"May!" Dawn squealed happily as she spotted her.
"Dawn! I didn't know you were in the Hoenn Contests?" May exclaimed in surprise.
"Yea! I decided to come here after I went through Johto," Dawn explained.
"Hey, troublesome! I'm going to go train," Paul's voice declared as he walked towards the door.
"Is that your duo partner?" May asked her hand over her mouth.
"Duo partner?" Dawn questioned with confusion.
"Yea! This contest is a special type! It's where two people can partner up and they can both help each other with their appeals and battles! In the end, the duo who is last standing will both receive a Ribbon!" May explained.
"Really?" Dawn groaned," I don't have a partner!"
"But what about the dude you just talked to?" May asked.
"He's just my traveling partner! I mean seriously? Does he look like a person who would be in the contest ring?" Dawn asked, giggling at the thought of Paul in formal attire and his face with a scowl.
"I guess you're right…but what are you going to do now? Since you don't have a partner?" May murmured.
"Could I partner up with you?" Dawn asked.
"I'm sorry but I already have one," May replied, blushing.
"Who?" Dawn asked, tilting her head," Is it Solidad?"
"Hey, May! I signed us up," A greenhead exclaimed as he walked to May.
"Drew?" Dawn exclaimed," You guys are surely going to win!"
"Oh, who is this?" Drew asked as he noticed Dawn.
"My friend, Dawn!" May explained," She's the one I lost to in the Wallace Cup."
"I thought she looked familiar," Drew flashed a grin," Who would've guessed you could defeat a pro like May."
He then flipped his hair as he stood as if posing.
"Shut up Drew!" May screamed as she smacked his head.
"Ouch!" He groaned, rubbing his head.
"Sorry about him!" May apologized," Anyways! What do you plan to do now about the contest?"
"I guess I won't enter," Dawn sighed.
"You should try to coax that sourhead to join ya!" May exclaimed, her face lighting up
"Paul?" Dawn murmured.
"Who's a sourhead?" a voice spoke, frightening the girls.
"Paul! When did you return!" Dawn exclaimed. "Just a second ago," Paul replied bluntly.
"Well, Dawn here needs a partner to join this contest!" May quickly exclaimed pushing Dawn towards him.
"No," Paul replied.
Why not?" May questioned.
"It's ok May! I can sit out this one," Dawn tried telling her.
"Mmpf! Of course, you wouldn't want to sign up," Drew stated, his voice laced with arrogance.
"What was that?" Paul looked over at him.
"I mean! Imagine if such a sourhead were to participate in a contest. Man, that would give contests a bad name," Drew commented and then smirked.
Dawn glanced at both Drew and Paul.
"Does Drew want to die!?" Dawn screamed inside.
"Say that again?" Paul stated through clenched teeth.
"I said, you would give contests a bad name and you wouldn't even stand a chance against me and my Pokemon's superiority," Drew stated, placing his hand on his hip.
"Is that a challenge?" Paul asked, glaring at Drew.
"Depends how you look at it," Drew smirked.
"Mmmpf!" Paul grunted," And if I were to beat you?"
"You can surely try," Drew smiled confidently.
"I'll do it," Paul bluntly stated then turned around.
"Huh?" May and Dawn both exclaimed at the same time.
(The next day)
Dawn was staring in awe as she saw Paul, who had his hair in a short ponytail. His outfit was a dark plum vest with a white undershirt, with dark plum trousers. It complimented the dark sea blue dress she was wearing.
"You ready?" Paul asked.
"Mhmm…" Dawn shook her head.
"Hey, Dawn and Paul!" May exclaimed, running towards them with Drew tailing behind her. .
May was wearing a rosy pink dress with a flowy knee-length skirt, and her hair was pulled back and pinned with a rose pendant. Drew was wearing a green vest with dark green trousers and a matching pink rose in his vest's pocket.
"Not bad," Drew commented as he placed his eyes on Dawn and Paul," I am excited to see what your guys' appeal is."
You will see," Paul smirked.
"First up is Dawn Berlitz and Paul Rebeldo!" the voiceover blared.
"Best of luck guys!" May grinned excitedly.
The two walked out to hear a roar of excitement.
"Just like we practiced," Paul stated to Dawn then exclaimed," Come on out Sneasel!"
"It's your time to shine, Cyndaquil!" Dawn declared.
"Use Ice shards towards the sky and make them extra icy!" Paul declared.
"Cyndaquil! You use Sunny Day!" Dawn exclaimed.
People gasped as the ice shards flew in the sky and with the effect of the Sunny day. The sun's rays shone through each one causing them to shine like diamonds.
"Now Cyndaquil use aerial ace!"
"And you use X-scissors!" Paul commanded.
The Pokemon listened and they broke each shard into a million tiny shards making the shimmering effect look even more beautiful.
Paul grasped Dawn's hand as they both bowed, with their Pokemon following suit.
The audience roared with happiness.
"Wow! An amazing appeal from Dawn and Paul! That combination of Ice shard and Sunny day has everyone roaring with excitement! One last round of applause for our starting duo!" the announcer exclaimed.
Dawn and Paul both exited the arena discovering May whose eyes shone and Drew just looking in surprise.
"Mmmpf! How was that?" Paul stated, crossing his arms in satisfaction.
"Impressive, for a beginner," Drew smirked.
The four stood as they watched other duos complete their appeals till it was finally Drew's and May's turn.
"Now watch and learn amateur," Drew commented as he walked out with May.
"Now we have the Hoenn royals paired up for the Duo contest! What do they have up their sleeves?" The announcer cried out.
"Royals?" Paul asked, looking at Dawn.
"Well you see…," Dawn explained," May is known as the Hoenn Princess and Drew is known as the Hoenn Prince. Since they repeatedly keep taking the Contest championship from each other."
"I see," Paul stated, then refocused back on the TV.
"Steal the spotlight Beautifly!" May exclaimed.
"Show these people elegance Roselia!" Drew declared," And use petal dance!"
"Use gust!" May commanded.
As Roselia used the Petal dance, Beautifly used gust in a way where the petals were dispersing throughout the whole stadium.
"Now use Sweet scent!" Drew exclaimed.
"And you use string shot!" May declared.
The smell from Sweet scent filled the room as people enjoyed it and then May's Beautifly used string shot at each rose petal until all the strings connected.
The whole room was filled with silence until they realized what happened.
"There's no way," Paul muttered as he looked closely at the TV.
Though it was plain as day. The string shot had perfectly caught each petal and revealed an outline of a rose.
"What an astounding appeal! The crowds are going wild!" The announcer exclaimed, barely being heard over the noise of the crowd.
"So that's why Beautifly was using Gust in such an interesting way," Paul murmured," because it was getting the petals where they generally needed to be and then it used string shot. It was meticulously trained to create a rose. Impressive."
"Is that even possible?" Dawn exclaimed, her eyes wide.
"I guess it is but I bet it took a lot of training," Paul replied.
"How was that for a show?" Drew smirked as he walked in.
"I was so happy it worked," May laughed.
"How were you able to do that?" Dawn asked.
"Just a lot of training," May smiled as she looked at Drew," I wouldn't have been able to do it with Beautifly until Drew helped me,"
Dawn watched as May shyly blushed towards Drew who was talking to Paul.
The day went on ending with May and Drew ultimately defeating every one of their foes. They had stayed in sync with each other in each battle. Mesmerizing everyone who faced them or even was watching them.
The four of them stood outside the stadium as it had finished.
"So you guys want to get dinner together?" May asked.
"No thanks," Dawn stated," Me and Paul need to start our trip to Little Root Town for Paul's tournament."
"Mhmm," Paul nodded in agreement.
"Oh ok! Maybe next time!" May grinned,
"That was a good appeal, Paul. Maybe if you keep practicing you might catch up to me," Drew smiled.
"I'm never doing that again," Paul declared, folding his arms together.
"Your choice," Drew grinned.
"C'mon Drew! Let's go get dinner! See ya around Dawn and Paul!" May exclaimed, grabbing Drew's arm and running off.
"Good luck! May!" Dawn exclaimed, waving goodbye.
"Good luck for what?" Paul questioned.
"She's going to confess," Dawn grinned widely.
"Confess what?" Paul asked.
"Her feelings!" Dawn declared.
"Weird," Paul grunted, then started walking towards their destination.
"Whatever!" Dawn huffed, though if she was paying attention she would have seen a blush come over Paul's face as he remembered Dawn in her dress.

Hoped ya'll enjoyed! Drew knew what he was doing by hurting Paul's pride hehe!
Also I tecnically made up how to use the Moves they use for their appeals since this is fanfic hehe! But the moves themselves are part of the Pokemon Francise.
