Chapter 3 - Bright Prospects

The field behind the Pokémon Center was quiet except for the rhythmic sound of wings flapping and Pokémon pushing their limits under the dark sky. It was 6am in the morning.

Now Asier was certainly not an early riser. But when the potential prospect of becoming a powerful Pokemon trainer in the Pokemon world which he had recently entered filled his brain…how could he not start putting in the required hard work.

Asier wiped the sweat from his brow, watching as his team trained ferociously. His muscles ached from the constant physical conditioning he'd been putting himself through, but he was no stranger to pushing past limits. No pain, no gain, he thought with a smirk. And he realized that he should have joined in on his Pokemon's training back in that cave but better late than never.

In the center of it all, Clefairy and Chansey stood side by side, their tiny hands glowing with a black aura as they used Gravity, steadily increasing the gravitational field around the area. Asier's whole team was training under this increased pressure. His Pidgey, Sentret, and Mankey darted around, weaving between each other with lightning-fast Quick Attacks and close-quarters strikes. The ground was littered with small craters where Larvitar had been hurling Rock Throws, testing the reflexes of the other three Pokémon.

"Sentret, keep that speed up! Mankey, don't let yourself get sloppy!" Asier called out, glancing down at his watch. They'd been at it for over an hour now, and the improvement was noticeable. Sentret and Pidgey were moving faster, more fluidly, while Mankey's strikes carried a more deliberate force.

Larvitar, as usual, was the wild card. He had been using Dragon Dance to build up stamina as while this move increased physical power and speed by enhancing the Pokemon's body and muscles, it consumed massive amounts of stamina. Larvitar's little body pushing against the heavy gravity like a tank, relentless and almost maniacal in his approach. Every time the pressure increased, Larvitar roared with what could only be described as delight, hurling another boulder with fierce accuracy.

"Jeez, you're a machine, Larvitar." Asier shook his head in amazement. He is a monster.

He bent down and began his own set of push-ups, feeling the added weight from Clefairy's and Chansey's Gravity bearing down on his back. His body screamed in protest, but Asier gritted his teeth. If they're pushing past their limits, so am I.

After another 3 hours of training, Asier decided to end it. "Alright, guys! That's enough! Let's grab some food before we drop dead." He clapped his hands together, and his Pokémon gathered around him, panting but looking pleased with themselves. Even Larvitar, who normally never looked satisfied, gave a grunt of approval.

That intense training with Clefairy and Chansey's healing provided during the breaks, had everyone tired and starving for food.

Clefairy and Chansey canceled the Gravity, and the weight lifted from everyone's shoulders. Asier stood up, stretching his arms above his head. "Ah, that feels better. Let's hit the cafeteria."

The Pokémon Center cafeteria was a welcome respite. Thanks to his heroics the day before, Asier was eating free for the next few days—a perk he was definitely going to take advantage of. He grabbed a tray of food, loading it with a generous amount for himself and his Pokémon. Chansey had even given him a few of her eggs, which she gently placed on the table.

Curious, Asier cracked one open and took a bite. His eyes widened in surprise. Holy… this is amazing. The eggs, despite drinking the egg white and yolk raw…it was very tasty!. The egg was soft, rich with nutrients, and practically radiated with energy. "Alright, guys, dig in. Chansey's eggs are the real deal."

His team eagerly began eating, the exhaustion from the intense training session already fading. Asier could feel a surge of vitality in his own body, too, as if the fatigue from the past days had been washed away. These things could have revolutionized healthcare back in my previous world, he mused with a smirk.

Asier had barely finished his meal when his phone pinged. He pulled it out and saw an email from the Pokémon League.

Congratulations on your sponsorship approval!

He raised an eyebrow and quickly opened the message. The League had not only approved his application…very quickly, but they seemed genuinely impressed with his progress—capturing rare Pokémon like Larvitar and Clefairy, battling Team Rocket, and showing promise as a trainer in just a few days. They had even agreed to provide him with a stipend of 3,000 Pokémon dollars every two weeks, with the potential for more if he continued to excel.

The only condition was that he be available as a first responder when trouble broke out, using his Pokémon to assist in emergencies.

Of course, there's always a catch, Asier thought with a dry smile. But he wasn't about to complain. His bank account had been practically empty since arriving in this world, and now he had a steady income. Feels nice to get my first paycheck…let's see how long it lasts.

He quickly logged into his account to check the funds, feeling a rare sense of relief as the 3,000 Pokémon dollars appeared. "Well, that's a start," he muttered, pocketing his device. "Time to hit the Poké Mart."

At the Pokémon Mart, Asier wandered through the aisles, grabbing the essentials: a sturdy traveling bag-1200 Pokemon Dollars, some instant meals for himself - 50 Pokemon Dollars, and plenty of food for his Pokémon - 300 Pokemon Dollars. The prices weren't cheap, and by the time he added berries, Pokéballs, and healing supplies, his wallet was looking pretty thin.

Looking at all the other displays on the shelves, he couldn't help but guffaw at some of the prices. Evolution triggering items ranged from 3000 all the way to 10000. Most importantly. The few TMs available were starting at a minimum of 8000. For him to teach his Pokemon moves using TMs…he wouldn't have enough even if he sold himself.

Who the hell would buy me?

And seeing TMs in this world, he couldn't help but research how they were made and worked. One thing he found was that all TMs were one use only and HMs did not exist, they were just TMs. Furthermore, TMs were basically imprints of an existing Pokemon's knowledge on how to use the move but once the move was imprinted onto the TM, the Pokemon that did the imprinting would forget the move. Kind of like sucking the move out of the Pokemon. This also led to the discovery that Smeargle, with their move Sketch, are some of the most sought after Pokemon by trainers to sell to organizations that make TMs for enormous amounts of money and free TMs.

With my luck, I'm never running across any Smeargle.

He stood at the counter, watching the total climb higher and higher.

"2 850 Poké dollars," the cashier said, smiling politely.

Asier handed over the cash, sighing as his account dipped back to near zero. "Seriously… this is a ripoff. Can't believe being a trainer is this costly."

The cashier blinked in confusion, but Asier waved it off. "Forget it." He grabbed his bag and left the store, mentally calculating how long his supplies would last.

Not long enough. I need more cash flow. If I get strong enough, maybe I can use the trend in my world about people making courses to sell online but here I would be teaching trainers how to better train their Pokemon. All it shows online is majority of trainers try and teach their Pokemon different moves and train them in basic dodging and attacks. The more skilled trainers use their moves in combos where one move supplements the other. And at champion level they can create new never heard of moves by combining existing moves along with having a massive accumulation of training and battle experience, enough to even take on legendary pokemon to some degree.

Asier grumbled as he left the store before making his way to the Pokwmon . He couldn't help but feel the need to urgently evolve his Pidgeotto into a Pidgeot and ride on its back to reach his destinations quickly! He knew so many things like locations for strong Pokemon and other key details which he could use to his advantage but having to walk on foot, limited him quite heavily. Rather than wasting hours every day to get from one place to another, he would rather spend every single moment of his time either grinding away his Pokemon, training a wide variety to build any team he wished and then simply fly to each major gym and wipe the floor with them.

The sooner he could fix his transportation issue, the sooner he could start snowballing.

Patience is key though. Not like I can accelerate Pidgeotto's evolution.

It was a simple matter of training and battle experience. Once accumulated enough, evolution would naturally follow.

Back at the Pokémon Center, Asier spotted Ash and Misty sitting by the counter. Ash waved him over. "Hey, Asier! We're about to head to Pewter City. You wanna come with us?"

Asier considered it for a moment. Traveling with Ash would have its benefits—he was strong, if a bit reckless, and Misty was resourceful. But Asier liked his independence. "Nah," he said with a shrug. "I've got my own path to follow. Besides, I've got some things to take care of in Viridian Forest."

Ash looked a little disappointed, but he nodded. "Alright. Well, good luck, then! I hope we battle again sometime."

"You too, kid," Asier said, giving a mock salute. "Try not to blow up any more bikes while you're at it."

Misty glared at Ash, who scratched his head sheepishly. "I'll do my best."

With that, Asier waved goodbye and set off toward Viridian Forest, the trees looming in the distance.

Asier ventured deeper into Viridian Forest, his senses on high alert. The thick canopy blocked most of the sunlight, casting an eerie green glow over the forest floor. His instincts, honed from his past experiences, warned him of danger. Just as he rounded a thick tree trunk, the buzzing began.

A massive horde of Beedrill swarmed from above, their yellow and black bodies a blur in the thick underbrush. Leading them was a larger Beedrill, young and battle-worn but glaring with piercing red eyes.

"So, you're the leader," Asier muttered, eyes narrowing. "Pidgey, Sentret—let's show them what your training is worth."

With a swift movement, he sent his two Pokémon out, both ready for action. The horde charged forward as one.

"Pidgey, use Gust to scatter them! Sentret, use Quick Attack to keep the stragglers off Pidgey."

Pidgey flapped its wings hard, sending powerful blasts of wind that knocked the first wave of Beedrill back, scattering them into the trees. Sentret darted around the gusts, weaving between the remaining Beedrill, dodging stingers with incredible speed.

The horde was massive, though, and no matter how many fell, more kept coming. Their furious Twineedle attacks zipped through the air, aiming for both of Asier's Pokémon.

"Sentret, dodge and counter with Slash!" Asier ordered, keeping his cool despite the overwhelming odds.

Sentret's claws glowed white as it danced around the incoming Beedrill, slashing them down one by one. Meanwhile, Pidgey soared above, unleashing another powerful Gust that cleared the air.

The leader Beedrill screeched, ordering its remaining troops forward in a final attack. They dived in unison, stingers aimed at Pidgey and Sentret.

"Now! Pidgey, Air Slash! Sentret, Focus Energy into Slash!"

Pidgey's wings glowed as it unleashed a powerful cutting wind that slashed through the Beedrill's ranks, taking down several. At the same time, Sentret was enveloped by a yellow aura before racing around using Quick Attack and tearing through all remaining Beedrill with a Slash. Using Quick Attack consistently was now becoming second nature to both Sentret and Pidgey.

The leader Beedrill, undeterred, charged forward in a final, desperate assault. But it was no match for the combined power of Pidgey and Sentret's fierce performance. As the dust settled, both Pokémon glowed with bright light, their bodies shifting and growing.

As the light faded, a proud Pidgeotto stood in place of Pidgey, and a sleek, agile Furret took Sentret's place.

"Well done," Asier said, his heart swelling with pride. "You both deserve it."

With the battle won, Asier pulled out a Pokéball and threw it at the weakened leader Beedrill. The Pokéball wobbled and clicked, signaling the successful capture. In a flash, the Pokéball teleported back to the Pokémon Center.

[Beedrill - The Poison Bee Pokemon: Beedrill is extremely territorial, flying at high speeds and attacking with its three venomous stingers located on its forelegs and tail. It can take down opponents with its powerful poison, and its tail secretes the most potent toxin. If angered or approached near its nest, Beedrill will attack furiously in swarms, jabbing its enemies repeatedly with its stingers.

Type: Bug-Poison

Ability: Sniper

Gender: Male

Height: 1.6m

Weight: 50kg

Moves: Twineedle, Laser Focus, Poison Sting, Fury Cutter, Fury Attack, Bug Bite]

Asier pressed further into the forest, his senses attuned to any sign of danger. The encounter with the Beedrill horde had energized him, but he remained cautious.

Ahead, he heard the unmistakable sound of clashing blades. Pushing through the foliage, Asier came upon two Scythers locked in combat. Their sharp scythes clanged together, sparks flying with each strike as they fought for dominance.

"Now this is more like it," Asier whispered, excitement building. "Larvitar, Mankey, you're up!"

His Pokémon materialized with a flash of light. Larvitar roared in anticipation, and Mankey cracked its knuckles, eager for a fight.

"Larvitar, Rock Throw! Mankey, get ready!"

Larvitar hurled large boulders at the battling Scythers, forcing them to turn their attention toward Asier's team. One Scyther dodged the rocks with ease, but the other was hit directly, stumbling as it tried to regain balance.

"Mankey, Low Kick!"

Mankey rushed forward, delivering a sweeping Low Kick aimed at the Scyther's legs. The Scyther barely flinched—being part Flying-type and Bug-type, the attack wasn't very effective.

I should have remembered that, Asier thought, quickly assessing the situation. Okay, no fighting moves. Time to switch tactics.

"Larvitar, use Bite! Mankey, Night Slash!"

Larvitar lunged forward, sinking its sharp teeth into the arm of the nearest Scyther. The bug-type screeched in pain, thrashing to free itself. Meanwhile, Mankey's claws glowed with dark energy as it slashed across the second Scyther's chest, landing a critical hit.

The first Scyther broke free and flew high into the air, preparing to dive down with Fury Cutter.

"Larvitar, Iron Defense!"

Larvitar braced itself, its rocky skin glowing as it hardened. The Scyther's attack landed, but Larvitar did not flinch, standing firm under the pressure.

"Mankey, hit the other one with Scratch!" Asier commanded, watching the Scythers carefully.

Mankey's sharp claws raked across the second Scyther's body, causing it to stagger. Larvitar, still locked in combat with the first Scyther, delivered a devastating Rock Throw that sent it crashing into a tree.

Both Scythers, though formidable, were clearly worn down. Asier seized the moment, tossing two Pokéballs. Both Pokémon were caught with satisfying clicks, their Pokéballs teleporting back to the Pokémon Center.

"Well done, everyone," Asier said, breathing hard but triumphant. "Let's keep moving."

Asier continued deeper into the forest, capturing a large Metapod and a strong-looking Parasect with ease. But then, a figure stepped out from the trees—a boy dressed in samurai armor, holding a Pokéball confidently.

"You there!" the boy called, his voice sharp. "Are you Ash of Pallet Town?

"No. I'm Charlie from the Chocolate Factory."

"My apologies Charlie. You look like a strong trainer. I am Samurai, and I challenge you to a battle. But let's make it interesting—how about a wager?"

Asier raised an eyebrow. "A wager, huh?" He glanced at his phone. "Alright, 150 Pokémon dollars. That's all I've got right now."

"Very well," Samurai agreed. They both entered their details into the Battle App on their phones, confirming the wager.

"One-on-one battle," Samurai declared. "Let's see what you're made of. Go, Pinsir!"

The massive bug-type emerged, its pincers snapping aggressively.

Asier grinned. "Larvitar, you're up!"

Larvitar let out a roar as it took its place on the battlefield.

"Pinsir, use Vice Grip!"

Pinsir rushed forward, its pincers wide open, ready to clamp down on Larvitar.

"Larvitar, counter with Iron Head!" Asier ordered.

Larvitar's head glowed as it charged forward, meeting Pinsir's attack head-on. The two clashed with a resounding impact, neither giving an inch.

"Pinsir, Bind!"

Pinsir wrapped its powerful pincers around Larvitar, squeezing tightly. Larvitar growled in pain, but Asier remained calm.

"Don't panic, Larvitar. Use Bite!"

Larvitar twisted its head and bit down hard on Pinsir's arm. The bug-type screeched and released its grip.

"Now, Dragon Dance!"

Larvitar's body glowed a deep crimson red as it increased its speed and power, its muscles bulging with new strength. Clearly it was getting more and more proficient with using the move, resulting in a much higher power increase but equivalent sharp stamina cost.

"Pinsir, Seismic Toss!"

Pinsir grabbed at Larvitar again, but the speed boost enabled it to dodge. It followed up with an Iron Head of its own accord and without Asier's command, something a result of their training.

Asier's eyes narrowed. Perfect timing. His battle instincts are getting better! "Larvitar, Rock Throw—now!"

Larvitar stomped on the ground, causing it to crack before it hurled massive chunks up at Pinsir, hitting it hard and sending it staggering back. Larvitar landed gracefully on its feet, ready for more.

"Finish it, Larvitar—Outrage!"

With a roar, Larvitar's eyes glowed red, and it charged forward, slamming into Pinsir with immense force. Pinsir flew backward, crashing into the ground, unable to continue.

"Pinsir! No!" Samurai exclaimed in worry before recalling his Pokémon. "You win."

Asier smirked as the notification of his 300 Pokémon dollars hit his account. "Good battle."

Samurai bowed slightly, impressed. "You are a formidable trainer. We shall battle again one day."

With more victories under his belt and his Pokémon growing stronger by the hour, Asier felt more confident than ever. Viridian Forest had proven to be an excellent testing ground for his team, but the real journey was just beginning.

"Let's keep going," he muttered to himself, disappearing deeper into the forest.

The whole process of getting through Viridian Forest took the better part of a day mainly because Asier stopped to battle every single trainer he came across. Thankfully, almost all of the trainers in this forest would be newbies hence he managed to rack up a seven win streak. Five of which were wager battles, allowing him to recover his bank balance to 1800 Pokemon Dollars.

The battles toughened his Pokemon quite a bit, and some of them even learned new moves like Pidgeotto learning Twister, Furret learning Agility, Mankey learning Cross Chop and Larvitar learning Rock Slide and Stomping Tantrum. Recalling the episodes of Ash training his Pikachu to learn Iron Tail, he decided to try a similar method with Pidgeotto to teach it Steel Wing by using heavy rocks courtesy of Larvitar and some Gravity training to weigh down Pidgeotto's wings while it channeling energy into his wings.

Thanks to Larvitar demonstrating Iron Head, Pidgeotto had some basis as to what type of energy he needed to channel. Just within two hours of this training, Pidgeotto had shown signs of almost learning Steel Wing.

If it wasn't for the fact that he still did not have any camping gear due to a lack of money, Asier would have continued to train in the forest. The constant stops for battles and the training sessions for his Pokemon and himself, followed by meal times…well it lead to them exiting the forest by the time the moon was high in the sky and the blanket of stars filled their sights.

You just couldn't get this type of a view back there. There is very little light pollution I think it was called here. Maybe because of Pokemon and the need to be one with nature. That and all the towns seem so small and the number of people is quite a lot less compared to there.

"LAR!" Larvitar suddenly bursting out of its Pokeball and rushing with a maniacal speed that made Asier's jaw drop was not what he expected right now.

"Larvitar, where'd you go?" Asier called, picking up the pace.

As he approached the entrance of Pewter City, his eyes widened at the sight of a man standing on the side of the road, slack-jawed and horrified. At his feet, a pile of rubble, or rather, what used to be a perfectly arranged display of various rocks, was now... gone. Entirely consumed.

His tiny…not so tiny rock-eating gremlin was innocently licking its lips, content after its impromptu snack.

The man, visibly distressed, was shaking. "M-my rocks! They're...they're all gone! Do you have any idea how long it took me to collect those?!"

Asier cringed internally but composed himself, recognizing the man immediately. Well, well, well. Looks like I've met Brock's infamous deadbeat dad.

Feigning ignorance, Asier scratched the back of his head, his voice dry with sarcasm. "Rocks, huh? That's… unfortunate. Didn't know they were a rare species. You're gonna send me the bill?"

Flint's face flushed with anger. "You need to pay for the damages! Do you understand the value of those rocks?"

Asier quirked an eyebrow, biting back a laugh. "Uh, last I checked, rocks don't have much of a resale value, pal. Maybe start a GoFundMe for endangered pebbles?"

Flint spluttered in disbelief. "I demand compensation! You can't just—"

Asier cut him off with a dismissive wave. "Alright, alright. Compensation for rocks, right?" He glanced down at Larvitar, who looked far too pleased with itself. "Larvitar, be a dear and whip us up some fresh ones, would you?"

Larvitar, eager to oblige, stomped the ground with its tiny feet. The earth shook as large chunks of rock burst from the ground. The makeshift boulders were nearly identical to Flint's original collection, just, you know, freshly unearthed.

"There. Good as new," Asier said, deadpan, with a gesture toward the pile. "All yours, rock connoisseur."

Flint looked between the newly created rocks and Asier, speechless. Asier gave him a mock salute, grinning.

"Pleasure doing business with you. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a date with the Pewter City Pokémon Center. Later!" He turned on his heel and jogged toward the city, leaving a baffled Flint standing there, clutching his remaining rocks like they were his life's work.

"Next time, feed them something less... edible," Asier called over his shoulder, snickering as he disappeared into the distance.

The next morning, Asier spent quite a few hours perfecting Pidgeotto's Steel Wing and used Larvitar's newly learnt Rock Slide attack as a training method…that too under intense gravity. The thing about gravity training was that it was not only taxing on the body resulting in a huge stimulation for growth supplemented with a very healthy diet but also acted as a way to make the Pokemon's moves significantly stronger as the intense gravity also apparently made it difficult to use whatever energy they were using to form those moves.

It was like being under the ability pressure from the games where you would use more pp every time you used a specific move. Only in this case not only were his Pokemon draining more energy when using moves but they were also apparently condensing more energy every time they used the move resulting in huge power leaps with more training. Despite being heavily taxing on stamina, the more they trained, the greater their stamina reserves and being able to end the battle quickly basically made it worth it.

Soon after the training ended and his Pokemon fully recovered via Clefairy and Chansey who became the heart of the team thanks to their Gravity and healing moves, along with a full healthy meal, Asier made his way over to the Pewter City gym which was too hard to miss.

Asier approached the massive stone building, a sense of anticipation building. He was ready for this. The last few days had been full of intense training, and now it was time to put all of it to the test. The gym loomed in front of him like a fortress, the rock pillars guarding its entrance a fitting prelude to the challenge ahead.

He pushed open the heavy doors, entering the reception area. Two trainers stood by the counter, both dressed in sleek, gray uniforms with Brock's emblem stitched onto their shoulders. They looked up from their clipboards, giving him an appraising glance.

"Can we help you?" the taller one asked, his tone flat and uninterested.

"Yeah," Asier said, approaching the counter. "I'm here for the gym challenge."

The shorter trainer sneered slightly, giving Asier a quick once-over. "A newbie, huh? Don't worry. We'll register you for the Normal Challenge." He said it like he was doing Asier a favor, already tapping on the tablet in front of him.

Asier raised an eyebrow, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. "Actually, I'll take the True Challenge."

Both trainers froze mid-motion. The taller one looked up from his clipboard, an incredulous smirk forming on his face. "The True Challenge? You do realize that's reserved for more… experienced trainers, right?"

The shorter one snickered. "Yeah, you're better off sticking with the Normal Challenge. The gym leader uses League-provided Pokémon in that one. Easier to handle for someone like you."

Asier leaned on the counter, giving them a dry smile. "Someone like me, huh? You know, I did a little research. Turns out the True Challenge not only has the gym leader using his personal Pokémon but also comes with a much higher prize pool." He raised an eyebrow. "And I'm not really here for participation trophies."

The taller one narrowed his eyes. "So, you think you can handle Brock's real team?"

Asier shrugged. "Let's just say I like my chances."

The two exchanged skeptical glances before the shorter one sighed and began typing on his tablet. "Fine, your funeral."

With a dramatic flourish, Asier pressed his Pokéball to the registration scanner, watching the system confirm his entry. The taller trainer shook his head. "The only reason you're getting in so fast is because you're the first one here today. Lucky break."

"Yeah, lucky me," Asier replied with a smirk before heading toward the battle arena. He heard them mutter something about arrogance and overconfidence, but he didn't care. He was ready.

Inside the gym's rocky battlefield, Brock stood waiting. He gave Asier a calm, measured look as the door closed behind him.

"So, you're the first challenger of the day," Brock said, crossing his arms. "You've chosen the True Challenge. That means no holding back. I'll be using my personal Pokémon, not the ones assigned by the League."

Asier nodded, his fingers brushing the Pokéballs on his belt. "That's what I'm here for."

Brock smiled slightly. "I like your spirit. Let's see if your skills match up. A two-on-two battle. I hope you're ready."

Asier's heart pounded in his chest, but he kept his voice steady. "Born ready."

Brock tossed his first Pokéball into the air. "Let's go, Lunatone!"

The rock-psychic type materialized in a flash of light, its crescent-shaped body floating eerily above the ground. Asier already knew this would be a tough battle. Lunatone wasn't just bulky; its psychic abilities would make it a nightmare to deal with.

"Pidgeotto, you're up!" Asier called, tossing his Pokéball. His bird Pokémon appeared, wings flared, ready for action. Pidgeotto was fast, agile, and after days of grueling training, stronger than ever.

Brock didn't waste time. "Lunatone, start off with Rock Slide!"

The gym floor trembled as rocks ripped from the ground, flying toward Pidgeotto at high speed. "Dodge it with Quick Attack!" Asier shouted.

Pidgeotto zipped through the air, narrowly avoiding the incoming barrage. Its speed was incredible, but Asier knew it couldn't dodge forever. He needed to go on the offensive.

"Steel Wing, now!" Pidgeotto's wings shimmered with a metallic gleam as it dove toward Lunatone, wings slicing through the air.

"Lunatone, Psychic!" Brock commanded.

Just before Pidgeotto could land its hit, Lunatone's eyes glowed blue. Pidgeotto was suddenly stopped mid-air, caught in a psychic grip. Asier gritted his teeth. "Break free! Use Quick Attack with Steel Wing again, push through!"

Pidgeotto strained against the psychic force, its wings glowing brighter. With a powerful burst of energy, it broke free, slashing down on Lunatone. The hit landed, sending Lunatone reeling, but the damage wasn't enough to end the fight.

Brock's expression remained calm. "Lunatone, Ice Beam."

A chilling blast of energy shot from Lunatone's mouth, aimed directly at Pidgeotto. Asier's heart skipped a beat. "Dodge!"

Pidgeotto tried to veer out of the way, but the beam clipped one of its wings, ice spreading across its feathers. It screeched in pain, spiraling down before catching itself in mid-air.

"Steel Wing, one more time!" Asier called, his voice tense. Pidgeotto shot forward again, wings glowing with metallic energy. It hit Lunatone hard, the force finally sending the rock-type crashing to the ground.

"Lunatone! I believe in you! Get up and use Rock Slide and Psychic."

The rock-psychic type displayed the strengths of its typing and immediately summoned forth large boulders that fell towards Pidgeotto. Lunatone's eyes once again glowed blue as it controlled the falling rocks and began changing their trajectory, all towards its opponent.

"Use Quick Attack to get away then use Twister as a shield!" Asier quickly commanded after formulating a plan.

Pidgeotto managed to evade the majority of the rocks but was still hit by small pebble size ones thanks to Lunatone's formidable control. Despite taking the damage, the flying type stood strong and flapped its red glowing wings rapidly, forming a twister in front of it that billowed fiercely.

The strong winds pushed against the incoming rocks causing Lunatone to strain its psychic powers. Eventually, it wasn't able to keep up its attack combo and was forced to let the large boulders fall to the ground.

However, before anyone could blink, Pidgeotto suddenly appeared behind Lunatone, wings glowing a silvery hue. The flying type smacked the moon shaped Pokemon straight into the ground, sending it to dreamland.

"Not bad," Brock said, recalling Lunatone. "Pidgeotto managed to learn Agility and combine it with Quick Attack before striking with such blinding speed. I have to say you are one skilled trainer with equally talented Pokemon. But don't get too confident. Onix, you're up!"

"You are one great flying type Pidgeotto. It won't be long until you rule the skies."

"PIDGEEEOT!" The flying type cried out.

The massive rock snake appeared with a deafening roar, its stone body towering over the battlefield. Pidgeotto, despite its fatigue, glared defiantly at its new opponent.

"Pidgeotto, are you ready?" Asier asked quietly. Pidgeotto gave a fierce cry again, determined to continue despite its injuries.

"Onix, Bind!" Brock ordered.

Onix's tail whipped forward, wrapping around Pidgeotto, squeezing it tight. Pidgeotto struggled, its wings pinned to its sides. Asier's mind raced. He needed to act fast.

"Steel Wing, cut through!"

Pidgeotto's wings glowed again, slicing into Onix's rocky coils. It managed to break free, but it was clearly exhausted. Asier knew pushing it any further would be a mistake.

Before Onix could strike again, Asier held up a hand. "Pidgeotto, that's enough."

Pidgeotto turned, glaring at him in defiance, its body trembling with the effort of staying airborne.

"I know you can take him," Asier said softly. "But this one's on me. I made mistakes earlier, and you took the hit for them. It's not your strength that's lacking, it's my judgment. You've done enough."

Pidgeotto hesitated for a moment before giving a reluctant nod. With a soft cry, it allowed itself to be recalled, disappearing back into its Pokéball.

Asier pulled out his next Pokéball, his expression hardening. "Furret, you're up."

Furret appeared, its sleek body ready for battle. Asier wasn't going to let his mistakes cost him the match.

"Furret, Agility and Focus Energy!"

Furret blurred with speed, its body glowing as it concentrated its power. Onix watched warily, its eyes following Furret's every movement.

"Onix, Rock Throw!"

Boulders hurtled through the air toward Furret, but Asier was ready. "Quick Attack, dodge and counter with Slash!"

Furret darted around the rocks with ease, its claws glowing as it zipped toward Onix, landing a flurry of powerful slashes across the rock snake's body. Onix roared in pain, unable to keep up with Furret's blinding speed.

"Keep up the pressure, Furret!" Asier called. "Quick Attack and Slash, don't give it time to recover!"

Furret danced around Onix, slashing away at its weak points. Onix swung its tail in desperation, but Furret was too fast, dodging every attack with ease. Finally, after a brutal barrage of hits, Onix collapsed, unable to continue.

Brock recalled his fallen Pokémon, a small smile playing on his lips. "That was an impressive display, Asier. You've got some serious skill."

Asier gave a weary smile, recalling Furret. "Thanks. My team worked hard for this."

Brock approached him, handing over the Boulder Badge. "You earned this. And the prize money, of course."

Asier pocketed the badge, his heart racing with excitement. "Thanks, Brock. That was tougher than I expected."

"You're a strong trainer," Brock said. "Keep training like that, and you'll go far. If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been a trainer?"

"Uh…not sure. Probably around a week."

Brocks eyes, which were normally so small that one could barely tell if they were open, suddenly opened wide in shock! "Only a week. I have to say Asier…to be able to train your Pokemon to such a degree in such a short time frame to take on my real team…you are something else. Here take this TM as a gift as well. I only gift it to trainers I feel are worthy of it. It has the move, Rock Tomb…although I never managed to use this move on you."

With a nod, Asier took the TM. "Thanks Brock." He then turned and left the gym, the Boulder Badge clutched tightly in his hand. The first of many.

He didn't let Brock's praise reach his head…rather he let it go through one ear and out the other. The reason being is because it always worked like that in the novels where the protagonist becomes over confident and complacent due to a string of victories resulting in getting a hard lesson later on when they are crushed by someone and forced to learn a valuable lesson.

Well, he intended to keep those lessons he learned second hand to heart rather than learn it after being defeated. Not to mention, despite feeling his road was so smooth so far, he felt like there were going to be bigger challenges coming ahead.

He wanted to catch LOTS of Pokemon and train up an army, not just to be able to take on anyone in a full six on six battle but also to have an army to call upon if things ever got rough. Given that Ash was just starting on his journey, there would be a lot of shit that guy goes through and too many world ending situations. Heck even the battle with Mewtwo along with the three birds and Lugia would come around soon. He needed to get extremely powerful in a short time frame and for that he not only needed to train but also to earn a lot of money.

"15000 fucking Pokemon Dollars just from beating Brock's real team. This is a good amount of money but still not enough!"

Asier began making his way to the Pokemon Center to call over his Pokemon being held at the Viridian City Pokemon center to get acquainted with them and start training them too. Then he would rush into Mt Moon and evolve Clefable and get some more Moon Stones, both as a way to get Nidoking and Nidoqueen, whose base form he would catch soon but also as a potential way to earn money.

So much grinding to do…

I'm quite new to writing hence want advice as to specific things I'm doing wrong and need to avoid, some things I need to improve on and maybe develop some sort of writing style?

Not sure but any type of constructive criticism is appreciated!

Also if anyone has suggestions for the pairings with the OC, leave those ideas and the why in the review section.

I will be having Asier catch lots of Pokemon, not an extreme amount but still a large variety. If there are particular Pokemon you wish to see in the story, please just let me know in reviews.
