Ch2
Pokédex Entry (Ruby): "Bagon harbors a never-ending dream of one day soaring in the sky. It's said that this Pokémon will leap off cliffs to try and learn how to fly."
Bagon's world had changed overnight. Since joining Brendan's team, life had become a thrilling whirlwind of new experiences. He no longer had to train alone—Brendan was always there, offering encouragement, advice, and the occasional well-deserved pat on the head. Their bond grew quickly, and soon Bagon found himself looking forward to every new day.
The journey with Brendan was full of adventure. Together, they traveled through vast forests, across shimmering rivers, and even into dangerous caves, where wild Pokémon tested their strength. Bagon relished every battle, especially when Brendan called out commands in that confident, steady voice.
"Bagon, use Headbutt!" Brendan's voice would ring out, and Bagon would charge forward with everything he had. Each victory brought a sense of accomplishment, and each loss only fueled his desire to get stronger.
What Bagon loved most, though, was their training by the cliffs. It had become a regular part of their routine. Every time they passed a new cliff, Brendan would stop, smile knowingly, and say, "Ready for another jump?"
And Bagon always was.
Brendan would sit on the edge of the cliff, legs dangling over the side, while Bagon climbed to his usual starting spot. He'd stand there for a moment, the wind rushing past, filling him with the familiar thrill of freefall. He would leap into the air, feeling the weightlessness, imagining the wings he would one day have. Of course, he always fell to the ground with a crash, but each time, he landed a little more gracefully. And each time, Brendan would be waiting with a smile when he climbed back up.
"You're getting better," Brendan said one afternoon as Bagon finished another jump. "I can see it. You're stronger than you were when we first met."
Bagon puffed up his chest, proud of the praise. He had come a long way from being the runt of the litter. With Brendan by his side, he felt like anything was possible.
Still, despite the progress, Bagon longed for the day when he could truly soar through the sky, just like Salamence. Sometimes, he would lie on his back at night, staring up at the stars, imagining what it would feel like to spread his wings and fly alongside Brendan.
Their travels continued, taking them through new towns and into battles with other trainers. Bagon noticed how Brendan always took care of him after each fight, offering potions when he was hurt and giving him time to rest when he was tired. The trust between them deepened with every day. Bagon wasn't just training for himself anymore—he was training for Brendan too, eager to grow stronger for his trainer and their shared dream.
One evening, after a long day of battles, Brendan and Bagon found themselves at yet another cliff, this one taller than any they had seen before. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the landscape, and Brendan looked out over the horizon with a thoughtful expression.
"You've come a long way, Bagon," Brendan said, his voice soft. "One day, you're going to fly. I know it."
Bagon felt a surge of emotion. He gazed at Brendan, his heart swelling with gratitude. This trainer had believed in him from the start, had never doubted his potential. And Bagon was determined to prove him right.
With renewed energy, Bagon took a deep breath and ran toward the edge of the cliff. As he leaped into the air, he felt lighter than ever before, the wind beneath him giving him hope that, one day, the sky would truly be his.
And Brendan would be there with him, every step of the way.
Bagon had grown accustomed to battling alongside Brendan, their bond strengthening with each victory and defeat. But one day, they encountered an opponent that would push them both to their limits.
The sun hung high in the sky as Brendan and Bagon traveled through a dense forest, searching for wild Pokémon to battle. They had heard rumors of strong trainers and fierce Pokémon in the area, and Brendan was always eager to test their skills. After a few minor battles, they came across a powerful-looking Mightyena. Its fur was sleek and black, and its crimson eyes gleamed with a predatory hunger.
Brendan's eyes narrowed. "This one's going to be tough, Bagon," he said, glancing down at his partner. "But we're ready."
Bagon growled in response, his tiny body vibrating with anticipation. He had faced many foes, but something about the Mightyena felt different. It exuded power, and Bagon could sense that this would be no easy fight.
"Mightyena, huh?" Brendan muttered as he prepared for battle. "Alright, let's go, Bagon. Hit it with your Headbutt!"
With Brendan's command, Bagon charged forward, his head glowing with the familiar force of his move. He launched himself at the Mightyena, determined to land a solid hit. But the Mightyena was quick, dodging to the side at the last second and retaliating with a swift Bite. Its fangs sank into Bagon's arm, and he yelped in pain as the pressure forced him to the ground.
"Hang in there, Bagon!" Brendan called, his voice urgent but steady. "We've been through worse!"
Bagon struggled to shake off the Mightyena, his legs trembling under the weight of the powerful predator. The bite stung, and Bagon could feel his energy draining. He slammed his head against the ground, trying to throw the Mightyena off, but the Pokémon's grip remained firm.
For a moment, doubt crept into Bagon's mind. He was small, weaker than the others of his kind, and this Mightyena was overpowering him. But then he remembered Brendan's encouragement. He remembered Salamence's words—the journey to achieving his dreams would be tough, but he had to keep fighting.
With a renewed surge of determination, Bagon forced himself to his feet, despite the Mightyena's hold. He locked eyes with Brendan, who was watching with unwavering confidence.
"You've got this, Bagon!" Brendan shouted. "Give it everything you've got!"
Fueled by Brendan's belief in him, Bagon let out a roar. Summoning every ounce of strength, he charged forward with a ferocious Headbutt. The impact was enormous—Bagon's skull slammed into the Mightyena with a force greater than he had ever mustered before. The Mightyena let out a howl of pain and staggered back, dazed.
Taking advantage of the opening, Bagon pressed forward, refusing to back down. He delivered one final, powerful Headbutt, and the Mightyena crumpled to the ground, unconscious.
The battle was over. Bagon stood there, panting, his body aching from the exertion, but the victory was his. He had done it. He had defeated a powerful opponent—one that had nearly bested him. For a moment, all he could do was stand in disbelief, his heart pounding in his chest.
Then Brendan rushed over, scooping Bagon up in his arms. "You did it, Bagon!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with pride. "I knew you had it in you!"
Bagon felt a warmth spread through his body, but it wasn't just from Brendan's hug. There was something deeper, something powerful stirring inside him. His body began to glow with a bright light, and Brendan stepped back in awe.
The warmth intensified, coursing through every part of Bagon's small frame. His legs grew longer, his body bulkier, and his head—his pride and source of power—became encased in a tough, protective shell. As the glow subsided, Bagon stood taller than before, his body now covered in sturdy blue armor. He had evolved into a Shelgon.
Brendan stared at his newly evolved companion in amazement. "Shelgon…," he whispered, awe filling his voice. He knelt beside Shelgon and gently placed a hand on his shell. "You've really done it."
Shelgon looked down at his new form, the sturdy, armored body that felt both foreign and familiar. The weight of it was comforting, a sign of the strength he had earned through his hard work and determination. He no longer felt like the small, weak Bagon who had once been pushed around by his kind. He was something more now, something stronger.
Brendan couldn't stop grinning. "You've grown so much," he said, standing up. "We've got a long way to go, but I know we're going to make it together."
Shelgon let out a low growl of agreement, his eyes gleaming with the same excitement and determination he'd had as a Bagon. He was one step closer to his dream of flying, and now, more than ever, he was ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.
The bond between Brendan and Shelgon had never been stronger. As they continued their journey, they both knew that this was only the beginning of their adventures. One day, Shelgon would soar through the skies as a mighty Salamence, and when that day came, Brendan would be there, just as he always had been.
Together, they would conquer the skies.
