Moving Forward- chapter 2

Angela headed back over to the house and spent the rest of the afternoon working in her home office, if you could call it working. She found herself daydreaming every few minutes- the feel of his hands, his lips, his… everything. Her focus was completely gone by late afternoon so she decided to come and sit in the living room and read a magazine.

Jonathan stumbled into the living room and sat down on the opposite side of the sofa. Sam soon joined them but only momentarily as she had plans tonight with friends. She confirmed her plans with Angela including her curfew before heading back upstairs.

Jonathan just sat there looking bored out of his mind. She wished Tony were around for the night but she knew he had plans with Philly. She was very excited to start figuring out what was exactly going on between the two of them but she had to remember that there were two other kids in the picture who needed the attention of both of the adults in their lives.

When Tony walked through the kitchen door into the living room, Jonathan wasn't the only one whose face lit up at Tony's presence. It was short lived when he found out what she already knew, that he had plans with Philly. She could tell Tony was disappointed too, even before bringing up 101 Dalmatians. Samantha's comment on the way out seemed like the nail in the coffin but he still ended up heading out.

She was completely distracted throughout the movie with Jonathan. Between trying to keep an eye on him six rows and five seats away from her in the theater and her constant thoughts of what Tony might be doing right then and there, she totally and completely missed the movie. Jonathan had to come find her as the credits were rolling. In a moment of weakness, she agree to take Jonathan to Bongo Burger before heading home.

Once she had sent Jonathan up to bed and waited up for Samantha, she decided to head into the living room. She was engrossed in an episode of Little House on the Prairie when a knocking from the back door startled her; she wasn't sure which startled her more, the door knocking or how excited she was at the possibility of it being Tony.

What she didn't expect was Philly standing at her door. She panicked that something had happened to Tony, her heart racing at the possibility of something bad happening to him. She was instantly relieved that he was fine, although she could tell Philly was still upset. She had to stifle laughter at Philly's reaction to Tony's 'problems'.

She nearly lost it with his comment about doing the horizontal mambo. If he only knew what was going on over the past twenty four hours. There was something endearing about Philly; he was sensitive and caring in his own unique way. Once he left, she sat back down at the kitchen table, thinking about everything that had transpired over the past day. She made a decision she wasn't sure if she would end up regretting. She headed upstairs, checking on the kids, both of whom had fallen asleep. She came back downstairs and double checked that the front door was locked. She grabbed the keys to the back door and let herself out, making sure the door was securely locked. She walked up the driveway to the stairs and was soon knocking gently on his door.

"Angela? Are you okay?" he asked when he saw her standing there. She could hear the ending credits to Little House on the Prairie in the background.

"Yes! Everything is fine! The kids are asleep. I… I was finishing up in the kitchen and I saw your light on. Just wanted to see if you were okay" she said.

"Oh, okay! Yeah, Philly had to turn in early. He's no match for the wild man Micelli!" he said as he leaned into the door frame.

"Any chance I could come in? It's a little chilly out here…" she said as she rubbed her arms.

"Oh yes of course! C'mon in before you freeze!" he said as he ushered her inside. He led her over to the sofa and pulled the hideous blanket Philly got him to cover her up.

"Don't worry Angela! I washed it since the party!" he chuckled as he saw her give the blanket a slightly disgusted look.

"Oh okay good! This blanket isn't all that big so I guess we will need to sit closer to make sure we both stay warm…" she said as she lifted the blanket for him. He quickly sat down and pulled the blanket over both of them has they both snuggled into one another. As they got comfortable, another episode of Little House on the Prairie came on the television.

"I love this show! I could watch it over and over again!" he said as he wrapped his arm around Angela.

"So… do you think Michael Landon's hair is real?" she asked as she looked up at him.

"That's what your wondering?" he asked her, unable to comprehend her question when all he could think about was how beautiful she looked.

"Well… that and just how soft are your lips. See, my memory isn't so good and I've forgotten already…" she said in a deep voice, a smile creeping across her face.

"Well wonder no more Angela…" he said as he captured her lips with his own. Her hands found the sides of his face as his wandered around her back. Neither knew when it happened, but soon they were reclined back on the sofa, the ugly blanket thrown somewhere in a heap on the floor.

"Tony… Tony… I really need… need to go home…" she finally said. The credits were again rolling for Little House on the Prairie.

"Yeah… I guess…" he said in between kisses. He momentarily wondered where the restraint he had built up over the past few years went as he could barely keep his hands off of Angela. Finally, he sat back up, knowing a cold shower was in his immediate future.

"They told us tonight that 101 Dalmatians was being held over an extra night. If we can figure out childcare, would you want to come with me?" she asked as she played with the buttons on his shirt.

"I'd love to… maybe we could ask Samantha to babysit Jonathan. I do think we need to come up with some sorta cover story though… they will wonder why we are going to see a kids movie together without them!" he chuckled as he gently tugged on the edge of her blouse.

"Alright… how about you say you have another night out on the town with Philly and I've got a girls' night with Isabelle. We can meet at the movie theater…" she said.

"It's a date…" he said as he started a new round of kissing and exploring her body.

The next morning, Tony was up early. A cold shower only went so far; he found himself on the streets of Fairfield by six in the morning. He was hoping the run would also give him sometime to clear his mind and really start to think about how things were going with Angela and more importantly, where they were going. His thoughts were even more jumbled than when he started his run. It took him two turns at breakfast before he made something that wasn't burnt.

"Morning Dad! What smells in here?" asked Samantha as she came into the kitchen. Jonathan and Angela were right behind her.

"Yeah Tony! It smells like a fire pit in here!" said Jonathan as he took a seat.

"I… left the bacon on too long that's all! C'mon eat up! I've got to get ahead on my chores! I'm going out again tonight with Philly and the guys!" he said as he gave Angela a quick glance.

"Again Tony? But it's Sunday night! I wish I got to go out on a school night!" complained Jonathan.

"I won't be out too late. Just making the most of the weekend that's all…" he said.

"Speaking of making the most of the weekend… Isabelle and I are going for an early dinner tonight. Samantha, is there any chance you can watch Jonathan?" she asked.

"And just Jonathan! No one else allowed in the house!" said Tony firmly as he plated the kids' breakfast.

"Sure Angela! I've got a paper to work on for school anyway" she said as she started eating.

"Good" said Tony and Angela simultaneously. They shared surprised looks as they quickly looked away and pretended to be busy.

"So Jonathan, do you have any homework to still work on?" asked Angela as she took a sip of her coffee.

"I need to work on my science fair project that's due at the end of the week. Tony, can you still help me with it?" he asked as he put another piece of bacon in his mouth.

"Of course buddy! I'm not leaving until later in the afternoon so we can carve out some time after lunch!" he said as he sat down with his food. Just then, Mona walked in through the back door.

"Greetings poor family members stuck living in squalor! How does the other half still live?" asked Mona as she made herself a plate of food.

"Mother! What are you doing here?" she asked as she came over and gave her a hug.

"Don't go messing up my breakfast now! I just came by to pick up some more of my stuff! And maybe to see how the four of you were managing on your own. So Tony… how's the bachelor pad?" she asked with a wink and a smirk.

"It's nice having my own place…" he said as he thought of his make out session with Angela the night before.

"Oh I bet you do… seen any action yet?" she asked as she watched Tony nearly choke on his eggs and bacon.

"Mother! Enough! Tony are you alright?" she asked as she came over to him, patting his back. That might have helped his choking, but it was starting to cause another set of problems for Tony as his heart skipped a beat at her touch.

"Yes… yes I'm fine…" he said after coughing a few more times and then taking a big sip of juice. Mona just smirked as she watched the tenderness between the two of them that wasn't there quite as much before she left. She made a mental note to keep an extra eye on them during her visit.

"Well… give it time Tony… I'm assuming you've got some plans with the guys tonight?" asked Mona as she continued to eat her breakfast.

"Dad's heading out again tonight! And Angela is heading out with friends too. You wanna spend the night with us?" asked Samantha.

"Well I don't have to head back to the hotel until later tonight so sure why not? How about we go see a movie and then get pizza?" asked Mona.

"No!" they shouted simultaneously.

"I… I mean it's a school night Mother! Jonathan and I went to the movies last night. Get in a pizza but stay home" said Angela.

"Party poopers… fine! C'mon kids, let's go to the video store and pick up a few movies, popcorn and candy! We will check out a few different options Ma and Pa Ingalls over there will approve… and maybe some they won't…" she said as she she led Samantha and Jonathan out the back door, leaving Angela and Tony alone in the kitchen. Neither one of them felt comfortable talking until they could hear the sound of the car backing out of the driveway.

"Do you think she suspects anything?" asked Tony.

"She's Mother… of course she suspects something! Do I think she knows for sure something is going on between us? No…" she said.

"Good… I figure it's just a matter of time before she figures it out. Her not living at home will give us some time but not by much…" he said. Angela walked around to where he was still sitting.

"Well then we need to make the best of it…" he said as he pulled her into his lap. They locked eyes as she ran her fingers through his hair. His hands were slowly rubbing her back and her thigh. She leaned into him until they were mere inches apart.

"Let's make the best of it…" she whispered as she captured his lips with her own.

"Alright kids… and Mother… I won't be home too late. Samantha, make sure Mother behaves herself as much as possible…" she said as she kissed both kids goodbye before walking out the front door. Tony agreed to meet her in the mall parking lot near the house. They would take Angela's car and leave Tony's to head to the movie theater. They decided to pick a theater two towns over so they could hopefully ensure as much privacy as possible.

"Fancy meeting you here…" said Tony as he watched her get out of her car. He was leaning up against his van with his arms crossed and one leg crossed over the other. He was in a pair of nice jeans and a dress shirt. She had thoughts of skipping the movie altogether and spending the afternoon in the backseat of his van.

"Well I was just out for a spin in the neighborhood…" she said as she stepped towards him. They agreed to no public displays of affection until they were inside the movie theatre. It was all he could do not to reach out and pull her into the backseat of his van. She was wearing a beautiful spring dress that hugged her body in all the right places. He was drawn to slit in the dress that came up higher than most of her dresses. His eyes moved upwards to the low cut top, lingering for a few moments before making eye contact.

"The movie starts in a half an hour so we probably should head out" he said as he came around the car and opened up the passenger side door. She got into the car as he headed around to the driver's side. He quickly took them out of the parking lot and onto the highway. Twenty minutes later, they were pulling into the theater's parking lot. It took every bit of strength in him not to wrap his arm around her waist as they headed inside. Tony bought them two tickets as they headed to the concession stand.

"Let's grab some popcorn and candy! I want something chocolate… how about you?" she asked.

"That sounds good. You wanna share a drink?" he asked as they got up to the counter. She nodded in agreement as they quickly put in their orders. Soon, they were walking into the darkened theater. There were plenty of seats available, but they chose the last row all the way in the back.

"You think we will be able to see the movie from back here?" she asked as she put her hand on his thigh. She picked up a piece of popcorn and slowly put it up against her lips before putting it in her mouth. He felt the blood start to leave his brain and travel south.

"If we see any of the movie, something went wrong Angela. Something went very wrong…" he said as he took a piece of popcorn and placed it in his mouth. They continued to eat their snacks as the coming attractions began to run. Finally the lights dimmed as the movie began.

"I don't think we will need these anymore…" he said as he took the snacks and popcorn and put it on the empty seat next to him. The glow from the screen illuminated her face as he brought his hand up to her cup her cheek.

"You're so beautiful Angela, so beautiful…" he said as he leaned over for a kiss. Her hands soon found the front of his shirt, caressing his muscles through the fabric. His hands found the slit in her dress. He relished the fact she opted out of pantyhose and could spend the next one hundred and nineteen minutes feeling her soft, exposed skin.

"Thank god this theater is empty!" she whispered in between kisses. She began kissing down his jaw and down to his neck, causing Tony to let out a not so quiet moan. Two could play at this game he thought as his hands slid up her long legs towards her torso and finally landed on her chest.

"I'm very glad this theater is empty Angela… very…" he said as he captured her lips again with passionate kisses. They spent the rest of the movie acting like horny teenagers. Tony pulled back at the final scene of the movie, both because it was his favorite part but more importantly to give him some time to cool off before risking being arrested for indecent exposure.

"This really is my favorite part… coming home again…" he said as he gave her one last kiss as the movie ended. They walked hand in hand out of the theater and to the car, breaking their no physical contact rule. By the time they pulled up back to Tony's van, they hadn't broken contact with one another.

"This… this was wonderful Tony. I hope we can do it again soon…" she said as she leaned back against the seat.

"I don't think I can't wait very long to do it again Angela. I'm already missing you, missing this…" he said.

"Maybe we can figure out something soon, like you could pick me up from work and we could do dinner in the city. Maybe we could arrange for the kids to do a sleepover at one of their friends' houses so we could have a date night in!" she practically squealed.

"Sounds perfect Angela! Let's do Thursday night. Both kids have extracurricular activities until late and I will make sure to leave them with a dinner they can have without me. So it's a date!" he said as he leaned over and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

"It's a date! Alright I should head home and make sure the house is still standing. This really was wonderful Tony! I loved it…" she said as she squeezed his hand and reluctantly got out of the car. Tony walked over to the van and got in, watching to make sure she got out of the parking lot okay before pulling out of his spot.

She arrived home a few minutes later. She could see the lights were dimmed in the living room but the television was still on. It was only eight at night so she imagined all three were still wide awake as she opened the door.

"Mom! How was your night?" he asked as he turned his attention back to the horror scene on television.

"It was lovely sweetheart but what are you watching? Mother! I told you to find something appropriate!" she shouted as she turned off the television.

"What? It's a holiday movie!" said Mona as she rolled her eyes.

"Halloween isn't exactly a holiday movie Mother! And it's spring not fall! Alright you two up to bed!" she said as she kissed them both goodnight.

"So… how was your evening with… Isabelle was it?" asked Mona, the tone in her voice causing Angela to pause. She knew that tone and nine times out of ten it meant she was in trouble.

"My evening was wonderful Mother. It was great catching up with a… friend" she said. She hoped this was the end of the conversation so she could reheat some of their pizza. Popcorn, snacks and sodas wouldn't last her until tomorrow, especially after her make out session with Tony.

"That's good dear… oh by the way… Isabelle called earlier and wanted to know if you were free for lunch next Saturday…" she said with a smug expression on her face.
