A\N: Quick Authors note before we start the chapter guys. It's gonna be a quick promise.
A time chamber is a place where the temperature of cold and heat fluctuates, the gravity is ten times higher and the air pressure is a quarter of the earth. While Yamcha is used to gravity and training in such a high place as the lookout before in the Saiyan saga, training there for one year is still quite a challenge. The thing is, he didn't do some heavy-duty training like Vegeta on the androids saga. On Said saga he didn't know what path to take to grow stronger, so since we are dealing with a human who goes through effort rather than having plot armor I gave him different tools like...
Yoga and Qigong. Which are similar yet different methods that can help a martial artist to great lengths, because they focus on important aspects such as Focus, Breathing, flexibility, and strengthening the body with the balance between body and mind. It takes patience to perfect it and determination. The entirety of Yamcha's training was focused on just that, control. No matter how much control of your ki you think you have, it's never enough. In that room, he trained how to use the sword, the Hamon breathing, the Nadashinkga-Ryu style, and meditation. Every technique needs control, like a flowing river rather than an exploding volcano. And since he had the information plus the Cap that improved his flow of thinking, he became stronger much faster, not in raw power but a great deal of control.
I'm a Yamcha fan but I am not giving huge leaps in power without a good reason, he is not a Saiyan neither did he get the potential to unlock, so even though he is not the main character or a genius like Tien who learned the Kamehameha by just looking, I can say that his training in mastering what was given to him so far has changed his power considerably. Remember guys, Krillin Destructo Disc was powerful enough that if it hit Nappa I'm sure it would have killed him since Vegeta noticed and warned him, the bald monk was not as strong as Nappa but that move was brilliant. Brawn and brain, work better together.
After the traumatizing experience from the spicy pepper eating challenge, the time had passed by in peace, and with it, one of the best holidays arrived as well, one that can only truly shine at night, that being…
"Halloween!"
The blue cat also known as Puar floated and spun around in joy at one of his favorite holidays coming once more.
"Careful, you're going to end up hitting a random piece of furniture if you keep going like that"
"I can't help it, I love Halloween. All the costumes and decoration...also I can shapeshift into a kid and get myself some candy" Puar said rubbing his hands together like some plot out of an evil genius from a James bond movie.
"Eh? Isn't that just unfair to the people who are too old to go trick or treating?"
"Well now, it's not like a floating magical cat getting candies while disguised as a child is a world-known crime right?"
Puar and Yamcha look over to the source of the voice and they end up seeing Melvin by the window.
"A BURGLAR!" Puar said half-seriously.
"Hey! ….I'm a ninja thank you very much" Melvin said, he was wearing a ninja costume, the classic black full body.
"Your back huh? Should I be surprised you chose this holiday for it?" Yamcha asked.
"Hmm...You look great in that Terry Bogard costume" Melvin pointed out.
"Terry who? These are just new clothes I bought for me, what are you talking about?" Yamcha asked, looking to himself and back to Melvin.
"Oh...Never mind then, it's a nice set anyway" Melvin talks it off before he could ask more "Did you miss me?"
"Miss the guy who made me never want to eat pepper again, even the non spicy types? ...Yeah, I missed you so much" Yamcha rolls his eyes.
"Aww you warm my heart, also nice decoration here, this holiday about candy is awesome, but the pumpkins spooky smiles are a bit crooked"
"Hey, it's hard to hold a knife with these paws" Puar pouted.
"It's not just about candy...or is it? Anyway! Let's cut the small talk, you're here for another challenge right? On top of a holiday even"
"Doing this on holidays makes it double special, besides what would be of you without my challenges? They are better than any workout" Melvin bumped his staff on his shoulder, trying to make a point while grinning.
"Hmph! I know I have been searching on the internet for some new techniques I can do...physically since ki-based moves are not really widespread" Yamcha sighs "But still! I got some interesting findings"
"Ain't that nice? But our special bonding time has given you nice toys huh?"
Yamcha remembers breaking one or two plates and putting on that chest from the pepper challenge, then one minute later they were reformed.
"At least that for my suffering"
"Wait! You're throwing Yamcha is one of those dangerous challenges again?" Puar asked.
"The path to power is always dangerous, but look, he is not eating peppers again so calm your fur"
"No way! This time I'm staying here to see, I'm part of it now" Puar crossed his little arms together.
"Tch! You're gonna let go of the chance to get free candy? Hmph! Looks like I underestimated your will cat" Melvin being a fan of sugary treats said.
"You don't need to worry Puar, I went through quite a few of his tests and I'm fine 'Besides the dislocated shoulder and stomach cramp those times' "
"I made my decision. Will stay here and I'm gonna cheer you on no matter what"
"Great! Good thing I brought snicker bars! Can't stay the night of Halloween without these" Melvin said bringing a paper bag.
"Whoa...are you gonna share them?" Puar asked.
"Meh, why not? I don't want to look like a childish person who can't share candy"
"Nice!" Puar said, clenching his fist with determination.
"Can we proceed? I'm starting to get a little impatient here" Yamcha said, clapping his feet on the floor.
"Yeah sure, just go outside and I meet you there in a moment" Melvin pointed to the door.
Going towards the door without thinking Much, the moment Yamcha opens and walks towards it, everything changes even before his brain could warn the rest of the body of what just happened.
"Wait...what?" When Yamcha turned around the door had disappeared.
The landscape around had changed and could be easily seen as an urban cityscape, tall skyscrapers reached the sky, the surrounding had the look of a post-apocalyptic modern downtown district. Everything was abandoned but a few old cars of unknown models. Moss, grass and a plenitude of vegetation grew as if nature itself was taking back the paved roads and the concrete constructions humanity had made. It was morning but the sky had this weird twilight the color as if the sun was about to go down, but the luminous orange giant was still far from that. What a peculiar vibe it was giving to him.
"Geez. Ok, be honest with me. How do you make this? It's like I'm in a totally new place" He asked who he knows is watching.
Out of nowhere a blue glowing twink of light shows up in front of Yamcha like it was a roaming star and it starts talking.
"Who knows? Perhaps you are in a different dimension where this planet earth was destroyed and I brought you here through a wormhole. Maybe all this is just a really well-detailed illusion, maybe I created it all while you were busy, in the end, I leave it to your own imagination" Melvin said with an air of mystery.
"Whoa! I didn't even see it happening, this is crazy '' Puar's voice came from the other side.
"Hey! Hey! No pushing" Melvin shouted.
"And exactly what I am supposed to do here?" Yamcha asks.
"Follow the signs buddy"
The human turned around only to see a bunch of very comical-like signs glowing around like it was las Vegas, pointing in the direction he should be going. With a tired sigh, he just went forward and started doing a small run while paying attention to his surroundings. This uncertain road brings him to what seemed to be an abandoned supermarket but in amazingly well-conserved conditions. The glass was covered by cardboard on the inside, the entrance barricaded and the surroundings with lots of foliage such as grass and vines, on the floor and walls.
"Wait what is this? It looks like an abandoned supermarket"
"This is your destination, it's pretty simple really, all you gotta do is protect that building and not let anything get inside" The twinkie answers.
"Seems easy," Puar said.
"And what exactly is trying to get inside-"
Yamcha words were cut as out of the blue the surroundings were starting to get covered by a thin layer of mist which was increasing in density until its white and mysterious presence covered everything, except for the area that the supermarket was a part of, almost like an arena meant to watch and expectate.
"Monsters"
"Wait what?" Puar said, shocked.
When hearing that the former Bandit looks to be surprised at what he had said, what did he mean by monsters? Was that always there? Going through big dangerous challenges is ok and all, but you need something that can fight back, every battle is a new lesson I'm sure of it. But don't think it's gonna be a wash, your power has been diminished" Melvin said.
"Wait...Monsters!? Why am I hearing that only now? No, wait! Diminished? Why are you doing that again?" Yamcha asked.
"That's unfair!" Puar was getting angry.
"No it's not, and stop screaming next to my ear" Melvin cleans his throat "Listen, your level is too high of course. I could bring something just as strong but don't worry, your above one hundred in power level if that's what you want to ask, but I won't say how much high it goes though so keep your toes up"
'This guy...he just keeps throwing me in these places without telling me what is going to happen, always with the mystery bullshit' Yamcha sighs internally, this was basically part of his life now.
Turning around to the front and watching as the mist seems to grow, Yamcha hardens his fighting position waiting for whatever may come out of it. It didn't take too long, however, as the sound of something metallic could be heard, almost like it was being dragged in such a way on purpose to give an eerie feeling. However, this time the former bandit could sense some energy coming from the mist. The thing is...Yamcha felt this ki signature to be quite odd, it felt ominous and distorted. Sensing inner energy does not allow you to know everything like reading the mind but this was palpable in some cases like emotions, there was a sensation of killing intent brewing in the air like that of a wild beast wanting to hunt its prey.
'The energy doesn't feel threateningly high, but this evil intent...what is it?'' Yamcha thought, feeling the bloodlust.
However, there is not much time to think though, as two shadows loom over the wall of dense mist menacingly, just standing there before taking a few steps forward, was it for dramatic effect? Who knows. Saying that he was surprised doesn't even begin to showcase the reaction at what Yamcha was seeing afterward.
The first figure that came out was a pale and very muscular man whose body was covered in a white robe reminiscent of a butcher's smock, soaked with a red liquid, he didn't want to think it was blood but...it probably was. But that was not the weirdest feature, oh not even close! On its head was a large and heavy red triangular helmet, it seemed to be too big to be practical, no! It would most definitely hurt to use something like that as a helmet.
In his left hand was a humongous single-edged sharp weapon that seemed to be an oversized kitchen knife, seemingly sharpened up that if one swung it at full force it would cut through anything too unlucky to cross its path. The other one was just as weird looking as the previous, it's like he came out of some slasher movie. A large-built and tall humanoid clad in butcher clothes as well, but complete with big rubber boots, gloves, and an apron. His headgear was...a safe? An odd metal basket is worn on the back as his weapon in charge seems to be a large meat tenderizer hammer adorning a large spike on the opposite side.
"Uwah! They look so scary, are they even human?" Puar's voice could be heard.
"What. The. Fuck?"
Even not being one to swear much, this was just too creepy. The two figures of odd appearance have locked their attention on him now, showing their clear desire to inflict a world of pain towards the hunting of their prey.
"Crap looks like there is no time for conversation"
One moment Later the former bandit only had time to remove the Niuweidao from his back before the dude with a pyramid for a head rushed towards him with such speed one would not even think he was wearing and wielding such heavy objects. The first thing it did was raise its huge knife and go for a heavy downward slash, Yamcha defended himself by blocking it with his curved sword, holding tightly to the handle while the other hand held the blade like it was pushing up. The impact was surprisingly strong and the ground gave in a little by the brute strength.
"Hmph! Looks like you're not a pushover huh? Sadly for you"
The black-haired swordsman repels the attacker who gets pushed by the strong human before said man quickly backs away, dodging then a hammer from hitting against his face from the other one with a safe for ahead.
"Neither I am"
Yamcha kept on parrying and dodging the attacks from the two creatures, showing his concentration and skill while wielding the Niuweidao. Puar watched a bit stunned at how his friend seemed to display such skill with the sword even in the face of those things, just looking at it made him shiver. But, watching the sword brought back memories of how he once utilized a weapon similar to what it said back in the day when they lived in the desert and lived life as bandits.
Melvin grinned and stated, "Well, looks like the old saying of, once you learned something, it's easy to pick it up again like riding a bicycle!" After saying that he munches on some treats from the bag and offers some of it to Puar who just mechanically took a chocolate bar as he continued to watch.
After dodging/parrying/evading the attacks of the large nightmares turned to flesh, Yamcha realized their pattern, there wasn't much thought to it, they were bloodlusted machines filled with ill intent, so it was time to put an end to it. Putting some distance between those horror-inspired beings, Yamcha closed his eyes and focused. getting into a stance that of the Wolf Fang fist but this time one of his hands had the sword add to it instead.
'Breath. Focus. Be precise'
Usually, his trademark technique was used bare-handed and was quite fast. Now that he was using a blade, Yamcha had to make sure that he didn't accidentally slice or nick himself with it. His body started to be surrounded by a faint blue aura, while the two large monsters just let out their indescribable roars of anger and charged towards him.
When they got close, about three feet or so...Yamcha's eyes snapped open, Whitted out like he just went feral for a split second, and let out his attack "WOLF BLADE PIERCE!"
He traveled at such speed that his arms were blurs, even Tien would have problems keeping up with it even having three eyes. Yamcha's new technique had cut so precisely it managed to slice through the base of the Hammer and knife from the two enemies. He kept going on through, working faster as the sliced fell to the ground in slow motion. The former bandit lets out a warrior cry that was more like the sound of a wolf's howl as the metal implements hit the ground to make a chiming sound. He soon stopped, froze in place perfectly while the two monsters seemed to be shaking slightly...
"Not bad, could use more work''
The moment he sheathes the sword back in, it's like time started to run again as their bodies fell apart, cut up perfectly into slices like meat at a butcher shop. But rather than turning into a bloodbath, their bodies turn to mist, soon dissipating in the air.
"Huh...That's neat and clean!" Yamcha said, impressed.
Puar looked at it amazed, jaw dropped and eyes widened as well. Melvin, however, was pleased and saw how the new technique was learned by his pupil, taking care of business with the frightening creation that many people were scared of. Yamcha rose, wiping some sweat from his brow as he looked at his decimated opponents. He stated "Whew...Looks like it worked out better than I thought, needs more practice though"
He looked to his left arm, the one that did not hold the Niuweidao, and saw that it was covered in a layer of small, thin shallow cuts. All in all, it was not serious but the Desert Bandit knew that he would need to disinfect and bandage the arm later on.
Melvin clapped and exclaimed with delight, "Well Done man, but I wouldn't be relaxing just yet. More surprises are on the way! Better step it up"
Just as Melvin stated that Yamcha heard buzzing and soft footsteps. He stood his ground, ready to face whatever it was that was heading his way. He saw something emerging from the mist, getting into a fighting stance with a face showing determination...And when the figure emerged from the mist, his face went from warrior-like to now having a downright confused one as he beheld the newcomer. The one standing before him was around three feet tall, green skin with a dull orange chest area, large pointed ears of a bat with the membrane being the same color as the chest, amber eyes that were like that of a snake, a white fluffy mohawk hairdo... and a large disturbing grin that was on its face that showed triangular sharp teeth that looked to be able to chew through anything!
It held a dog leash, and attached it to said leash was an insect... but it was too bizarre even by Earth's standards to be considered normal! It looked to be a cross between a fly and a scorpion; it looked to be between two to four feet in length, dull-brown coloring over the exo-skeleton with the bulbous top having a light purple colored sheen, wings that looked to be found on common house flies but bigger, and a scorpion tail that was long and fat, no doubt having a large amount of poison within it.
Yamcha said to himself "Okay, I have seen some pretty freaky things in my life. That includes the two big ones I just defeated. But this... this easily goes into my top ten list of most bizarre things I have seen"
Hearing the human provocation, the first gremlin that had arrived just calmly gave him a wide wicked grin showing its horrible teeth, before slowly raising his hand pointing forward, and with its acidic voice, he croaked the words.
"Fetch!"
When hearing that, all the gremlins almost immediately released their grasp on the leashes that maintained the mutated bugs. And like they were house trained, every single one started flying in the same direction Yamcha was, like moths to a lightbulb. Seeing the swarm of bugs coming his way the human brace himself for impact...but rather than trying to attack him. The insectoids went past him instead, totally ignored to be sure.
"Huh?"
Taking his attention from the gremlins just for a second, Yamcha sees that the Scorpion-flies were landing on the glass window of the one thing he had to protect.
'Oh shit! These things were actually smart enough to come up with a strategy?' The former bandit thought, surprised.
That was not good, if taken too long the glass could be broken and they would get inside. Even though there were more enemies in front of him, Yamcha took the risk to focus on the first, he might not have his full capabilities which are sealed off, but his speed, reflexes available right now plus his truest sword were more than enough to do some quick work. With swift movements, he sliced through the insects...not expecting the colored surprise of purple insect blood and more from those things that splashed around his clothes in Ooze.
"Eww! Oh shit, what the hell? I thought they would turn to mist like the others"
The Gremlins laughed hysterically at the sight, many pointing to him and cackling madly. Some even fell on their backs, legs kicking the air wildly at the site.
"Well you see, those bugs are actually part of this ecosystem rather than a construct from the mist. Those gremlins were just taming them while waiting their turn" Melvin explained.
The Desert Bandit groaned as he wiped the essence off of his being, glaring at the group with so much annoyance that his left eye was twitching slightly now. Puars voice came up with worry telepathically 'Yamcha-Sama! Are you alright?!'
He answered in an annoyed tone "Yeah, I'm alright buddy... but I have a feeling that I'm going to be in the shower for a long time after this 'Second time I get covered in guts' "
The martial artist soon heard Melvin's voice replace his friend's as he cackled, 'Hahaha! Boy, those little buggers sure make me laugh, but there is something I should have mentioned before..."
Yamcha groaned and replied "Oh great, what now?"
The fallen angel answered 'The stingers that those fusion flies had, are filled with a kind of neurotoxin that can cause massive swelling and suffocation within minutes. Fortunately for you, their blood does not contain such a nasty piece of work. So you're safe... for the time being"
Yamcha then looked to the arm that was covered in shallow cuts due to his new sword technique. He could already feel a tingling sensation come in as the blood from the Scorpion-Flies started to seep in. He quickly shook it off, wiping away the ooze as best he could. Like Melvin stated, he got lucky in that the neurotoxins were not in the blood. But he made a mental note to not cut any part of the beast near the stinger.
Melvin added in 'And also, the Gremlins have a wicked sense of humor! So get ready for anything that goes from the range of nasty to just plain freaky! And remember, you have a time limit until the storm hits! So... hop to it! Chop chop!'
The Gremlins soon regained themselves, the one with the fluffy mohawk snapping his fingers. All at once, the Gremlins reached behind their backs...and pulled out multiple various items from nowhere that ranged from common household items like rolling pins and frying pans to golf clubs and baseball bats... to a chainsaw and nail gun! Yamcha's eyes bugged at seeing something that should only be possible in a cartoon or something like that, hearing Puar's choked yell but not paying much attention to him. The one with the mohawk grinned as he held up a handgun that was often used by police officers, grinning evilly at the martial artist.
He weakly stated "You gotta be kidding me..."
The leader of the bunch yelled out raspily "ATTACK!"
And that is when the Gremlins charged in en masse! And to make matters worse, he snapped his fingers...and coming from behind him from the mist came another swarm of Scorpion-Flies! Some of the weapons were just what one would use as a temporary alternative while others would actually be quite dangerous, for any normal human being that is. While said artillery wasn't that dangerous for someone who dealt with the worst, what Yamcha had to worry about was their sheer amount.
They jumped, rolled, and laughed around like a bunch of demonic children high on sugar, and like cockroaches, they were EVERYWHERE! Trying to catch him off guard or something, and if he took too long to just get RID of them, the other things who are on the glass are going to cost him the challenge and the rain would make this much! MUCH! more annoying.
"BACK. THE. FUCK. OFF!"
Having had enough of their laughter, constantly there worse than elevator music, he charged a chunk of ki on his free arm which made it bulge with muscle and cloaked in ki. Before slamming it down so hard it created a shockwave, better than the classic superhero landing trope. The ki-powered shockwave did the trick, causing the Gremlin monsters to halt in their tracks. Those that were close to the martial artists were knocked off their feet, stumbling as they tripped and fell. A few caused a domino effect, falling to the ground and taking others with them as they hit the pavement.
The Scorpion-Flies were also stunned, the shockwave from the yell also causing them to pause in mid-flight. Yamcha saw that his actions caused a break in the chaos, which is what he needed. He thought to himself, 'Okay, bought a little time here! Now think Yamcha, think! Great numbers, many varied weapons in hand, enemies in the air... and all you have us are your martial arts, ki, and a curved sword. So...'
It was then that the Desert Bandit got a hit of inspiration and innovation! He said to himself, "Wait a minute!"
Yamcha then remember one of his signature moves, the Sokidan and how he was able to manipulate it into a kinetic ball of energy that could be controled through his hand gestures and how much concentration it required at first, but now he would need more focus for what he was about to do. The mantook the Niuweidao, closing his eyes and focusing his ki on the whole weapon. The Gremlins managed to recover from the shockwave blast, standing back up and cackling like mad as to get themselves pumped up! However, the cackling soon ceased as they all saw the human now glowing like a lamplight. They all were entranced by this, the Scorpion-Flies too as they were looking at their victim that glowed in a soft golden color with bolts of electricity running around his being.
They were like moths that were attracted by the light, which was actually working to Yamcha's advantage. Said martial artist was combining the principles of his "Sokidan" technique with the curved sword, focusing and concentrating very much. It would have been easier & quicker for him had Melvin not restricted him like so, but he did not complain. His bladed weapon soon was covered in golden light...and floated now in the hand of Yamcha, who was no longer gripping the hilt!
The human smirked and said, "Oh yeah! It's done! Now, for a little test run..." He mentally commanded the sword to move, which it did. The Gremlins and Scorpion-Flies were more entranced as the curved sword seemed to dance in mid-air, hopping like a rabbit before doing slashes that seemed to slice through the very air itself. What they did not know was that Yamcha was testing his new technique... and he got the results on a positive note! Yamcha then used his ki to have the sword spin; slow at first, speed increasing gradually until it now looked like a metal version of Krillin's "Kienzan" move!
He mentally cheered, 'Hahahaha! It worked! Oh man, this opens up new possibilities now!'.
The martial artist then looked to his opponents... and a hungry smirk on his face appeared, like that of a predator who had finally cornered & captured its prey! The Gremlins were confused, the mohawked one snarling as he felt that something was off.
Yamcha chuckled and stated, "Hehe! You all are about to be history. Let me show you my new technique, the "Zangeki seishin: (Slashing Spirit)"
He moved his sword around using the same inner workings from the Sokidan, the spinning buzzsaw projectile going up and down slowly in the air, ready to be unleashed upon its enemies! Curved swords were generally better at cutting because they have a longer surface area of the blade that follows motion and in much more contact with the target. Now that it was cloaked in ki like a second skin, controlled by Yamcha, and as Sharp as an obsidian scalpel, well...it was a massacre. Without holding back, the move flew through the area cutting and slashing everything as a spinning saw of death, destroying weapons and shredding their waves of laughter now with screams of fear.
'Yish! If I didn't know any better he would start looking like the bad guy right about now' Melvin commented.
'I-Its a little violent...BUT! A necessity!' Puar countered.
Managing to get rid of the gremlin's number, the moment the sword comes back to his hand, Yamcha twirls his body around like a spinning top and launches it towards the bugs that were now the new stain on the window, splashed by their doom.
"Who's laughing now?" Yamcha said, allowing himself to be a little confident.
'Great ingenious way of attacking buddy. That hat is doing its job just fine' Melvin said.
"It's not just the hat, I have good ideas too...sometimes" Yamcha looks down kicking some dust.
'Is it over? Will those things stop coming?' Puar asked.
'I can't say if some of the enemies are going to stop or keep coming, but you should know that there is never time to rest'
"Wonder where you take these abominations though, and how long do I have to keep g-''
'Behind you!'
"Oh great! An interruption, loooove those types'' Yamcha grumbled annoyed, before turning around.
Looks like the human wasn't going to have enough time to celebrate bashing some of the gremlins just now, more enemies were going to come out. What menacing figure would yet again come off the mist? The answer to that question was about to come. From the other side, it came alone first of all. A creature who possessed a vaguely humanoid appearance, but that semblance is quickly thrown off and gets more extraterrestrial. Its body was covered by many plates of chitinous like armor that insects may have like an exoskeleton, two arms with prehensile digits look like they were used for locomotion, and down below the beast had sharp claws, that could cut through metal, or at least it gave him that impression.
The plates lining in front of the face extended and contracted to show its fleshy unprotected head and alien-like teeth for a moment before closing. However that was just the start, the beast was being used as a mount for what seemed to be a large armored gladiator-like warrior, what was weird is that his eyes were stitched together. When looking down at Yamcha it suddenly moved his arm showing large and sharp retractable claws that were grafted onto each forearm
Watching this scene fills Yamcha with a bit of disgust and even a tiny bit of fear, mostly because these things' appearances were always so shocking. He telepathically asked Melvin for some sort of tip.
'What is the name of Yemma are those things?!'
With glee, he answered "Oh! I'm glad you asked. I thought this would unnerve you! The one being ridden was called by some unlucky victims of Death angel, which to me is a serious downgrade to me and my kind, I mean Geez! Just because something falls from the sky and you don't know what it is, do you need to associate it with some divine power? Of all the nerve to call that an angel"
Yamcha got into a stance as the ride just stared at him 'I suppose you won't be giving me a freebie about more details?
'Hold your horses human! Ahem...the mount is completely blind, and it hunts through sound. Even the slightest noise sets those ugly SOB's off big time. And their armor is very tough as most conventional weapons can't even pierce through it. But I'm sure you can take care of that pest right?'
The Desert Bandit said to himself 'Let me guess, the ride does that too?'
Melvin answered, 'What gave it away? The lack of eyes? Hahaha. Well, that nasty little bugger from is a real piece of work alright, they kill anything with indiscriminate killing power, so much so that their eyelids had to be stitched together and bound to cages just to try and be controlled
Puar exclaimed 'But how is Yamcha going to fight them if their hearing is that good!? He doesn't have anything to go up against them!'
The little celestial deity stated ' Your lack of faith in the power of an early DB-like scale disturbs me. He already knows the fact they move through sound, just keep being smart and fight like before, don't be a dummy and you be alright"
'WHAT? O-Of course I have faith, I'm just careful that's all'
'Don't worry human, I can guarantee that you're at least stronger than Master Roshi in power level wise when he was still training pupils like you. Let's start with one first'
"Fine, let's see how much game you got. It would be a shame to end things so quickly"
With his sword back in hand and now sheathed on the scabbard, the bandit was going first to see the enemy's combat capabilities before doing anything that required further attention. But just before Yamcha was about to do something to let his enemies attack first, he heard crackling in the background. He looks back and sees that one of the gremlins apparently had survived, the mohawked one was still breathing! Looking back he sees one of the piles of sliced Gremlin corpses... and was surprised to see that the mohawked one survived! It would appear that during the massacre of his brethren, he managed to hide by diving underneath the earth like a mole.
"What?!" Yamcha thought that he had gotten all of them and didn't bother to sense their ki because the guy was distracted in destroying all of them.
The mohawked little imp was snarling at his foe, but for some reason, the Death Angel & its blind rider did not react to the sound he was making, almost like waiting for something. The imp then grinned as he called out "Too late! Too late!"
The martial artists frowned and thought, 'I don't like the way that thing spoke. What did he mean by...?'
He soon got the answer when droplets of water started falling, it started to train as the water came down from the heavens, getting everyone soaked, especially the gremlin. Yamcha looked up to see the Gremlin now boiling, steam rising from where he was hit by the rain... and what looked to be like large pus pods appearing on his being! He was disgusted by this, as was Puar when he heard his friend telepathically.
The shape-shifting cat covered his mouth and exclaimed 'Oooh, that is so nasty! And I have seen many nasty things in my life!'
Melvin added in, 'I honestly can't blame you. I mean, I have been across the vast universe and seen many life forms that would really make you toss your contents from your stomach. And I believe this deserves to be at least #8 in my Top Ten list'
The mohawked Gremlin soon laughed/cackled with evil glee as the pus pods on his being popped, green softball-sized orbs shooting from its being and more coming forth thanks to the rain! This continued until the rain stopped, the strong but brief shower ending in quite the quick burst. However... Yamcha was now stunned to see that a new force of Gremlins was now staring back at him! The orbs that had been shot out from earlier had quickly grown and turned into Gremlins themselves! Although it did not replace the numbers that he massacred just a little while ago, it now had him facing fifteen of the small, crazed, and homicidal beasts with the blind death beings now acting like their commander.
"I am so going to ask Melvin for something more worthwhile than a simple treasure chest..." Yamcha said, trying not to puke.
The situation had turned against what would be more preferable for him, and knowing that those little devils had shown up again, Yamcha realized that the more time he takes to finish things, the more chance for them to do something weird.
"Hey Ugly!"
This time he screamed in a good and audible sound which took the mount and the rider's attention.
"Hah! You looked, I mean you heard it but still counts"
Most societies are made by human beings be it from the past or the future, they are never ready for something they don't understand. A sudden alien invasion with tech and beasts never seen before? A virus that when in contact turns you into something out of a horror movie? It always ends in disaster because the people are too busy screaming in fear and panic while being in the dark of what the hell is happening, they are easily put down.
But if they could just take a breath and analyze they would understand, that everything has a flaw to explore. The quadrupedal alien rushed towards him faster than a car, its predatory instincts taking over and wanting to kill it either for food or sport. Any normal human being would be scared out of their wits to see some sort of alien animal running towards them, with no way to run or hide without being killed, but this one was different.
'Your fast, but in the end? Just a wild and dumb animal'
When its prehensile digits were a few centimeters to reach his throat, the former bandit gracefully sidestepped out of the way like a blur and positioned at the creature's side.
"I am moving too fast for you to hear it?"
Yamcha then puts his energy into jumping high enough to reach the rider, the snapping motion of his lower leg worked like a coil sprain, and then with the acceleration, the attack had initiated unleashing a kick with great impact speed, delivering a Wire Fu Kick, with force equal to four hundred pounds to its chest.
Unable to react at that the rider is tossed aside a few meters away falling and rolling on the ground, the sound of metal that clanged when it was hit on the torso and again when on the ground. By doing that the mound started losing control and began running in circles as if to demonstrate its anger. Yamcha wasn't letting out blood lust or urge to destroy, he was just strong and well versed in fighting so the creature didn't understand what was so dangerous about him and rushed at him much faster this time.
"What's wrong? Can't hear a tweet from anything that you go feral and want to kill it? Cmon on then, try to kill me"
Unable to comprehend a taunt when it sees one, the creature just viciously snarls at its prey and the sound it's making. It goes for the hunt feeling its whereabouts through auditory senses. Its prehensile was like a scythe, used to steal the life of anything it came in contact with by in the end beheading its prey in one clean swoop. But this wasn't the case. One swipe turns into two, then into four, then it just kept going angrily at it, but the attacks were avoided by Yamchas superior speed and footwork.
"That's all, isn't it? Just a big scary bug with sharp elongated arms"
The scar-faced man concentrated and focus on the next move, his arm started to bulge with strength, when he rolled out of the way from his insistent assailant
"Eat this!"
No one could say it by just looking at it from afar or just once, but inside Yamchas body his ki and muscles were generating explosive energy, but his body seemed to move in such a way that it felt like it lacked physical movement, once his first reached the enemy face it carried out the build-up energy that penetrated deep inside the body, ignoring the outer shell armor which was left untouched but receiving a great deal of internal damage instead.
A strike without striking, focusing only on the inside while the outside was completely ignored.
"Hakkei! (explosive/raw power)"
"I was not sure if I could break your armor by punching really hard. But thanks for being my practice dummy, that was a cool move" Yamcha said, feeling proud
Yamcha looked down at his now defeated foe, which was spasming on the ground while giving off a pathetic groan of pain. The martial artist stated, "You look tough, but that's just how a steady mind beats the frenzied any day"
'I mean you're still talking to a beast, it can't really understand you' Melvin chimed in.
'I know that! It was just a thing
The Death Angel gave off one last wail before turning to mist, signifying that it succumbed to the internal injuries that Yamcha delivered. Puar was cheering loudly, the telepathic link open as the scarred Desert Bandit heard him, 'Yay! You got him! You won! You won!'
Melvin stated with pride, 'Good job my lad! Using an explosive internal energy attack like that? Quite remarkable and practical"
Yamcha could feel the smirk on the fallen angel's face as he put in 'Just putting into action what I learned, and I gotta say. Using a move like this made me feel quite crafty
The celestial being replied 'True that. But you better get going, there is still much left to do remember?'
Yamcha turned to see that his mentor was correct; the Garrador was getting back up, and it looked pissed from the way it roared. Combine that with the fifteen Gremlins that were all snarling and ready to attack en masse like before, Yamcha sighed as he got himself ready.
He put in 'Looks like there is no rest for the weary'
Melvin stated 'Not if you want to be the best or to finish a task! So go on boy, defend the supermarket, and await the prize that is inside once you defeated everything!'
Letting his long and rusty metal claws, the Garrador rushed towards Yamcha with some impressive speed and started to violently swing his arms around, granted though for the average human that is. But Yamcha had everything under control. The same thing could be said about the Gremlins, who all charged at one towards him. But the mohawked Gremlin, the leader of the bunch, hung back as it did before.
"You guys already gave me what I needed, now it's time to finish it"
Easily maneuvering itself behind the monster, Yamcha takes a deep breath filling his lungs with air, a golden and sparkling aura surrounding his body. By using the power of ripple, the former bandit combines that with something unexpected when he has done it.
'Hamon Kattā!(Ripple Cutter)'
Yamcha then spits at his opponent, but not as an act of being rude. His saliva was infused with a ripple, the one breathing style that works well with liquids, that one technique made the globs of liquid between his teeth to be launched as sharp and dense little saw blades that were strong enough to cut through solid objects of certain levels.
Lucky for him those claws didn't seem like they were meeting any maintenance so it was a piece of cake for him to cut one or two of the metallic-like fingers that came out. The sound that it made confused the Garrador who didn't understand what happened as the ringing came so close to him rather than a bit further.
''Would you look at that? It worked"
With his elbows tucked behind his fist, Yamcha delivers a combination of punches focused on the synergist of technique, location, and frequency. The energy of each strike being maximized and delivered to the enemy's core making it feel the full brunt of the Wing Chun Punch, ignoring the metal armor on its chest like it was nothing, making quick work of him.
Yamcha then turns around seeing the last gremlins "Begone you walking piles of puke"
All this time he was just having fun trying out new moves and brawling a little to get info about the creatures, but now had enough with his own gains, gathering enough energy to stomp on some cockroaches he lets out a loose ki blast right at the center of the ground when they were approaching creating an explosion equal to a grenade. The mischievous and pestiferous parasites that are always making things worse are then decimated, no matter how many of them would come, it was useless.
"Now it's just you and me buster! This time I will not let you multiplicate like a freak of nature"
Yamcha was determined in getting rid of the leader, but the thing was not afraid, instead, it took out of nowhere a trumpet and made a loud annoying sound with it, so much so that the former bandit closed his ear because of it. Once it was stopped the ground started to shake like a mini earthquake and cracking up, from beneath the depths something came out of it! Something weird, ugly, and frankly alien.
It was approximately two stories tall and possessed a black multi-segmented body, the creature itself looked like a crossbreed between a xenomorph and a scorpion. The base of its slouched torso stands six arthropod-like legs, while the topside sports a pair of much larger, pincer-tipped arms which hold close to the chest like an enormous mutated mantis. The head seems to consist of little more than an enormous, vertebrate-style maw lined with needle-like teeth, with the top of its cranium arching over the back.
The mohawked gremlin showed up on top of the creatures pointed at Yamcha and laughed like a spoiled brat looking down on someone.
'Oh...THAT IS JUST IT!'
Yamcha wanted to keep his cool but that thing just went too far, first, it made an army of disgusting-looking creatures attack him. They came out of a zombie apocalypse, then he did it again in the most horrible way after the rain, and now? It summoned some alien monster and for some reason, he is mounting on it? It made fun of his time and time again, that snotty awful thing, it just made the former-bandit angry for some reason.
"You're not fucking around with me again!"
The scar-faced man shot forward, running like he was possessed by something, not giving a shit about the mutant of a lobster mixed with some alien movie offspring.
The Arachni-Lobster came to the front and started to use its huge pincers to try and tear him apart like Yamcha was going to be on the menu today. But he was having none of it, carefully cloaking his weapon of choice with ki, the fighter showed what he was made of.
Yamcha tenaciously evaded the pincers of death from the mutant with grace and refinement that suited his curved blade. Before meeting Goku and his friends in his home territory so long ago, the Desert Bandit had trained himself with both blade and bare hands. Coming back to using a weapon made him feel so nostalgic, it made him happy to use it even if it didn't make sense to use it against any of the opponents of the past, but maybe...he just needs to try more.
The hard as steel-like pincers were being blocked and countered with expertise by Yamcha. Puar was cheering loudly, even producing small fans as he cheered for his best friend, while Melvin had a mildly surprised look as he witnessed the human going to work on the foe in front of him like some movie actor against aliens.
He stated in an amused tone "Gotta admit, he sure knows how to handle a blade when he feels like it"
The magical cat looked at him and replied, "Yeah! Truly a master right?"
Melvin scoffed a little and remarked "I mean, he did come up with some nice uses to it but with more time and training, perhaps from one who is an expert, he can reach that level"
They continued to see the fight, where Z-Fighter was letting his frustration loose on the monster in front of him. The mohawked Gremlin looked worried as he saw that the mount he was on was steadily losing ground, being pushed back.
Yamcha felt himself getting more at ease, now that he had blown off some steam and annoyance from earlier with his attacks.
'Ahhhh…that's better. Now that I got that out, it's time to think more clearly, so far it is trying to attack me but it's failing so now it's on a defensive way. Let's see what that cackling idiot can do once I stop playing by his rules'
Dodging one last time, Yamcha backflips away from the beast until he is from a considerable distance from it. With his sword in hand rather than go for one more attack he just throws it...right up!
The blade spins vertically like someone would go for a test to see if the sharp part of the blade was going to cut their limb or if it would just go around.
But in this case, it was something else, when the sword fell a certain distance, his surroundings began to go in slow motion, senses sharpened up as Yamcha gave a spinning kick that hit the weapon right at the pommel.
"Laugh at this!"
And just like a dart that reached the bullseye, it shots forward like an arrow, no! A rocket due to the amount of force he used to hit, lucky him the sword was two hundred times stronger than steel and in any case of damage it could be fixed later. For a split second there the gremlin thought that he was done for and the death image of him getting stabbed by the sword reached his mind before it actually happened. But in a surprising act of intelligence, the blade was grabbed by the monster itself that he was riding, maybe it wasn't as dumb as it let out to be.
The mounter saw that happen and thought about vaingloriously laughing at the human failing attempt, but that wasn't going to come to fruition, however, what he did not count on was that grabbing that blade was just a distraction and that the impact was good enough to change its balance for a moment before getting it back once more. Yamcha smirked hearing the mohawked apparent confusion, the sword attempt of attack was merely a distraction. The martial artist had learned that misleading an enemy in any way into a state of false security was a classic but true saying.
However, the misdirection would only work for so long & the real trick was to take advantage of it quickly and swiftly.
"Allow me to show you what happens when you mess with the Wolf"
Getting into position like an Olympic sportsman for when he was about to run the one hundred meters track...he then vanished from their sight with absurd speed. The gremlin had no idea where the human had gone, his mount even though didn't have eyes felt the same, twisting its head left and right but it was doing so rapidly feeling somewhat agitated. It wasn't sure if it also hunted through sound but now its wild instincts left it confused and somewhat disorientated, looking for the prey.
The Gremlin heard the faint but fast footsteps too, but couldn't see where it was coming from... until he saw the smirk on the face of Yamcha, who was now right on his right side! This caused the creature to shriek out in terror... and that is when the martial artist delivered an upward kick that connected to the chin of his adversary!
The little fool screeched as he was sent high into the air, Yamcha using the head of the Arachni-Lobster to take off after him. The force of the leap was strong enough to send the large fused beast into the ground hard, almost embedding its head into the pavement. The Gremlin flailed around wildly in the air, and his eyes widened at seeing the ki ball that had formed in Yamcha's palm! With a shout, he launched the orb into the imp at point-blank range... which exploded and vaporized the beast to mere mist!
Yamcha was grinning as he saw that his foe was no more, and still in the air hovering a little, he saw the remaining monster. He focused his energy and called out "Okay ugly, time to end this nightmare game!"
Cupping his hands together Yamcha brought forth the blue wave of energy that formed on his arms, it wasn't big like those that could blow up the moon but enough to blast off that thing to next week.
*KRA BOOOOOM!*
A big explosion takes place, raising a curtain of dust and smoke that covers the surroundings by its shockwave. But when it started to dissipate, a crater that was made by the attack and seen, the creature's remains were few, not everything had turned into dust, but his sword was still intact, plus a piece of shell was there.
The handle of the blade was destroyed but the blade itself seemed to be functioning still, it was piping hot like a blacksmith was working on it, but alas he would have to grab it later.
*Thud*
"And nothing important was lost" He said after landing.
After the battle had been won Melvin decided to talk 'Damn man, you're like...every horror movie villain nightmare, I would love to see you blast more of these in the face like that but this has transpired long enough'
When he said that the mist started to go away like it was never there from the start.
'So is this the end?' Puar asked.
'I would enjoy bringing some slashers who enjoy wearing masks but meh, this will do'
"Phew..." Yamcha let out a sigh of relief knowing it was over ''I gotta say, never thought I would fight things that were so ugly and annoying, slightly scary too. But I managed"
'Congratulations, you just beat Halloween-themed monsters constructs made of mist' Melvin's voice boomed.
"What do I win? I'm dying of curiosity now more than ever. What is behind that door?" Yamcha pointed.
'Why don't you go inside and find out?'
The supermarket doors automatically open themselves, not because of their tech but more like as welcome for protecting it and the end of the challenge that had come too. With a few careful steps inside the old and dusty place that had to seem better, Yamcha soon saw something that brought up his attention. Right ahead two Cardboard boxes had written in permanent ink *Pick ''ME'' Up* which confused Yamcha when he looked at it. Curiosity is a strong emotion, so he decided to walk to the first one on the left and slowly opened up, expecting something to jump out of it and bite him in the nose or something...but it was something else.
"Wait...is...this an egg?" Yamcha looked at an honestly big orange-colored egg with black stripes adorning its shell beautifully.
"You didn't see this coming, did you? Surprise! You just got yourself a Pokemon! And a Generation VIII nonetheless" Melvin said with an upbeat smile, now showing up rather than telepathically speaking.
'Eh?' Puar didn't even see him move.
"A poke-what?" The man was still confused as heck.
"I see you have no idea what I'm talking about huh? Well in shorter terms. Pokemon are mysterious creatures of all shapes and sizes who live in the wild and sometimes alongside humans, you can say some are meant just as pets or to go into competitions" Melvin explained.
"Competitions?"
"Of course! You see, pokemon have a certain source of energy that allows them to use certain skills accordingly to their type, the more experience accumulates than the easier to grow stronger until they can evolve into a better version of themselves"
This was a lot to take in "So..what your saying is that I won some sort of magical creature that is going to come out of this egg?"
"Make sure that once it's about to crack you're the one it sees first, so it can see you as their fatherly figure. That way it will be easier for them to obey you once you start training them.
"Man..." Yamcha rubs his chin in thought "I'm quite curious but are you sure it is not dangerous?"
"Oh pipe off being so paranoid, is not gonna come out and eat ya. Most of them are the cutest things, so just treat it with kindness, or else I kick your ass" Melvin said, swinging his staff like an old man that wanted the kids off his lawn.
"Well...Looks like we got ourselves a new family member Puar" Yamcha said with an unsure smile.
'Yay! I get to be a big brother' Puar said innocently.
"What about the other one?" Yamcha asked.
"Open up and find out its way better than to let me ruin the surprise to you"
Hearing Melvin out Yamcha does just that and opens up the box slowly before a blinding light comes out of it and what seems to be sparks start flying around the room, it circles around him a total of six sparks that are absorbed by his sword. When the energy dissipated, Yamcha had a piece of paper in his hands and was confused.
"What just happened?" He asked.
"This reward has magically enchanted your sword with new fancy attributes, just look at that piece of paper in your hand" Melvin pointed out.
'Whoa! Magic? Does that make Yamcha a magic swordsman?' Puar said in excitement.
Feeling curious now about what he just said about his weapon, Yamcha looks down to see that the paper had information about the enhancement's name and what they do.
Cutting Edge: Able to gather air to give an extra cutting edge to a blade for 60 seconds
Storm of Battle: Increases all sword damage by 50% for 60 seconds
Lightning Blade: Reinforces the weapon with lightning, enchancing its cutting power thanks to the frequency given by the eletric current for 60 seconds.
The set of abilities were impressive, some needed conditions to be activated or had a time limit, but that didn't change the fact that Yamchas blade has just received a much appreciated Uber charge.
"Hey now this looks like a nice boost to the good ol blade, thanks" He said.
'Can Yamcha-Sama come back now? I saved him some candy'
Melvin Yawns "Well it seems we better get going, I'm starting to get sleepy"
As Melvin was about to get them out of there Yamcha looked down at the Egg that was now his and pondered what would come out of it.
'Things are getting more interesting everyday' He thought.
A\N: Phew! This was a big chapter, right? Did you guys see the references from the enemies besides the obvious ones? Bet you didn't expect me to give Yamcha a pokemon, I wonder what it could be. Heh, I'm having quite the fun here and hope you guys are too.
