Summary: "Seek out all Pokemon, and thou shalt find me once more." Kagome knew that when she encountered that "Arceus" being again, then she'd be able to recover her portion of the jewel and return to her own world. Seemed easy enough, surely. Despite knowing she should find her way back, a part of her can't help but feel as though she's right where she's meant to be…

Pairing: Volo/Kagome

Chapter One

The aged wood of the well creaked and groaned under her weight. She paused for a moment, seating herself on the lip of the well as she peered silently into the depths. For whatever reason, a strange feeling had formed somewhere deep in the pit of her stomach, leaving her contemplating her decision. The sun was still high overhead, with only a few clouds lingering in the sky to block out the bright rays of sunlight.

"Something doesn't feel right…" Kagome murmured to herself as she once more lowered her attention to the abyss within the well. Physically, everything seemed as it should, yet, for some reason, that nagging feeling wouldn't fade. Her brows narrowed as her grip on the well's ledge tightened.

She'd gone down the well and back dozens of times if not hundreds. So why did it feel so different this time?

"I'm probably just overreacting from that last fight," she murmured to herself in an attempt to soothe the nerves that had become so alive with unease. After all, that's why she needed to head back to the present- so she could restock on the medical necessities and a few other things for their group. Something that shouldn't take any more than a week, considering how she was also going to catch up with her friends and family while she was there. It was a cycle often repeated, and yet, this time… Something just felt so off.

Blue eyes narrowed as she gazed down into the well's depths as she contemplated going back to Kaede's village and asking Inuyasha to accompany her back to her time- just as a precaution.

After taking several minutes to weigh the options, she eventually decided against it. After all, she was already there and the trek back to the village would bleed into the few hours of remaining daylight.

"What am I overreacting for?" Kagome grumbled to herself, scooting her weight a bit further to prepare herself for the drop down the well. She shook her head and sighed. "C'mon, you're being silly," she muttered a bit softer, lecturing herself with a huff. A second later, she moved forward and let her weight plunge into the well's abyss as a familiar glow swallowed her up.

What was familiar soon turned into anything but as that soft blue glow shifted into a pale yellow shade. Her free-falling form felt as if it'd fallen into suspended animation as she just hung in the space between times. Darkness hung around her on every side, for as far as she could see. That yellow glow provided only a short scope of vision for her through the blackness.

Her breathing turned labored in a panic when even the familiar things she could sense began to fade away, leaving her in a state of unfamiliarity.

"Kagome, welcome to my domain located far beyond both time and space."

The sound of a voice unfamiliar to her made her fall still. Though it seemed to come from all sides, she tried to pinpoint the exact location to no avail.

"It is well that thou art here," that same voice continued, as if unperturbed by her discomfort and unease. "I am that which humans call "Arceus."

"What do you want with me?" It took a few seconds on her part, but she soon found her voice once more, willing herself to call out to the faceless voice. Though she was uncertain if she'd get a response or not.

"An inquisitive spirit shines through, even though thou are hesitant." It was far from an answer to her question, but, before she could manage to say something else, she found herself struck with silence. "Soon thou shalt find thyself in a world strange to thee…- A world inhabited by wondrous creatures that humans call "Pokemon."

Those words only resulted in more confusion for her. She opened her mouth to ask, but no words would form. From around her neck, the string her portion of the jewel rested on began to unravel. She realized a moment too late, glancing down quick enough to catch the glimmer of pink falling away from her. In a panic, she desperately tried to reach for it.

"No wait!" Kagome exclaimed. "That can't-!"

A spark of light flared up around her before it spiraled away. More followed after the first, all heading in the same direction. A harsh burst of apparent divine energy burned along her senses, and a split second later, a massive inhuman figure lit up the darkness before her.

She couldn't identify any features, the bright lights doing little to illuminate more than its silhouette. Despite that, for some reason, she couldn't help but feel at ease in its presence.

Her gaze drifted back down to the jewel, watching as the jewel fragment began to glow a bright golden hue. The jewel grew further and further away from her, seeming to be drawn to the figure before her.

"Kagome."

Her attention was lifted from the jewel and up to what she could only presume was the being's face.

"Seek out all Pokemon, and thou shalt find me once more."

She felt as though she only had more questions than answers at that point. Her eyelids felt heavy, and black spots began to prick in the corners of her vision. Nothing more than an incoherent mumble came from her as consciousness faded from her entirely.

Auroua-chan: Gonna end this here. In the next update, Kagome will have her first run-in with Laventon and three mischievous little Pokemon who'll take quite a liking to her.
