…Okay. I want to put something out here.

Jade has no idea what the fuck she is doing. She has been winging it since she decided she was going to help.

And now that I've established that piece of information, let's get back to what Jade was doing exactly.

Which was breaking into Luna's high security headquarters to rescue Purple's adoptive father so that they could get back into town to rescue Purple and the others.

How that was going?...That was another story.

It wasn't going well. At all.

First off, the place was crawling with red…skinned raccoons?(Okay, what the fuck was Luna on? These things are shit at protecting the place.)

Skinned raccoons and weird snake thingies. That's what was guarding the place.

It's also crawling with red vines all over the walls, some leaking out of doors.

It almost looks like blood in the shape of the complex root system of a tree. Water trickling through cracks of a dam.

The entire place smells disgusting, and it's dark too. The vines are wrapping around everything, including the lights.

Jade's lucky he has his phone on him. His flashlight does him wonders.

Sure, it's slow as absolute shit, and has been for the past couple of years, but it's all he has now.

Everything else he knows is gone. Stripped away when he was first joining The Void(Although that was in part of his family), or destroyed in the fire he'd narrowly escaped with his life.

(Good lord, what was it with people and having vendettas against a 15-year-old kid?)

Jade carefully stepped over another vine, her eyes trained on the small pockets of light her flashlight gave off. It was far from enough, she knew that for a fact, but what else could she do?

He had nothing else but his phone. And that phone was going to get him and a bunch of others out of this building alive.

Her ears caught wind of the vivid sound of chains clanking together. She froze, pausing to see if she could hear it again.

The clanking continued as soon as she stopped.

That's when Jade started to panic. Where was he going to hide? There was no way these vines were quiet, he was going to alert whoever was in there of his presence if he tried hiding in a room!

Jade was going to have to rely on her senses for now. Switching the flashlight off, Jade ducked against the wall, her hands tightly slapped against her sides to make sure she didn't touch the vines.

They were definitely going to be his saving grace or his doom. Whichever came first.

Jade waited with baited breath as the clanking got further and further away. Then, she did what could probably end up killing her, but would be worth it in the future.

She followed the sounds.

I know. Stupid move, right?

But although she couldn't see all that well, because of the dimmed or entirely covered lights, she could vividly see a pitch black figure walking down the hallway.

His footsteps were as quiet as he could make them as he stepped forward, hopscotching his way through the maze of vines to make sure he didn't make sudden movements or noise to alert the guards of his presence.

Eventually, the clanking stopped, and Jade winced as the piercing sound of metal squeaking filled the room. Clearly, the guards were placing people in a cell.

The door then clanged shut, and Jade distinctly heard a voice. A female.

"Stay there until your precious sunshine cheats death and saves your asses. Not like that'll happen anyway, but it's a nice thought, is it not?"

She was clearly talking about Purple. But why wouldn't Purple have shown up already?

He'd heard enough of Periwinkle's plan to know they were barely a day out of town if he walked. That had been yesterday, he should have been here by now!

…Unless something had happened. Which shouldn't be possible.

Purple knew what he was doing when he escaped The Void, he clearly knew what he was doing before Luna showed up and ruined everything, why wouldn't he know what he was doing now?

He should be here by now, where was he?!

…No time to think about that now. Jade had to get those guys out of there.

She knew that it had to be Purple's family. There was no doubt in her mind that Purple's family had been chained up and thrown in that cell.

She waited for the coast to clear before she bolted down the hall, jumping over the vines and rounding the corner. She could hear voices down the hall.

"That son of a-"

"Vic, dear, that won't help us-"

"THIS IS MY COMPANY! MINE! SURRENDER ROCKET CORP BACK TO ME OR THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES, YOU HEAR ME?!"

"She's barely older than Purple, her brain has not developed."

"Are you calling me kid stupid?!"

"No, I'm implying that her brain hasn't developed as much as Purple's has. His has developed differently, probably because of less-than-fortunate living circumstances in early childhood."

…That somehow made so much more sense now.

But Jade couldn't dwell on that now. He had to get them out.

He placed a hand on the metal, which was met with a fist.

"LET US OUT!"

"Okay, okay! Jesus Christ, how does Purple put up with you."

Another spoke up. "You know Purple?!"

"Well..know isn't a word I'd use. Some former friends of mine are the reason why he isn't here with us right now."

"He's dead!?"

"No! Far from it! He's alive, I just don't know where he is."

The stick, clearly his father, sighed. "Thank God for that."

If Jade had to guess, Purple was somewhere in the city. Which meant they'd be using the boss, who Jade knew was in there(he'd made it very clear that he was in there with them), to get out of there without dying.

Jade finally got the cell open, and the metal squeaked loudly.

"Fuck. Okay, let's get the hell out of here before they figure out I got in and got you guys out."

"Where exactly are we meant to go?"

"...My guess would be the city. If my theory is correct, that's where Purple is, and that's how we're going to find him."
