night.": Kurama yawned one last time, as were the two while the mindscape started to fade to black. As they left their mindscape they fell into their beds, reassuring themselves one time before falling asleep: "Together, we stand, unbroken!"

The next day*

The morning air was fresh and the atmossphere was charged with anticipation and exitement. As the siblings, still riding the high of their victory, waited for Ryota, eager to begin their journey as Genin and Shinobi of the village under his guidance, they talked one more time with Kurama about what was going to happen.

Ryota showed up a little later, still without making a single sound walking up to them. "I shall give you the congratulations of Hokage-sama, and of course again congratulations on passing.": Ryota began, his voice exuding a sense of calmness: "But I warn you, with this day we will begin with your training, I will push you futher than your limits and make shinobi out of you, that will be the greatest this village has ever seen, that much I can already see within you, your massive potential."

"Thank you for the compliment, but before we are going to start my brother and I have one thing we wanted to show you.": Kazumi insisted.

"Ryota raised his brow asking: "Well, spit it out, what do you want to show me?"

'Ok, Kurama, you can take over': Naruto signaled to the fox. Suddenly the pressure in the air shifted, Narutos posture changed, straightening up, exuding an aura of power and confidence.

Ryota stance shifted, his gaze became sharper and he furrowed his brows, while still exuding absolute calmness and control, channeling chakra to his hand, causing sealing arrays appearing around his arm, like tattoos that decided to come alive.

"Please, old friend, that wont be necessary, I won't do anything to hurt the boy or this village for that matter": 'Naruto' inqiured, his eyes now changed to a crimson red with a slit as a pupil, with a voice that sounded thousands of years old.

"You can never, be too sure. And I care particularly about these two.": Ryota calmed down, the sealing tattoos vanishing and ragaining his posture, before bowing slightly. "Its great seeing you again Kuarama-sama."

"Why do you always have to add the sama? I told you many times to drop it.": Kurama growled. Ryota answered: "You're a being thousand times older than me and thousand times more powerful. You're wiser than anyone I know and you were cared for by my family for decades. I think it's reasonable I adress you with a certain level of respect."

"That is true. I see you haven't lost neither your sharpness in sealing, nor you're way with words, flattering me like that.": Kurama chuckled: "I'm glad you are the one taking care of the my kits." "That I will for sure and might need your assistance with some of it, since I can't really explain them how they tap into your power source.": Ryota asked. "I'll be sure to help whenever you need it, old friend".

With that Kurama withdrew from Naruto, who regained conciousness immediately growing a wide grin: "Now that that is settled, what do you have for us Sensei? Sparring? Missions? Some cool Jutsu?" Ryota chuckled softly at the knuckleheads exitement: " Actually I wanted today to be more about the basics, so a bit of chakra control, kenjutsu and maybe even a bit of fuinjutsu." Kazumis eyes practically sparkled at that last one, while Naruto growned: "I already know chakra control and kenjutsu. And what is fuinjutsu even useful for?

He earned a punch to the shoulder saying that and was immediately barraged by his sister: "FUNIJUTSU IS AN ART FORM, YOU USELESS PRICK, IT'S THE MOST BEATIFUL FORM OF NINJUTSU, SOMETHING YOU CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO COMPREHEND!"

Ryota smirked a little at the banter: "While I understand the frustration, Naruto, chackra control is the basis of everything I'm going to teach you. Without that strong basis everything will come apart."

"But I already know chakra control, see?": Naruto said, while sprinting up and down a tree nearby without problem. "Well if youre that good, you can try, walking on water.": Ryota suggested, summoning a scroll seemingly out of nowhere throwing it on the ground and activating it.

Just as the seal was activated the scroll vanished and in its place, suddenly appeared a 30ft wide pond. "If you're that good, you can try to walk on it while I practice Fuinjutsu with your sister until you can sprint across the full pond without falling in."

"Psh, this is going to be easy!" Naruto exclaimed, going to the beginning of the pond preparing to stand on it. "Be careful, everytime you get to confident…" Kazumi couldn't even finish her sentence, before Naruto stepped onto the surface of th pond and sunk to the bottom like a stone. "something like that happens": she chuckled.

After Naruto came up again, Ryota explained, that he had to control his chakra to emit equally around his soles so he would create cushion of chackra to walk on. Naruto nodded and tried again and again while Ryota took Kazumi to just beside the pond and told her to sit down.

"Now, before I was lying a little bit, Kenjutsu and chakra control was more for Naruto, he is just way better in Kenjutsu than you, and also needs the practice with chakra control as it seems." Kazumi chuckled at this as Naruto once more sank but this time he was able to take two steps. "I'm surprised he's advancing this quickly, you two really are special."

"So what I want to do with you, Kazumi, is practice fuinjutsu with you. I noticed your exitement earlier and I think it is in your blood to be exeptional in fuinjutsu. You both stem from the Uzumaki clan, a clan that is known throughout the elemental nations for their sealing-prowess. This also being the reason for some nations banding together and wiping out the land of Uzu long ago. But that's beside the point. I, myself, come from a clan that is closely intertwined with the Uzumaki clan and has arguably developed more of a sealingjutsu knowledge over the years.

The Tanaka's are the one's that looked after every jichuriki Konoha has had over the past hundred years, including you two. But fuinjutsu is so much more than just capturing bijuu's and keeping them locked away, which by the way I'm not a fan off, but it's a way to shape reality to your liking. Not like genjutsu creating an illusion to trick the perception of reality, but really changing it to your liking. You can really do anything you like as long as you can find a way to put into a seal."

"Well all of this sounds awesome Ryota-sensei, but what am I supposed to do now? I'm finished with the exercise.": Naruto interrupted his sensei in his explanation. Ryota turned around surprised, seeing a proud Naruto standing there, wet but proud of himself.

"If your done with that you can sit down as well Naruto": Ryota said and Naruto plopped down beside his sister who looked at him proudly. "Now where was I? Ah, yes, sealing. So you two should hav inherited an exeptional skill with fuinjutsu. Both your mother and your father were experts in the art of it, so it should come to you naturally. Now how we are going to train is, I have constructed training scrolls, on which you can draw and by flowing a bit of chakra into the paper, not the seal, you can erase, whatever you just drew.": Ryota explained, while tossing them both an emty scroll and a brush with ink.

"Now to get you started, I want for you two to create a simple storage seal, here, I'll show you first so you have something to go off of." With that Ryota pulled out his own scroll and brush and went away with drawing. It was a mesmerizing experience, each stroke flowed into each other, Ryota worked in such a flow, it was surreal to watch. After a minute the seal was done. Ryota grabbed a kunai out of his pouch layed it onto the scroll, placing a hand over it and pulling a bit of chakra into it, the kunai vanished in a poof of smoke.

Ryota stood up and cleand of his pants: "Now its your turn, I doubt that you will get it today, but I will give you more time tomorrow and a few of my own scrolls on fuinjutsu and the art of sealing for you to read when you are home." And with that the siblings started, trying to copy what their sensei had just before them. It turned out that sealing was much more complicated than it seemed. If one stroke wasn't clean or the wrong symbol was chosen the seal either exploded in your face or simply refused to work.

Lazumi was the first to make progress, actually having the kunai vanish, but her seal was imperfect, in such a way, that when she activated it she almost passed out from chakra exhaustion.

Ryota caught her though and comforted them both, saying that it was normal for them to struggle that much. Though they were already better for the first day than anyone else he had ever seen who tried to endeavor in fuinjutsu. Even naruto was close to finishing a seal, but here it was his unexpected perfectionism which held him back. As soon as he drew a stroke that was imperfect, he immediately erased it, doing again until it was as good as he wanted it.

Their sensei though was impressed. They had shown immense potential and promise just on the first day. "I'm going to send you home now. I want you to get some rest and I have something to work on myself. Use the rest of the day reading through these and maybe talking a bit with Kurama. Knowing him he will need it after being ignored for a whole day."

The siblings snickered: "Oh we doubt that, the furball propably was sleeping the whole day." 'Oh no, they picked the same nickname as Kushina. I bet Kurama hates it.': Ryota thought. Then he summoned a few big scrolls out of his storage, giving it to the both and vanishing with a fond smile.

The twins took the scrolls home and quickly dove into the world of sealing. Surprisingly they didn't find it that complicated. The knowledge seemed like it flowed to them without any issue, subjects that would send any other shinobi into desperation, were like childsplay to them. They spend a good part of the night going trough the scrolls their sensei gave to them.

"Hey, Kazu, have you seen this scroll? At the end there are some notes on seals. 'Seals in Progress: Hiraishin Seals'. Have you ever heard of 'Hiraishin'?": Naruto wondered.

"No, I haven't, but we could ask Ryota-sensei tomorrow, what it is. Are there any notes on it?": Kazumi said interested. "Just 'Reverse Summoning' and 'Teleportation', that sounds interesting.": Both of them now started to scavenge through the scrolls for notes on summoning and Teleportation seals.

They did so until they fell asleep over the scrolls.
