On December 31st, The Waterlashes were returning. Skylia drove in looking tired.
"Hey, honey." Skylia says to Gabriel.
"Babe!" Gabriel says as the Foxes sighed.
"Isn't this nice? All 10 of us are celebrating New Year's Eve…" Skylia says.
"Us five have a New Year's Eve event in town." Rachel says. "You can all go with us."
"Oh, yeah, I forgot you five were performing at the party tonight. Along with Luke, Shane, Penny, and Marcy…" Gabriel says. "Per Mayor Charity's request." As well as Garrett, Remy, Beau, Melony, and Melissa."
"The only ones that apparently matter. Figures she never wanted me and my pals." Alem tuber says.
Luke was getting ready. He loved attention; he had a lot of members in his band.
Alem tuber was thinking.
"I'm going to Greendale." he says.
"What about me?" Angry Luigi asked.
"Hmph." Alem tuber says and rushes off.
It took some time as Penny was trying to get back with Shane. And tried to be willing to share him with Sasha.
Alem tuber arrived to see Gem laughing as he groaned.
"Tonight I'll be the star of the Greendale event." Gem says as Sabrina groans. Gem was a spoiled brat.
With Luke, he and Shane were trying on outfits as Marcy was talking to Penny.
"What do you do?" Marcy asked Penny.
Penny shows her hobbies as she and Marcy begin talking like nerds.
Lucy woke up seeing Lisa, Kat, and Ana.
"Wh-huh?" Lucy asked as she felt sick and vomited in a bucket.
"What happened to me?" Lucy asked.
"The cake Luan messed up happened. You ate some of it and didn't tell anyone for 2 weeks." Lisa says
"Yeah, Kat has been taking care of you for 2 hours." Ana says.
"Really?" Lucy asked, groaning. Kat nodded.
The Foxes were trying on the outfits Cynthia made for them. These were the most flashy outfits they had. Their names were on the front in sparkly letters and the back read Fox Quints in sparkly letters.
Everyone was excited to see Luke and his friends. And the Foxes, too.
Lincoln glared at Luan. "Luan, you got Lucy sick because of the cake prank."
"I'm sorry I just wanted to do a prank and I already got punished for that." Luan says. "I also have to miss cooking camp during spring break because of it."
"She sure has been punished for this. Quit making her relive it or you will be staying home tonight." Charity says to Lincoln, a stern look in her eyes.
Remy was watching a video of Gem and her men tossing water at Sabrina and the cosmic buddies to humiliate them.
"Ha!" he laughed.
"What's this?" Stephen asked.
"A bunch of videos of Gem. She's pretty famous and people love her." Remy says.
"How famous? Luke level?" Stephen asked.
"Heavens, no! No one will ever reach Luke and the Foxes' level and also Shane." Remy says, fist bumping Garrett, Beau, and Stephen.
"True." Stephen says.
Soon, the event was set to start in 2 hours.
Luke was rehearsing with Shane, Penny, and Marcy. Luna watched as Luke looked to impress.
The Foxes were practicing their song one last time. Beau, Garrett, Remy, Melony, and Melissa worked on the timing with their routine.
Luna goes to see Sam, who was watching all the groups practice.
"You think we should retire?" Sam asked.
"We aren't at the retirement age, Sam. You know that." Luna says.
"Yeah, maybe we should go on tour again someday." Sam says.
"Luke needs me. My whole family is here for this. And for Shane." Luna says. "Well, except for Lucy, Lisa, Kat, and Ana."
2 hours later, people arrived for the Royal Woods New Year's Eve Royalty celebration, which was taking place at the biggest ballroom in all of Royal Woods.
As everyone was exploring the food tables and admiring the merchandise stands for tonight's music groups, Charity smiled from the stage as she was holding a microphone.
"Hello, Royal Woods! Welcome to our New Year's Eve celebration! Tonight will be a night full of performances, awards, and a bunch of fun! So, without further ado, let's kick things off with our first group to perform tonight!" Charity says.
"Wait, Luna, are we performing?" Sam asked. Luna shook her head.
"Awww…" Sam says as she hadn't performed in a long, long time.
Charity looked down at them.
Garrett was getting ready with his group as they were first.
"Let's do this." He says.
"Yeah!" Remy says.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to introduce our first group of the night…Garrett, Remy, Beau, Melony, and Melissa!" Charity says.
Fans cheered as they came out. They appeared on stage with smiles on their faces. They then start their performance of Trust Fund Baby by Why Don't We.
The crowd loved what they saw. Garrett, Remy, and Beau were a powerful vocal trio.
Garrett wanted Melissa and Melony to try and get a moment, but Melony let the boys have the moment as the fans were in it for them, not her or her sister. Garrett smiled as they continued.
Once they finished, everyone was on their feet, cheering for them. The 5 bow as they walk off.
"Don't worry about me. I'll get my moment someday." Melony tells Garrett.
Luke got ready with his group.
"It's practically a full house tonight." Shane says.
"We're gonna give them a great show!" Penny says.
Marcy got nervous.
"Luke, Luke, Luke!" Fans cheered.
"What would I do if I wasn't famous?" Luke asked himself.
"Shane! Shane! Shane!" More fans cheered.
"Ah, our adoring public awaits!" Shane says.
Charity goes on stage to introduce them.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the stars of this event are about to take the stage! Marcy Wu, Penny Crygor, Shane Loud, and the brightest of them all, my son, Luke Huntington!" Charity says as the crowd was screaming for them.
Luke smiled as he and the group performed Better Place by *NSYNC.
Fans cheered as they sang and danced, and they were surprisingly well-coordinated as they performed.
This was for sure the best performance of the year and the night. Charity smiled as they finished.
There was a break in the performances as Charity was going to present the first five awards of the night. This would give the Foxes time to prepare.
"The first award is the Good Samaritan Of The Year award." Charity says.
Melony was thinking it was going to her after all she did help the cosmic buddies save the day a couple of times
Luke knew it was him. But at this point, it could go to anyone else.
"And the winner is Shane Loud!" Charity says as everyone cheered for Shane.
"Thank you, thank you all!" Shane says as he accepts his award. "What an honor!"
Luke clapped for Shane as bygones were soon bygones according to the family. Sharon and Lance were seeing this through FaceTime, thanks to Penny's laptop.
"Our second award of the night is one that means respect and honor. The Royal Superhero Team Of The Year award. A super award that is only presented in Royal Woods!" Charity says. "And this year, that award goes to…The Fox Quintuplets!"
Gabriel clapped and cheered for his kids. He was very happy for them.
"It will never be us..." Emma sighed, clapping for Pam, who grinned.
"The third award of the night is our Baker Of The Year award. An award that is presented to someone who has filled our joyous events and our stomachs with delight! And it gives me great pleasure to present this award to…Stephen Meyers!" Charity says.
Fans cheered as this was his 15th baking award he won this year.
"Stephen! Stephen! Stephen!" The crowd cheered. Colin and Caroline took pictures of Stephen as he was beaming.
"Way to go, son!" Colin says. Stephen smiled. His parents took pictures of him as he was shedding tears of joy.
"The 4th award is the Music Video Of The Year award. An award that goes to the artist who made the best music video that was viewed in Royal Woods!" Charity says. "This particular video is one that captured the hearts of many citizens of this fair city, and one that really made us dance! Who can guess the person who wins this?"
"Luke!" One person says.
"Penny!" Another says.
"Mugsy!" A 3rd guest says.
"Well, one of those is right. It actually goes to a duo made with one of those very candidates!" Charity says. "And I want to announce that the Music Video Of The Year award is going to…Shane Loud and Luke Huntington for their California Man music video!"
Luke squealed as he took the stage with Shane to accept their award.
"The 5th award tonight is what I like to call The Bright Spot award. This award goes to someone who really showed a lot of bravery and determination and dedication to keeping our town safe, despite being a rookie hero." Charity says.
"It's going to be me. I've won a lot of awards and I'm a determined guy." Luke says as people cheered.
"A rookie hero, sweetie." Charity tells him. Luke smiles and nods understandingly.
"So, I would like to present this award to two specific people. And they are Shane Loud and Melony!" Charity says.
Luke froze and looked at her. He knew that he wasn't a rookie hero, and that's who the award was supposed to go to.
"What?!" Melony asked. "Me?!"
Shane helped her on stage as he smiled as the crowd cheered.
"Speech!" They chant, wanting Shane to make a speech.
"Oh, this is a huge honor. It truly is and getting to be a bright spot that saved this town, along with my friend Melony here, well, it's just wonderful!" Shane says.
"What he said." Melony says. For once, she lost her brash side. She had no idea she'd win. Maybe it was because she was Garrett's friend. But it felt good to be known as a hero.
Soon, there was a break from awards as the Foxes prepared to perform.
Fans cheered as they performed Good Tonight from The Bad Guys. They had been practicing this routine for some time. Girls screamed for Oliver, Stevie, and Griffin. Boys sighed dreamily and some fainted at the sight of Pam and Rachel.
Emma cheered as she watched them.
They soon finished with bows and Oliver smiled his signature smile.
Soon, Luke was eating with Marcy and Shane. Penny ate with Mona and Mugman. Melony went to Garrett, who was eating with Kylie.
They chatted and stuff. Stephen got up and left the table, not sure if he should stay anymore.
Luke was excited for more awards. But once he saw Stephen leaving, he went after him.
"What's wrong?" Luke asked.
"Maybe I deserve to not celebrate myself. 15 awards this year alone is a nice milestone in my baking career, but…" Stephen sniffed.
"You do deserve a party." Luke says to him.
"Don't hijack the town's New Year's Eve celebration. I think I'm just going to head home now." Stephen says.
"Happy New Year, Stephen." Luke says as he leaves. He felt bad for his friend.
Later…
"The 6th award is the Best Sibling Duo/Group. This award goes to the best sibling duo or group that showed so much love within their family this year. And this award goes to…The Waterlash Family!" Charity says.
"I'm so proud!" Skylia says as the kids go on stage.
"We finally won an award!' Emma says.
"And I've got a speech" Alem tuber says as Angry Luigi blinked.
"Thank you all for your support-" Alem tuber starts.
"We have other awards to give out, young man, so be brief." Charity says.
After the speech….
"The 7th award of the night goes to the Hardest-Working Citizen, and this only goes to people with jobs in this town that aren't working seasonally." Charity says. "Every citizen here has a chance of winning this. But this year, this award goes to a couple who couldn't be here tonight. They run their health club like clockwork and they never give up when times get tough. Especially when it was looking like all hope was lost for their business. So, the award goes to Lance and Sharon Loud! Accepting the award on their behalf are their kids, Shane, Shelby, and Shiloh Loud."
Everyone cheered as they came out to accept this award for their parents. Shane showed them their award over the laptop camera.
They cheered and smiled and couldn't wait to see it after their trip.
Later
"The 8th award is the Scientist of The Year award. It goes to a person who is really smart and has outdone themselves in their inventing. So without further ado, this year's Scientist Of The Year award goes to Penny Crygor!" Charity says as Penny gasped with delight.
"Wow! Me?!" Penny says as she goes on stage and accepts her award. Dr. Crygor smiled proudly at his granddaughter.
"My 10th science award!" Penny squealed.
"We're gonna celebrate that soon!" Dr. Crygor says to her.
With Stephen, at his house, he stared at his trophy case. Then he looked at the award in his hands.
"No one cares. No one ever cares!" Stephen sobbed. "Every award I won this year just shows everyone that I'm good, but my friends never once showed how grateful they are for my hard work!"
He goes to punch the glass on his trophy case to break it and throw the trophies within it into a box. Haiku holds him as he sobs.
"The next award goes to the party planner of the year and this goes to my son, Luke Huntington!" Charity says as fans cheered.
As Luke accepted it, he felt happy all the same, but at the same time, he felt bad for his friend who left the celebration early.
Meanwhile
"As the daughter of the mayor, who couldn't make it, I'm going to start a new rule. To start off the new year, no more superheroes." Gem says as Sabrina felt bad for her friends.
"I mean the needless destruction they cause? That Melony doesn't deserve that award." Gem says. "But she's in Royal Woods, and this is Greendale, so it's none of my concern."
Jason shrugged as Delta was snoring.
With Stephen, he felt his heart shatter inside.
"My friends and I are going to throw you a party." Haiku says. "Your friends are just selfish."
Stephen felt angry at his friends.
"The Twinniest Twins award goes to a pair of twins who are cute, strong, and work well together. And that award goes to my daughters, Kat and Ana!" Charity says. The girls squeal and leap to take the award, then leap back to their seats and giggle to each other.
After all that, it was time for the final award, Superstar Of The Year.
Luke awaited this award, but had to remember that he couldn't always win this one. Charity even made him aware of this. And so did Lucy before she ate that cake 2 weeks ago.
"This year's Superstar Of The Year goes to one amazing star that took the whole city of Royal Woods by storm. From his amazing music to his generosity, he left no stone unturned! So, it gives me great pleasure to present this award to Shane Loud!" Charity says.
Shane was screaming with excitement as his siblings were practically pushing him onto the stage.
Luke clapped for Shane. To be fair, he had won this award multiple times already and it was time for someone else to win it, anyway. Shane smiled as he accepted this award.
The cosmic buddies were walking in Greendale.
"All our efforts and we're banned from protecting the town." Sal says, looking down.
"They're really ungrateful." Alex says.
"We could move to Royal Woods." Jason suggests.
"No, we can't leave our lives behind because of this hero ban." Savannah says.
"What choice do we have?" Jason asked.
"Luke won't like it if we show up and Stephen would likely hold a grudge against me if I won Baker Of The Year or something like it. " Savannah said.
Stephen just left home. He walked to the city park and stared up at the sky with tears pricking his eyes. Haiku came up and hugged him.
"My friends are so ungrateful! After all I did for them this year!" Stephen screamed.
Meanwhile, in Greendale…
"Oh, cosmic buddies, you have two options. 1, stay and suffer or 2, leave and continue your hero work at the multiverse dumping grounds, Royal Woods, since everyone just seems to go there now. Because you can't do it here." Gem says.
"Let's go." Jason says as they leave.
Sabrina begins to cry as she just lost her best friend.
Later, the Louds were heading home with the Foxes as Emma giggled.
"The plane!" she says, pointing at the sky.
Bill landed his plane as Sal walked out looking upset as Angry Luigi looked confused
"What the heck happened?" Alem tuber asked.
"Superheroes are illegal in Greendale. Gem wanted us out. Can we crash at your place?" Alex asked Alem tuber.
"Okay, fine." Alem tuber says.
"Now Greendale won't have a good baker." Savannah says.
Stephen spied and hissed at her. He was in a very bad mood and just stormed away. He didn't want to deal with her right now.
