The situation in Amarant wasn't cautious, the vampires were nervous because their king was fighting for his life and their princess has been missing for a month. It was already dark night as they say there, Mara, Selene's aunt and younger sister of the Vampire King looked out a window at the atmosphere of her people, she was in the throne room until a group of elderly white-haired vampires entered the place, there were 4 in total, with elegant gothic clothes.
Yes, they were the Vampire Council of Kyuketsu, if the king was not available, they helped make decisions, in addition to suggesting to the king what he needed to do, one of them, the leader of the council called Donovan, with his hair back and with small glasses that barely covered part of his eyes, addressed the vampire.
"A month and we still haven't been able to find the princess. It's necessary that you take her place as Vampire Queen." Says the old man while raising his eyebrow in a questionable way.
"I know that, but I don't know where she really is exactly" Mara knew that, but it was part of the plan to pretend that she didn't, to avoid them finding Selene quickly. After all, they had a Dimensional Gate in their possession, the moment they knew its location, it was predictable that they would send some guards to look for her to bring her back to Amarant and her graduation ceremony where the council members would make their position official with a bat-shaped magentun necklace that all the leaders wore, and if that happened it would be irreversible, at least until the new king or queen dies.
"I understand if you think she ran away, you never let her be a child, you filled her with pressure for being the heiress and knowing that her destiny was near she did what a common pre-teen would do when on the verge of pressure from an enormous responsibility" Mara exhales "Why don't we save ourselves the trouble of announcing her ceremony and take me instead and do one quickly? Remember that if you announce Selene's ceremony, you'll have to search for her for 2 months and we don't know where she is. Scarlet Moon is on the move and surely you must have already found out that Selene is missing and will want to hurt her"
"For that same reason everything has to be according to Amarant traditions, Lady Mara. Pressure or not, the princess must fulfill her destiny if tradition requires it. We have deployed guards and search teams to find her, she must be somewhere on this planet. And if we find out that she went to another planet, we will use the gate if necessary" Donovan looks at the vampiress in disbelief.
"By the way. How is my brother? He sure doesn't have time left" Mara asks as she wipes a tear with a handkerchief.
"That's also a topic I wanted to touch on. Vasilescu Caleb, the King of Vampires, was in a sorry state, but it seems that what was weakening him was his food. It seems that the blood used for the preparation was being mixed with vervain powder, a poisonous flower for vampires and that is only found on the other side of the planet. They managed to arrest one of the cooks who was part of Scarlet Moon. Also, you have to congratulate your son."
Donovan smiles. "He's an intelligent child. The vervain was so hidden by being mixed with other ingredients that hid its presence, that not even the best doctors we have could find it and give the diagnosis. That young man will be a great doctor one day."
"Did Zurie find the problem?" Mara was shocked but smiled anyway "That's amazing"
"Still, we believe that Caleb is no longer fit to be the Vampire King, he has ingested large amounts of vervain that if he weren't a first class vampire, he would have already died. That is why we proposed to go ahead and we have announced the titling ceremony for Princess Selene even though she is already undergoing detoxification treatment that will take years, Caleb accepted and asked that we look for his daughter, we have 2 months to find her and for her to become the Vampire Queen"
Mara sighs in relief "I-I am very glad that my brother is out of danger, it's better that he leaves the position if he was poisoned in that way, his body has suffered very sensitive damage if we talk about vervain. But are you sure about the ceremony?"
"The announcement has already been made, and we are preventing the population from knowing that she ran away. The last thing we need is to create panic and increase uncertainty. We have said in the announcement that she mysteriously disappeared due to some problem that we are investigating, which is not entirely a lie." Donovan nods towards his group and they begin to walk away. "Leave everything in our hands, Lady Mara."
The group of elderly vampires leave the throne room, leaving the woman surprised, who only exhales, "The plan has become complicated. Thank goodness they don't know that Selene is on Earth. Still, we must take precautions. Everything must go well." Walking through the dark corridors illuminated by lights made of magentun, the vampire approaches a large door. It was Zurie's room, her son. She opens the door and with the speed that characterizes vampires, she approaches the boy who was at his desk reading some books on vampire medicine. "I've already been told what you did Zurie, that you were able to figure out what happened to your uncle Caleb."
The young vampire is frightened by his mother's presence, quickly closing his book. "M-mother! W-well, yes, I couldn't help it. I was worried about my uncle and I was curious to know what was wrong with him and... and..."
"Relax, my boy. I'm not upset with you. In fact, every day I'm surprised by your intelligence. Unlike your older brothers who are stubborn, you're going to have a great future. I'm your mother and believe me, I'll assure you of that." With affection, the vampire hugs her son from behind with her fingers pointed. "But haven't you said more, right? We don't want your cousin to be in more trouble, right?"
Zurie just exhales deeply with a downcast look. "No, mother, I didn't say anything. I'm not going to interrupt the plan you have with Selene."
Lady Mara smiles satisfied and releases her youngest son and pokes him on the nose. "Well done, son, that's what you have to do. Keep reading, your mother will go visit your uncle to see how he is."
The vampire quickly walks away, closing the door to the room. Zurie sighs once more, as if the situation had overwhelmed him. Maybe it was the concern for his uncle's health or how his cousin was on another planet. The young vampire looks from one side to the other and opens the last drawer, revealing a small magentun interspatial communicator. Kyuketsu had technology almost similar to that of the 22nd century on Earth.
He remembers having a conversation with Selene through that communicator that could connect to the vampire's escape pod. She had happily told him how she met a couple of earthlings who had helped her and welcomed her into their home, especially because of the human boy she met, although she also said how guilty she felt for having fed on him. "A human who can be able to mentally communicate with a vampire?"
The young vampire remembers what his cousin told him while he imagines her smiling.
"Even though we couldn't understand each other's words, we were able to understand each other with our eyes. When we first met, I felt like Nobita and I were lifelong friends. It reminds me of a dream I had when I woke up on Earth. I don't know what it was, but I'm so glad that he and his robot friend were the ones who found me. Even though I did what I did, he understood me. That made me so happy. I hope we can still be friends even when I have to go home."
"I've read in vampire psychology books that there's a possibility that a vampire and a being of another species can have a bond even without meeting each other, to the point that they can dream about each other and communicate with each other within their minds without the need for the first class vampire to use telepathy, although it's a 1% chance since the most normal thing for that bond to be between 2 vampires by birth or species turned into vampires. Is it fate or a coincidence?"
Zurie looks out the window and smiles "Nobita, huh? He has to be a human who understands the feelings of others so well that he's been able to obtain that bond with her, that makes me curious. It makes me feel calmer that at least now she has a couple of allies there to protect her from Scarlet Moon's tricks, if this is what she wants, I'm not going to force her."
"The bond between a human and a vampire, sounds a bit fanciful but not impossible. Other vampires her age haven't been so friendly with her except for their interest in being the heiress, but she came to Earth and obtained a bond with a human, that's good. I just hope you find that peace of mind you need in that world, Selene."
