Chapter 2: Little Stars

Paimon and Neuvillette didn't know what to do.

Afte their brief surprise, and luck that none of the toddlers awoke admits their yelling, the two settled in whispered words as they observe the new entities with them.

Who were lying on top of the traveler, cutely snuggling with small movements of their heads, nuzzling Aether as they continue to sleep in relative peace.

In contrast to the rapid beating of Paimon's heart, and the numerous questions rising within Neuvillette's head.

"They're children… actual children…" Paimon whispered, still at awe and shock from witnessing the golden orbs transform into 10 adorable looking toddlers.

"Yes, children… that share the traveler's unique energy…" Neuvillette muses quietly, but still loud enough for Paimon to hear.

"Wait does that mean?—"

"There might be some truth to your Birthing theory—"

"B-But Paimon just said that because that was the first thing that popped into her head!" The pixie nearly shrieked, but reined her voice to avoid waking the children, while casting a wary glance at them.

"I mean c'mon! The traveler's a dude!" Paimon adds. "Now that Paimon thinks about it, there would be no way Aether could have given birth to one child, much less ten toddlers!"

"It's not absurd as it sounds Paimon. Some lifeforms in Teyvat, like male seahorses, are the ones who get pregnant and carry multiple offsprings in their pouches." Neuvillette shared. "I've also once read in another book, where it was the male fairy who carries the child too."

"Wait really!? Seahorses and male fairies getting pregnant? Okay, Paimon thinks one of those must be false…"

The female fairy responds with doubt, while Neuvillette replies with shrug and a wave of his hands.

"We can't rule out the possibility Paimon…" Before resuming with more serious tone "But…the traveler is an outlander, an alien entity with a unique biology similar but also different to the lifeforms of our planet. His physiology may have unique bodily functions or processes that may greatly differ from the normal Teyvatian. Or even other native life in our world."

"That is true…" Paimon found the Iudex's words to be right about the traveler, especially to his alien origins. "Paimon sometimes forgets that the traveler is a being outside of Teyvat. And Paimon can't say for sure of the travelers body and biology, I mean he really is similar to normal Teyvat humans, and some of our friends would say the same. But then again, it's not like Paimon and the others are experts with what the Traveler is. Heck, Aether doesn't help at times and only gives vague answers of being a living star or something…"

"Actually…do you think this is how stars or mini travelers are born?" Paimon asked with uncertainty, while Neuvillette shared the same sentiments.

"Again, your hypothesis would be as good as mine. Since we aren't experts regarding entities like the traveler, with Aether no doubt the only expert we could rely on, as it is he who knows his biology and himself best…Though, we can rule out the notion of him giving birth to these children, since it's clear they came outside of his body and again, entered by apparently flying right through my window."

Both Neuvillette and Paimon paused in their conversation to glance at the Iudex's broken windows with 10 holes that are flooding more light into the room.

It was going to be a costly repair no doubt for the Iudex, much less explain how or what caused the damages.

"Yet, we cannot deny that just because they didn't come out of the Traveler, doesn't mean they're not of the Traveler." The Iudex stresses, with a meaningful look to Paimon. "And while it's too early to for conclusions, even now while they sleep, the traveler's unique power, essence, and even his own elemental energy signature are leaking out of these children. Leading me to a possible fact that…"

"…they could really be Aether's children." Paimon finishes Neuvillette's sentence, as they both look back at Aether and his suppose kids.

While more questions begins to arise within the two.

Like why did they appear?

Where did they come from?

Why were they golden orbs?

Why did they break Neuvillette's window?

Are they newborns? And if they are, why are they not infants but toddlers?

Who is their mom?

And then Paimon and Neuvillette saw one of the kids shift, limbs moving far more actively, and hands moving to wipe their face.

Realizing one of the children, was waking up.

The hydro sovereign and floating lavender melon held their breath, daring not take their eyes at the sight of the waking child.

Taking in the little ones features, the child being a girl with dark hair and single long cowlick with a shade of indigo at its edges and tip. Wearing a dark bluish purple baby dress, and small shoes and socks that would not look out of place for a chibi human of their size.

The little girl gave a cute yawn to sound her waking, bringing her tiny, curled fist to her face to finish rubbing the drowsiness. Her eyes were still squinted, as her head shifted side to side to look at her surroundings in front of her, until they locked on to the traveler.

"Papa!" The child cried, with golden pupils similar to Aether's revealed, as her eyes widen with joy and elation.

While Paimon and Neuvillette attempt to reign in their shock, as their theory slowly unravels to truth from the revelation before them.

"Hehe…haha!" The girl's happiness continues to rise, as she eagerly shifts to hug the traveler's head, while continue to gurgle and babble joyful sounds.

"Aiiiieee! Papa! Papa! Fwon…taen… sibwings found Papa first!" The child cried, while nuzzling her papa, as if to coax him to wake up. "Sibwings…Sibweens… Sib..blings… wake up! Wake up!"

The little girl shifts her attention briefly to the other children around her and calls out to them to rise from their naps too.

And much to Paimon and Neuvillette's growing fascination, the indigo haired girl's cries worked, and the other toddlers begin to stir as well.

The two now trying to register the different appearances and unique features of the kids, as some began to sit up and rub their eyes. While others yawn and absently moved closer, half-asleep, to their sister calling to them.

The rest of the children were apparently seven girls and two boys, based on their clothing. As the majority of the baby girls were wearing a similar designed baby dress as the first child who woke up. Although, each tiny individual was wearing a different color from the other, as Paimon spotted, teal, emerald, light blue, a mix of red and violet, and finally the shade of bright mustard. While two girls were in different attires, as one was wearing a tiny kimono that was mix of a dark brown and bright amber colors. And the last girl was a bit smaller than her siblings and wearing an equally size and proportionate two-piece body suit… or something similar in appearance, that also reached their tiny legs, and its color being a mix of gray…and blood red.

The boys on the other hand, were more distinct. As one was apparently the twin of the last girl and wearing a similarly design baby body suit like his sister, but his colors being a mix of white and burnt gold. While the other boy, was wearing a tiny red hoodie mix with a golden camera design sewed at the front, and also wearing black shorts that reach passed his knees.

Neuvillette sharply took some of the children's other features, those notable and deemed important information that may be useful for later. Spotting one girl possessing a familiar looking pair of cat ears and tail, another child with an exotic designed hair pin on their head, and then a child oddly wearing lens less glasses. The latter which wasn't the strangest, as one child was even wearing an eyepatch for some reason—that the Iudex hopes isn't serious a medical condition or something else worrying.

Overall, the children looked very familiar in appearance to people who are close to both Paimon and Neuvillette. As the two also suspect, and slowly draw to conclusion, the reason why this is the case.

As those people they are reminded of, were pretty close to the Traveler as well.

But one thing stood out the most with the children that Paimon, and even Neuvillette, couldn't hold back from uttering with a whisper.

"They're really, really, really, cute…"

"Adorable indeed…"

!

Suddenly, all ten toddlers became alert, bodies straightening up in near sync, which unnerved both Paimon and Neuvillette. As their tiny heads immediately perked up before the babies slowly turned their attention to them.

The two companions realize the children heard them, before Paimon and Neuvillette were then assaulted…

By the most heart stopping sight, of ten adorable pairs of golden eyes staring at them.

Like miniature stars piercing them with high dose of innocence, cuteness, and sparkling youth.

That could make even the toughest and coldest beings, melt at how utterly warm the toddlers looked at them with such beautiful eyes.

Paimon couldn't take her own eyes of them either. Even found Aether's highly likely offsprings, to be utterly beautiful and felt an irresistible urge to coo and give them warm hugs.

Neuvillette was at lost, as his mind felt like it was witnessing a sacred site, like he were in the Dragon king Nibelung's most priceless horde of treasure, And he chanced upon and dared to gaze in all its grandeur and luster.

But the Hydro Sovereign would argue that the traveler's children were even more lustrous than any gold or jewel a Vishap would hope to find in their life.

Especially, when the toddlers first looked at Paimon and Neuvillette with confusion and curiosity. Before suddenly shifting to recognition and shortly to the same joy and elation they gave the Traveler.

"PAIMON!"

"UNCLE NEVI!"

Two kids shout, which Paimon and Neuvillette couldn't identify, as upon crying out to them all the kids…leaped, towards the two.

Displaying physicality and athleticism that shouldn't be possible with their current size and tiny bodies.

"WOAH THERE!" Paimon cried out before being tackled out of the air by five kids.

Neuvillette faired better as he was able to stand his ground. His arms involuntary catching the other half of the ten kids, but still felt the force of impact buckle him as the toddlers crashed into his chest.

"Ugh… little ones be carefu—" His words were caught in his throat, as he looked down and found five pairs of golden eyes peering up at him… adorably.

The hydro sovereign, one of the primordial elemental beings of Teyvat, and the literal king of the hydro Vishaps, was at lost from holding the traveler's kids. He felt warmth and joy just at the children's close proximity to his person, which grew as they all attempted to nuzzle their pudgy cheeks on his chest.

His heart stirred at the action and felt a deep instinct to protect and care for the tiny beings. To rend and drown all those who would bring harm to these…these… hatchlings.

"Uncle Nevi…"

"Aiii…."

"Un..cle…"

They cooed as they continue to be affectionate. Rubbing their heads and hands grasping at the fabric of his suit.

And Neuvillette thought that if he was suddenly struck down, he would have died happy and ready to greet the late Dragon king Nibelung at the realm of the afterlife.

"Neuvillette focus! Paimon needs your help!"

Paimon's call snapped the Iudex from his trance and remembering where he was.

"I'm sorry Paimon… I.. I-I… didn't know what happened."

"It's okay… Paimon was at lost too."

When Neuvillette turned to face Paimon, he found the fairy enveloped in a group hug by three children, who resembled respectively, a certain Fashion Designer, a famous perfumiest, and finally a popular magician assistant.

While Paimon's hands were surprisingly free, but currently petting and stroking the heads of the twin toddlers, who were giggling at the affection being given to them.

"Paimon doesn't know if she can stop… They're really cute and warm!"

Indeed they are, as Neuvillette thought and quietly agreed.

Looking down at his own group of children hugging and cuddling him with affection, he quickly noticed their resemblance to his friends and co-workers from the court of Fontaine. The one closes to him and near the center of his chest resembled Lady Furina greatly and seemed to be the most happy to see him. At the child's right and left side, were toddlers who looked like small versions of Navia and Clorinde. And behind the two were kids who easily reminded the Iudex of a certain News reporter/photographer and a Captain of the Maison Gardiennage's Special Security and Surveillance Patrol.

Their appearances obviously dictates of who their possible parents are, but more thoughts begin to flood the Iudex's mind despite the answers.

If anything it led to more questions, but at least knowing the children recognized them and with a level of familiarity and closeness, would make moving forward less harder if the children were wary of him and Paimon.

"Ahem…" Neuvillette decide to get all of their attention, Paimon included, as he set the children down from his arms. "Apologies, if this is a bit abrupt—despite how everything being sudden, and numerous things happening in quick session—but I think now is the time for us to ask some questions and hopefully receive some answers for everything that just occurred."

"Yeah, Paimon thinks Neuvillette's right." Paimon said. Nodding her head and, reluctantly, let's go of her own children cuddle pile, before floating to join Neuvillette's side.

"Paimon seriously needs some answers to what's happening now and what happened to the traveler. And I hope you little cuties wouldn't mind if we asked you a few questions?"

Paimon then looks at the toddlers skeptically, as she remembers that they were… well, toddlers.

"I mean if you guys can answer.. some questions…I mean can they answer questions?"

They were literally going to ask the random and spontaneously appearing children, if they know what's going on. Especially worrying, since both Paimon and Neuvillette are unaware of their level of intellect and understanding.

Fortunately, their concern would be quickly abated as the little girl who resemblance Clorinde, raises her hands enthusiastically.

"Oh! I can! I can! Papa and Mama… told instructions to tell!" Her cute voice reverberates in the entire room.

The other kids echoed their sibling, also agreeing with their own adorable voices.

"Yes! Many things to tell!"

"Mama said to remember and when to say. And when seeing dada!"

"Or other uncles and mommies!"

"Or big sis..tirs..and big..bradas…and Oni-chan!"

The room was quickly being filled with the sounds of excited toddlers, that would make it difficult for Paimon and Neuvillette to hear.

"Okay! Okay! Settle down you little munchkins heehee…" Paimon waved her arms to settle the kids down. "That's good to know, but I think it's better if only one of you answers our questions. But the other babies can cut in, if there's extra information… or errr in baby terms…other things we should know about."

The toddlers looked at each other, their eyes having a silent conversion before having a unanimous decision.

"Okay! I'll talk!" The mini Clorinde spoke, with her siblings again agreeing with her.

"Yeah! Oldest talk!"

"Yas! Yas! Older..rer… sibwing!"

From their response, while interesting, Neuvillette and Paimon decided to put the revelation of the chibi Clorinde baby being the oldest of the bunch, at the back of their mind for the time being.

They were going to learn more things from the kids anyway, but they had more pressing questions to prioritize.

"Okay let's begin…" Paimon suddenly pulled out a pen and notepad to take notes, while Neuvillette clears his throat.

Before he asks the foremost question he and Paimon had. Despite knowing what that answer would be but needed the confirmation.

"May I ask, who you and your siblings…are?"

The Mini Clorinde beamed at them with a dazzling smile, as the rest of the children followed suit.

"We are… Papa's babies! Babies from his future!"

Or in Paimon and Neuvillette's words.

"Oh, Celestia… You kids really are Aether's children!?"

"Nibelung's mantle… And you claim to be, his kids—from the future!?"

The toddler's eyes briefly shined with a knowing gleam, before cutely nodding her head with the rest of her siblings.

"YAS!"

While Aether continues to lie unconscious, unaware of what's happening.

The QA Paimon and Neuvillette conducted went smoothly than they expected. They were even able to move their conversation back to the couches and tables with their refreshments.

Aether was placed on one couch, lying peacefully while some of his kids decided to continue to cuddle and lean on his body while they talked with Paimon and Neuvillette. The others took advantage of the snacks and drinks provided and were eating heartily and enjoying themselves, while the two companions took note of how much food the children were eating.

Paimon, as expected, panicked and realized they were eating as much as her and Aether, while Neuvillette decided to make a mental note to request a refill of their refreshments for later.

Overall, their questioning bore fruit and help the two understand a bit more of their current situation.

It also helped that Aether's children were much smarter than they appeared. Though still young and child like to their responses, it didn't deterred the two companions from learning much from the star munchkins.

Heck, the two even quickly got over their shock of learning the children's claim of being future offsprings. And didn't find it too ridiculous.

"You know after experiencing everything Paimon and the Traveler witnessed in Teyvat, this doesn't sound too farfetched. Heck, Paimon could say we've already witness some time-space wombo jumbo in Inazuma with Ei!"

"Indeed, tales and legends of Time travel and manipulation do exist. Especially when it involves one of the shades of the Usurper, Istaroth. Also the previous Novel I mentioned before, had one story arc which involved a time traveling warrior, who was the son of one of the protagonist's rivals and traveled to the past to help stop a horrible future…"

"OH NO! ARE YOU KIDS HERE TO STOP A HORRIBLE FUTURE?! PAIMON'S NOT READY TO FIGHT FUTURE BUGDROIDS OR X-TERMINATORS!

"HAHAHA….Silly Paimon!"

"There's no bad future…HAHAHA!"

"Yeah! Papa already beaten the bad robos!"

It was a slow process, but Paimon and Neuvillette began to piece together of what's going on step by step, as they started with basics questions related to each other.

Like how the kids traveled in the past.

"Ear…min…sole, and the mommies!"

"You mean to tell Paimon, the Irminsul tree sent you babies back? With the help of your mommies?"

"Yas! All the mommies—oh! And, and Big sis Na-hi-da!"

"It seems if you and the traveler have a chance Paimon, you would need to discuss this with the Dendro Archon as well."

"Yeah… she might be the best person to help with this too.."

Why were they balls of light.

"Daddy flies like a star or a comet so babies fly like stars and comets too!"

"Huh, that checks. The traveler did tell Paimon how they arrived with their sibling as meteorites…"

"I'm sorry…. What?"

"Hehehe… Uncle Nevi didn't know!"

Why they flew to Aether?

"Daddy said to fly to daddy! Or mommies!"

"I am concerned if they instead crashed into their mothers instead of the traveler…"

"UGH YEAH! Paimon could already imagined all the collateral damaged that could have occurred in the city. Much less the medical bills if they got hurt…."

But as the rounds of questions continued, there were some the toddlers couldn't answer clearly or understood by Paimon and Neuvillette due to the kids limited vocabulary and a partial lack of understanding.

Like one question being, what's currently happening to the traveler?

"Daddy is getting instructions!"

"Instructions?"

"Yeah, yeah, like how to care of babies and other stuff Earmeensole is saying to him."

"Hey hey, listen to Paimon, it's called Ir-min-sul…Ir-min..sul…."

"Yah, Yah, Irmeensuuul! And daddy is getting memories and um… more other stuff I don't know about. Sorry…"

"It's alright little one. You words are enough to explain why the traveler is asleep. Even as the Iudex of Fontaine, I would need to rest and process information I read from the countless reports I received on the day-to-day basis. I can't imagine what the Aether is going through, but it must be a lot of information for even him to a fall asleep deeply."

"Hey, Paimon is also curious, is the traveler also powering up too?"

"Yup! Daddy is getting stronger, and he'll have energy to play with all babies!"

"So much for thinking he's going to fight some super-duper-dee strong enemy… then again, Paimon does think fatherhood is its own battle."

And another question, being could they able to go back to their time?

"Yes, we can! But not now and daddy said much later…"

"How later if Paimon would like to know?"

"I don't know… daddy and mommies didn't say… But! They said when we get back, time would be the same!"

"I'm-I'm…sorry, Paimon can't follow…. What do you mean, when you guys get back time will be the same?"

"Miss Paimon, I think what the little one is saying, is that when they get back to their own timeline, not much time would have past. Or in other words, they'll be going back from the point of time they've left.

"AH! Yes! Yes! Uncle Nevi smart! One of the mommies said the same thing! The same thing! Paimon should drink more brain juice…hahaha!"

"HUH?! Hey! You little…"

Of course, as they neared the end of their conversation, there were some questions they refused to answer until some requirements were met. And some questions they didn't know the answers of either.

Like why were they here?

"Mission! Mommies gave babies a mission!"

"May we ask what this mission is?"

"Uh,uh…Not until mommies are with babies!"

"Aw… Are you sure you can't tell Paimon and uncle Neuvillette about it?"

"Nooo! Mommies have to be with Babies! Babies first mission is to look and meet with mommies!"

"I suppose it would be best to have everyone together and have the children explain their purpose here in one go than constantly repeat it."

"True, Paimon agrees. It might be tiring for the babies to keep repeating everything anyway."

"Hmph! Babies right!"

Lastly, there were even questions with answers Paimon and Neuvillette couldn't hear, literally.

"What is your name?"

"Oh name! My name is ******* !"

"I'm sorry what?! Paimon just heard some gibberish…"

"Oh! I forgot… Daddy and Mommy said, Ir-mean-sal, will hide babies names…To not ruin the surprise in the future!"

"I'm sorry, did you say to Paimon that Irminsul is blocking your real names?!"

"Incredible… the power of Irminsul, has placed a powerful glamour spell on the children…"

"But then what would Paimon call these cuties?! I mean, Paimon could give them nicknames… but I feel the traveler and the mommies should still give them."

"I think that's best for now."

"Yeah… and Paimon gives babies weird nicknames all the time…"

"HEY! Paimon can give good nicknames!"

As the conversation came to a close, Neuvillette decided to make a brief summary of everything they've learned.

"To reiterate all the information we've gathered and from the living evidence we've witnessed." The Iudex briefly glances to Paimon, the sleeping traveler, and all the toddlers in the room. "It is safe to summarize all what we've learned, explaining recent events and to help chart for our next course together."

Paimon and the toddlers all nodded in agreement, as Neuvillette continues.

"First of. On this day, the Traveler was experiencing headaches since the morning he woke up, that continued to grow intensely throughout day. These headaches, as mentioned, turned out to be messages he was receiving from Irminsul originating from the future. Which upon reaching a certain unknown threshold of knowledge gained, manifested as the traveler releasing a flash of blinding light and a surge of power that shook possibly the entirety of Teyvat. This power being the traveler's original sealed celestial might, which we have no exact reason or explanation on how his original powers were unsealed. Besides mere speculation and theory, that some future knowledge the traveler may have received from Irminsul allowed to him bypass the seal placed by the Sustainer of the Heavenly Principles."

Neuvillette then made a gesture to all of the traveler's children present.

"Nevertheless, these event were merely precursors and preparations for Aether, to be ready for intended arrival of his future children. His children that we now know of, were brought back in time to their past with the help of Irminsul and their future mothers and arrived as flying golden comets. With their destination being Aether or their mothers, while the travelers powers flaring acted as some sort of beacon to guide the children in their flight or an anchor they latched on to reach the past."

Neuvillette then walked across room before stopping to stare at his broken window. If not for dramatic flair, as he resumes with his melodic voice.

"At the present, the traveler remains in a stasis like state, no doubt receiving more information from the Irminsul of the future and whatever other instructions he needs. While the children's presences here in our current time, is due to an unknown mission that will be revealed once we reunite them with the past versions of their mothers."

The lead child, being the mini Clorinde, gave a short and determined nod in response, on behalf of her siblings. "Mmph… find Mommies first!"

Neuvillette then turns his attention back to his audience. With all ten toddlers and Paimon eyes glued at him. "With that said, it's obvious what are next course of action is. And it's to contact and reach out to the mothers of Aether's children, to introduce them to their future offsprings."

"Which is easier said than done!" Paimon interjects. "How are the two of us and a bunch of kiddos going to contact all the women that Aether had captured their hearts. And explain this…this…hot mess?!"

Neuvillette pondered, while agreeing with Paimon. "Indeed, for this situation, it'd be impossible to avoid some sort of awkward atmosphere. Much less if they can believe us."

"Yeah, quite an understatement you got there Neuvillette…" Paimon replied, bringing a hand to her chin thinking. "We're going to need some help here, and especially with the traveler out of commission for this… oh, Paimon really wished Aether would wake up right now. If not just to help and make sense of all this, he at least deserves to see his little angels."

"You mean his little stars miss Paimon?" Neuvillette adds, while the two turned their attention back to their dear friend.

Who's sleeping-self, had all the toddler's attention once more. As they cuddled or stared at their Papa and giggled as they continue to watch his sleeping face.

Some of the children got on top of Aether and began napping with him as well, while the others somehow got one of his hands free and decided to take turns in giving themselves head pats, as they placed the traveler's hand on top of their head and emulated the rubbing emotion as he were awake.

It was a sweet and oddly funny sight, seeing how much love and affection the babies were showing, even if their father was currently unconscious.

Still, Neuvillette and Paimon shared a look with each other, before nodding with determination.

What they were going to do next was going to be hard and with a lot of awkward conversations to follow, but if it were for the traveler and the warm familial sight they just witnessed, then they'll anything to make right and fulfill babies first mission.

Even if it's just going to be the two of them.

KNOCK KNOCK

Fortunately, as if fate was throwing them a bone, both Paimon and Neuvillette were going to receive some much-needed help—

"Monsieur Neuvillette! Aether! Paimon! Are you there! Are you okay!"

And their first trial. As Clorinde's voice was heard beyond the doors of the Iudex's office, sounding both worried and frantic. No doubt due to recent events.

And it wasn't just Paimon and Neuvillette who heard her voice. As one could guess, her future child caught her voice too, loud and clear.

"MOMMY! MOMMY!"

Before Neuvillette and Paimon could react fast enough, the child was already rushing to the door. Which then suddenly began to open, as the Champion Duelist began to appear in the gaps.

"WAIT LITTLE ONE!"

"CHIBI CLORINDE NOO!"

The Champion Duelist rushed in upon hearing Neuvillette and Paimon's cries of distress.

"What's wrong—"

Only to be met with a leaping toddler… Crashing into her massive breasts.

"Kyaa~!"

"Mama's boobies!"

Author's notes:

And that's the second chapter, so sorry for another cliffhanger-ish ending! But I hope you guys enjoyed some revelations and the initial introductions of the children.

I know you guys might have some questions. And I can't say I can answer some of them, as more will be revealed in the next chapter, while Paimon, Neuvillette, and now Clorinde will have to deal with Aether's cluster of baby stars.

(*Get it? I called Aether's children a cluster. This is the Headcanon name in calling a group of Aether's children in this fic. Better than calling them Aether's brood, as it sounds too alienish.")

Until then, likes, favorites, kudos and Comments (No flaming and keep it civil), are appreciated.

And hope to see you in the next chapter! Take care!
