"Dad, I'm home and I brought back some company." Arthur said as he led Kaldur, Alex, Oliver and Diana into his family's lighthouse, since Kaldur had refused to give him the message from his mother until they were in private and his father was there too.
"Arthur, what have I told you about bringing back guests without asking?" Thomas Curry asked him as he walked out to meet them.
"They said they have a message from mom." Arthur said and Thomas sighed.
"From the moment I saw Supergirl's announcement on TV, I knew it was only a matter of time until this day came, but I thought I'd have a little more time. Which one of you is from Atlantis?" Thomas asked, shocking all of them that Thomas knew about Atlantis.
"I am. I was sent by Princess Mera to stop Orm from destroying both the surface world and Atlantis in a pointless war." Kaldur said.
"And I'm guessing the rest of you are members of this new Justice League?" Thomas asked, showing off his deductive skills.
"How did you?" Alex asked.
"Because there's no way anyone from Atlantis could even walk on the surface, let alone find Arthur without help from the Justice League, not to mention I doubt this League would allow any Atlanteans to walk on this planet without supervision." Thomas said.
"This guy is good." Oliver admitted.
"I'm familiar with secrets." Thomas said.
"Wait, what is going on, what does it have to do with Atlantis and what does it have to do with me?" Arthur asked.
"Perhaps this will explain everything." Kaldur said as he pulled out a small device and placed it on the ground before it created a holographic water based projection of a beautiful blonde haired woman.
"Atlanna." Thomas said in shock at seeing his lost love again after so many years.
"Mom." Arthur said as the league members suddenly felt like they were intruding.
"Hello Arthur. If you're seeing this message, it means that I'm not there to tell you in person myself. Leaving you and your father was the hardest decision I've ever had to make, but I made it to protect you both from the consequences that were sure to follow my decision to be with your father. This is not how I wanted you to find out Arthur, but if you're seeing this message, then that means that the time has come for you to learn the truth about me, my family and yourself. I don't know what your father told you about me, but I am actually from Atlantis. In fact, I am or I suppose I was the Queen of Atlantis, but I fled my home to escape an arranged marriage. Your father saved me from a storm and he and I fell in love. And that love resulted in your birth. My firstborn son, making you the rightful heir to the throne of Atlantis. But I was never going to force this burden on you. I'd hoped to give you a normal life with your father, safe from the risks that come from being my son until you were old enough and strong enough to join me in Atlantis. But if you're watching this, I guess that didn't happen, since that means that your younger half brother Orm decided to take matters into his own hands, since the only reason you would be seeing this would be if he is sitting on the throne of Atlantis and is waging war against the surface world. I'd hoped to spare you this burden, but you are the only one who can stop Orm. The time has come for you to take your rightful place as king, though it will not be easy, since your heritage as half human will not make Atlantis take you seriously right now. Fortunately, there is a way you can convince them and whoever it is that brought this message to you can explain it. Tell your father I love him and miss him, just like how I both love and miss you Arthur. I know you'll do the right thing." the hologram of Queen Atlanna said before it dissolved into a splash of water.
"Are you okay?" Oliver asked Arthur, since he was remembering what seeing a message from his dad had done to him after his death.
"Yeah, it's just a lot to process." Arthur said.
"Understandable, but what did she mean about the way to make Atlantis take you seriously?" Diana asked.
"No clue, I think that was meant for this guy." Arthur said, referring to Kaldur.
"Indeed. I believe that the queen was referring to the lost trident of King Atlan." Kaldur said.
"Wait, I've heard of that, I thought it was just a myth." Diana said.
"What is this trident and who's Atlan?" Oliver asked.
"Atlan was the founder and first king of Atlantis from before it sunk and his trident was the mightiest weapon ever forged at that time." Kaldur said and Diana nodded.
"According to the stories I read as a child, the trident was gifted to Atlan by the sea god Poseidon himself and that the trident was imbued with the power of the ocean itself." Diana said.
"And it was that power that caused Atlantis to sink beneath the waves, since the people of Atlantis became too ambitious and an experiment with Atlan's trident caused the kingdoms of Atlantis to sink, but it's also what gave us the ability to breathe underwater. But Atlan, blaming himself for Atlantis's fall, went into self imposed exile. Neither he or the trident were ever seen again." Kaldur said.
"So what good does that do us? Some lost trident?" Oliver asked.
"There is a prophecy regarding the trident that states only Atlan's true heir can claim it and with it, the throne of Atlantis. Atlanna always believed that Arthur was the one destined to find it, since his bloodline is of both the land and the sea. You could be the bridge between our two worlds." Kaldur said.
"He's right. Even the Amazons know that prophecy. If Arthur can claim the trident and wield its power to defeat Orm in combat, then Arthur could take the throne and usher in a new age of peace." Diana said.
"We have to ask you to do this, but that doesn't mean you need to. It's your choice." Alex said to Arthur.
"What happened to my mother?" Arthur asked.
"No one knows for sure. All I know for sure is that Orm led a coup against her before seizing the throne and starting this war. No one knows if Queen Atlanna survived the attack." Kaldur said.
"Then I'm in. If only to find out what happened to my mom." Arthur said.
"Good. Now we just need to figure out where to start looking." Diana said, right as her comms went off.
"I hope you guys found Arthur Curry, because right now, there's another attack happening in Metropolis. Superman, Martian Manhunter and Flash are already on site and Batman and I are en route and I want you, Green Lantern and Green Arrow to meet us there. It's an all hands on deck situation." Supergirl said over the comms.
"We found Arthur Curry and he's agreed to help. I'll leave him with Kaldur to try and determine how Arthur should take the throne while we stop the Atlantis attack on Metropolis." Diana said.
"Copy that. See you there." Supergirl said.
"Did you guys hear that?" Diana asked her fellow leaguers.
"Attack in Metropolis, yeah, let's get going." Alex said as she summoned her suit from her ring as they headed out.
"I'm going with you." Arthur said.
"No, not yet. You're our ace in the hole Arthur. We can't risk letting Atlantis know about you until we're ready for them to know. Figure out where to start looking for the trident. We'll be back to bring you both League HQ after we stop this fight." Diana said, since Argus HQ had become the League's temporary headquarters for the time being.
"Okay then." Arthur said, since he couldn't argue with that as the leaguers left.
As you've probably guessed, Arthur Curry/Aquaman is played by Chris Hemsworth, Thomas Curry is played by Kurt Russel and Queen Atlanna is played by Lucy Lawless.
