Chapter 1: The Summoning

The wind, mist and stone pillars had slain upper moon 1 - Kokushibo, the strongest of the 12 Kizuki. This great and terrible monster had finally met his end. He was turned to dust as his consciousness dissolved in the endless void, his mind drifting into still nothingness. If only he had used all of his strength from the very beginning, he most likely would have triumphed with ease, decimating his enemies. But his defeat signaled his arrogance, his utter foolishness, he had underestimated his opponents, a sin he could not forgive himself for. Even as a young child he was trained to never let his guard down. A samurai must never look down on his foe, otherwise he may loose in battle before it even begins. What kind of samurai is he anyway? He wanted to be the strongest. He wanted to be better than his brother. And in the end, he failed even as an unstoppable Oni. A Youkai who's strength is equal in force to a Tsunami... No. He was no samurai. He had disgraced himself. A monster like him had no honor. His quest was for naught. He had failed the moment he took up Muzan's offer. All he wanted was to reach the sun...
In this very moment of stillness, when no thoughts graced his mind he knew he had truly died. Strangely he felt as if his silky kimono was once again on his body. Body... That should have been impossible. He realized he could form thoughts again, as if he came back from the dead. He felt the force of gravity pulling him downwards. It was as if he was falling. He felt upon his face the warm light of the sun. At first he opened all of his six eyes in panic, then came confusion. He was not burning to death, yet he had six eyes... This meant that he was still a man-eating demon? How was he was not dying to his greatest foe...? This should not be possible!

- "What the hell?!" - That was the question Kokushibo asked the universe in that moment.

It was then that he saw what was going on around him. Beneath him he saw an old western style castle, it's grounds were filled with smoke and dust. To the left he saw something even more strange. An enormous floating island and vast sea. To the right he looked upon distant planes: hillsides, forests, rivers and a giant city with an enormous castle towering high above. He was fast approaching the ground, so he regrouped his landing position to land on his two feet.
As he landed he quickly drew his blade. He slashed the dirtied air, and dust was instantly blown away by whistling gusts of wind. Before him stood a curious sight. Children no older than 14 years of age and an old man, their teacher most likely. In front of him was a tiny girl with pink hair. What was most surprising though, were the many creatures thought to be myths. A blue dragon instantly caught his 6 eyes. As he gazed upon it it started to shiver in fright. His owner picked up on it's behaviour and readied herself for combat drawing a... small stick? Kokushibo turned his gaze from the crowd of gaping wizards. Yes, because this was the only explanation for what was happening, no matter how silly it sounded. He then noticed someone pink approaching him. Right, the pink girl. She was rather confidently strolling towards him. Very bold of her, really. And also very stupid. Her teacher had tried to stop her shouting something in what he guessed was french. Smart one, eh?.. Kokushibo was still deep in his thoughts. What was going on? Is he crazy? He should be dead, yet he appears to be inside some medieval school training witches... Ridiculous! Yet... Could this be some type of other world? A place filled with fantastic creatures...Youkai? What is thought to be myth is apparently real here. Although where is "here", he did not know exactly. Kokushibo was bewildered, to say the least.

- (How is this possible. I am not dying to sunlight and it appears I landed inside some strange old castle? A school? Wizards of some sort? What is going on?!)

Confusion was evident on the demons face. Though it quickly turned to calm and collected concentration as a certain pinkette drew too close to him and started chanting something in french, waving her wand in his face. His senses flared up as she started to lean in, tiptoeing to reach his face. He instantly jumped away from her, cutting off her right arm in the process. He crossed the distance between the middle of the courtyard and academy walls in an instant. The children who were still processing what transpired just opened their mouths, shock was plastered on their faces. The pinkette was the first to realize what really happened as her bloodcurdling scream filled the air. The teacher and the blue haired girl followed soon after. The old professor drew his wand chanting something, flames flickered at the tip of his staff. The bluenette jumped atop her dragon and started to take off. Kokushibo, seeing that conflict is eminent had decided that any sort of confrontation with the unknown would be most unwise and simply left the scene at unimaginable speeds running through the forest in the direction of the vast wilderness he saw.
It was then that the entire academy stood on its ears as the choir of different horrified cries and shouts could be heard everywhere. Professor Colbert yelled for a water mage to be informed immediately. This was the beginning of many events that would shake Halkeginia to its very core. The moons shone a peculiarly bright purple on that night, the seas were restless, the winds were violent and shown no mercy to the airborne sailors. Such an event had never occurred before or afterwards. A bad omen, a "Sign of Calamity" as it would be interpreted years later.
