Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Michael, The D-Team, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the dinosaurs went to ride on some motorbikes provided to them by the staff. Ventus rode with Terra.
They came to what looks like something in an old horror movie. There was a house with an electrode (not the Pokémon to those who would think that) on each side.
"This has got to be the place," Karen said.
"Pikachu," Blossom said.
"Yeah. Looks like one of those houses you see in a horror movie. The kind where a mad scientist would make a hideous monster inside," Max said.
"I doubt it. That sort of thing is only possible in the movies," Rex said.
"Yeah, you watch too much movies, Max," Zoe said.
"You're not just saying that because you get scared by them, huh, Zoe?" Max asked.
"Me? Scared? No, of course not," Zoe said.
"I seem to remember you clinging to me when we watched that monster movie," Max said.
"It was after you tricked me into opening my eyes when the killing started," Zoe said.
"Yeah, she literally slapped you silly for that," Rex said.
"Come on, it was only a joke," Max said.
"A tasteless and unfunny joke. Sora would never have done that to Kairi," Zoe said.
"It's true, he wouldn't do that," Rex said.
"Absolutely not," Terra agreed.
"Very childish on your part," Aqua said. Chomp even nodded with agreement.
"Hey, whose side are you on, Chomp?!" Max exclaimed.
"See? Even Chomp agrees with me and he's YOUR dinosaur," Zoe said. Max groaned.
"Is it always like that?" Michael asked.
"Yeah. That really shows how those two are made for each other," Karen said.
"So, who's Kairi?" Michael asked.
"My brother's girlfriend," Karen said.
"Really?" Michael asked.
"Yeah. He first met her when he started on his journey. In fact, she's with him right now in Hoenn, along with our other friends," Karen said.
"Other friends?" Michael asked.
"Yeah. There's Ash and Leaf, Sora and I knew them since kindergarten. They came from Pallet Town, same as me. Riku who came from the Alola region and his girlfriend Naminé who comes from Saffron City in Kanto. Ethan, Kris, and Lyra who came from New Bark Town in Johto, and there's Brendan and May who both live in the Hoenn region. In fact, we met those two in Hoenn before we caught up with Max, Zoe, and Rex," Karen said.
"Pikachu," Blossom said.
"And I have a feeling they'd get along with you," Karen said.
"I hope so," Michael said.
Just when they were about to knock on the door, they heard a voice calling out to the group.
Wait! Who goes there?!" A boy's voice called out. They turned to see a small boy with blue hair. He wore thick glasses with spirals on each lens, and wore a white lab coat with a yellow bow tie. "Oh-ho, we have a gang of burglars. Chobin will put you straight! Don't any of you move!"
"I'm guessing he's Chobin," Ventus said.
"Pikachu," Sparky said.
"What makes you say that, Ven?" Rex asked.
"He's speaking in third-person," Ventus said.
"Don't ignore Chobin and talk about Chobin while Chobin can hear you!" Chobin said.
"See?" Ventus asked.
"I do now," Rex said.
"I don't think it matters if he's speaking in third person, because we have to reason with him," Aqua said.
"She's right. We got to," Terra said.
"Pikachu," Thor said.
"Pika," Elcair said.
"Hold on! We're not burglars!" Karen said. Chobin wasn't buying it.
"Chobin knows you're burglars, because any burglar would deny being burglars!" Chobin said.
"Seriously?" Karen asked.
"Now to business! Chobin is Chobin's name! And Chobin is the number-one assistant to Dr. Kaminko! Chobin is the only assistant, so Chobin has to be number-one assistant!" Chobin said. He took out a Pokéball and he threw it. "Go! Sunkern!" His Pokéball opened and his Sunkern emerged from inside.
"Okay, I'm taking this one!" Michael said, taking out his Pokéball and threw it. "Eevee! Go!" His Pokéball opened and his Eevee came out to battle.
"Eevee!" Michael's Eevee said.
"Sunkern! Use Absorb!" Chobin ordered. Sunkern moved in to deliver an Absorb.
"Dodge and use Bite!" Michael ordered. Eevee dodged Sunkern's Absorb and bit Sunkern. "Now, use Tackle!" Eevee lands a Tackle, taking down Sunkern.
"Chobin lost!" Chobin exclaimed as he is calling back his Sunkern. He dropped his glasses, but he started to look for them until he found them. He places his glasses back on. "You've made Chobin angry now! Even though Chobin lost, you're still not going past Chobin!"
"You're jumping to conclusions. We're not here to rob anyone," Aqua said.
"Huh?" Chobin asked. Chobin readjusts his glasses and he sees the group clearly. "Closer observation reveals the subjects are children. Ergo, the subjects are not burglars."
"Gee, did you figure that out on your own?" Karen sarcastically asked.
"Cut him a break, Karen. He made a mistake," Terra said.
"Chobin wishes you spoke up right away," Chobin said.
"We did speak up. We tried to tell you!" Karen said.
"Pika!" Blossom said.
"I'm just looking for my sister Jovi," Michael said.
"Oh, you're Michael? Chobin apologizes for jumping to the wrong conclusion.
"Yeah, we came all this way to find Jovi, so have you seen her?" Michael asked. Before Chobin could answer, a little girl with fair skin and blue hair came out. She wore a white dress and long blue boots.
"Oh! Big brother! What are you doing here?" Jovi asked. She then gasped. "Oh! Jovi gets it! Big brother, you got lost, didn't you?"
"Uh, yeah, I did get lost. And you found me again," Michael said, playing along. Jovi giggled.
"Jovi thought so! Big brother, you look dependable, but then you make silly mistakes!" Jovi said. She then noticed the group with her brother. "Who are they, big brother?"
"These are my new friends. Meet Karen, Terra, Aqua, Ven, Max, Rex, and Zoe. They came from the Kanto region, and it's very far away. Guys, this is Jovi," Michael introduced.
"Hey there, Jovi," Karen greeted. Jovi looked at her.
"Is she your girlfriend?" Jovi asked, making Michael and Karen blush.
"No, I only just met her today," Michael said.
"Ooh, is it love at first sight?" Jovi asked.
"Yeah, these are our partners. Blossom is the one with the flower. The one with the tuft of hair is Sparky, the strong-looking one is Thor, and that one is Eclair," Karen said. Jovi then looked at the dinosaurs.
"And what about these?" Jovi asked.
"This is Chomp, Paris, and Ace. They're with Max, Zoe, and Rex," Karen said.
"Now that we know each other, why don't you tell us if this is Dr. Kaminko's house or not?" Terra suggested.
"Uh-huh. This is Dr. Kaminko's house. Dr. Kaminko's job is to make incredible inventions. There's a whole bunch of neat machines like they have at the Pokémon H! Lab. You should come in too, big brother," Jovi said before she stepped back inside.
"I never would have imagined her being her older brother," Chobin said.
"Does she she come here very often?" Zoe asked.
"Yes, she comes here sometimes. She wonders around everywhere. Chobin finds it hard keeping an eye on her so that she does not bother the doctor. But have you come all this way to witness the doctor's inventions? Please, say yes," Chobin said.
"What do you say?" Michael asked.
"He did invite us in, so it would be very rude if we just turned it down," Aqua said.
"Okay, you talked us into it," Michael said.
"Wonderful. Follow Chobin, please," Chobin said. The group followed the young assistant inside the house and see the inventions he has made. "Okay! Chobin will now show you the inventions of the inestimable Dr. Kaminko."
"Are they really that great?" Max asked.
"Yes. Dr. Kaminko's inventions, it needs to be said, are number one in the world! Chobin is full of admiration!" Chobin said.
"I'll say you are," Karen said.
"In the whole wide world, no one but Dr. Kaminko would invent such inventions! Therefore, they are number one in the world without question!" Chobin proudly said. He heads for the door down to his right. "Our Dr. Kaminko, who is verily great, is inventing in that room there." Chobin opens the door and they look inside.
Inside the room, Jovi is with a scientist who has large white hair, along with a white mustache, and goatee. He wore a yellow shirt with a red bow tie, magenta trousers, light blue shoes, and the same kind of glasses as Chobin. ALso inside, is an elderly man wearing an orange shirt, white shoes, green pants, and white shoes. He has a small white goatee and tufts of facial hair on both sides of his face.
"Hi, doctor! What kind of funny machine are you making this time? Jovi wants to know," Jovi said.
"Uh-oh! That girl is at Dr. Kaminko's side again! Chobin hopes she is causing no disturbance," Chobin said. He shuts the door, chuckling nervously. "Anyway, let Chobin acquaint you with just some of Dr. Kaminko's greatest inventions," Chobin said. "Let's begin the video." He presses a button and a video plays.
"Dr. Kaminko's inventions are number one in the world! Chobin's choice is this, ta-da! The unhealthy sandals! The insole is stubbed with lumpy nubs that fail to stimulate every pressure in a fabulous way. Keep wearing these, and Chobin will guarantee painful feet and chronic worsening of your health," Chobin on the video said, making the group look at him with disgust.
"Why would I want sandals that'll me feel unhealthy?" Aqua asked.
"Yeah, no one in their right minds would buy that or accept as a present," Zoe said.
"Pikachu," Eclair agreed. Paris also agreed.
"Well, there are other inventions if you like to see," Chobin said.
"I think we'll just take your word for it," Ventus said.
"Yeah," Max said.
They went inside to Dr. Kaminko's office to retrieve Jovi and leave. The other elderly man noticed them.
"Hello there. I think I've seen you over at the Pokémon HQ Lab, if I'm not mistaking," Makan said.
"Yeah, I am," Michael said.
"Well, my my name is Makan. I run the parts shop in Gateon Port. Are these your friends?" Makan asked.
"Yeah, I just met them today," Michael said.
"Oh, that's nice. How is Professor Krane doing thse days?" Makan asked.
"He's doing quite well," Michael said.
"Good. If you'd be so kind, please tell the professor that the machine part he needed is ready, and he should come get it anytime," Makan said.
"I'll do that when I see him," Michael said. Michael went up to his sister. Jovi looked at what looks like a blueprint of a machine.
"Hi, big brother! This is a funny drawing! It's a really detailed drawing of a really weird machine!" Jovi said.
"That's cool, Jovi, but it's time to go home, now," Michael said.
"...Huh? Are you going home already, big brother? But you just got here!" Jovi said. Her playful side kicks in again. "Oh... Jovi gets it! Jovi has to show you how to go home, right?"
"Uh, yeah. Big brother needs to head home and mom is looking for me," Michael said.
"Okay! That's what Jovi will do! Jovi will take you home! Mimi! Let's go home with big brother!" Jovi said as a Minun walked up to her.
"Minun," the Minun said and jumped in her arms.
"Okay! Let's move out! Jovi will visit again, Doctor! Bye-bye!" Jovi said as the group began to take their leave and head out the door. Dr. Kaminko sighed to himself.
"I thought she'll never leave. Now, I can continue my work in peace," Dr. Kaminko said.
As soon as everyone stepped out of the house, Michael's PDA goes off.
"Email. Better see what it says," Michael said, opening it up. He saw it was from Professor Krane.
Dear Michael,
You and your friends have traveled far in your search for Jovi.
Please come back to the HQ lab as soon as you find her.
I need your help with something.
"What is it? What is it?" Jovi asked.
"Yeah, what is it?" Ventus asked.
"I don't know, but the professor wants us to come back at once," Michael said.
"It must be important if he's making contact with you and to come back quickly," Rex said.
"Then, we should go back and see what's up," Karen said.
"You're right. Let's go," Michael said.
"Yeah, Jovi gets worried when you wonder off by yourself, big brother. Let's go home," Jovi said.
With that said, they returned to their bikes as Jovi rode with her brother as Ventus rode with Terra once again. They returned to see Professor Oak, Professor Krane, and Lily waiting for them to come back.
"Hi, mommy! We're back!" Jovi said.
"Oh, Jovi! Haven't I told you not to wander away by yourself?" Lily scolded her daughter.
"No, mommy, you don't understand! Big brother was lost, so Jovi brought him here! If Jovi weren't there, Jovi bets he'd be crying now saying he can't go home!" Jovi said. She turned to her big brother. "Right, big brother?"
"Yeah, that's one way of putting it," Michael said, not wanting to argue with his sister. Lily had to go along with it, too.
"Oh, my, my! Jovi, you are such a brave and resourceful girl! But that's quite enough for today, Besides, Adon must be tired of waiting for you," Lily said. Jovi gasped when she remembered she was playing hide-and-seek with Adon earlier.
"Oh, my gosh! I was in the middle of hide-and-seek!" Jovi said. She turned to Michael and her friends. "Okay, big brother, I'll see you later! Bye-bye!" Jovi took off inside the lab.
"I can tell she never gets bored," Karen said.
"Pikachu," Blossom said.
"Jovi always gets so excited, she can hardly stay still. Anyway, thank you for finding Jovi for me. And I'm sorry you had to be involved, too," Lily said.
"It's really no problem, ma'am. My own big brother said, you don't need a reason to help a friend," Karen said.
"Your brother must be a good boy. And as long as you're here, Professor Krane wanted to see you, Michael. Go see him right away, please," Lily said.
"Sure, mom," Michael said.
Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Michael, the D-Team, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the dinosaurs have gone through the lab to see Professor Oak and Professor Krane waiting for them.
"Michael, it is finished," Professor Krane said.
"The new Snag Machine?" Michael asked.
"Yes. And it is an opportunity for us to test it out," Professor Krane said.
"If I remember right, someone used the Snag Machine to snag Shadow Pokémon from people who would use them for evil," Terra said.
"Chu," Thor said.
"Yes. The new Snag Machine was made for that same purpose. With the return of the Shadow Pokémon imminent, we couldn't afford to take any chances," Professor Krane said.
"And you're the perfect candidate for the task. Normally, I don't condone such a thing, but I see no other way around it,"Professor Oak said.
"I'll do it. I mean, if the Shadow Pokémon are making a comeback, then I'm going to do it," Michael said.
"It's in that case," Professor Krane said. Michael opened the case and he placed the new Snag Machine on his left arm.
"Wow, it fits perfectly on you," Karen said.
"Yeah, it looks cool on you," Ventus said.
"I'll say it does. Anyway, I added a new app on your PDA, Michael. I call it the Shadow Monitor," Aidan said.
"What's it for?" Michael asked.
"I'm glad you asked, Michael. It lets you check data on the Shadow Pokémon you've encountered," Aidan said.
"And one more thing," Professor Krane said, handing him one more thing. "Take it."
"What is it?" Michael asked.
"This is an aura reader," Professor Krane said.
"Why would I need this?" Michael asked.
"Wait, I remember hearing that there's a girl that had the ability to see an aura that the human eye can't see," Rex said.
"That is correct, Rex. This device will see what the human eye cannot. And that is when you will know which one is a Shadow Pokémon," Professor Krane said.
"And there are two more things you will be needing, Michael," Professor Oak said, holding a briefcase. Michael opened it and there are Pokéballs, Great Balls, Ultra Balls, and other kinds of Pokéballs inside. "You're going to be needing these to snag the Shadow Pokémon with them. And you will need this." Professor Oak hands Michael a Pokémon Box. "This Pokémon Box will inform you that you have exceeded your limit, so you will choose to send one of the new Pokémon over to this lab in exchange for one you already have in your possession, or just send it back to the lab."
"Thanks," Michael said. Just then, loud noises are from somewhere in the lab.
"W-what's going on?! Who are you people?!" Professor Krane exclaimed.
"What's going on?!" Karen asked.
"Some strange men broke in the lab!" The receptionist said.
"Go this way!" Michael said. They stepped out and saw a couple of people knocked out and Professor Krane being taken by three men in a strange-looking truck. They wore white uniforms and one of them wore a yellow scarf while two of them wore red ones. One of them is muscular and the other two were slim.
"Will you let go of me! Where do you think you're taking me?!" Professor Krane demanded.
"I'm taking you to your new lab, professor," the man with the yellow scarf said as he chuckled evilly.
"What? My new lab? Professor Krane asked.
"Move it; we don't have any time. If you don't want to get hurt, hustle yourself into the car," the muscular man said.
"You people... What are you?" Professor Krane asked.
"Who are they?" Max asked.
"I don't know, but they already crossed the line!" Michael said, rushing in the scene. "Hey!" The men turned to see Michael approach them. "Let Professor Krane go right now!"
"So, you're going to play hero and try to stop us? I don't show mercy to anyone, not even kids," the man with the yellow scarf said. He took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Teddiursa! Go!" His Pokéball opened and a Teddiursa emerged from inside. Michael took out his own Pokéball and threw it.
"Eevee! Go!" Michael called out. His Eevee emerged from inside. The Aura Reader responds on its own and it shows Michael the black aura. "What the?! A black aura? Wait, it could only mean, it's a Shadow Pokémon!"
"Michael! Throw a Pokéball at that Teddiursa! Hurry!" Professor Krane said. Complying with the professor, he took out a Pokéball and converted into a Snag Ball. He threw it at Teddiursa, making it flow inside. The Pokéball wobbles around and around. STars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch.
"What was that? My Shadow Pokémon! Was that... Was it a snag?" The man with the yellow scarf asked.
"Look at that! That Snag Machine actually worked!" Ventus said.
"Yeah, it sure did. It took that Teddiursa right from him," Karen said. Michael's Eevee brings the Pokéball back to Michael who picks it up.
"Kid! What is that machine on your arm?!" The man with the yellow scarf exclaimed. The other skinny man gasped.
"A Snag Machine?! What the hell is it doing here?" The other man exclaimed.
"That's big news! Come on, move! I need to report this to headquarters, like now!" The man with the yellow scarf said.
"You're right, Naps. Let's go!" The men said, taking off with their hostage.
"Let him go!" Max shouted out
It was too late, because they took off with Professor Krane.
"Rats! They got away!" Karen said.
"Well, that's just perfect," Michael sighed.
After the abduction, they told Professor Oak, Lily, Jovi, and Aidan about what happened.
"Waaah! They took the professor away!" Jovi cried.
"Don't cry, Jovi. I'm sure the professor is okay," Lily said.
"We;ve contacted the police and the proper authorities about Professor Krane. They should let us know if they discover anything," Aidan said.
"Just who are those guys? And why would they just take him like that?" Zoe asked.
"I don't know, but I am certain that this confirms Professor Krane's worse fears. The Shadow Pokémon has indeed return just as he always said they would," Lily said.
"So, Michael's new Teddiursa is a Shadow Pokémon after all," Aqua said.
"Chu," Eclair said.
"Whoever they are, they made it clear as crystal they don't want the Purify Chamber to be finished," Terra said.
"Pikachu," Thor said.
"And that is very bad, because he is an essential part for the project. Without him, there's nothing we can do!" Aidan said. A long silence fills the room until Lily spoke up.
"Let's complete it! We'll finish the Purify Chamber ourselves!" Lily said.
"Lily? The director's not here! It's hopeless! There isn't any possible way to get it done," Aidan said.
"You're on the verge of finishing! This isn't the time to feel sorry for yourself. The Purify Chamber project got this far not just because Professor Krane was here. We got here because we all worked as a team. Having come this far, it would be wrong to stop now. Our pride as scientists is on the line. Let's finish the project as one!" Lily said.
"I trust you can do what you can do what you can. He would want to complete it with or without him," Professor Oak said.
"Agreed. Michael, I'm going to need your help again. You see, there is a machine part the professor has placed an order on, so I'm going to need you to go to Gateon Port and pick it up," Lily said. Jovi perked right up, getting over saddness.
"I know that place! Emili's house is right next to the parts shop! Mommy, can Jovi go? Jovi wants to help everyone!" Jovi said.
"Jovi, I appreciate your offer. I know you want to help. But, it's an important component..." Lily paused as she paused for a moment.
"I think we should all go and help out anyway we can," Karen said.
"Yeah!" Ventus and Max said.
"Pika!" Pikachu said. Chomp let out his small roar.
"We may not be members of the lab's staff, but you can appreciate some outside help," Rex said.
"Alright. You can all go. Jovi, you're a member of the lab's staff, too. You may go if you take Michael with you," Lily said. Michael felt embarrassed, knowing Jovi will say Michael can't do anything without her. "Dear, would you mind going with Jovi?"
"Of course," Michael said. Jovi smiled.
"Okay, mommy! Big brother is Jovi's assistant! You have to listen to Jovi, big brother!" Jovi said.
"Sure thing, Jovi," Michael said.
"Off we go to Gateon Port!" Jovi said.
"Michael, Jovi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Max, Zoe, and Rex, all of you be careful, please. I'm counting on all of you," Lily said.
"W're on it, mom!" Michael said.
"I think Makan should be at Dr. Kaminko's house, right?" Max asked.
"Yeah, and he might still be there," Karen said.
"That'll be our first stop," Terra said.
With that said, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, the D-Team, Michael, Jovi, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the dinosaurs rode off to Dr. Kaminko's house to speak with Makan about Professor Krane's abduction. Will they be able to find Professor Krane and bring him back safely? And could those men who abducted him be Team Shadow making their return after 5 years? Find out when we reach our next chapter.
