I've been thinking about doing a Halo and Transformers crossover for a while, so I finally did it.
All the Transformers Characters are bayverse; the events of the first two movies happened, but the 3rd, 4th and 5th movies did not happen in this wild AU, even though some of the characters from the 3rd, 4th and 5th movies are in here.
Nyx and Orion are Spartan-II OCs I made, and so is their AI, Eureka.
I do not own Transformers, or the Halo videogames. I'm just using them before I put them back (I can't guarantee they'll be in top-notch condition, though.)
Chapter One: Valor and Valkyrie
The hum of the Spirit of Fire's engines sent slight vibrations through Orion's feet. The Spartan fell in behind his twin sister, Nyx. They'd been called by Captain Cutter to bridge, or so Serina claimed. It seemed like the AI enjoyed teasing the two Spartans.
"What's this about?" He asked.
"I'm sure we'll find out soon," Nyx shrugged, her helmet in her hands, revealing her blonde pixie cut. The sides where short, but the top still had plenty of hair.
"Don't you think it's Serina poking fun again?"
"She did say to hurry, so it can't be that she's bored again."
Meanwhile, on the Spirit of Fire's bridge, Ratchet stood beside Optimus, Ironhide and Bumblebee. Optimus had wanted to discuss working alongside the Spartans. Although NEST was supposed to be for defending again Decepticons only, Megatron had joined the Covenant forces in their quest to wipe out humanity. The Covenant included the Autobots in the genocide they wanted to commit, since Megatron was working with them. Ratchet frowned at the brief reminder.
Serina spoke up. "Cutter, the twins are coming now. They believe I'm messing with them again." She laughed. "It is very funny to watch them scramble to come-"
"Serina, if they shrug this off again because you're messing with them, I'm not going to be happy."
"Twins?" Sam asked, the human prime was just as confused as Ratchet was. While he didn't agree with the ethics of the Spartan Program, he'd seen enough of the few files the autobots had been given clearance for to know that only the strongest, fastest, and toughest were put into the program.
"Extraordinarily rare for Spartans." Serina spoke up. "They're one of the only pairs of twins Dr. Hasley brought into the Spartan-II program that actually survived together. Spartan Orion-326, "Valor", and Spartan Nyx-327, "Valkyrie", a formidable battlefield pair, if you forgive Nyx's tendencies to fly off the handle."
"I'd hate to take them from you-" Lennox started, before Captain Cutter cut them off.
"It'll save us their shenanigans." Cutter chuckled. "They'll drive you guys a special type of crazy before you get used to them."
"Optimus, what is your plan?" Ironhide asked quietly. "Hope that they integrate into our forces?"
"Ah, here they come now." Serina spoke up, interrupting any more conversation.
The twin Spartans strode into the bridge, matching each other stride for stride. Ratchet watched the pair of Spartans as they saluted Cutter.
"At ease." Cutter nodded.
"Cutter, why are we here?" Orion asked, voice commanding respect.
"If it's Serina pulling a fast one again-" Nyx argued, before Cutter gestured to her to stop. The Spartan fell silent.
"Why would I do such a thing?" Serina asked sweetly. To the Spartans' credit, they both ignored her.
"Because you're getting reassigned." Cutter told them, ignoring the bickering AI and Spartan and answering Orion's question.
Nyx shifted her feet and glanced in the autobots direction, green eyes seeming to seek out something that Ratchet couldn't quite place before sizing each of them up.
"This is Optimus, Ironhide, Ratchet, Bumblebee, Major Lennox, and Sam." Captain Cutter gestured to each on in turn. "Their part of the team you're getting reassigned to."
"What ship?" Orion asked, still holding that principled aura to him. Ratchet could deduce that Orion was the more mature Spartan out of the two.
"Forward Unto Dawn, captained by Terrence Hood."
Both Spartans nodded.
"When do we go onto the Dawn?" Nyx asked.
"When we dock in Reach's orbital Naval yard."
This seemed acceptable for the two Spartans. But there was something in Nyx's green eyes that made Ratchet compelled to know more about her. It wasn't love; that was reserved for his bond-mate, Arcee, but it was a nagging sense of curiosity. While Orion seemed like a noble and respectable leader, Nyx was something different. A lone wolf? Ratchet couldn't be sure.
"I would like to see if they can work with my team first. If not, we'll find a different pair of Spartans." Optimus rumbled.
"Fair." Orion nodded. He gave Nyx (who was currently distracted by Serina's taunting) a pointed look. "Nyx?"
"Huh?" She snapped back to attention. "Yeah."
"Stay focused, would you?"
"Sorry."
The group made it to the training room. It was a large room, and currently was set up like a paintball course. A few other Spartans were having a mock battle. The four Spartans, a fireteam, Ratchet assumed, paused and got out of the training arena.
Optimus turned to the group. "Bumblebee, Ironhide, and Ratchet, you will work with Nyx and Orion to try to bring me down."
"Bring it." Nyx grinned.
Getting into the training arena, Orion and Ironhide hit it off talking about weapons, while Nyx withdrew herself from the team. 'Bee seemed indifferent to the entire thing. Ratchet let his stride lag behind to fall in with Nyx.
"Ratchet, right?" Nyx asked as he matched her stride.
"Yes." Ratchet nodded. "Would you prefer your call sign or your name."
"My call sign. Its mostly just Orion who calls me Nyx." Nyx shrugged.
"Valkyrie, then."
"That's me, the one and only." She cocked her head to the side. Ratchet couldn't see her face, covered by her helmet, but he noticed two small metal wing cut-outs attached to the sides of her helmet, clearly a reference to her call sign.
"You seem withdrawn." The green mech said bluntly.
"I prefer to be alone. It's less complicated." She responded just as bluntly.
"Yet you work with your brother." Ratchet cocked an optic ridge at the Spartan.
"Because we've only ever had each other." She said, almost bitterly.
"We've got Optimus coming up fast!" 'Bee shouted over comms.
All five of them ducked behind cover when a low-level blast sent static electricity through the ground. Ratchet and Nyx went left, while the others went right.
"Maybe we could take Optimus by surprise if we get behind him." Nyx said.
"He'll be distracted with Orion, 'Bee and Ironhide he'll be completely open to a flanking maneuver." Ratchet nodded.
Making their way from behind the rubble, the autobot and the spartan were behind Optimus.
From their spot, Nyx and Ratchet could see Orion and Ironhide working in flawless unison as if they trained side by side. Orion warned Ironhide to an incoming low-level pulse so the mech could dodge it. Ironhide then helped Orion find a weak spot in Optimus's armor which would do a lot of damage is their ammunitions were real.
When Ratchet and Nyx rushed out, she gave him a nod, and he leaned down. The autobot and Spartan in perfect sync without speaking a word, Nyx leapt onto his hand and he launched her toward Prime. She landed on Prime's shoulder and pointed her empty blaster at him. She fired the blank the moment she landed.
"That's a kill." Nyx gave a decisive nod. From the Observation Platform, Lennox met Optimus's gaze.
"Well, what should we do?" Cutter asked.
"I think it's obvious, sir." Sam said. "Put the four of them on a Fireteam."
Planet Reach's UNSC Orbital Naval Yard; Epsilon Eridani System
Nyx walked through the Orbital Ship Dock's hallway. She had mixed feeling about the recent events unfolding in her life. She'd been put on a Fireteam, dubbed Fireteam Stormbringer.
It was clear to see where each member fell in terms of their roles, even before Sam and Optimus had assigned them.
Orion was both the team leader and the rifleman, with his leadership skills and his tactical prowess.
Ironhide was the specialist, since he would carry the added firepower, especially with his massive cannons and knack for weapons. He could also fall into the role of the grenadier or demolitions expert, carrying many different types of explosives.
Ratchet would fall into the medical support category, but also could have the role of a rifleman, providing suppressive fire for the rest of the team.
That would make Nyx the scout, or the designated Marksman. She would keep a look out for the enemy and serve as the early warning system, if you would. Her uncanny skills with scoped weapons, and her sharpshooter qualities made her a rather obvious choice, as was her ability to get in and out of places fast without being noticed.
It didn't make the Spartan any happier about the arrangements. But, Nyx could admit that the Fireteam name was pretty badass: Fireteam Stormbringer.
Getting to the Airlocks, Nyx put her thoughts away to focus on getting onto the Dawn. Walking through the complicated doors and getting into the Dawn, Nyx nodded with acceptance.
While making her way to the bridge, a 13-year-old girl came up to the Spartan.
"What's your name?" She chirped.
"Nyx."
"I'm Annabelle." She smiled, as was about to ask another question when Nyx cut her off.
"You're a kid." Nyx said bluntly.
"Yeah, I know. I'm allowed to be here, so is my mom. My dad is Major Lennox." She said.
"Cool." Nyx said slightly dismissively.
"Where are you going?"
"The bridge."
"Do you need help getting there? I can help!"
"That won't be necessary." Nyx said. "I've been on this ship before."
"Annabelle," A scolding voice said, and a woman who looked very similar to Annabelle came and grabbed her arm. Nyx assumed this new person was Annabelle's mother. "What have I told you about disturbing the ship crew?"
"To not to."
"I'm so sorry." She said to the Spartan. "I'm Sarah Lennox, Annabelle's mother."
"Nyx."
"Nice to meet you, Nyx." Sarah nodded with a smile, and began pulling her daughter down the hall.
"I like your hairstyle!" Annabelle called. It made Nyx smile.
"I forgot you had teeth." Orion said from beside her. Nyx spun around to look him in the eyes.
"Shut up."
"Alright, I won't give you any crap." The twin Spartans started down the causeway. "There's, ah, a specific wing of the ship set aside for NEST's use."
"This is their home-ship?"
"I assume so."
"Great." Nyx ground out.
"You're being overly cynical." Orion said simply.
"Cynical?!" Nyx raised her voice, spinng around to meet her brother's blue eyes. "Cynical?! I'm not the one being cynical!"
"You can't be pissed about this forever." Orion told her gently.
"Maybe I can." Nyx hissed. A few moments of silence passed.
"We got paired with an AI." Orion said simply.
"It better not be Serina."
"Nope, say hello to Eureka."
"It's a pleasure, Nyx." The AI said in a feminine voice from Orion's helmet.
"Whatever." Nyx hissed. Orion gave her a kick in shin. "What was that for?!"
"You better not turn this into a shitshow, you got that?" Orion scowled through his visor.
"I won't."
Getting to the NEST wing, Orion plugged Eureka into the system, and the AI spoke to the Spartans face to face. Eureka's appearance was rather simple, with jeans, a leather aviator jacket, and hair in a messy high bun.
"Let me begin to show you around, considering this is where most of your time will be sent."
"Belay that, Eureka." Sam called, striding over with Cogman by his side. The human prime gave Eureka a nod.
"Oh, Sam. What a pleasure." She dipped her holographic head. "This is autobot Cogman, Sam's assistant in his Prime duties. And I'm sure you've already met Samuel Prime, or Sam Witwicky."
"Like Optimus Prime?" Orion asked.
"Yes," Sam nodded with a smile. "Prime because of this." He showed the two Spartans the silver and blue Matrix of Leadership.
"Ancient Cybertronian Artifact, which Sam discovered on Earth, used to revive Optimus after Megatron killed him." Eureka supplied. "Many of the Primes in the Cybertronians' history have been known to carry it." She then muttered something about how fascinating their history was.
"How'd you get involved with the autobots?" Nyx asked.
"I bought a car. Turned out I bought Bumblebee." He smiled. "My great grandfather's glasses had coding imprint on them that would lead the Autobots to the Allspark, which is what created them. They had to get it before Megatron could, or it would bring to life all sorts of technology which Megatron would've used to take over the universe."
"Wow." Nyx breathed. "That's amazing."
Sam gave a smile and a nod.
"Where did all that happen on?" Orion asked.
"Eridanus II, before the Covenant glassed it." Cogman said. "It was a rather nice planet."
"I liked Eridanus." Nyx muttered. "Damn Covenant."
"I concur," A voice joined the conversation as a tall green mech strode up. Ratchet knelt down as to not tower over everyone. While both Spartans where about seven feet tall and loomed over their human peers, the autobots were much taller. Unless that Autobot was Cogman. Almost everyone was taller than him.
"Ratchet," Eureka addressed the autobot. "The shipment of supplies arrived and was sent to your med-bay. I saw to it personally."
"Thank you, Eureka."
"Of course." She nodded. "I'm sure Nyx and Orion could do to be introduced to the rest of the autobot forces."
The introductions went as smoothly as you could imagine with two Spartans, human soldiers and autobots all in the same room.
It was complete chaos.
Once the femmes found a kindred spirit in Nyx, trouble had been put into motion, and it set off a chain reaction.
It started once Moonracer challenged Nyx to a sniping contest. Orion desperately tried (and failed) to stop the impending calamity as the Spartan and Autobot raced to the designated training range.
It caused Prowl to glitch because of some very illogical statement involving duct tape and Soundwave.
Then, Ironhide started messing with Ratchet, so the two brothers-through-energon were in an all-out brawl. Arcee and Chromia simply laughed at their sparkmates as they tussled on the floor.
After, Cogman tackled Epps after Epps called him puny.
And then, Eureka gave Wheeljack an idea for a new weapon he could design which was sure to bring about more trouble and more havoc.
Following Wheeljack's light-bulb moment, Elita-One kicked Sunstreaker in the shin, which made Sideswipe try to help his brother. Elita then slapped Sideswipe.
After that, Crosshairs was just being cynical toward the world while the Dinobots were chasing each other around.
Then, Hound began showing off all his weapons to Drift, trying to tell him that ammo was better than swords.
Which all of that somehow caused Skids and Mudflaps… well, the twins were also wrestling each other.
Because of all of this, Bumblebee hid behind Optimus, willing all the madness away. Evac gave Optimus a "Help" look.
"ENOUGH, ALL OF YOU!" Nyx and Moonracer hadn't even gotten to the door when Optimus got to the end of his legendary patience because of the chaos.
Nyx and Moonracer skidded to a stop, while Ironhide shoved Ratchet out of his way, Arce and Chromia stopped laughing, Cogman let Epps go after tackling him, Elita glared at the corvette twins while they hopped around on one leg, and Bumblebee stepped out from behind Optimus.
"Well, I did not see that coming." Eureka spoke after a few moments of blissful silence.
Had anyone had any foresight of what Fireteam Stormbringer would accomplish, Eureka might have saved her comment for later.
A little bit of foreshadowing at the end there. I know it took a bit of time to start setting up, but next chapter Fireteam Stormbringer is going on their first mission, and I'll put Master Chief in there.
