Don't believe this... Jotaro, expelled?!" Holly Kujo cried out upon seeing the notice of expulsion that was sent to the Joestar household from Jotaro's high school. She wanted to cry. He may have been a bit of a troubled kid, some would even call him a delinquent, but expulsion? Even the explanation of her once-debilitating illness (in truth caused by her inability to wield her Stand, but for obvious reasons they wouldn't be telling the school board about that) wasn't a sufficient reason for his overwhelming absence from class and myriad assaults on his teachers. Across the room from his dejected mother, Jotaro Kujo silently slumped back against the wall as he read a Shonen Jump magazine, without a care in the world. It was like it didn't even matter to him.
From that point forward, numerous phone calls were made to a variety of school districts in Japan. The results were, to say the least, displeasing. One of two things occurred; either they claimed to have no vacancies, or they immediately denied Jotaro entry upon hearing of his extensive history of lawlessness and battery. Looking down upon the last school on her calling list, Holly sighed. Gekkoukan High School, on Tatsumi Port Island. Not only was it a good bit far away, but many rumors have begun to circulate regarding a phenomenon of people in the area going into an apathetic, vegetative state. In truth, she didn't exactly want to send him there. But would hearsay really be a valid reason to possibly jeopardize her one-and-only son's future? Of course not! It was highly unlikely they would agree regardless. Reluctantly, Holly called the administrator of Gekkoukan High.
Throughout the course of the call, her face gradually turned from apprehensive, to shocked, and then beaming with glee. Nodding, she hung up and turned to Jotaro.
"JoJo! They said yes! They really said yes!" In spite of her cautious attitude towards Gekkoukan, she was overjoyed to hear the news of Jotaro's acceptance. The reaction of the man himself, however, wasn't even half as excited as his mother. The nonchalant Stand-user turned over and continued to read, while his mother continued to talk on and on.
"I'll have to tell Father ! I'm sure he'll be delighted to hear!" Said she this while walking around the room with excitement and chatting nonstop. Grunting, Jotaro paid her no mind. He hadn't really given a damn about school before, why should he start now? For all he was concerned, he could get some high-paying but laborious job and easily handle it with Star Platinum's immense physical strength. But his mother was hellbent on him going back, and even his grandfather wanted him to. Which was, now that he thinks about it, pretty hypocritical, given there's nothing that old man hates more than hard work. "There's an open dorm near the school that they're going to have you staying in," said Holly. "They should be ready to have you transfer by mid-April! There's another transfer student coming in around the same time, so you'll have to miss the welcoming ceremony. I'm going to miss you..."
Three months until he was going to be driven off into a new city he didn't care about for a school didn't want to go to.
"What a pain " said Jotaro
4/3, 5:47 P.M.
Two spectral, deep purple colored arms scooped up a variety of items from Jotaro's room and shoved them into a large backpack, before hastily zipping it up and hurling it over the teenager's shoulder. The essentials; some changes of clothing -- though he'd probably be getting a new uniform for Gekkoukan anyway -- Shonen Jump, his favorite Western movies, and his golden chain. Stepping out into the living room, he was immediately greeted with a hug from Holly.
"I can't believe you're going to live somewhere else, for an entire year... That's more time I've been away from you than ever before! Even when you went on that trip, it didn't last that long..." A tear welled up in her eyes, before she planted a kiss on his cheek (much to Jotaro's chagrin, but at least he had mellowed out at least enough to not call her a 'bitch') and waved goodbye as he walked forward, away from the Kujo household and out towards the train station.
Upon entering the train station, he entered the one heading to the Shin-Toshi station, where his destination, Iwatodai, would be. He really hated these crowded ass train stations -- luckily for him, his absolutely massive build intimidated anybody who would otherwise try and block his path to the train cars. All the annoying ass noise, the chatter and footsteps and bickering made Jotaro wish he brought some goddamn headphones. Taking a seat comfortably (and, unsurprisingly, alone), he took a cigaratte from a box he had in his coat pocket and lit it up, staring out the window wordlessly. In all honesty, he wasn't sure what to think about this whole ordeal. Did it really change anything all that much? He'd spend his time lazing around at school and kicking the shit out of smartass teachers. Nothing new there. But on the other hand, getting sent to this whole new city, away from his house, away from everything he knew -- it was annoying as hell. A puff of smoke was blown from his mouth as he laid his head back, the train growing ever closer by the minute.
4/3, 10:23 P.M.
He awoke to the sound of a voice over a loud speaker, repeating the words "Iwatodai" as a dull ringing sounded throughout the train. Shit, he'd accidentally slept in. With how much of a pain in the ass it'd be to get back there, he might've just skipped out on it and went back home. Thank god he was a light sleeper. The train car doors opened and the extremely tall man stepped out, taking out the map his mother had packed for him and following the directions to get to the dorms. It was one hell of a walk -- not something Jotaro was happy about, but at least there was probably more open space to walk this late. Not that he'd have any problems shoving any slow-walking assholes anyway.
It felt like hours, for how long he was walking down the street towards Gekkoukan High. Bright lights and cars lined the streets, and the sidewalks were spacious and mostly empty of any people other than Jotaro, something he certainly wasn't complaining about. Looking down at his map, he could see from his location that he was just a few minutes away from finally getting to his destination. Took long enough. It had to be nearing midnight, by now -- why did they make the dorms so damn far from the train station? Folding his map and tucking it into his signature black uniform's pocket, as he was close enough by now not to need it, the clock suddenly struck twelve...
4/3: Dark Hour.
"What the hell?"
Is this attack of an enemy stand user.Uttered Jotaro Kujo, as the clock struck twelve and a sudden and confusing change overcame the area. Only a few seconds ago, the sky was a deep black and small groups of people talked amongst themselves as they walked. Cars passed by, and street lights and traffic signals lit up what otherwise would be bleak and desolate streets. But now, the atmosphere's palette was a vile, sickening green; all the lights abruptly shut off, and all of the surrounding people had been replaced by tall, immobile coffins. The first thought that came to Jotaro's mind was a predictable one.
"A stand?!"
It was really the only conclusion that made sense to him, but there were still unanswered questions racing through his head -- what Stand could do something on such a scale? Was it an alternate dimension he was somehow ensnared in? Or could it be an illusion, and the user is hiding behind a cleverly placed object to disguise themselves? Is it something ille Death 13.The possibilities were limitless, and he could spend any number of minutes thinking on them; but his inner speculation on the nature of this event was halted by the sound of… slithering? It sounded like someone was stomping on a wet sponge, then skidding it across the floor. A turn of the head quickly alerted Jotaro of the sound's perpetrators -- a small group of weird-looking, black colored figures, with half of their bodies submerged within a crimson pool of liquid. Blue masks were on their 'faces' (if you can even call them that), and they were dragging themselves towards him at a sluggish pace.
Confusion washed over him. Whatever those were, it obviously didn't resemble any Stand power he'd seen before. Was some other Stand ability summoning these creatures, in addition to the strange qualities of the night? Jotaro decided that he would have ample time to think about that later; as of now there was a far more pressing matter, and that was killing the freaky creatures. Behind him, Star Platinum was manifested to protect its user, clenching a fist and plunging its knuckles into the masked visage of one of the figures.
"ORA"!
It only took a single punch for the black blob to retch in pain and promptly perish, the superior power was more than enough to easily dispatch of it. An appendage shot from another of the creatures, seeking to take hold of the cap-wearing crusader, only to be grabbed by Star Platinum and torn off, after which two of the monsters were removed from this world by its purple fists. The last of them screeched and died, leaving Jotaro to dispel his Stand for the time being.
But then, as if on cue for the moment he defeated the bastards, the sound of heavy footsteps stomping the pavement began to emanate from the street east of him, along with sudden, earth rumbling shaking. Turning the corner, a silver-haired teenager in a red vest was running for his life from another one of those shadow monsters. It wasn't like the ones Jotaro had fought before; it was bipedal and muscular, shining rainbow braces and belts were worn upon its black body, and red dots were on each of its limbs. The damn thing could probably match even Star Platinum in height and build. It looked like a deathly strong opponent. It was getting dangerously near -- and looking to be increasingly interested in targeting Jotaro.
"Run! Get out of here! What are you just standing around for?!"
The scrappy-looking guy looked almost stupefied at the sight of Jotaro's complete and utter lack of agency to the coming threat, stopping in his tracks and looking in bewilderment at the silent, barely moving man mere moments away from being struck head-on by a freakishly huge muscle-monster.
"Good grief. I can handle myself." A fiery, golden aura appeared around the body of the Stand-user, power coursing through his body as his hands curled into fists. The dark giant's hand winded back to throw a punch, and Star Platinum sprung into action in the blink of an eye, matching blows against its similarly muscled enemy and clashing fists with a loud resulting boom!
"ORA!"
Star Platinum's, and by extension, Jotaro's knuckle stung with pain. He didn't need to look down to see that blood was running down his fingers. He could more than feel that already. It hadn't even been a year since he last fought, and still he couldn't help but feel out-of-touch. The punch he threw was indeed effective at halting its advance, staggering it and causing it to fall over, but its skin felt incredibly durable. It had a flimsy balance, so the knockback was enough to trip it up, but Jotaro had doubts that even Star Platinum could kill it. It was going to attack again, and he wasn't sure he'd be able to kill it alone. But in his battle against the shadowy monster, Jotaro had nearly forgotten about the other person who was there with him. The sound of footsteps behind him had halted, and he turned to see the guy's jaw nearly on the floor, eyes wide in shock.
Akihiko, as much as he hated to admit it, was terrified of that Shadow. He'd seen its kind before; Gigases were among the stronger enemies they had to face, but none of them were anything like this one. Polydeuces could hardly scratch it, and the bolts of lightning he shot only seemed to piss it off more than anything. He was too late to realize fighting it was a fool's mission before it struck him clean in the side, a "snap" sound followed by an incredible pain following it. That was about the time he made the decision to flee. But even just running felt like the most painful feeling in the world, and he was just about ready to pass out by the time he had almost made it to the dorm.
But it was that moment that he saw somebody. A massive, buff man in a black uniform and cap standing a good deal taller than Akihiko -- who himself was already one of the tallest people in Gekkoukan, and he looked almost small compared to this guy! But most notably, he hadn't been transformed into a coffin in the Dark Hour, and that only meant one thing; he had to be a Persona user. That transfer student had the potential too, and Mitsuru had said something about another transfer coming in not long after them. Two new arrivals with the power of Persona? It almost seemed too good to be true.
He quickly snapped back to reality, though; if the new guy didn't start running, he wasn't going to be alive to learn how to use his Persona ability. Akihiko continued his breakneck sprinting from the Gigas dashing towards him, but no matter how close he got, he refused to budge, not even after he called out to him. He wanted to summon Polyphemus, to try and stop the Shadow from attacking him -- but there just wasn't enough time. Even if there was, there was no guarantee it would be strong enough to stop the muscle-freak of a Shadow from pulverizing the both of them!
Akihiko grit his teeth and dashed past the still-as-a-statue man, the dorms close enough for him to escape -- and upon hearing a deafening rumble, turned his head swiftly. Really, he expected to see the Shadow punching the transfer student into orbit, or worse; instead, he saw something far, far more shocking.
A Persona. A ripped, purple Persona somehow even taller than the behemoth who used it. It was strong, too, if the appearance didn't prove that enough; not only did it match strength with the abnormally strong Gigas, it clocked it in the hand with a single punch and nearly sent it flying! And somehow, he had done it all without an Evoker!
"There's no way… you can summon a Persona?!"
"A what?"
He didn't even know what it was? This guy was a total enigma already, and he's only known him for like, thirty seconds! When this was over, he, and most certainly Mitsuru, were going to have a lot of questions to ask him. "Your Persona. That purple thing that just came out of you?" He looked like Akihiko like he just tried to tell him the world was flat. Maybe he just didn't use the same term for it? " … Whatever. You need to come with me to the dorms! There's more people with that same power there. Yours is strong, I can tell, but that Shadow isn't going to be down forever, and I wouldn't count on being able to beat it alone!" He then turned and made a dash for the Iwatodai dorms, turning to see the huge transfer student following in his stead. He hadn't really noticed it before, but there was a surprising amount of blood running down the ends of the fist he used to punch that Gigas -- it must have hurt more than it looked, profusely bleeding like that. He was a real strong guy, no doubt about that, but it looked like even he had limits to what he'd fight alone. He could hear the Shadow getting back up, by the sound of the street shaking, and soon enough both Akihiko and the mysterious new Persona-user were running side by side to the dorms. He quickly rang up the Command Room, being picked up by Mitsuru nigh-instantly.
"Command room. … Is that you, Akihiko?"
"You're not gonna believe this! This thing is huge! But more importantly, there's another Persona-user here! Not only that, but he didn't even use an Evoker!" He could hear the gasps from the other side of the communicator, even with its choppy quality. "Unfortunately, I don't have time to talk… it's chasing us. I just wanted to let you guys know. I'll be right there!"
He hastily cut the communication, continuing his full speed dash towards the entrance to the dorms. There was a good bit of distance between the two of them and the Shadow by now, but it would be idiotic to rest now. The best plan of action was to wait for Mitsuru to come down, and then kill it when all three of them were there. It couldn't take down all of them.
The fact that this random passerby could see Star Platinum led Jotaro to only one conclusion; he was a Stand-user. But for whatever reason, he didn't even attempt to summon his Stand against that monster, and called Star Platinum a 'Persona', and then claimed that there were other people with the same ability in the dorms. It was starting to feel like wherever Jotaro went, Stands would always follow; as if he was a magnet for Stand activity.
In any case, in spite of his Stand's great strength, he had to admit that running away would probably be a smarter move than trying to fight that thing. He was able to briefly knock it down because of its poor balance, sure -- but he injured himself in doing so. He wasn't certain even Star Platinum's power could take it down. If what the silver-haired Stand-user said was true -- and he was inclined to believe it, given that it seemed too weird to be a trap from one of DIO's former followers -- then the combination of their strength should be enough to kill it.
Jotaro took after him as he sprinted towards the dormitory's doors, with the cartoonishly muscular shadow-beast following behind them. When they arrived there, he threw the door open and quickly slammed it shut once they were both inside, and the other guy with him fell to the ground, panting. With the way he moved and acted, it was obvious he'd been busted up pretty bad by that thing, before Jotaro had seen him. With how hard that thing hit, he was surprised he hadn't hurt worse.
He looked up to see three people rushing down the stairs, one of which -- a red-haired woman -- called out the name of the man now resting against the door.
"Akihiko!"
They stood next to him, and didn't pay much mind to Jotaro -- save for a brunette in a pink sweater, who briefly looked up at his incredible height and build in bewilderment.
"I'm alright." The guy he assumed to be Akihiko spoke. "Get ready to be surprised! It'll be here any second!" That remark seemed to anger the stern-looking woman, who immediately chastised him.
"It's one of them, Akihiko?" Another guy, this one with long brown hair and glasses spoke; probably talking about those black figures who were attacking him earlier.
"Yeah, but not an ordinary one... "
Their conversation was suddenly interrupted by the sound of something pounding against the dorm's walls, the immediate area shaking as it did.
"Chairman, please go up to the command room! Takeba, go upstairs and wake them up! You'll be able to escape through the back door!"
"But what about you two? A - And the new guy?"
"We'll stop it here. Akihiko, you led it to us, so I'm afraid you'll have to fight."
A statement Akihiko responded to with much chagrin. "Like I had a choice…"
She then turned to Jotaro, looking up to him with a glare.
"And if what Akihiko says is true, and you really do have a Persona… I don't have a clue how you can bring it forth without an Evoker, but we'll be requiring your assistance as well."
Jotaro probably would have barked back that he doesn't have a 'Persona', but a Stand -- but now wasn't the time for that. There'd be all the time in the world for explanations later; and it was becoming clear that both parties were going to need a lot of explaining once this was done. Star Platinum once again manifested alongside its user, and the supposed Chairman and the Takeba girl bolted upstairs. Akihiko and the red-haired woman drew guns from hidden holsters, and that was enough to get Jotaro to break his long silence.
"Those are going to be useless against an enemy as powerful as that. If you have that ability like you say, then you'd better start showing it."
Akihiko was quick to explain. "You're not getting it. We don't shoot these at the Shadows. We use them to summon our Personas."
The woman who also wielded the same type of gun nodded. "We call it an Evoker. I understand you don't require one to summon yours, but that's not the usual case."
That partially explained it. These 'Persona' things did seem to be different from Stands, but similar, as well -- after all, they can see Star Platinum. Whatever the case may be, they were going to have to be at least somewhat powerful; because that Shadow had just arrived. It burst the door open, shattering the lock and crouching to fit itself into the spacious room in which they stood, as both Evoker-wielders put the barrel of the gun to their head and pulled the trigger.
Cobalt, swirling fog enveloped them as their heads jerked sideways, like the recoil of an actual pistol; and behind them, two spectral entities stood. Behind the woman was a tall, feminine figure with the helmet of a knight and the crown of a queen, two rapiers wielded in each hand. Behind Akihiko, a much bulkier-framed apparition appeared; with a needle in place of a right hand, and long, flowing blonde hair upon its head, half of which was buried in its large torso. The redhead's looked remarkably more threatening, as Akihiko's had rather weak-looking limbs and even the needle it held was a little bit dull for a weapon. The appearance of what Jotaro could only assume to be the Personas did little to phase the colossal Shadow charging towards them, and the bulky monster charged straight towards him, clearly enraged at Jotaro's earlier strike to its arm; which was now cracked apart and dripping with an odd black liquid.
A fist was thrown his way, which he ducked beneath swiftly; Star Platinum's superior speed allowed him to throw multiple punches to the chest of the Shadow in a short time-frame following its whiffed attempt at clocking the Stand-user in the head, the brief attack barrage being completed with an uppercut to its masked face.
"Penthesilea!"
Fractals of bone-chilling air flew from the tip of the Persona's rapiers, which Jotaro avoided by rolling beneath their path of attack and allowing the muscle-monster behind him to be hit directly in the face, a sickening gurgle leaving the Shadow as black goo spurted from its wounds, and ice formed around the spots in which it had been hit. From further back, a bolt of lightning was fired off by the needle-limb of Akihiko's Persona, hitting its opponent square in the stomach. The coordination between them was impressive, and it was clear that this wasn't the first time they've fought.
But in spite of the incredible combination of skills wielded against the brawny beast, it once more stood back up; and this time, appeared even angrier. Its target was no longer Jotaro nor Akihiko, instead choosing to focus on the one who had nearly frozen over its eyes. It charged with the speed and ferocity of a raging bull, and this time didn't stagger one bit, in spite of both Akihiko and the red-haired woman blasting it with more elemental attacks. Both hands formed into fists, and were thrown with intent to hit her directly in the head; something that would cause long-lasting damage, if not death.
But before they could connect, they froze. In fact, everything froze -- save for Jotaro Kujo and his Stand. The ability he had realized after his defeat of DIO; the power to stop time. The five seconds he had of frozen time ticked down, and in that brief frame he pushed her away from the Shadow's knuckles and out of danger, before…
"ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA!"
A barrage of blows were delivered to its torso, and when time resumed it was sent barreling into the air, bellowing and dying. It essentially evaporated into black and red goo, leaving nothing behind to signify it was ever even there. Star Platinum vanished, and Jotaro looked to see the other two people in the room looking on in complete perplexion.
"What on earth was that?"
