With all the gamer fanfics out there, i needed one of my own. Originally i was going to write Naruto, but following the original story is boring, and naruto doesnt have enough worldbuilding to branch out so i chose one piece. With a thousand chapters of information I should be able to write a good story despite not joing Luffy. Now I'm just gonna say this once before we begin, i do not own one piece or any of its characters. The goat Oda does.

Isn't it funny how even in death, your problems don't fade. I mean the pain does, but the problems are still there. A weak body, a weak mind, not to mention a lack of chicken. All of these are problems that exist after dying, though I guess my biggest problem right now was one that I came across as a result of my death.

[You have been chosen.]

'Please don't tell me this is some kind of second chance at life.' I thought to myself.

[Correct, we're running trials on a new kind of system to make the world more enjoyable for the humans and more fun to watch. Did you not want to participate? We let you choose the world.]

'I'd prefer to rest in peace actually.' I replied mentally.

[That's surprising, people usually jump at the opportunity.]

'I'm 20, I'm not a child.'

[Well anyway, you don't really have a choice. Pick a world, we'll run our test and when we're done, you'll be able to rest in peace.]

'Then why ask if I wanted to participate?' I sighed. 'One piece it is, I'm at least getting some special abilities right? I really don't want to go if you're just sending me to my death.'

[Of course, the longer you live the more data we can collect.]

'New skill has been obtained'

'New skill has been obtained'

[Would you like to see the new skills?]

'No, I'm alright. Just send me in, I'll figure it out as I go along.'

[Well, one more thing before you go, please choose an element to master.]

[Metal, Blood, Bug, Water, Dark, Mind, Light, Sand, Fire…]

'I'll go with Storm.' I decided.

[Good choice, I'll watch over you through the system. Welcome to your new life.]

I closed my eyes and the next thing I noticed was waking up to a mind numbing chill. "Snow?" I touched the strange powder like ice. "I've never seen snow before."

[You shouldn't stand around for too long, with your current stats it wouldn't be hard to freeze to death.]

'Really? How bad are my stats?' I thought, immediately a new screen replaced the text.

However, instead of getting an answer, something else popped up.

Finding Warmth

Find shelter before your health reaches zero.

Reward: Starter kit, 20 exp.

Failure: Death]

A moment later my health went from ten to nine as the snow continued piling up. "Damn it, why did I have to die in december?"

I began to run but with my endurance stat as low as it was, and training apparently not raising it, I wasn't getting very far. Every few seconds, my pace that surely a turtle could keep up with fell as I began breathing heavily. "Why do I even get tired with a virtual body?!" I shouted to no one in particular as I kept moving.

Time passed when I finally saw smoke rising in the distance, the only problem was my health had fallen to one and there was no way I was going to make it. "They say burrowing into the snow can keep out the cold, right?" I asked myself aloud, running out of options.

Not wanting to die so easily, I began pulling at the snow with my hands shoving it into my inventory, attempting to carve out a cave in the snow and eventually succeeding.

"You definitely made this hard." I breathed out, relieved to see my health slowly recover.

'You have reached level 4!'

'You have fifteen unused stat points.'

"3 levels, that's good. Nice to see my pain be rewarded. I'll dump most of it into endurance and agility, I can't keep getting tired every few steps." I put nine into agility, four into endurance, and two into strength. With each point I could feel my body grow stronger. "This might be better than resting in peace after all."

I then moved on to the inventory and clicked on my reward.

'A great grade sword? The same level as Wado and Enma…' I smiled. 'Well isn't this nice.'

[You have no sword experience, using a cursed sword is not advised by someone of your level.]

I got up from the cave as my health finally reached full, stepping back out into the snow. "It'll be fine, cursed swords are a joke in this world." I swung it around, it was surprisingly light considering my strength. "It doesn't even feel cursed. It's just a normal sword."

[We have no control over what items you gain from the system? Don't use it unless you have to, there'll be no data to gain from you dying on the first day.]

I sighed. "Fine, I'll place it in my inventory for now, but I'll use it if my abilities aren't enough."

The village was quite strange, despite the snow covering the ground, it wasn't cold, in fact it felt like a normal sunny day. The wooden houses were fortified with bones and it seemed like the village stretched out for miles.

'The dungeon is bigger on the inside.' I noted. That's when I heard a giggle, I whipped my head around but saw nothing, again the giggle could be heard, like a young girl that just made a new friend. I stood in the middle of the street glancing around rapidly as shadows dashed around the village, the giggling getting louder as deeper voices joined in. Eventually the only thing I could hear was the cackling.

"What do I do now?!" I shouted in fear. "You brought me here, help me!"

[Skills can be used simply by will and the right actions, try using observe, take a look at their stats. As this serves as the tutorial, this island will be the only place where I can help out this much.]

I calmed myself, or at least tried, my legs were still trembling as the shadows drew closer. "T-Thank you, but I hope you give me a proper rest if I happen to die again. Though I'm not looking forward to the pain." I smirked trying to hide my fear. "Observe."

[The skill Observe has been activated. Due to there being multiple enemies, you will be shown the average level.]

A man eating creature, it's sharpened teeth and claws are perfect for tearing through flesh. It'll attack relentlessly to satisfy its hunger.

Although their stats are low, they make up for it with numbers and a ferocious nature.]

"I've never killed another person before, am I safe to assume these things aren't human?" I asked.

[That's correct, they're created by the system, they don't have souls, they only follow the coding that they're given.]

I sighed in relief. "That'll at least take off some of the difficulty, though I might not be able to get past the way they look." I said as a young girl dashed out of one of the houses, still giggling and showing off shark-like teeth. I put up my arms to defend but as it drew closer I realized how slow it was moving, my eyes were easily keeping up. I stepped out of the way as it lunged at me throwing out a Lightning pellet.

The lightning strangely red as it made contact with the creatures small frame and sent it tumbling in the snow.

'10 damage dealt.'

'I can at least handle this much.' I smiled. That was when I heard laughs from behind as four more kids pounced at me. I frantically dodged the attacks grabbing one by the throat as I sent electricity through my palms. "Electrocute." I announced as I shocked the small creature.

'Critical, 12 damage dealt.'

It shook off the attack and reared at me aiming for my throat, I quickly threw the boy away and dodged another cannibal's claws before countering and sweeping their legs out from under them. As it hit the floor I grabbed another cannibal as they aimed a claw at my throat, I then broke its arm, and used its arm to cut its fallen ally across the stomach.

'4x combo, 18 damage dealt.'

'Cannibal has been affected by heavy bleeding.'

'Cannibal has been affected by heavy bleeding.'

[Cannibal x2 has been defeated, gained 6 exp.]

I turned back to the other three, one of them still unharmed while the other two already had some scars. They dashed in together, slashing furiously, their laughs gone but the cackling in the background as the others watched on was still there. I narrowly dodged some fangs as the cooldown for Lightning pellet reset. I shot the most injured one away, their health falling to five as one of the cannibal's claws finally met my cheek.

'9 damage has been taken.'

I immediately began to panic. 'My health fell to one from one attack?'

[Your defense and vitality are both rather low, try upgrading them to increase the chances of survival.]

Scared of getting hit, I drew the sword from my inventory and cut the uninjured one across the throat.

'Critical, 6 damage dealt. Cannibal affected by heavy bleeding.'

It held its throat as its blood painted the snow red, but it kept fighting, I blocked its attack with the blade and threw it back. I heard footsteps in the snow behind me, I turned barely parrying the claws of the young girl before taking its head off with my next swing.

[Cannibal has been defeated, 3 exp gained.]

All that remained were two boys, one's health at 18 and falling and the other at 20. I felt a weird sensation in my right hand as the sword seemed to glow red for a second but I ignored it as I continued fighting the two young Cannibals.

[Cannibal x2 has been defeated, 6 exp gained.]

'You have reached level 5, remaining stat points: 5.'

After putting three points into vitality and two into defense, I prepared for the next wave. My health had gone up to 31 so my fear had died down a little but it wasn't good that I was starting to tire out.

This time ten people stepped out, all adults, they're stats the same as the children. They picked the children off the ground and threw them into the crowd, they're bodies disappearing in an army of teeth as they were torn apart and devoured. I felt sick, the smell of blood overwhelming my senses, if this was what I had to go through, I wasn't sure I could survive, the fear of dying was the only thing keeping me going.

They dashed head on closing in on me from all sides, as one of them slashed out with outstretched claws, I ducked and punched them in the stomach.

'3 damage dealt."

I immediately put up my blade in a defensive manner, blocking the claws of another before sidestepping a pair of teeth and tripping one of the cannibals before driving my sword into their heart.

'Critical hit, 30 damage dealt.'

[Cannibal has been defeated, gained 3 exp.]

A strange sense of bliss began overwhelming the fear as the blood soaked the blade. "With a well placed attack, my strength doesn't matter." I said to myself as I cut down another cannibal.

[Cannibal has been defeated, 3 exp gained.]

[You need to put the sword away now!]

I ignored the message, cutting down two more before grabbing another and electrocuting them. They stood there paralyzed as their head was escorted off their shoulders.

[3x Cannibal has been defeated, 9 exp gained.]

I had never held a sword before but as my mind began to fall, my movements became cleaner and 5 more cannibal's fell when pain erupted in my chest.

[5x Cannibal has been defeated, 15 exp gained.]

'You have reached level 6.'

I let the messages fall away looking down to see the sword in my chest, my hp falling rapidly. I immediately returned it to my inventory and my mind cleared, I fell to the floor panting and sweating.

[You don't have time to rest, the final wave is coming. Increase your stats and be ready.]

I increased my strength and Vitality, struggling to my legs. My energy all but disappeared as shock overwhelmed me. Had I not had 'Gamer's body' I would've died and next time pain would likely not be enough to wake me.

The rest of the Cannibal army approached and now barking could be heard along with the laughter as 15 people rushed in, 10 remaining in the back riding massive wolves.

[Devil Hound, Lv. 7

Health: 100/100

A wolf-like creature with sharp jaws and a craving for human flesh.]

"Fire!" I heard a dark voice booming in my ear as the men riding the wolves began firing arrows onto the battlefield. As the adrenaline took over I immediately jumped into action dashing head on as I grabbed one of the cannibals and threw them into another and followed up with a lightning pellet. Each of my normal attacks now dealing 12 damage with my strength now doubling their defense.

I caught another's arm tearing it off before using it as my new blade, slashing into their throat with their own claws. As the arrows rained down from above I grabbed the lifeless corpse to shield off the attack, the cannibals around me not caring as their bodies were pierced by their allies' attack.

I dropped the body to the side running at one of the adults and tearing the arrow out their back before stabbing another in the chest. Barking sounded behind me as I whipped around pulling the sword from my inventory and throwing it up to block as the wolf crunched down on it, I struggled against its strength barely able to hold it off as my mind began slipping away. Not wanting to end up in the same situation like befote, I let the blade fall back into my inventory before shoving my hands into the canine's throat. "Electrocute!" I shouted as the red lightning surged through its body, killing its rider.

Using the opportunity I hopped on its back as it tried to snap at me, I tugged on the wolf's fur lightning charging as I hit it with a lightning pellet, nowhere near enough to kill the stronger beast but enough for it to move the way I wanted as it slashed through two more cannibals.

'You have reached level 7.'

I put the points into endurance, feeling my energy come back and my strength return. Rejuvenated, I dragged the hound towards my enemies. It tore into them making a meal off of every Cannibal it came across. Eventually the numbers were brought down to just the nine wolves and their riders.

I charged electricity into my palms one last time as I finished off the wolf I was riding and jumped off.

[Devilhound has been defeated, 14 exp gained.]

'You have reached level 8, Points until next level: 38'

The points increasing my strength, I ran forward and dodged the arrows raining down from above. I grabbed onto one of the hounds' jaws, closing it shut and dodging a point blank arrow from its rider. "Lightning pellet!"

The rider flew across the clearing, landing in a patch of red snow. I pulled the wolf to the ground, grabbing the arrows and throwing one at the fallen man, killing him.

Hearing the snarls behind me, I jumped as the hound crashed into the snow, landing on its back I stabbed it with the arrow before jumping off as arrows collapsed in on my location.

"Your aim is horrid." I panted as I faced the eight remaining cannibals.

"Idiots! Get off the hounds!" The dark voice commanded, louder this time. "You don't need them to fire arrows, unleash them on our prey and shoot until he's dead!"

The Cannibal's followed the command as the 8 hounds charged at me. My speed was still higher but with the numbers and my lack of real weaponry I was at a huge disadvantage. I resorted to making them hit each other, any remaining fear beginning to ebb away as I saw their numbers fall. "This fighting thing isn't that bad when you have the stats to back it up." I smiled, electrocuting one of the hounds and taking them out, then with a quick lightning pellet another fell right after.

'You have reached level 9, Points until next level: 48.'

'The lightning pellet skill has reached level 2, damage has been increased to 20.'

I used the points for my defense as fangs made contact with my arm, the pain searing through my body, my health falling from 21 to 13. I countered, stabbing the hound in the eye causing it to loosen its grip. Never the type to stay in one place, I ducked on instinct as a paw flew over my head and left a deep cut across another hounds flank. It staggered for a bit before falling to the ground being left to bleed out.

Arrows continued to rain down and with each one taking 2 points from my health it was about time they were dealt with. I broke out from the group of hounds dashing towards their backline throwing arrows to harm them before getting closer and finishing the job. I sped through the 8 archers, putting all the arrows I could into my inventory.

I felt confident but because of that I made a mistake and took a hit from one of the hounds, my health falling back to 1. I immediately jumped onto one of the rooftops to distance myself.

[8x Cannibal has been defeated, 24 exp gained.]

I sat down as the hounds roared beneath me, clawing at the wooden structure in an attempt to bring me down. I sighed tiredly, having used up most of my energy. "Without their riders or proper commands, they shouldn't be able to make it up here, good time for me to test some things." I pulled an arrow from my inventory and activated my lighting pellet before throwing it at one of the hounds.

'A special skill has been created through a certain act.'

Lightning Arrow Lv. 1(An arrow imbued with lightning. 100% damage, 3 second cooldown, cost 1 arrow.)

I then stuck to the rooftop slowly killing the hounds while resting periodically to slowly restore my energy. After half an hour of the repeated process, I was finally done.

'You have reached level 10, Points until next level: 6.'

I put my points into health, without actual rest it wouldn't replenish and I knew I needed all I could after seeing the screen that popped up.

Skeleton Mimicry(Turns his body into that of a Skeleton, multiplying agility by 2 but cutting defense and strength in half.)

Rexur scowled. "So you're the little rat cleaning up all my people, I worked hard to make a Cannibal utopia and I won't let you destroy it."

I smirked. "Won't let me destroy what? I already wiped out your entire village of cannibals."

"Oh it won't matter, I can just bring them all back." The man lifted his hand, Dark energy devouring it as the bodies of the fallen jerked. "They don't need to be human to bring me dinner."

Flesh melted away from the bodies leaving only a Skeleton that rose up to face me, within moments I was surrounded by the creatures.

"Well isn't this nice." I smiled. "Free experience to help me get even stronger. Just more mobs for me to kill." I punched one of the skeletons, its body immediately being destroyed from the difference in strength but my exp did not go up.

[Notice: Summoned creatures grant no experience when defeated.]

"Okay so it isn't, they're still easy to kill, I'll just deal with all of them before killing you."

"That's not how this works." Rexur grinned as the Skeleton rose again. "The skeletons don't disappear until the source of the power is gone, in other words, you're gonna have to kill me if you want to destroy my army."

"Easy enough." I smirked, drawing an arrow from my inventory and empowering it with lightning. "Lightning Arrow!"

Rexur's hand rose again and a wall of bone followed, blocking the arrow. "If you thought it'd be that easy, you're sorely mistaken. I haven't had a good piece of prey in quite awhile."

"I don't think you're the one on the hunt today."

"You'd better hope not, Bone art: Bone Spear!"

"Spark fist!" I replied as my fist made contact with the projectile, leading to a shower of shattered bone and sparks of lightning.

Rexur scowled as he dropped his cloak, his body turning into that of a Skeleton, his lack of hair allowing him to blend into the crowd. "I'll have to take this seriously. Everyone, attack!" He commanded before disappearing into the group.

I jumped to the roof, sending down a lightning pellet destroying one of the skeletons. Its body began to shape itself as swords appeared in the army's hands.

They rushed the house, destroying it with a couple of swings. I dodged a slash from one of them, stealing the sword from their hands and using it to cut three others down. My mind felt clear, as I fought, I searched the crowd for anyone that stood out until I saw one Skeleton with a slash in its skull. 'Rexur is missing an eye.'

I began slowly making my way towards him, trying my best to make it not seem so obvious once in range I used the bone sword to take his head clean off. But as the bones fell to the floor, they reshaped and locked my arms down.

"Wrong one." A voice laughed as Rexur leapt out of the crowd.

I immediately threw up my arms, his attack breaking the shackles. I grabbed an arrow from my inventory, dragging his sword to the side before thrusting my palm into his chest. "Electrocute!"

"Sorry kid, you're gonna have to be a lot faster if you want to hurt me." He smiled as bone engulfed his chest to block the shot.

I followed up immediately with a kick, snatching the sword from his hands and turning it on him just for a hound to bite my arm and make me drop the weapon.

Rexur recovered jumping back into the crowd, his body reforming and the skeletons gathering around him. The sword of bone at my feet reshaped into cuffs as it locked my feet in place, the hound jumping from its position to join the army.

"You're quick, faster than me even when I'm in my skeleton form." Rexurs body was slowly covered in bone. "Luckily for me, I know a way to counter that. Bone art: Giant skeleton!" Rising from the bone, a colossus appeared, its appearance not as bulky as the giants of elbaf, it was slim, likely to be a bit faster.

"Bullshit." I whispered, looking up at the towering creature. "Hey, maybe stop fighting like a bitch!" I shouted. "Come down and fight me one on one, even the playing field!"

"I mean I could." The deep voice rumbled in my ears. "However I just love looking down on people. Mountain Breaker!" He announced as a massive hammer appeared in his hands, he swung down the hammer seeming to take up the whole sky as it slammed down.

I jumped back, the hammer making contact with where I was standing moments before, the ground trembled, on instinct I jumped on top of one of the houses as giant spikes made of bone erupted from beneath me. "Complete bullshit."

"It may be a bit overkill but I'm not known for holding back, though I might miss out on a meal once you're smashed into the ground." Rexur brought the hammer back up, the area where he struck now devoid of snow replaced by a pool of water.

I kept jumping around, dodging each heavy strike, the houses being destroyed with every swing. 'I need to think l of something fast.' I thought.

[I don't think thinking about the need to think is helping.]

"Yeah I know, but maybe I'll think faster that way. In fact I already have an idea, his endurance isn't much higher than mine, he can't drag this out forever." I weaved around the buildings waiting until I was out of his line of sight before charging electricity in my fist. "Spark fist." I whispered as I punched the floor, creating a large hole in the snow, I then jumped down inside and pulled some snow out of my inventory to cover the area.

From inside I could hear buildings being flattened all around me as he searched. "Where are you hiding? All this talk about fighting with pride and yet you're running like a scared little bitch!" His roars grew louder with each passing second until it died down and the pounding of the hammer faded away, having regained some energy of my own I once again charged electricity in my fist to leave the snow.

"There you are." Rexur growled. "I'm not stupid enough to waste all my energy, I knew you'd come out of hiding eventually. I can't recreate that giant with the energy I have left, but I still have more than enough to fight you and keep the advantage." His body once more morphed into that of a skeleton, a sword of bone appearing in his hand.

"As long as it's just you versus me, I won't lose." I told him.

"We'll see, Bone Arts: Field of bone!"

I looked around as the snow gave way to a hardened surface. "What's the point of this? The snow hindered my movements, now I can use my full speed to my advantage."

"You could, but I control the field. One slip up and you'll be pierced through the heart." He took a step, a pillar of bone erupting from the ground and striking me in my chest, sending me flying into a wall.

[8 damage taken, Remaining health: 30/100]

"You're lucky I didn't use that chance to kill you. I sacrifice a good deal of strength in this form, but everything including my attacks and mind become faster, with control of terrain and bone you can barely break, you can't win." Rexur explained.

I held my chest as I regained my footing. "How do you know I won't just retreat?" I asked. "I could wait this out too, wait for a moment to strike and win."

"Simple, your pride won't allow it. This is the one v one you wanted, now come at me." He taunted.

I sighed. "You're right, I don't plan on running. But it is true that I'm at a disadvantage, I didn't want to use it but it's the only thing that'll break through that bone." I drew the sword from my inventory, feeling it cloud my mind but not letting it take complete control. "The muramasa, luckily for me, in that form you don't bleed so it's control shouldn't get any stronger. I'll have to end this quickly."

Rexur lifted his hand. "Bone arts: Bone shard!" He called as a pillar of bone shot towards me.

I jumped forward, charging lightning into one of my arrows before throwing it forward. "Lightning Arrow!" The two attacks canceled each other out, the shards of bone obscuring my vision. I heard a bone crack from the right and jumped back as a small ball of bone erupted from the ground.

"Bone blast." Rexur said, his voice echoing around the clearing. "A condensed ball of bone that can even pierce steel."

"I'm fast enough to dodge it, so its power doesn't really matter." I said calmly as I dodged another shot.

"Is that so?" Rexur asked.

Suddenly, a skeleton hand shot up from the ground holding me in place as a ball of bone shot from Rexur's fingers, aiming straight for my head.

I ducked, destroying the boney hand as the attack flew overhead. Rexur fell through the bone, disappearing until I heard a chuckle from behind. "Die!" He yelled as the white blade slashed my cheek.

I turned around, lighting up my blade. "Electrocute!" Rexur sidestepped the attack, grabbing my arm and pulling me in. "Spark fist!" I yelled trying to make contact with his chest, but he quickly pulled up a wall of bone to block. As my fist smashed through the wall, I swung the sword again, Rexur took a step sending a pillar of bone into my chest as my blade grazed his face.

"Bone rush!" The skeletons yelled as he sent out a barrage of pillars, I pulled up my sword to block but was still sent flying back.

[Remaining health: 6/100]

As the pain faded I flipped in mid air dragging my sword across the red snow, my mind fading faster and the snow turning white. I used the sword to flick some of the snow into the arrow, blocking his view. The moment my feet touched the ground I jumped into the sky and dumped the rest of the snow out of my inventory. "Avalanche!"

The ground shook as walls of bone rose to stop the attack, Rexur quickly increased the density of the bone and shaped it around him. "Skeleton dome!" He felt a strain on the walls as what was at least a hundred pounds of snow fell on top of him. "Bone pillar!" A white pillar rose breaking through the snow allowing Rexur to fly out before he was buried alive. The moment he made it out, I was waiting behind him with my sword closing in on his head. He blocked it with a wall of bone but the barrier was easily cut through as the blade met his neck.

[Rexur has been defeated, 60 exp gained]

'You have reached level 11.'

"I did it." I breathed out in relief, I tried returning the sword to my inventory but was stopped.

"Well aren't you flashy." A strange voice came from above. "A real freak."

Those were the last words I heard as the sword took over my mind.

Final thoughts

The level system in this story is calculated, and the elemental skills are random. I wrote down a list of storm based skills and ranked them 1-10, I then start from the level 1 skills, randomizing which one I get for the completed quest. The boss skill was also randomized, I won't lie, I was hoping for the skeleton summon, but bone art is just as useful. Also paralysis is actually a 1 in 10 chance, random number generator. If i get a 7, then it'll paralyze.

Anyway I'll post each chapter as fast as I can as lomg as theirs still interest in the story. Feel free to follow or favorite if you'd like to read more.
