Final Chapter
-" Let me show you out back; I think you love the lake. It is not a McGarrett's backyard beach, and she smirks,
-" It's beautiful, Cath. Any fish out there?
-"Yeah, and some are pretty big.
-" I am definitely going to want to fish. He turned to her, and I miss you so much, Cath. I am sorry I went with Lynn. I hope you can forgive me someday.
-" I miss you too, Steve. Have you broken up with her?
-"That's part of the reason I want to go back; I thought I better do it in person, or otherwise she would go crazy than usual.
-"You are a good man, and you are right. I promise I do it first thing.
-" I trust you, and they stayed out back on the deck for a while. I go ahead and order the pizza. They watch a show on TV, but neither one is paying any attention. They both were feeling the heat, and all the beers & wine weren't helping them to remain apart.
-"Steve was getting aroused because Catherine had her hand down his pants inside his boxer, and it was driving him crazy. Cath, you are killing me, and you know I can't control myself when you do that.
-" I know, and we should wait until you break up with Lynn.
-" They decided to head for bed. Good night, Lieutenant, and he kisses her and hugs her tight; good night, Commander. she goes to her room, and they are both thinking about one another.
-" Two days had passed, and Steve was on his flight home. It was hard leaving her, but I knew he would be back soon. He texted Lynn and said he would meet her at her house around 1. She was beyond giddy because she felt like she was important because he was coming to see her before anyone else. She decided to wear something sexy and see-through.
-" Hey Lynn, he looked at her and what she was wearing. Lynn, please cover yourself he said with a serious face.
-" Okay, Steve, she went and got a robe.
-" Lynn, look, I am sorry if I led you on, but I will not be seeing you anymore.
-"What, why? She looked at him with a what the hell face.
-" I don't want to hurt you, but nothing would ever come between us. It's me and not you. I know I am a jerk and should have been honest with you.
-"Steve, where is this coming from? We had fun together. You took me to that fancy restaurant because I was upset over finding the ring.
-"I was just going through the motion. I lied to you. I never got rid of that ring; I still have it. Look, I don't want to prolong this, but please don't try to call, text, or come to my house or job because you and I will never happen. Find someone that will make you happy because it's not me and leave to her yelling you bastard, and it won't end like this.
-" She picks up the phone and calls Melissa. Crying and yelling.
-"Lynn, slow down. What happens?
-"Steve just dumped me. In so many words, I was just a rebound.
-"Wait, I thought Steve was out of town on a mission.
-" He was and just got back. Did Danny say anything? No, he didn't. Can you ask him for me?
-"I will, and I come over now.
-"Steve head to HQ.
-"Well, look who's back. I thought you would be gone longer.
-" I had planned to, but I need to come to get some more clothes and take care of another matter. He wasn't one to discuss his personal life, but he had a feeling they would find out since Melissa was friends with Lynn. I want you all to know I just ended whatever I had with Lynn. I feel like a jerk because I should have done this long ago. I didn't because of pride and not wanting to make everyone feel sorry for me. I never love Lynn and nothing was ever going to come of that. I am leaving tomorrow and heading back to DC to help Catherine recover and hopefully get out of the CIA. -"Danny follows. Just so you know, Melissa just called me to ask if I knew why you broke up with Lynn. Danny doesn't get in the middle; just stay out of it. Don't mess up your and Melissa's relationship over this. I am not, and if I am being truthful, I still have feelings for Rachel. Really, don't look so smug, the heart wants what it wants, and they both laugh. Okay, buddy, let me get some paperwork done before I leave. Tell Catherine I am sorry and put a ring on it this time Steven and he leaves. Steve shook his head and had no idea the storm was brewing with Lynn.
-"Hey Melissa, did Danny tell you anything? No, he didn't. I don't know what happens
-" Whatever it was, it happened on that mission.
-" Melissa asked how can we find out because you know the government doesn't advertise such things.
-"Lynn said maybe I could find someone who works in the government I could convince them to get me the information.
-"How are you going to do that?
-" I know some of the officers hang out at the Hilton. I saw them there a couple of times. Let's go to the Hilton and see if we can pick the right guy to get us the info.
-" You sure about this? Maybe you should let Steve go. You told me he never spent time with you, called you her name the couple of times you had sex, and was drunk all the time.
-" I know, but Steve is a catch, and I can put up with anything to be with him.
-"Okay, let go. They go to the Hilton, and sure enough, some officers were in uniform. They had already looked up to see which one had a high ranking. There was a captain there, so they made him their target.
-" He was at the bar, and she pretends to bump into him accidentally. Oh, I am sorry.
-"He looked at her, not bad looking. It is okay and what are you drinking?
-" Chardonnay and I are sitting at that table with my friendship, and she points to Melissa.
-"I need a drink refill another glass of chardonnay wine. I take care of the tab said the Captain.

-"I am in charge of mission planning at the base.
-"Oh, so you're sending the guys out for a mission.

-" No problem, we understand. Lynn thought he might have some text on his phone, but it was probably locked. She needs to get him drunk and for him to unlock his phone. They had several more drinks, and she asked if you have any pics of you off duty?
-" I do so he unlocks his phone, and at that time, Melissa spills her drink on him. I am so sorry I must be tipsy.
-"He said let me go to the bathroom and clean up and forgot his phone.
-" Once he left, they strolled through his text message and found the one they sought. One he sent to Commander Steve McGarrett and Officer Rollins to see how the mission was going. I don't fucking believe it, that bitch was with him on that mission. That's why he broke up with me?
-" Lynn, calm down. We are in a bar. Let go, Melissa.
-" They left, and when the Captain returned, they were gone. He grabbed his phone and took an Uber back to the base.
-" Lynn said in the car; after everything she did to him, he went back to her. Danny said they had been together a long time. I don't give a damn about that. He went with me, and he not going back to her if I can help it. What are you going to do? I am going to play dirty and get him back. How are you going to do that? I have no idea, and you better not say jack shit to Danny. You know he knew she was on that mission but kept it from you also. You're right, and he has been acting funny lately also. I wouldn't be surprised if he were back with his ex again. Some asshole they are not able to let go of their ex after fucking us. Right. Melissa stayed at Lynn's house; they were tipsy but not drunk but decided to get some sleep before Lynn devised a plan.
-"Steve left the next morning and was back at Cath's house by the evening. Hey, you didn't mess around. I got enough clothes, and I broke up with Lynn. How did it not go well? She is nuts, but it's over. We can be together now. I hope so, Steve, that's all I want. My contact called, and I got a meeting with the director on Monday. I need to have all my I dotted, and T crossed. I go over it with you. I think I should be there to tell her what really went down. Yeah, that will help. Catherine wrote everything down and had her back up with the proof. If the director didn't sanction the blackmail then she would be home free. Some of the folks in the CIA still like to do things dirty to get what they want. They hope the Director was a straight shooter.
-"I think we are good, Cath; we just have to wait till Monday. You want me to cook dinner. No, I do need your help. I am still one arm, and I want to cook my grandmother's ragu. It is my comfort food. Yes, I remember, and I miss it. He helped her cook, and they had dinner and a couple of glasses of wine. Catherine wasn't sure if that was what made her jump in his lap and kiss him. She had missed his beautiful eyes and dimple chin, and her hand wandered south. Catherine, you are doing it again. Don't start something, Rollins, if you don't want me to finish it. She purred in his ear, but I do want you to finish, sailor. That was all he needed; he picked her up and took her to her bedroom.
-" She had a king bed. He laid her down, I have missed this and dream about being with you again. You complete me, and he rips that t-shirt off her and her shorts and panties in one mood. He stood p and his t-shirt was gone along with cargo and boxer. They both were naked, and Steve didn't waste any time doing what he had missed doing with her. They made love all night long. The next morning, he woke up with kissing on her breast, and she moaned. Good morning, Lieutenant. Good morning, Commander. Didn't you get enough last night? No, never of you. I see you still got it she said with a sexy smile. You better believe it but only because it is you. -"They lay there a couple more minutes holding one another and how everything felt right in the world. He was at peace.
-" In the meantime, Lynn finally had an idea she shared with Melissa. This is what I am going to do. I am going to fake that I am pregnant. Steve will never desert his child and want us to raise it together. How are you going to do that? You are not pregnant. I know I am not, but he doesn't know that. I have a friend who works in an office that will help me. You know he will want to do his own DNA. Yeah, but he wants to be able to do it until I am father alone, and by that time, I find a way to get him to get me pregnant. I will pretend that I don't want him to find out but leak it so he will find out. This is where you come in. You going to tell Danny, and he will tell Steve. I will look like I am doing the right thing, and since he broke up with me, she doesn't want to disrupt his life.
-"I can get my friend, the Dr. to do everything I need to sell it. Are you sure, Lynn? Steve is pretty smart. -"Steve and Catherine met with the Director. They told her what was happening and the proof. Steve also told her exactly what happened. The director listened and said I had no idea why you joined the CIA. I had heard of you and how good you were at your job in the Navy. You were the type of person we needed. I assure you we do not blackmail people in to joining. That stopped years ago. The agent will be dealt with, and you will be released of your contract effect immediately, and no harm will come to you or the commander of Five-O. You have my deepest apology. You are paid two years of salary for your discretion and all you have been put through this. Now go live your life, and I expect to hear you two are happy married with the kids. Thank you, ma'am. -" He sent a text to the team saying he was coming home tomorrow with Catherine. She was no longer in the CIA. He received congratulations back from everyone. Melissa was at Danny when he got the text. What with the happy face? Steve is coming home tomorrow. Yes, and he is coming with Catherine. Look, Melissa, I know you are friends with Lynn, but the truth is Steve told me a year ago he wanted to break up with Lynn and that she wasn't for him. He only kept it going so I wouldn't nag him to death. I am sorry it didn't work out for them, but Lynn needs to move on. He still loves Catherine. -"They arrived back the next evening, but Catherine had a weird look on her face. What is Cath? Steve, don't hate me, but I can't go to your house yet. Why not? Type the report with all Lynn's information and delete everything from the system. He knew Five-O wouldn't question the report bec they had used him before on cases, and he always came through for him. Also, they didn't know he was friends with Lynn. They met and dated a few years ago, but it didn't work out. They kept in touch with one another every now and then. When she called him asking for a favor, saying the Commander had used her and was now going back to his ex and he mistreated her. He felt sorry for her, not knowing everything she did, and said he would help her.

I remember you talking about him, how great he was, and helping you all on cases. Lynn doesn't know him. She is a mess and can't think straight. She hasn't been with anyone but Steve. She doesn't want him to know and will move to the mainland. She knows he is happy with Catherine and doesn't want to destroy that. She really is a great person. She loves Steve but won't chase after him anymore or force him to be with her. You can't tell Steve; she doesn't want him to know. I got go, and she leaves with a smile on her face. She texted Lynn it was done.
-"Danny makes a beeline to Steve's office. What's wrong with you? I could see you and Melissa having a deep conversation. Steve, you have to promise me that you won't go all super seal on me. What the hell are you talking about, Danny? Melissa just told me Lynn is pregnant. So what has that got to do with me? She says the child is yours but doesn't want you to know because you are back with Catherine. She is considering leaving and going to the mainland and wants to run into you. She doesn't want to cause you any more trouble. She has a child to care for now, and that comes first. Steve had the look of I don't believe it. What Dr. did she see? Melissa took her to the Dr. we use several times for Five-O. She remembers me talking about how he helped us on several cases and that he was a good guy. Apparently, Lynn was so distraught she couldn't think straight about what Dr to use.

Did you perform a pregnancy test on Lynn Downey? You know I can't release personal information. I am not asking for anything personal about her. I need to know if I am the father. Since we go way back, I am sure this will be okay. Lynn is pregnant and is not far along for me to tell who the father is. She is high-risk, so it will be at least a couple more weeks before I can do a DNA. That's all I can tell you, Commander. Okay, thanks, Dr.
-"Steve's head was spinning. This couldn't be true. He already knew he wouldn't marry Lynn but take responsibility for his child. He went to her house. Hey, come in, Steve. I guess Danny told you. Yes, he did. Look, I don't want to upset your life, so I am going to move to the mainland, she fake crying. She hoped he would say he would marry her. Look, Lynn, I want to shulk my responsibility as a father, but I can't marry you. She almost lost it but continued to fake crying. I didn't ask you to marry me. -" He watches her leave, go to the bathroom, get a container with a lid and scoop up her pee. He could tell he was doing it. He made a beeline to Max. Hey Max, here is the sample I need for you to test. How long will it take? Give me about two minutes, Commander. I've never seen you so uptight, Commander, and all these pregnancy questions. Max, just trust me; I think someone is trying to pull a fast one over on me. You are the only Dr. I trust completely. Why don't you go sit out here while I do the test?
