Feats of Earth's Third Strongest Human- Yamcha (Strength, Durability, speed, technique)
-Yamcha was Goku's first serious opponent on Dragon Ball, and while the latter was not at full force for being in a hungry state, the self-taught desert bandit was still able to hit him hard enough to send the Monkey tailed boy flying through three rock columns in the desert.
-Lifted a big stone pillar from Pilaf's destroyed castle debris with mid-effort (That was destroyed by Great ape Goku) so Bulma could get out from under it, saving her life.
-Using his Martial arts skills to easily cut and craft from the debris a solid detailed scimitar out of it with his bare hands in seconds, to bravely face Goku as a great ape in an attempt to cut his tail, before switching to Puar.
-Everyone knows how dangerous nature can be, but most of Yamcha's training before Roshi (In Dragonball) was mostly self-taught and he spends it in the wilderness such as forests or deserts, and remember, in the world of DB they had dinosaurs who were still a threat to fighters who didn't have huge power levels or Saiyan biology.
-Learned the Kamehameha that took Roshi 50 years to make. Not as fast as geniuses like Goku or Tien but that's probably because the master of Turtle school himself had a harder time creating a technique from scratch, that's the difficult part.
-Even with a broken leg, Yamcha managed to hold his own in a fight against the killer of Krillin and offspring of King Piccolo, Tambourine long enough for it to go away rather than being one-shotted.
-Yamcha's Spirit Ball was his very first original energy and signature attack to be invented through DB that could be controlled, without him having to learn it from someone else. Such as the Dodon-Ray, Tri-Beam, and Kamehameha being ki techniques whose knowledge was passed down by masters like Roshi and Shen.
-Has trained with weighted clothing the same as Goku's which weighed 250 pounds (113Kg) Same as the Heavy turtle Shell Roshi makes his students use for advanced training.
-Has faced many strong foes in the tournament of martial arts in which ended in his defeat, only because they were way above his grade in power and experience such as Master Roshi (The 300 years old master), Tien (The three-eyed prodigy), and Kami (Earth guardian deity) But has shown to good potential, and hold his own very well, never given up by trying again, even being praised by Kami himself in their fight.
-Easily outran a car on foot, which was going at 200Km (or 125 Mph) together with the other humans after the end of King Piccolo saga, looking for Korin tower.
-Yamcha is one of the highly-trained ki-user humans who can reach superhuman speeds, easily catching bullets at point-blank range. Learning the fly technique from crane school, he can reach a speed faster than sound at later arcs.
-Even though Yamcha is human, together with his friends they have run snake way faster than Goku according to King Kai and all at the same time.
-Has Trained with great masters like Master Roshi, Korin, (Probably offscreen after the King Piccolo Saga with the others who were talking about going there) Kami's lookout in high altitudes, and King Kai in a ten times gravity planet, each of those masters being considered a big deal at the time.
-At the start of DBZ's very first episodes Yamcha is seemingly bored in his baseball career after Piccolo's reincarnation was beaten by Goku, ending up getting excited by the simplest of scuffles with rival baseball teams. That shows that Yamcha doesn't take his previous losses as a reason to not love and keep practicing Martial arts, but the peace and lack of treats has softened up everyone (Except Goku and Piccolo)
*Power Level*
This is where Power levels come now, there is also the name of the sources listed. Ask any questions you want later.
Even though Yamcha has lost by lowering his guard (or because Toriyama really wanted someone to die first), the scar-faced warrior was able to easily defeat a Saibamen in Combat, making it have to self-destruct as its last option. The plant Alien had a power level of 1,200 (Vol. 18, #215) imagine all that blowing up on you.
-Before the Saiyan saga took off with plenty of revelations about Goku origins; Yamcha who doesn't seem to be training a lot, had a power level of 177 (Vol. 18, #209) but we all know that power levels can increase when you're charging up an attack or not taking it seriously from the get-go. After Training with Kami for the Saiyans arrival he got an amazing growth, getting a power level of 1,480 (Daizenshuu 7) That is the kind of power that would Humiliate anyone back at DB, only twenty away from Raditz level who humiliated Goku and Piccolo at the start of Z who were fighting him together and had a win only because the Saiyan had underestimated his foes and Goku ended up dying.
There isn't concrete information about Yamcha's power level after the Frieza saga while he trained with King kai. So from now on it is only speculation, theories, and calculations. Goku without his weights while charging a Kamehameha at the start of Dragonball Z (the fight against Raditz), had a power level of 924 (Vol. 17, #201) Thanks to his Saiyan Biology he has an easier time learning techniques and grows stronger be it with zenkai or not. His time spent with King Kai was From May 29th through to November 3rd, Age 762. Close to five months.
Goku spent his time doing all sorts of things like getting used to the Gravity (10G) Of King Kai planet while wearing his weighted clothing, focusing on learning everything such as the Kaioken and Spirit Bomb. Which BY the end gave him a power level of Over 8,000 in base form, able to raise it more with Kaioken.
However, Yamcha time was from December 18th, Age 762, through to May 3rd, Age 763 with King Kai. And while you can see a difference (two weeks) in which Goku seemingly seems to have stayed longer, since Toriyama didn't seem to give Kaioken or spirit bomb to any of the humans who trained there (or he was lazy). We can say that neither of them could have learned it or they wished to just focus on their own type of training, and the advantage that Yamcha had there was that he had Tienshinhan (Who is stronger than him) and Chiaotzu (Has interesting esper skills) as sparring partners to be used to train over the months and get used to the gravity.
And we all know that they were determined to grow stronger more than anything at the time and is not too weird to think about Yamcha's growth in strength so quickly when we compare 177 to 1,480 of power. We may not have numbers but we have feats.
-Defeated Recoome. Most people don't take this seriously because they think of it as being filler, in my opinion, if it's not in a video game or movie, or collides with the timeline story then it's ok. After all, Filler in Dragonball Z animation is just something you use to stall for time since the manga was catching up to the anime. Try seeing this as just...extra content. I like to think that those who enter the afterlife but are EVIL! And somehow still have their bodies are somehow Nerfed, since letting powerful evil beings with their full power would be stupid, look at Frieza and his Cacoon for example. Defeating a suppressed Reecome is still impressive since he was the one that beat the living shit out of Vegeta after the guy got like...two Zenkais.
-Got a hole the size of a basketball on his chest while having his energy drained by and survived long enough to take a senzu bean from his friend Krillin, something that would instantly kill any normal human, I mean geez!
-For someone who only had experience in ten times Gravity, Yamcha has shown to be able to stand even higher levels. When going into the Gravity chamber and cranking it up to 300G instead of ending up into a bloody pulp on the floor because of that miscalculation, he survived long enough to move and turn it off. Sure it was reckless and rather stupid but you can't argue with that durability.
Yamcha weighs a total of sixty-eight Kilograms, now this is how much he weighed when in King Kai and the gravity chamber.
68 Kilos plus 10 G= 680 Kilos
68 Kilos plus 300G= 20400 Kilos
Try imagining your body suddenly gaining all that weight as gravity pushes you down, to the point where even moving your fingertips for the simplest of movements is so strainful that you feel like the literal weight of the world is crushing you. There is a difference between being strong to lift a great deal of weight and actually feel the weight around you, Yamcha may be quite reckless, but his untapped potential is the real deal.
*Result*
Yamcha trained with Kami at a power level of 177 and in the Saiyan saga he got the power of 1480, training with King Kai and having Tienshinhan and Chiaotzu as sparring partners with a difference of two weeks from Goku time, but mainly focused on the training itself rather then Kaioken or Spirit Bomb. Yamcha seems to be more relaxed at the moment of Frieza's arrival to earth but it's not sure if he slips up on his training or not, he didn't really know what to do for the three years of training for the androids because he even went through a normal Gym rather then training with Goku.
But if I suddenly heard that I only had three years before some androids came to kill me, I would train as much as possible even if the result was small. Calculating all the past experiences of Martial arts of Yamcha and his masters such as Roshi, Popo (Kami didn't teach much now that I think), and King Kai. Yamcha could be stuck between wanting to try really hard but not knowing how to do so.
Now you gotta be asking, how much is YAMCHA'S power Level? Well...by that I want to compare Krillin's power level first. At the Saiyan Saga Krillin power was 1770, but when Guru unlocked his potential, by the end of Namek Saga Krillin had a whooping power of 75,000 (V-Jump) without having to train, he just sort of was letting his body get used to it, at the start when fighting the Ginyu force it was 13,000 so maybe it was a matter of time and adaptation.
While not as skilled as the big bad guys or the main character (even before super saiyan) Yamcha is martial artist of notable skill even before he trained with Master Roshi and King Kai. In terms of skill, Yamcha is undeniably one of the best human fighters in the world, unfortunately for Yamcha, he scarcely had opportunity to show his power, as he has a history of succumbing to surprise attacks from characters close to his level or far stronger than him. That's why he has an unfortunate lack of his own feats going into the more powerful fights in the series. That said, we can (with a bit of logic on our part) scale him far beyond his Saiyan Saga feats by way of Dr Gero confusing Yamcha's suppressed energy level for what Gero's data made him believe to be Goku's max power. The last time Gero was able to collect data on Goku's power was during Goku's first fight with Vegeta. We know that as your power level increases, all of your stats do as well. That's why typically, a character numerically quantified to be more powerful is drastically faster than a weaker one.
Since we have a hierarchy of power, Yamcha is always the third strongest human. I gotta say that every fact and a hint of Yamcha's effort to keep trying must be giving him something to...a Power Level of 65,000. Yamcha didn't really get his potential unlocked, so he had to train as much as possible in his way, and even though humans don't grow as fast as Saiyans, they still grow...slowly but surely, they weren't trained by so many masters for nothing. This level is not too big or too small, perfect for someone who is somewhat stuck but satisfying. This is my speculation at how strong CELL SAGA Yamcha is.
Start of DBZ (Before Kamis Training): 177
Saiyan Saga (After Kamis training): 1480
Frieza Saga (King kai Training in 10G plus sparring partners for months): 45,000
Android Saga (3 Years worth of Training with an imminent threat coming but not quite sure how to break the limit any further): 65,000
