Toriko: Namu's Buffet
Chapter 25
"Frozen Footwork"
Namu felt the frigid cold covering his hands. He was hesitant to put on his gloves, as that would mean further restricting his power by being unable to secrete his metal from his hands. However, if he didn't put them on, he would risk losing his hands altogether.
Namu sighed.
"Can't taste the Century Soup if I don't have hands to hold a spoon." he joked to himself as he began to put on the gloves.
"Don't worry about it." Tsubaki smiled. "It's not like we'll need your full power for this. We have plenty of others that can help."
"You're probably right. Can never be too careful though."
Suddenly, there was a voice coming from a megaphone. It was the same short man that gave Namu and Tsubaki their Rider Suits.
"Attention! The helicopter for the first group is about to take off. If you are in the first group, please get ready."
"You ready, partner?" Namu asked.
"Always ready." Tsubaki replied emphatically.
As Namu got onto the helicopter, he turned around for a moment and saw a person in a mask. The person was tall and of lean build. The mask had what appeared to be a "V" in the center.
"Is that who I think it is? Why would he be here?" Namu wondered.
"Something wrong?" Tsubaki asked.
"Hmm? Oh, I just thought I saw someone I knew. It's nothing, really."
"Due to the extreme winds, we can not bring the helicopter any higher. You'll have to climb up from here." said the pilot over the intercom.
Namu and Tsubaki began climbing the ice wall, occasionally looking towards both each other, and the other Bishokuya to make sure everyone was safe.
After some time, they made over the wall. What they saw shocked them
A massive dragon beast, bearing its razor sharp teeth at them in a frightening manner.
"Wait a minute. This guy's frozen stiff." Toriko said.
Namu looked at the beast more closely and realized Toriko was right. Just then Namu looked around to see many frozen Bishokuya.
"These poor people." Tsubaki said, saddened by the tragic loss of so many lives.
As Namu looked at the frozen hunters, he saw one in a rather relaxed position, as if the hunter had died while taking a nap.
"That's weird. Why would someone lie down in such horrific weather? I guess he wanted to be immortalized as some sort of statue."
As the group continued their trek to the center of the continent, massive spikes of ice came flying towards them.
"Look out!" Namu yelled, as he jumped in front of Tsubaki.
"NAMU!" She screamed before smelling iron. Tsubaki looked up to see Namu's face covered in steel, and several chunks of broken ice on the ground.
"Look at that. I can still use my steel for something." Namu grinned as he pulled Tsubaki up from the snow.
Later.
The sky was beginning to get dark, and the air was getting even colder.
"We should probably make camp somewhere." Namu suggested.
"Oh yeah? How do you suppose we do that?" Said one member of the group.
"Leave that to me." Toriko said as he began flexing his muscles.
"KNIFE!" He yelled, hurling several knives of Appetite Energy into the ground in the shape a square.
"FORK!" He yelled again, as he pried a large chunk of ice out of the ground.
"Get in, everyone. This hole should keep us safe from the winds, at least."
Just then, Tsubaki noticed a tree not far from where they were.
"How's a tree able to survive in this environment?"
As she walked closer, she noticed that the tree bore what appeared to be white beans. Suddenly she remembered reading about a type of cocoa bean that only grew in frigid temperatures, the "Snow White Cocoa Bean".
Tsubaki smiled. She had never tried the exquisite flavor of Snow White chocolate, but this was her chance. Tsubaki estimated the Capture Level to be a little over 20. Tsubaki climbed the tree, pulled out her knife, and collected all the beans she could before heading back to the camp with an excited smile on her face.
A little while earlier.
As Bogie, Barry, and Tommyrod made themselves known to each other, they were greeted by another. The man was tall, muscular and had purple skin, with cyan marking on his shoulders and upper arms. The man was shirtless, but wore a pair of brown pants tucked into black boots, and a black chef's toque on his head, which complimented his light colored hair. But by far his most defining characteristic was his bird-like beak.
"If it isn't 7th Branch Chief, Sarco." Tommyrod greeted.
"No time for games. We have a soup to capture." Sarco said, bluntly.
End of Chapter.
Author's Note: Does anyone even read these? Anyway, hope you guys liked this one, I tried to make it a little longer. I hope you guys like Sarco, he's gonna be Namu's opponent. Also, if you guys could suggest a cool ability for Sarco, I'd like to hear it. The only powers I can think of are either water powers (mostly shooting high pressure water from his body), or telekinesis. If y'all can think of something better, let me know (if you want).
Until next time.
JA NE!
