Chapter 8

Polly Cooper is on the run.

That news hit Riverdale like a hurricane. The Coopers are searching around for their daughter Polly.

Betty called Hannah about Polly being missing. So, Hannah as a hunter and detective mind decided to think about where Polly would go.

Hannah made a big map in her room and marked every possible location where Polly could have run.

Despite this, they discover Polly and Jason are about to have a baby together and leave Riverdale forever.

They had a plan.

It would have worked if Jason Blossom hadn't been murdered.

Betty had texted everyone in their Group. Her family seemed to panic, and the town wondered what Polly's connection with Jason Blossom was.

Keeping her phone on text, Hannah sent them a location where Polly could be.

Kevin Keller suggested Polly could be at school cause she often came in the morning for cheerleader practice.

Jughead believed she could be hiding around the back alleys since he recalled she used to sneak into abandoned buildings with Jason before.

Veronica despite a new girl believes she could be at a motel somewhere.

Betty said she was going where Pop's was cause she had a feeling she might be there.

Hanah measured the miles and feet to find the main location where she could hide.

Hannah would have continued mapping out the location if it wasn't for the sound of a banging on the Andrews front door.

She paused then slowly walked down to answer the door. It would appear she wasn't the only one.

BAM, BAM!

Fred was about to pour his coffee, but he heard the banging on the door.

BAM, BAM!

Fred put his coffee down and went to the nosy knocking.

Archie looked at his dad. "Dad?"

"Stay here." His dad told him, but sadly it had the opposite effect. Archie almost followed behind him only to stop near the stairs.

Hannah came downstairs. "Uncle Fred?"

Fred looked at his niece and ordered, "Go to the kitchen with Archie, and don't come out." Hannah quickly went and Archie took Hannah with him to the kitchen to hide.

BAM, BAM, BAM!

The banging on the door was persistences.

"Alright, alright!" Fred announced as he came close to opening the door. "Hold your horse-!"

He saw a big mob in their town, but the ones who were in front of the leader of this mob gave him a piece of bad news.

Sheriff Keller and the Blossoms.

Clifford and Penelope with Cherly look like they are on a murderous path.

"Sheriff, "Fred nodded and looked around the people so early in the morning. "What can I help you with?"

Sheriff looked exhausted and stressed. "I am sorry about this Fred, but the thing is…"

"Jason's murderer is on the loose." Penelope firmly spoke. Fred looked confused and questioned, "But I thought we got his murder?"

"Polly Cooper is on a run." Sheriff Keller told Fred and added, "Is it okay if we talk to Hannah?"

Fred isn't sure that is wise.

"No, I don't think so." He is standing firm. Sure, she did solve a case over the Fake Mrs. Grundy, but he crosses that line when it comes to involving the Blossoms.

"Please, we just wanted to check if she had any ideas where Polly went." The sheriff tries to assure Fred about the situation. He doesn't like it as much as Fred does, but Hannah would likely be off the suspects over Polly's disappearance. After all, The Sisters did mention that a girl whom Alice calls Hannah would know what happened.

Fred sighed and said, "Hannah already told me why she skipped school that day." That day Hannah told Fred that she skipped school because of Polly's condition and Betty wanted to know what happened to her sister.

He understood that, but he did ground her in place of her dad for a week and that was a week ago. However, Fred could tell that Hannah was a good kid.

He did sort of blame Betty for pulling her into this family issue. But Hannah for once stood up for Betty and said, "She just wanted to see her sister that is all."

Fred could sympathize with Betty about siblings.

"And I prefer you talk to the Coopers over why Polly is sick instead. Now please leave." Fred closed the door on them.

Fred sighs and shakes his head.

He swears it's like the roaring 20s for a mob like this. Who has angry mobs in this day and age?

He walked back to the kitchen. Archie and Hannah hiding behind the island table. "Okay, guys close is clear."

Archie and Hannah slowly got up and Vegas wagged his tail and licked his niece's hand.

"Dad, why does the Sheriff want with Hannah?"

Fred waved it off. "Don't worry, she's not in trouble. I have a feeling they wanted her to know if she heard anything from Polly." No doubt they wanted her to act like a freelance cop to investigate this mystery.

No way.

Not while he lives.

Hannah's phones vibrate.

She reached it and saw her text.

"Check the news. My family is on."

"Uncle, Betty said we have to check the news." She looked at the Andrews as they quickly went to the TV room to try every channel.

Fred presses the remote as he tries to see. At the urgency of the two kids to keep going and little arguments here and there.

Hannah noticed the scene where the Coopers are on. "Stop! There."

Fred stopped and they watched the news.

They all leaned forward and watched this scene unfold.

Alice Cooper stood and decided to speak.

"There's been a swirl of rumors today about our daughter, Polly. And we're standing here to tell you that they're all false. Yes, Polly was seeking treatment in a private care facility, and she was under strict observation even at the time of Jason Blossom's death. When she found out about the murder, she was beside herself with grief. You see, my daughter, Polly, is pregnant with Jason Blossom's baby."

All muttering sounded it out. Hannah choked on her salvia as Fred widened his eyes surprised. Archie shook his head as if he couldn't believe it.

"Polly wouldn't hurt a fly, let alone the father of her unborn child. Polly, darling, if you're watching this, please come home."

Alice Cooper tearfully spoke.

Fred quickly turned off the TV.

"Hannah," Fred spoke hoarsely. "Did you know about this?"

His niece cringed a little. She had a feeling she would be grounded for real this time.

Hannah looked at her uncle and said, "About Polly's pregnancy or that Nana Rose gave the blessings for them to get married?"

"What?!" Archie exclaimed. Not sure which questions though. About Polly's pregnancy or that Jason and Polly wanted to get married part.

Fred rubbed his face, and he heaved a breath.

My God, how in hell did Dean raise his daughter to be?

"I think we should talk about this." Fred stood up and then grabbed his keys. "All of them."

Hannah sighed and said, "Archie, I left my will to you so do whatever you want." Not sure if that was a sarcastic joke or real.

Archie nodded, but his mind was blank right now.

Hannah went with Fred to go.

He wanted her to go and talk to the Sheriff plus, the Coopers and Blossoms.

He parked his truck and they started to follow the group hoping to find the sheriff.

As the people started searching for Polly knowing that she was a pregnant teenage mom on the run. Hannah then got off with Fred. Hannah stopped to notice something.

What people didn't see was Polly's footprints that were covered with leaves. She bent down and gently removed the leaves. She must have misled herself and then noticed she was missing on shoe in the footprint.

'Oh Polly,' She felt bad for the mother-to-be. Hannah looked at the trail where Polly had left then slowly followed it.

Fred was about to call her but noticed her concentrated eyes.

He remembers those eyes.

His father had them before him and his sister. Once when he was a boy, his sister was with him. Their father once took them on camping and hunting trips around Riverdale's forest and mountains.

Fred never understood why their father wanted to teach them, but he assumed that it was his bonding time.

His sister never missed the target and Fred tried as he may never managed to get it right. However, his dad would assure his son that maybe he is better off going to school. However, he could tell that he disappointed his dad and felt his sister was the favorite.

Fred remembers that argument between his sister and his dad. He doesn't recall what it was, but he knew it was about him, His sister always defended Fred despite their dad wanting to send him to join the military to be a man.

He snapped out of his mind.

He saw his niece had found a clue. A white shoe that is covered with patches of blood. And judging where she found it, there is a small waterfall and river. No doubt to wash off the blood or get a drink.

"Hannah," He called out to her. She turned and said, "She went back to the town."

Fred nodded and called out to the Sheriff Keller. Lucky for both men she always carries a clear bag meant for evidence and places the shoe in.

Sheriff Keller bent down and took hold of the bag. He observed it. He removed his hat and sighed.

He couldn't believe this was happening.

"Are you saying Polly decided to go back to town?" He questioned her. Looks like she might be the future sheriff if she wants to join the force. Hannah nodded. "Positive. See there."

She pointed to where the river was going. Sheriff nodded with his approval noise.

"Usually, the reason why this town is called Riverdale. It's because Rivers can help point where the source for water for the town to be built." Hannah then stood up. "Also, if I were Polly, I wouldn't return the town for the people who put me away. But I will go back for someone I cared about besides Jason."

Sheriff widened his eyes. He quickly went to radio his deputies to call for the Coopers for Betty to answer.

Hannah reached for her phone and texted Betty.

'Betty get Polly out of here. She is at your house. Cops will be there asap! Get her out of there!'

Betty at the time reached for her phone and gasped. Polly was at her house and Hannah just hinted to the Sheriff where Polly is.

Hannah went to talk to Fred.

"Uncle, can I talk to Cheryl?" Fred looked at his niece wondering if it was a good idea. "I wanted to see if she wants to go home now. This might be too much for her about Jason's secret."

Fred nodded, "That is a nice thing to do. Go on, I will tell her parents that you will be walking their daughter home."

Cheryl was standing there, and Hannah went to her.

"Cheryl, we need to take a walk."

Cherly looked at Hannah blankly.

"I got your parents' permission to do so." She stared at Hannah. She was about to open her mouth, but Hannah didn't want to hear it.

She needs her corporation for Polly's sake.

Hannah quickly took her arm and led her away from the search party. They seemed far enough, and she spoke softly, "Listen, I know this seemed like this is the end of the world but get a grip now."

That seemed to snap Cherly out of it.

"Why? Jason never lies or hides secrets from me. Why would he?" Hannah nodded and cut her off, "Cheryl, not everything's about you. Jason thought it would hurt you. Remember you told me the story about that one birthday when you realized no one wanted to come to yours?"

Cheryl turned quiet and tears were slow to form.

"I understand it hurts, but remember Jason wanted to protect you, but he did it the wrong way." Hannah leans in and whispers, "I know that your parents wanted Jason's babies now. But I know you loved them because they came from Jason. And I know you would do anything to protect it like Jason did for you."

When they came close to her home. The sound of Cheryl breathing and felt like she wanted to not breathe.

"Sniffs, sobs." She whimpers. She looked at the home where Jason and Cheryl lived all their lives.

He is no longer there no more.

Cheryl did what anyone in her shoes would do.

Cheryl collapsed on the ground as she let out her sound of cries. Hannah quickly kneeled and held Cheryl close to her.

Cheryl wailed as she leaned her head on Hannah's shoulder. Tears flow so out of control. The pain was so unbearable.

Hannah hugged her and rocked her to calm down.

Hannah felt the pain.

She knows that pain.

It is so hard to accept the inevitable of this world. Hannah knew that Cheryl reached a point where she needed to be.

Cheryl had reached the final stage of grief.

Acceptance.

Knowing that Jason Blossom is her knight in shining armor.

Her protector is gone.

Only what's left of Jason's gift to Cheryl is his offspring.

Now it is her turn to protect his child.

Even if it is against her parents.

As Hannah left Cheryl to be comforted by Nana Rose. She quickly received a call from Betty as she managed to get Polly out of there, but she wanted her to meet at the former Drive-in theater. Hannah quickly ran and ran as fast as she could.

"Betty!" Hannah called out.

She panted and saw that Polly was hiding in the old shack that Betty found and cleaned for Polly as best as she could.

"Oh, thank god!" Hannah leaned slightly as she entered. She saw Kevin, Archie, Veronica, and Jughead.

It is big enough for a person to live but this might be hard for Polly to live.

Jughead went and hugged his girlfriend.

"You made it." He whispered.

"Yeah. How are you doing Polly?"

Polly nodded, "Fine. We're doing fine." She rubbed her pregnant belly. Hannah looked at the other three. "How did you guys get here?"

Veronica answered, "Betty called Kevin then Archie and I. Since I had to make it seem like I was going out with friends, so I took the mom's car."

Hannah looked around and see if there was a chance that someone was close by, but lucky for them no one was there.

They're safe for now.

She took out her backpack to hand Polly clean slippers and socks.

"I went to a thrift store to get these for you Polly."

Polly sighed, "Yes, thank you. I needed this."

Hannah sat down and said, "Betty, Polly we need to talk." And she looked at the rest of the gang. "We all need to talk."

Hannah explained that she told Cheryl about Polly's situation. Hannah then told Cheryl that if the Blossoms were involved in Polly's child's life that could cause Cooper's family to back off and let Polly get the baby.

Hannah told Betty this might be better since Blossom seemed to hate each other, but they ban together when it comes to loving Jason.

Hannah didn't believe that Betty's parents would accept this new situation and the question remains is this.

Will Polly go home with Betty to keep her babies?

"Betty, I know you don't like this idea, but Polly needs to be safe." Hannah tries to make Betty understand, but Betty refuses to see the bigger picture.

Betty couldn't believe it. "Why did you do that?" Betty is upset that Hannah would talk to Cheryl about this. She just got her sister back and now she wants to let her leave the family again.

Polly pleads to Betty. "Betty."

"Mom and Dad say Polly can come home and the baby is their grandchild." Betty is certain about this. Maybe her mom and dad changed their minds.

Jughead spoke, "But they send your sister away, and that usually spells that they don't want Polly to keep their grandkid."

He agrees. Knowing Alice and Hal, Polly would have been forced to abort her baby or giving away for adoption. Pretending that this never happened at all.

After all, they need to help Polly. And, Polly wants to be a mom to Jason's kids.

Veronica spoke, "Oh come on, what century are we in? Is this the era where children out of wedlock still frown upon?" She added with a scoff, "They can't just pretend this never happened. I know my mom and I tried. What so bad in remembering that you had a grandbaby."

Veronica knew that the situation would look bad if you ignored the problem forever.

Kevin spoke, "When it comes to the Cooper family it is bad. And yes for them they wanted it to pretend. Plus, no offense, Polly." He looked at her a bit sorry which Polly waved it off as an ok. "Her scandal was dating and getting pregnant with Jason Blossom their sworn enemy."

Betty shakes her head. "No, we can keep her safe here."

Veronica had to bring Betty down the earth kind of thing.

"Um no offense, but this shack lacks electricity, water, and clean hygiene. Polly needs a lot more help than this." She understands Betty doesn't want her sister gone, but Polly needs medical treatment, food, and a roof over her head. Plus, the baby is going to need a lot more than this shack.

Archie then spoke in favor of Betty. "Maybe Betty right." Hannah looked surprised and questioned, "But Archie, Betty is not the one who is pregnant. Polly is the one who is."

"I know, but we can hide her here until things cool down." Archie looked at Betty then everyone. "What we can do is take turns and try to cover Polly's location."

Hannah sighed loudly and looked up. She noticed the roof as a hole and questioned, "Anyone have a tarp to cover that hold?"

Might as well make this place a warmer home.

Archie and Kevin took the top to cover the hole as they duck taped to cover for holes. The Girls clean the shack a lot for Polly to sleep in until things cool down.

Jughead heads back to bring pillows, a bed, and warm blankets. He brought them back and made them presentable. Hannah fixed and cleaned the Hearth to place wood and start a fire.

She added surprisingly clean carpets for the flooring.

As the night is upon them. They called it the night; Hannah gave Polly an army phone which cannot be traced back.

Hannah and Jughead walked back together.

Fred believes she is walking still as Archie was hanging out with friends as he told his dad.

"So, Jughead." Hannah spoke, "What do you think?"

Jughead knew and answered, "Right now, we need to let Betty understand that her parents are…"

"Psychotic."

Jughead chuckled, "Jerks, but yeah."

Hannah commented, "Maybe Betty has a point. Archie has a point. I had a point. But we didn't hear what Polly decided what to do right now."

She realized that this was Polly's decision.

Jughead brings his girl closer to him. "Hey, no worries, we are all stressed out today. Hopefully, when things cool down as Archie said. Then we can hear what Polly decides."

Hannah leans in his body comfortably. He's right. Jughead leaned his head as they walked together.

Through kicking instinct, she senses someone is following them. Jughead did notice a tension in her shoulders then briefly in a quick moment saw a tall dark shadow figure that seemed to be stalking them.

Each step they walked as he followed them.

Hannah always carries a knife for her hunting just in case. She slips on her jacket pocket and a hidden gun on her leg bracelets.

"Keep walking," Jughead whispers to her.

She nodded.

'Oh god, could this be the killer who murdered Jason or an attempted kidnapping?' Jughead thought rationally. After all, the books, novels, and movies talked about killers being the main suspects in every scene, yet no one knew his identity until they twisted the ending. However, this is real life and Jughead is trying to think about what to do in this situation.

Then when they turned, they hid briefly.

Noticing that the stranger walked passed them. Jughead looked out a bit then Jughead sighed in relief.

The stranger entered the shop and removed his hat and coat then smiled waving to customers.

"Don't worry, that's just Mr. Jackson the ice cream man." He told his girlfriend.

Hannah sighed, but she was grabbed behind her which she altered Jughead with a small scream.

"Kya!"

She was thrown by the trash cans which hurt her back.

CRASH!

"ow."

Hannah looked up and saw the man aiming his scythe at her as she ducked and rolled out of the way.

"Hey!" Jughead throws the trash can at the attacker. He got him in his back as he was distracted Jughead quickly helped Hannah get up.

They almost got out of the back alley, but Hannah noticed behind them.

Hannah shouted, "Look out!"

She pushed him out of the way.

The man slams his Scythe between them as he hopes to get them both but misses.

PLUG! He pulled it out to strike her again. Hannah dodged left and right then twisted his wrist to throw him away from her.

But that night changes their lives forever.

The attacked turned and saw Jughead's eyes.

Jughead looked up and saw the man's face morphed into like a troll-like face. Jughead let out a sound, "Woah!"

He snarled at Jughead and said, "A Grimm!" He gripped his handle as he hated his kind of centuries.

Jughead is so surprised. He thought he imagined this, but noticed he was coming after him now.

He changed targets to kill Jughead. Hannah jumped onto the toll's back and stabbed him in the back which he gave an inhumane roar.

He tries to shake her off. Hannah is not letting someone die on her watch as she was busy trying to fight him off that was when Jughead snapped out of this.

He has to help Hannah. He grabbed something that he needed.

"Let go!"

Hannah listens then Jughead hits that attacker with a metal pipe super hard like he gains superhero strength.

The attack grunted and flew almost away from them.

He got up slowly, but he didn't see a speeding truck that hit him hard. The light blinded him and came at him so fast he didn't have the chance to get out of the way.

THUMP! BAM!

Hannah looked away as Jughead held her.

The trucker got out of his truck and freaked out.

"Oh God! I hit someone did I?"

Few people heard the commotion outside and checked it out. Jughead looked at the attack and saw his face turned to normal. He blinked so much; he wasn't sure what he was dreaming about.

Though people like Mr. Jackson the ice cream man noticed Jughead and Hannah's appearance like they survived getting mugged or murdered. They looked messy and bruised did show on their face.

"Someone called the Sheriff!" Mr. Jackson ran forward to help Jughead and Hannah inside until the ambulance and cops came.

Hannah looked at Jughead like he couldn't wrap around his head. Jughead acts like he is having an asthma attack.

Hannah held him and rocked him to calm him down.

Jughead whispers, "What am I? Why was he attacking us?"

His girlfriend held him tighter as he wrapped his arm around her as well.

She thought for sure that Jughead would not find out this way, but she showed him what she could do against monsters like these. But who would have thought she found out what Jughead is?

"A Grimm!"

Hannah whispered, "Jughead I need to tell you something."

Jughead heard and closed his eyes.

"I have never thought about what had happened that night when we decided to hide Polly Cooper from the police, the Blossoms, and the Coopers.

I have seen something that was considered nothing but a dream or a nightmare.

However, one thing Hannah was right about.

Riverdale will never be the same again."
