Just in case some of you didn't know, this story is going to be coming to an end soon. It won't just end but I'm going to bring this story to a close that would allow me to carry on later if I want to or someone else can carry on from this spot and the like.
Ok all, let us continue.
"Peace is a lie, there is only passion" he spoke aloud as he sat in the cockpit, his legs were crossed along with his arms, his hands clasping each arm tightly. Despite having done this many times he often found it as a means of centring himself and calming his mind while honing his power.
'What you did, the lightning, that can only be used by the way of the dark side' a voice echoed in the back of his head, it was one of many different voices that had begun to plague him for the last couple of days.
"Through passion, I gain strength" he said through his frowning face as he tried to understand these voices and why they sounded so familiar.
'The Dark Side, it will pull at you, call to you' It was a woman speaking this time, he knew who this was this time. It was Tano, he remembered her voice they spoke briefly before the ambush. What was she doing in his head?
"Through strength, I gain power" he reached out with the Force and felt it flow to his commands, he could sense all around him the Force pushing and pulling.
'From what I have seen you have yet to fail us, in light of this I'm giving you operational authority' The amount of familiarity that was being spoken brought about so much more confusion and with that. Anger.
"Through power, I gain victory" he said as he started to stop noticing the level of power he brought over the force, he started to not notice nor care about the sounds happening around him.
'I'm not your mother, I'm your aunt. You're father, your real father. Is Obi-Wan Kenobi' all the objects that had begun to float through the air frozen in place as he heard that, Obi-Wan had a son? Was this the truth or was it the Force messing with him, it didn't matter. He would continue his meditations and regain his focus.
"Through victory, my chains are broken" he tried to focus on his words, on what it meant to be Sith on how to take command of the Force and use it to subjugate all others. To take control of all things.
'SABINE! GET OUT OF HERE!' the panels of metal bolted into the floors and walls, started to rip themselves free and float in the air. That was his voice, he'd never said those words before in his life so what was this? The idea that such a thing was happening to him was bringing out an anger that he didn't know he was feeling.
"The Force shall free me" he added through gritted his teeth but despite his attempts to speak the creed to find some measure of peace, it instead brought only more questions.
Ever since his fight against the Jedi and rebels, his mind hasn't known peace, every night he gets visions of people and locations he didn't recognise. How could this be? He understands this started when he woke up after encountering that witch. She must have been responsible for this; he just didn't know how and it was angering him greatly. The sound of a beeping caught his attention and for the first time in over an hour, he opened his eyes.
There was an assortment of items that dropped to the ground with a rattle and clank, for a moment he felt a force being pushed on himself as well as if he was hovering ever so slightly off the ground. The only light source came from the red buttons on the walls and the blue that came from the front window as he flew through hyperspace.
He lifted up his hand and blindly waved it forward, with a little power from the force. The lever which was the primary control for the Hyperdrive, pulled back and the Eclipse left Hyperspace. There was a familiar tug that allowed in a physical sense as the ship drastically slowed down, taking a final deep breath, he stood.
Starkiller turned and looked out the window, letting out a sigh of disappointment as he did so. While a nice empty world would have been appreciated no, that would have been too easy, wouldn't it? No, it was instead surrounded by a massive Imperial fleet. At first glance alone he could see at least a dozen different destroyers all floating around in high orbit, all moving towards something but as he moved closer towards the pilot's chair, there was a sight that made him freeze in place.
Then moving as fast as he was able, he all but lunged for the controls and he felt the metal panel dent as his hand smashed into it and the ship activated its stealth systems. His breathing was laboured as if he just had a good workout, using his training to calm himself, he looked again out the front window and saw it again. All the Star Destroyers were either moving to or around a Super Star Destroyer, there were only four of those in the entire empire and he was no fool.
All he had to do was look at it in order for him to know it was the Executor, there were small and subtle differences between the massive ships and being his Hand. He was all too aware of what they were, this would make things difficult and now he was left with a choice. Does he come out and proclaim himself to his master or does he try and stay hidden while working? Both had so many problems that it would make this all but impossible. If he revealed himself then his master would want to know why he was here and there are very few excuses he could give that would placate him, he could tell the truth and inform him that he was looking for clues regarding Revan. If Vader didn't like that then there would be nothing he could do, he would need to leave for afight.
He couldn't leave, he needed to find out what all this was about.
He could fight.
He looked down and sighed. Yes, that was true. He could fight his master but he couldn't win, not yet. He was close, he could give his master a fight that none others could but he couldn't win, at least not yet. His mind was too adrift with thoughts that were not his own and he knew that in order to beat his master, his mind needed to be completely focused on this one task which was an impossibility at this point.
The other option was to simply try and do this quietly, something that could result in him getting exactly what he wants without any trouble but the risk is higher. If he gets caught it won't be a question of how he could get out of it, it would be a simple truth, he either kills every single person there and wipes all records of his presence. His eyes looked out the window to see the entire fleet of Destroyers with at least a million personnel. That was clearly impossible. The other option would be to go on a rampage, moving as fast as possible, getting the information he needs and escaping before anyone could stop him or Force forbid summoning his master to stop him.
He leaned back and let out a sigh, all the while the planet was getting closer and closer. This was a difficult choice to make but he knew there was one where he would have a chance to get what he was here for. Firming his resolve he grabbed his controls and moved forward planet side, leaving his cloaking on and keeping his ship hidden.
Knowing that this wouldn't keep him hidden from his master, he closed his eyes briefly and silenced his presence in the Force. A difficult task but something he knows he has to do. In truth he didn't know if his Master was really on his ship, he could reach out and see if he could sense him but that was something he couldn't risk. Sensing in the Force often worked both ways, if he sent out an echo in the Force trying to find his master then the chances are that Vader would sense that without even trying and know immediately that it was him who did it.
While he was no master in masking his presence like Jade seems to be, it should be enough to keep him hidden for now. Vader would be able to find him if he really wanted to but thankfully his master would have no reason to look for him.
Steering his ship away from the Destroyers and giving him a lot more room than he normally would, he started to make his way towards the planet. Looking at it, he normally wouldn't have any idea where to go, a planet is a large thing after all. Still, when one looked at the fleet's formation, it was easy to see that there was one area of the surface they were protecting. So that is where he would be going.
The ramp of the Eclipse lowered, and the Hand of Vader stepped off it and onto the planet's surface. His was hidden within the shadow of a nearby mountain range, far enough away that it shouldn't be stumbled upon by any patrols but not so far away it would be days of hiking to get to and from it.
It was only a few minutes of walking in order to reach the edge of the mountains and he had a much closer look at what he was after. There was a massive valley in front of him, it must have been hundreds if not over a thousand miles long. At least it would have been if it wasn't for the hole.
He didn't know what was in it but there was a huge hole in the valley floor but he couldn't see what was in it from this far out. He knew it was deep though, he knew that based on what was above it. A Star Destroyer was holding position directly over it and he could see dozens of smaller transport ships going out and in some going to the Destroyer and others landing in the small bases around the hole. Which was another thing of note, around the hole was an entire circle of buildings and bases around it, not the largest he had seen but there were many of them.
He took a moment to think about how to get close to it, a base that large on flat ground would be much harder to get to since there is no cover to it. he couldn't simply walk over, he needed to get in there somehow without being noticed, he knows that there are methods that one could use force to keep oneself hidden but he didn't know what they were, he wasn't an assassin like Jade was. He didn't doubt she could get in there easily enough, much to his own annoyance at admitting he was better at this.
That was when his eyes caught sight of a handful of speeders that were leaving the base, it was a small patrol of one transporter and four speers. They were in a standard formation as they went and he knew from his own knowledge that chances are they would be coming back the same way they came in. That was something he could use, taking a knee where he was he removed his robe and armour, knowing that it would only get in the way.
Taking his time to note the route that the patrol took to get out and how far he would need to go. Before he did however he reached for his belt and activated his Lightsabre, holding it down to the ground the blade cut into the hard mud and dirt. The smell of scorching ground filled his senses as he created a small hole of sludge out of the hard ground. Not taking more than a couple of seconds, to do so he switched off his weapon and placed it back. He dug his hands into it, something much easier now as it was so hot and sticky. It did sting slightly but he could deal with it, he reached up and rubbed it on his body. Over his head, chest, arms, all of himself. It was hot and it did hurt but he could handle it for now.
Once it was all on, he started to crawl forward away from the rock cover and slowly make his way towards the open valley. He didn't like doing this but it was midday, andthe sun was shining down brightly on the land, if he walked out or even crawled out as he was before then he would have been spotted immediately by Force only knows how many different people who were standing guard. But now he had some camouflage that would keep him hidden from watchful eyes.
He moved on his stomach, keeping himself as low as possible and he took his sweet time moving, the Patrol had only just now left the base so he had time to get into position. The heat made this a lot harder than it normally would have been but he could handle it, having spent so much time on Mustafar has given him a good level of resistance against it.
It took him twenty minutes to move into position, he was sure this was the right spot based on the pattern in the sand that would come from the engines of the speeders that flew across it. Slowly turning himself onto his back he lay in the sand and waited for the patrol to come back, as he did so he very subtly used the Force topush some more sand over himself, giving him some extra protection from prying eyes.
Then he simply waited, he didn't know how long for exactly but that wasn't hard to believe, it was easy to loose oneself in a meditation. Thankfully he knew that while meditating, Vader wouldn't notice. A meditation wasn't about reaching out so much as it was looking in. It was the sound of an engine that awakened him from it, he didn't react, didn't blink, he just waited.
There was a flash of shadow as the speeder flew over him and just as quickly he reached up to grab a piece of his undercarriage. Hanging on tightly as he was brought into the base by those who were supposed to protect it.
We shall call it here, I little short I know but I've had a cold, first one a winter no doubt. No update next week, I've got a holiday coming up so I'll see you soon, let me know what you think and I'll see you in the next chapter.
