Chapter 2: Safe & Sound
Ichigo's alarm went off as he turned over and turned it off and groaned, falling back down onto his pillow as he sighed. He then grabbed his phone as he texted his lover, Grimmjow.
"Hey babe, um if you see somebody that has long black hair with faded purple dye on his split ends, will you let me know? Rukia and I are worried about him and I don't think he'll be in school today either…"
Ichigo sent the text as he sat up and stretched. He then looked over when he heard a small tap on the window.
Ichigo got out of bed as he opened the window for Rukia to let her in. They both hugged each other as Ichigo looked down at her.
"Any updates?" Ichigo asked her as he sat on his bed.
Rukia sadly shook her head. "No. But I've been receiving so many messages about some hollows lurking around and I also see a blue dot near them. I don't know what they're doing, but I think they're trying to escape them." Rukia explained to Ichigo as she sighed.
Ichigo looked at Rukia's Soul Reaper phone as he nodded. "That could be the runaway then, Izaya I mean. Don't you think so?" Ichigo asked her as he looked at Rukia.
"I believe so too. Ichigo, are you going to class today?" Rukia asked her friend as she stood up and sighed.
"I am yeah. I'll text you any updates if he's in class today. And also- Oh hang on." Ichigo looked at his phone as he had received a text message from Grimmjow.
"Erm, I'll be inside my work all day but if I get on break and if I see him around, I'll give you an update, love." Grimmjow said in the text message to Ichigo.
Ichigo read it as he smiled and looked at Rukia. "Grimmjow and I will give you an update if we see Izaya in public." Ichigo said to Rukia as he gave her a warm smile.
Rukia smiled back as she looked over at Ichigo's bed seeing something moving under the covers. Kon came out of the covers as he huffed loudly.
"Bah! Don't leave me under the covers, you were suffocating me!" Kon said as he growled at Ichigo then he stopped when he saw Rukia.
Both Ichigo and Rukia looked at him and back at each other. Then Ichigo just had an idea.
"Hey, why not take Kon with you?" Ichigo asked Rukia as he smiled.
Rukia blinked her eyes as she tilted her head. "What can he do?" Rukia asked her friend.
"He can help find Izaya with you. If you two do find him, bring him back to my room and just keep an eye on him so we can take him to the soul society. Once he has fully recovered of course." Ichigo said as he smiled at Rukia.
"Oooh! Can I come? Please! Please! PLEASE! I promise I won't do any funny business with you, Rukia!" Kon begged as he looked at Rukia.
Rukia sighed and shook her head. "Alright, but if I feel a paw on some places that shouldn't be at, I won't hesitate to shred you into a million pieces." Rukia said to Kon as she had a sinister smile on her face.
Kon gasped and got on Rukia's shoulder. "I won't! I promise. Now let's go find that runaway you two keep blabbering about!" Kon said as he pointed to the window.
"Erm, yeah, you two go ahead. I have to get ready for school anyways." Ichigo said as he grabbed a change pair of clothes and headed to the restroom to get dressed.
Rukia opened Ichigo's window as she jumped out to find Izaya and the hollows. She hopes that they are not trying to eat him. Kon helped look around to see if he found anything. Rukia was still on her soul reaper phone checking but the red and blue dots had disappeared for some reason. Rukia sighed as she landed down at a park bench, sat down as Kon jumped off her shoulder.
"What's wrong, Rukia? Are you still worried about the runaway?" Kon asked her as he put his head on Rukia's thigh for comfort.
"I'm not getting anything anymore. I do wanna save him to make sure he's okay." Rukia said to Kon as she sighed.
"But Rukia, what if he doesn't wanna be rescued? What if he just wants to be a runaway for his whole life because he's very traumatized by his last homelife?" Kon asked as he looked at Rukia.
Rukia looked at him and nodded in agreement as she patted Kon's head.
"I can respect his decisions but I won't give up that easily. He deserves a better life than his last one. I'm pretty sure he'll feel a lot safer at the Soul Society." Rukia said to Kon as she gave him a warm smile.
Both Kon and Rukia smiled at each other as the ground began to shake. They then heard a lot of loud roars coming from the sky. Rukia looked up as she saw a hollow and Izaya running in the street. She gasped as she grabbed Kon and put him on her back.
"Whaaaaa!? Rukia what's going on now!?" Kon asked as he screamed.
Rukia looked at Izaya as it was definitely him. He was wet, weak, tired, and hungry. He was about to pass out as he couldn't run from the hollows any more. Rukia grabbed Kon and pointed to Izaya.
"Kon, there's Izaya! I'm going to throw you at him so you can take him to a safe place to hide. I'll handle these hollows!" Rukia told Kon as she was ready to throw him.
"Whaaaaaa?"! Rukia wait can you repeat that again?! I didn't hear you- Whaaaaa? AHHHHHHH!" Kon wasn't prepared as Rukia threw him towards Izaya. Kon landed in front of Izaya as Izaya had fainted and groaned.
Kon looked at him as he tried to wake him up.
"Hey buddy! Wake up! Wake up! I gotta get you to a safe place to hide so you won't get eaten by a- AHHHHHH!" Kon screamed as a hollow was close on landing down to catch Kon and Izaya. Kon covered his head to hide.
Rukia then used her Zanpakuto to freeze the hollow and a kido spell to stop it and the others that were coming by. Kon was able to drag Izaya to a safe place as Rukia was busy fighting off the hollows. Kon panted as he stayed by his side and kept an eye on him. Rukia landed as she was done, wiping the sweat off her forehead as she turned around to find Kon and Izaya in a dark corner. Kon smiled at Rukia and looked back at Izaya. Rukia kneeled as she felt Izaya's neck. He was breathing but he's just very weak right now. Rukia picked up Izaya as she flew into the air.
"Rukia, want me to head home real quick and unlock the window?" Kon asked her as he was on the ground still.
"Yes Kon, please do. I'll be there in a few minutes. I have to make a call to the soul society real quick." Rukia told Kon as Kon gave her a thumbs up and he ran off back home.
Rukia landed down and called her big brother on her soul reaper phone and called Byakuya. Byakuya answered as he cleared his throat.
"Rukia, is everything okay?" Byakuya asked her in a soft tone.
"Brother, I defeated the hollows and I've found the runaway. He's very weak, wet, and tired. Can I bring him in?" Rukia asked as she waited for an answer.
"Get him cleaned up first then bring him by once he wakes up. I'm interested in taking him in." Byakuya said to Rukia as he nodded.
Rukia gasped happily. "Thank you. Thank you so much brother! I'll do that right away." Rukia said happily as she hung up and picked up Izaya, flying into the air.
Byakuya had a small smile on his face as he hung up and leaned back onto Renji. Renji smiled at him and lifted his chin and gave him a soft kiss. Byakuya closed his eyes and kissed him back as they both pulled back.
"So, you're going to adopt a new kid into your clan, love?" Renji asked Byakuya as he kissed Byakuya's neck.
Byakuya let out a soft moan as he sighed in relief. "Yes, Renji. He's a runaway and I want him to have a good life here. Mmmm.~" Byakuya said to Renji as he moaned again.
Renji had his hand under Byakuya's clothing as Renji nodded. "Well, let's see how he feels about this place first. You know how scary some captains are." Renji said as he pinned down Byakuya and got on top of him.
"Yes, that's true but….Haaah….~ Renji now~?" Byakuya said as he looked at his lover.
Renji grinned and began to kiss Byakuya's neck some more and grinded on him harder. "I'm sorry….~ I'm just in heat and I wish to get it out of me. Then you can go to your meeting.~" Renji said as he stripped himself and Byakuya did the same thing.
Back at Ichigo's house, Rukia had lay Izaya down on Ichigo's bed as she waited for Yuzu to be done with some soup for him. Rukia stayed by Izaya's side. Yuzu knocked quietly as Rukia stood up and answered it.
"Thank you so much! I'm sure he'll eat it once he wakes up." Rukia told Yuzu as Yuzu gave her a soft smile and walked back downstairs.
Rukia returned to the bed as she saw Izaya moving. Izaya groaned softly as he opened his eyes and looked over to Rukia. Rukia gasped as she put the soup on the desk and walked over to Izaya, making sure the warm towel was still on his forehead.
"Please don't move so much. I don't want you hurting yourself some more." Rukia said as she gave Izaya a warm smile.
"W-Where am I…? Is he here by any chance?" Izaya asked as he sniffled.
"Who?" Rukia asked him as she held onto Izaya's hand.
Izaya looked at Rukia. "My foster parent. He was very violent towards me. I didn't have a way to defend myself." Izaya explained to Rukia.
Rukia looked outside of Ichigo's window making sure they are far away from the apartments where Izaya used to live and shook her head to him.
"You are very much safe, Izaya. He won't ever come near you. I promise." Rukia said as she sat next to Izaya.
Izaya nodded at her and sighed. Rukia noticed that Izaya had red scars on his wrists. She gasped a bit as she looked at Izaya.
"Were you hurting?" Rukia asked the runaway.
Izaya nodded. "I've been hurting since the day I was born. My mother abandoned me and left me at this village where a lot of violence was happening. When it all stopped, a young family took me in but they rarely gave me attention. So I ran away from them. Then another family took me in but they were so busy arguing with each other that they barely paid attention to me. So I ran away from them too. Then…he took me in. He didn't treat me like I was his kid." Izaya sighed as he began to tear up.
Rukia rubbed Izaya's hand as Izaya looked at her.
"He was only using me to fight the Soul Reapers. And I don't know anything about them. He would hit me if I came home late from school cause he was taking my training very seriously." Izaya explained to Rukia as he whipped his tears away.
Rukia nodded. "Izaya, I'm a Soul Reaper. But I promise you we are not bad. We just wanna help you." Rukia said as she gave Izaya a warm smile.
Izaya nodded at her as Rukia gave Izaya the soup to eat.
"Thank you. I'm really hungry. I haven't eaten all day and night." Izaya said as he ate some.
"Izaya, do you want to be in another family?" Rukia asked Izaya as she smiled.
Izaya shook his head. "No. I don't wanna be used and abused any more. Just for once I deserve better and happiness. Why is that so hard for me to find in my life?" Izaya sighed as he let his tears fall.
"Izaya wait, listen to me. My brother and I have been talking and he's willing to take you in. He wants to help you." Rukia said as she touched Izaya's cheek.
Izaya looked at her and sniffled. "Why?" Izaya asked her.
"Because…I'm too adopted. My big brother took me in. My older sister abandoned me when I was your age." Rukia explained to Izaya.
Izaya nodded at her. "I guess I'll give your brother a chance then." Izaya said as he sniffled.
Rukia smiled happily. "You need to recover first, then we can take you to the Soul Society so you can heal a little better there. You'll make plenty of new friends there too." Rukia said as she smiled big at him.
"New friends? But I'm so used to my old friends here. Can I still come to school here?" Izaya asked as he was a bit concerned.
"Of course! I mean that's no big deal at all. You are finishing up your studies, so that should be okay." Rukia said as she smiled at him.
Izaya gave her a small smile. "Thank you. Can I hug you? And the little plush? You two saved me and I really needed that." Izaya asked as he opened up his arms.
Both Rukia and Kon hugged Izaya as they sighed happily. Izaya looked at them and nodded.
"Thank you so much. And where am I? I don't recognize this room." Izaya asked as he looked around Ichigo's room.
"Oh! You're in Ichigo's room! He should be home soon from school." Kon said as he plopped down onto the bed.
"School? Oh no…..I missed school….eh oh well. I highly doubt anyone even cares about my existence anyways." Izaya said as he sighed.
Rukia frowned. "Izaya, I thought you had some friends at school?" Rukia asked him in a sad tone.
"I kinda do but…it's hard to explain…..I never really talked to anybody cause my…no….. He said that everyone is a bad Soul Reaper and I must stay away and not talk to them." Izaya said as he sighed.
Rukia nodded as she looked back, seeing the door opened. Ichigo walked in as he yawned.
"I'm home. Any- Oh. Hey Izaya. Do you remember?" Ichigo asked him as he walked up to him.
Izaya looked up at him and nodded. "Yes. Ichigo, right? I'm sorry I didn't talk to you before…I'm…." Izaya sighed as Ichigo put his hand on his shoulder and smiled.
"It's okay. You're going through a hard time. What matters is that you're here and you are safe. Yoko is gonna be so happy to hear about this." Ichigo said as he smiled.
"Yoko? I may have ditched her yesterday when she took me into the nurse's office. Can you tell her I said sorry?" Izaya asked as he looked at Ichigo.
Ichigo nodded. "Of course. I have her number actually. So what now?" Ichigo asked as he looked at Rukia.
"Izaya needs to recover. Ichigo can he stay with you for just a few days? Then I come back and bring him into the soul society." Rukia asked her friend.
Ichigo chuckled, "Of course. I'll just give him a pair of fresh clothes and all." Ichigo said to Rukia.
Izaya nodded. "I'm okay with that. Thank you, Rukia and Ichigo. I really appreciate you guys so much." Izaya said as he yawned and laid down.
Rukia whispered into Ichigo's ear. "He needs to rest. I'll be heading back to the Soul Society and let Byakuya know that Izaya is safe in your hands." Rukia said as she hugged Ichigo.
Ichigo sighed and hugged Rukia back as Rukia opened the gate for herself.
"He'll be alright, Rukia. I promise." Ichigo said as he waved at his friend. Rukia smiled back as she walked into the gates and the gates had closed.
Ichigo took the empty bowl and put it downstairs. Izaya was cuddling Kon as Kon was too sleepy. Ichigo came back to his room with some dinner as he smiled at his friends and sat on his computer desk and ate.
Rukia returned to the soul society as she walked up to Byakuya and gave him updates about Izaya. Byakuya nodded and hugged Rukia.
"Thank you. We'll bring him into our family as soon as possible. He deserves a loving family." Byakuya said to Rukia as Rukia smiled and nodded.
Whew! I am so excited to re-write this again & give Izaya some more tragic- I mean happy endings! :D
So, I personally don't ship Ichigo x Rukia. I see them as friends so please don't be in my DMs all mad because I'm not following the canon Bleach Manga ending.
I have some Bleach ships that I personally like & they shouldn't be making any of y'all Bleach fans mad. Just move on, okay? Good.
