"Its not your responsibility though."

Carly's voice hung in the air between the three of them before she took a sip of the new blend of tea. "I... I've been thinking..."

She was curled up on her couch her top back on with Aki sharing the couch and was also enjoying the blend. Such a perfectly normal setting save Witch just in the middle and the drifting golden cocoons that hovered around Carly.

Placing the cup on the small table, Carly stood up from the couch and made her way to the displays in the room. Opening a glass door she produced a sizable thing that Aki wasn't really able to get a good look at. "I haven't used it... given that its designed is based on the Fortune Fairies line, but..."

Aki was then introduced to a very interesting... it looked like a roulette wheel. All the fairies were represented, with what they represented in fortune telling represented in words on their 'slice'. It wasn't small either, like the figurines, with each fairy easily the size of a hand. When Carly placed the device on the table, Aki had to get closer for a better examination.

The paint was everywhere with so much precision it left Aki happily curious. Time spent examining Carly's pieces always put a smile on the woman's face. Perhaps it was just them, because the Dragons knew Carly and her loves so there she knew they would be honest and kind. Aki recalled the times she would glance up and see this proud smile on Carly's face.

More over having seen Jack working with spray paint was just as much a marvel. Large swaths of paint, and somehow with sheets of magazines, various types of knives, he had produced pieces that blew her mind. Gardens were lovely, flowers had lovely sweet scents, and nature was a wild beauty that she loved to see even if it was mostly in movies and videos. But for paint to be as wild as that and still be beautiful?

"What do you think?"

"Carly I can never get over how skilled your talent with a brush is. Every spot no matter how small I can see has been painted, and not smeared into areas it doesn't belong in." She gushed as she studied the fairies.

"Thank you! It took more time since I had to rotate the wheel. I've not used it, since its just spinning a dial. I'm not even sure its worth trying, since I mean, if you spin the wheel the same way each time doesn't it land roughly in the same spot each time?" She pointed out as she moved back to her seat as Aki continued her study of the little divination device.

"Well there are game shows with that mechanic, and the wheel obviously doesn't just land on the same spot each time," Aki pointed out as she sat back on the couch.

"Really? I always thought game shows just use a device to stop the wheel where they wanted it to," Carly replied thoughtfully.

"I'm sure some did..." Aki amended as she looked down at the wheel. "But if its meant as a divination tool... Its supposed to be more 'you' than 'it'? You're the one influencing the device?" She asked before adding, "well I suppose its vastly different for Misty."

"True... that's why I wanted to try it now. Though I'm not sure now that I'm looking at the paint on it." Carly prodded the device with her index, "won't the paint adjust the spin?"

"Why not believe in the fairies?" Witch asked as she put down her cup. "I think it was probably meaningful that you got this when you did. Lets try trusting in chance and see what happens!"

Looking between the Rose duelist and the Witch, Carly steeled her nerves and focused her attention on the wheel. "So I know that you're not supposed to be involved in the whole Yubel thing. But that group of friends you have 'are' and so far they haven't done anything. Maybe now is the time to get involved?"

Aki blinked in surprise before nodding, 'Junko and Momoe have been doing better... But if I'm not there...'

"Ok!" Carly closed her eyes and tried to envision the question she had in her head. Doubt floated along the surface of her thoughts, worry ate through her confidence as the question started to twist. 'Is this the time that Asuka's group needs to deal with Yubel' had been her starting thought. But was it good enough? Did she need more details? Maybe she should already be spinning the dial while thinking?

'You got this Carly, focus and believe!' Aki encouraged as she watched the cocoons start to glow. 'Even if you're sleeping you're helping her!' she thought as Carly reached out for the wheel.

Golden light wasn't something that could be ignored with her eyes shut, but it ate away at the doubt in her. "Is this the time that Asuka's group needs to deal with Yubel?" she spoke the words as her fingers sent the wheel spinning. She kept her eyes shut and just listened to the soft clack of the plastic pieces that allowed the spinner to go. There was no clack of pins striking a bar just the whirling sound of the spin.

When she opened her eyes the arrow she had painted was aiming straight to Hikari's painted representation. Tears welled up in her eyes as she saw her fairy as doubt and hope fought for her confidence. Hearing Hikari's triumphant cheer as an echo of a memory from before made the tears slip down the sides of her face.

"They answered you!" Witch announced as she soared into the air with a victorious swirl of lace and hair to hover between the humans. "The cocoons glowed as you worked! So even if they're sleeping, they'll still give you the answers you're looking for!"

"Then you have your answer," Carly pulled off her glasses to rub her eyes only for Aki and Witch to grab her and stop her. Demoralizing blue and purple from her bruises were visible to her crippled vision before she relaxed her arm.

Witch flew off and retrieved a tissue for Carly while Aki looked at the device. "I'll let the Asuka and Ryo know then. Even if we Dragons' aren't meant to 'help' directly, I suppose I can give them some direction. But I won't pretend that I'm not apprehensive about Momoe going on trips. I still can't figure out what they're supposed to 'do'."

"Well, its like Little Rua or me. We can't do anything to help you guys, but we're there! Having someone cheer and support you from the side lines must have some value. Or it wouldn't be so important in those 'Power of Friendship' moments in shows." The reporter pointed out with a pragmatic tone. Now that she had a tissue Aki settled back on the couch and began reaching for her cup.

"You're right," Aki admitted with a nod as she curled her fingers around the handle of her cup for another sip of the cooling tea. "It feels weird to send people who generally have no power to face someone like Yubel though."

"Its getting dark, Yusei is going to worry and Jack should be getting back," Witch noted as she floated in front of the window and looked over at the clock.

"Yeah, I'm glad you come by like you do. Jack applying the ointment always starts ok then he just gets so angry..." Carly's lips twisted into an embarrassed smile. Jack would bear down after a while, hence why so many of her bruises were still there. He didn't mean it after all just...

"How dare those bastards try to sell you into a sex trade! If Aki had torn the buildings down I would have killed them all myself!" Jack roared in outrage as he pressed the cotton ball as though he would shove the ball into Carly's bones.

"Not a sex trade... just human trafficking..." Carly began, teeth bared in pain while she tried to talk normally despite the agony.

"WOMAN SHUT UP!" Jack continued roaring as he scraped at the bruises as though he wanted to wipe them out of existence. Despite grinding them more firmly into her body. He watched the tears spilling down from behind her glasses and his fury grew. "HOW DARE THEY!"

But he must have seen the blood he was drawing from how he was scrubbing her arm as he released it with shame, guilt, and rage naked on his face.

Carly's tea cup began to rattle on the table where she had rested it, the soft rattling sound grabbing Aki's attention. When the paintings on the wall began to rattle along with the glass doors for the figurines. Even they were shaking when a loud explosion caught them both off guard. Blinking in alarm Aki stood up as Witch rushed to the duel disk. It was already ringing as the spirit carried it back to Aki.

Sliding it on her arm, Aki switched on the communication, "I'm here and it wasn't me."

"Ok." Yusei's voice was almost stoic, though there was a hint of relief. There was a sound of the weighted glass door sliding open, from there the outdoors shifted the way Yusei sounded as he spoke. "I see smoke in the distance, north east of here."

While from Yuseis' perspective he was already trying to judge what caused it. The large plume was far too large for a car and he began running through things that would cause it. A building would have been louder, but there was always this grind to the sound as concrete gave way. This was, muffled because he was inside working on the D-Wheel, more boom. The wind from the altitude of the condo wasn't strong enough to carry the scent quickly.

But as he stood there he could just smell smoke and oil. So whatever the smoke was coming from was mechanical. Compounding the sudden smoke was the sector of the city, as that part was where the Momentum Project was housed. The smoke didn't 'appear' to be close to the building, but Yusei was too far and with too many obscuring buildings to be able to say with confidence. "Are there any active helicopters in Neo Domino at the moment? I know your father uses them when he comes to visit you."

"Not to my knowledge, and if he was coming he'd tell me before hand," Aki's voice carried over, from his duel disk as he slipped it on properly. The wind was tugging at his jacket while Jack stomped his way out to join him.

"What? Smoke?" The taller blond frowned at the direction of the smoke and was clearly trying to figure out what was causing it as well.

"I have Aki on the Duel Disk, I think its a helicopter. Its the only thing that fits to my knowledge."

"Wait!" Carly could be heard in the background. "The tea, maybe Mr. Ishtar or the Kaibas are here still?"

"Its possible," Yusei replied as he watched the smoke for another moment. "Mount up, we need to make sure its not."

Jack grunted and Aki could be heard giving her own acknowledgment as Yusei took a last look at the worrying plume of smoke before going inside. He shut the door before nearly tripping over the twins who looked concerned.

"Big brother? Can we come?" Ruka asked, but Yusei shook his head against the idea.

"Neither YuseiGo or Wheel of Fortune can carry you both, I also rather you be safe here than possible traffickers picking you up." He explained as he walked around them to continue towards his ride.

"But I've gotten better at summoning," Ruka pointed out with Rua's ponytail bouncing.

"I can even help boost her ability!" Rua added, but he had this feeling in the pit of his stomach the answer was still 'no'. The last time the guys left, Aki had been with them and the pair had ridden on the shoulders of Power Tool Dragon. As fun as that was, and it was F-U-N, the reality was that it was Aki's power allowing them to go.

"I'm sorry," Yusei replied as he loaded in his Duel Disk into YuseiGo's docking bay and the D-Wheel began to activate. "I'll be back as soon as I can."

"We know... Be careful! We'll get some towels and the first aid kit if the hospital can't take them!" Ruka offered, as Kuribon appeared above her head.

'I'd be gravely concerned if it was that serious, the hospital shouldn't be swamped at this point.' Yusei thought to himself as the elevator began its descent with both riders and rides loaded on.

Besides the rumble of the elevator was the sound of Jack's communication system going off. "Crow! Where are you?"

"On my way to a blast, I take it you heard it too?" Crow answered, his voice buffeted by the winds as he drove.

"Good, we're leaving base right now, we'll meet up with you so keep in touch about what you find!" Jack answered firmly, while getting side eyed by Yusei.

"Did... he just call the twins home 'base'?" Aki asked her voice stunned from her end, while holding the sound of someone also on the move.

"Yes," was Yusei's only, flat, unamused, answer.

"JACK!"

Smoke filtered into the air as Crow approached the area. His helmet was, thankfully, keeping him from getting his eyes irritated while he kept an eye out for what happened. Cars abandoned on the sides of the road were untouched, while the smoke became thicker starting to obscure his vision as he drove. As he road he could see the building that held the Momentum Unit for Japan, a building that made him feel both awe and apprehension in equal measures.

'Nothing like being in any proximity of a thing that can give limitless energy or a nuclear end of all things...' he thought to himself. Though the guys antics were fun to listen to, Crow had hung up since it would distract from a search and rescue. But now he started to regret that. This wasn't Satellite, the city wasn't run down so seeing it so empty and abandoned was stirring emotions different than being on a ruined mini island.

His headlight bounced off something in the distance causing him to slow up, animals were a rarity. No...

Ryu, of all people, jumped out from behind a car and began waving Crow down!

The Dragon pulled up short next to the kid and found Zalinka slumped to the ground against the bumper of an dusty, dirty white car with wheels that had flattened with disuse. It looked to have been there since the beginning of the Black Sky Event even!

"Hey kid, what happened?!" he asked in growing concern as he dismounted his ride.

"We were riding around in the company helicopter and something blew us out of the sky! It caught on fire and Sis pulled us out and brought us to the ground with her Ka. But she's 'really' clueless and zoned out from it." Ryu explained as he went back to the young woman.

Crow disconnected his Disk and opened the channel as he approached Zalinka.

She didn't look bad, just totally wiped out, slumped as she was against the back of the car...

"I carried her here. Since the helicopter managed to land before exploding, but I didn't want to risk some type of domino effect of explosions..." Ryu explained as he stood there.

"Don't helicopters just spin out and crash in a fiery ball?" Crow asked, while his fingers sought out Zalinka's pulse.

Ryu's snort of amusement was the first sound Crow heard. "That only happens in movies and stuff to build up tension or action. Actually helicopters crash, paradoxical, safely. Explosions obviously can happen, but its not like a meteor heading for earth. Its main thing is lift, so when the blades get damaged... is something the matter?"

Crow had started staring at Ryu with this half smile on his face before shaking his head, "10 going 35. Kid do you know how to act your age?"

"I spend a lot of time with adults with some being really invested in their interests and can actually make learning fun. So?"

"So we'll just wait here until the others get here, Aki would be our best bet for Zalinka." Crow answered as he tried to just process this kid.

This 'kid'.
