As if Story 8 Birthday Surprise never happened
22 years old

Disclaimer: I do not own The Mr. Men Show or any of its characters, but I do own Elizabeth and the idea for this story.

Also I wrote this story a few years back, so a lot of stuff is kind of outdated, like I don't even think Jack lives in Ireland anymore, but this story takes place when he did live there.

"This is so stupid!" As he talked, the small man poked his head out of the bush, turning to where his best friend was looking through a hole in the fence. A branch jabbed him and he growled under his breath.

The light green Mr. Man glanced down at him with a frown. "I know," he murmured. "But we can't take the risk of being seen again." He spoke softly and as he talked, he glanced around nervously.

Mr. Small's anger increased and he glared at the bigger Mr. Man. "I just don't understand how, after so many years of nobody being able to see us, that suddenly two people noticed us." He jumped out of the bush and, checking to make sure nobody was near, he ran to the side of the fence that was lower to the ground. He hopped in the air but was too small to get over. He kicked the fence in his frustration.

Suddenly he was picked up and dropped on the other side. He waited while Mr. Nosy climbed over as well. He landed with a grunt and then stumbled to his feet. "At least not everyone is able to see us," he commented.

"Not knowing who can't and who can see us only makes it worse," Mr. Small snapped, heading toward the camper in the middle of the yard with his best friend close behind him. When they got to the door, he wasn't surprised to hear laughter and talking on the other side. She usually watches his voices with the volume way up, and even if she didn't, his voice would still carry because he was that damn loud.

For the first time since coming to this world all those years ago, he was worried about getting caught, so Mr. Small pointed to the door and Mr. Nosy reached over and opened the door. Mr. Small hopped up the steps and landed inside.

He walked around the counter, stopping when he saw his ex-girlfriend staring at him with huge eyes. But she sighed and relaxed when she saw it was just them. What got her so spooked?

"Don't do that!" she gasped, turning back to the computer.

The light green Mr. Man joined his friend, closing the door behind him. "Don't do what?"

Elizabeth glanced back at them. "Sneak up on me like that," she told them. "I'm watching one of Jack's latest videos," she went on, and Mr. Small thought, Yeah, we heard him down the street. "He's playing some kind of horror game," she said," where he explores the deeper side of the internet, and he has to avoid getting hacked and kidnapped."

"Sounds intriguing." Mr. Small jumped up beside her while Mr. Nosy sat on the crouch. The orange cartoon found his eyes wandering to her, noticing how interested she looked as she watched the video. It confused him. Why did she like this loud, Irish Youtuber anyways? All he did was yell nonsense at a camera while he played video games that he was terrible at.

What did he have that Mr. Small didn't? He saw nothing special about him yet Elizabeth still watched him every day and talked about him nonstop.

Mr. Small leaned in a little. What is his secret?

It was then that an idea came to him, and he hopped off the bench, heading to the door while calling out to his best friend to follow him.

"Where are y'all going?" Elizabeth asked, and the small cartoon turned around before he got to the door to see her staring after them.

He couldn't tell her his plan because she'd try to stop them. "I just remembered that we have something to do in our world," he lied calmly. "We'll be back later." And with that he was out of the camper, Mr. Nosy right behind him, looking confused.

"What do we have to do back home?" the light green Mr. Man asked as he took the same path his friend did, back over the fence and down the road.

Mr. Small hid in a bush, looking out when Mr. Nosy joined him. "Nothing, idiot," he snapped, ripping the leaves off that got in his face. "We aren't going home...yet."

"Then where are we going?"

At first Mr. Small didn't answer, only climbed out of the bush and stood by the other Mr. Man, knocking off the leaves and dirt on him. Finally he replied," We are going to Ireland."

Laughter filled the whole house, and the familiarity of it made anger boil up inside Mr. Small, but he forced himself to relax, repeating in his head why he was here in the first place, and hopefully soon, he'll have a way of winning Elizabeth back.

The voice beside him broke into his thoughts. He turned to look at his best friend who was crouching next to him. "I still don't understand why we are here," he confessed a little too loud, and Mr. Small slapped his hand over his mouth, listening to what was going on behind the door, but it seemed like the human didn't hear them as he continued to shout his head off.

With a sigh, Mr. Small let go of the bigger Mr. Man. He had explained his plan to him on the way back to where their portal was, even went into detail about what he wanted him to do. What didn't he get?

"It's simple," he told him slowly. "I go in and get his attention while you sneak up behind him and grab him. Understand?"

Mr. Nosy glanced down at the floor for a second before looking back up. "Yeah, I know all that. But," he added after a moment," I don't understand why we are here. He's just some human from the internet. Why do you want him?"

"Because he has some kind of power over people," Mr. Small said as he turned back to the door. "I want that power to get Elizabeth back."

To his relief the light green Mr. Man said nothing more.

Jumping into the air, Mr. Small hung from the handle for a few moments until he was able to turn it and push it in, opening the door. He peeked inside to find the YouTuber facing his computer, back to him and completely unaware of what was about to happen. With a smirk, he slipped through the door and kept to the wall until he was on the other side of the room. Still the human didn't even glance in his direction which started to make him worry.

What were they going to do if he was unable to see them?

He turned back to the door, shared a look with his best friend, and then he took a step forward. "Hey, human!" he called out.

The chair was knocked out from under him when he jumped to his feet. Wires were snatched out of the computer, and the YouTuber lost his balance and fell to the floor. He didn't give himself any time to recover as he instantly turned huge eyes on Mr. Small, who was slowly walking over to the human.

"Nice to have your attention," he declared with the tiniest of smirks, and he tried to reach for his headphones that were about to fall off his head, but when he did this, Jack stumbled away and the headphones landed in his lap.

Mr. Small took a step backwards. He needed to keep him distracted until Mr. Nosy was able to sneak up behind him. "I'm sorry," he forced himself to say, knowing that he had to fool him for a short while. "I didn't mean to startle you." He tried to move in closer, but the human backed away again so he stopped. "Are you alright?"

However he didn't answer his question. Instead he stammered," W-What are you?"

"I'm not from this world," he carefully explained, staying focused on the boy on the floor, even when he saw the flash of green in the corner of his vision, but it seemed like Jack was too shocked to even notice the other intruder. "I'm only lost. Can you help me?"

The human opened his mouth, but his own squeaky voice was replaced by a low one that sounded like it came from the computer, and a second later a loud crash filled the room.

Both of them looked up to see the light green Mr. Man standing over the broken shelf with shattered pieces of the human's belongings scattered beside it. Jack didn't even seem to care about the mess as he crawled away from the other cartoon with a terrified scream.

Mr. Small glared at his friend. "Nice going."

"S-Sorry..." Mr. Nosy lowered his gaze to the floor as if he didn't want to make eye contact with his little buddy.

Annoyance boiled up in Mr. Small, and he rolled his eyes. They didn't have time for this! "Grab him," he ordered, pointing to the frightened human, and almost immediately Mr. Nosy snatched him up from the floor as if he was trying to make up for his previous mistake. He held on tight to him even when Jack struggled to get free.

"Let's go before-"

The small Mr. Man was interrupted when voices started up from the computer again, that same low tone calling out to Jack while laughter could be heard in the background.

"Mark!" the Irish Youtuber started crying out to his friends, fighting to escape the cartoon. "Bob! Wade! Help me!" He took in a deep breath but was cut off when Mr. Nosy covered his mouth with his hand.

While his friend kept hold on the human, Mr. Small walked over to the computer and looked it over, wondering how Jack was able to communicate with them. He saw a microphone and guessed he spoke through that.

He tapped on it. "Hello?" he asked hesitantly. "Can you hear me?"

Still laughter on the other end, but after a moment that low voice spoke. "Bob! Wade! Can you hear that? It doesn't sound like Jack."

"No," someone answered.

"Jack must have gone to the bathroom," someone else said.

"No, there was another voice," said the guy with the deep tone. "Hello? Hello, who is this?"

"Jack's messing with us," one of the other guys said. "Maybe he muted us and is only talking to you, Mark."

"No, it's not Jack. I'd know his Irish accent anywhere. This voice is different. Deeper than Jack's, but not as deep as mine. Hello?" Mark spoke again. "Where is Jack?"

"He's here," Mr. Small told him. "But not for long. We're taking him with us, and you better not tell anyone because then we'll come for you."

"Who are you?" Mark demanded. "Are you a crazy fan that broke into his house? I'm calling the police!"

"Mark, who are you talking to?" one of the other guys asked.

"Yeah, I'm really starting to get freaked out," the other guy said.

"Guys, Jack is in trouble and we need to help him. Hello?" Mark was talking to Mr. Small again, but he had grown bored of their conversation. He looked around the computer and found a switch to shut everything off. Then he jumped to the floor and turned to see his best friend still holding Jack, who was staring at the computer with horror filled eyes. But he switched his attention to Mr. Small as he walked up.

"Let's go," he said, gesturing for Mr. Nosy to follow him, which he did, while still holding onto Jack and covering his mouth so he didn't yell for help. Mr. Small found the door they came out of and quickly opened the portal. He allowed his friend to go first and then he followed him, closing the door behind him.
